Wow! Thread number three.

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
FuzzyOwl · 27/04/2016 13:22

I'm tucked up in bed now and about to fit in a quick rest before DD wakes up. I doubt I will sleep, but don't have the energy or inclination to do anything.

SharedLife · 27/04/2016 13:53

Hi everyone,
had the 12 week scan today. Unfortunately they said that the top of baby's skull was missing. There were no doctors in today so I've got to go back in tomorrow to be scanned by a doctor and they will take it from there. From what I have read so far it seems this is a symptom of a condition that is no compatible with life. So I think we will have some tough decisions ahead. I think I have run out of tears just long enough to write this down. No idea what we tell DS(8) we told him about baby after a 7 week scan as I was being so sick he was getting worried about me.

Congratulations to everyone who has had good news Flowers

Bollyroo · 27/04/2016 14:04

Shared, I don't know if it helps but my sister was told exactly the same thing. She worried for a very long week before going back for another scan by a different radiologist and it turned out everything was fine and the first person was just shit. So fingers crossed and whatever the outcome, we're here for you.

fuzzywuzzy · 27/04/2016 14:04

Oh Shared, so sorry. Talk to your husband and decide how to speak to your DS about it.
Take care of yourself.

Thurlow · 27/04/2016 14:05

Oh shared Sad All my thoughts and best wishes with you and your family. I hope you get to see a doctor soon Flowers

Spindelina · 27/04/2016 14:07

Sorry to hear that, Shared. I hope you manage OK until tomorrow.

Fedupithink · 27/04/2016 14:07

Oh Shared I am so sorry you have had this news today. I hope your DH is there with you today and you have some rl support?

It might be best to step away from Google for a while and just be really kind to yourself.

Flowers for you.

CakeAndChocolate · 27/04/2016 14:08

shared I'm sorry to hear this. Thinking of you, though I can't imagine what enduring the wait must be like. Much love.

likeawestern · 27/04/2016 14:38

Oh Shared that is terrible news. I'm so sorry Thanks

Jamjar and copper, I'll be 13+4 for my scan too, it's annoying!!

I had a lovely center parcs two day spa break. Was great to have some time out, however, was 5 days off being able to have anything other than a file and paint as a treatment!!

RuskBaby · 27/04/2016 14:38

So sorry shared I can only imagine what you are going through. Hope you manage to get some rest before tomorrow, will be thinking of you.

tiredmumrighthere · 27/04/2016 14:51

So sorry to hear that shared Sad best of luck for tomorrow Thanks

Thanks ladies, I have just about managed today, I'm so ready for my bed right now! I've got the worst back pain right now and it seems to only get worse when I'm sitting, my midwife has referred me to physio because I've always suffered with horrendous backache after an epidural with my first child, plus it's got worse after my last labour was back to back! I cannot wait for this letter to arrive with a date im so uncomfortable now Sad

My username should be on my birth certificate lol x

needanewjob · 27/04/2016 15:58

almondbutter · 27/04/2016 17:58

Dear all, is anyone suffering with reflux badly at night and have you found anything that helps? I think it's reflux rather than hormone now causing my vomiting. Going to try Horlicks and sleeping propped up tonight but any suggestions super welcome.
Thanks in advance.

FuzzyOwl · 27/04/2016 20:08

almond the only thing that helped me last time was omeprazole (prescription only) and my reflux went from disrupting everything to being non existent. I am going to see my GP for another prescription because I figure that if it is bad now, it will only get worse and nothing else seemed to touch it.

almondbutter · 27/04/2016 20:29

Thanks FuzzyOwl, good to know there's a prescription option if it gets really miserable. Hope yours better this time around.

coppergrey · 27/04/2016 20:33

Hi almond, not had any reflux/heartburn issues yet but my husband suffers from terrible acid reflux - he is medicated now, but in the past has controlled it with diet.

If you do some googling you can find out which foods have high acid content which irritate reflux further - off the top of my head, I remember tomatoes, garlic, cereal, bread and red meat being a problem for my husband. We created a chart with 'bad', 'neutral' and 'good' foods and he tried to eat from the good list as much as possible. He really, really noticed a difference when he ate from the bad list!

Hope that helps... I don't have personal experience but I know from how much he suffered that reflux is miserable, so sending you lots of luck for keeping it under control.

almondbutter · 27/04/2016 20:41

Thanks copper, that's great. My 99% ham sandwich and bowls of Start diet may not be helping then...
Am getting a little taste for some fruit and veg back, so hopefully I can eat a little more carefully the next few months.

likeawestern · 27/04/2016 20:45

Almond I'm on omeprazole - it's magic!!

FuzzyOwl · 27/04/2016 21:04

I don't know that diet helps very much in pregnancy as I am sure it is to do with your organs shifting upwards and reduced room inside that exacerbates heartburn and once it has started, I think it is just gets worse.

coppergrey · 27/04/2016 21:07

Any first-timers seeing a bump yet? I'm nearly 10w and definitely have a little belly... maybe more bloating than anything but it feels so early to have something so pronounced! Grin
