MKG pants are underwear here and I presume your underwear isn't going to be falling down on television. Hang on, what sort of programme is this?! I know what a pornographic bunch I'm dealing with I've taken to wearing fishermans trousers to work (you know, yoga trousers), adjustable and comfortable.

Ignore those gender predictor things, I was just interested if they are right at a rate of more than 50%. I read the other day that a survey found that women could only predict the gender of their unborn child as often as chance.

Now shall I have stir fry or chilli for dinner? Stir fry's quickest but if I make chilli I can heat some up for lunch tomorrow.

MKG · 08/01/2007 18:21

Go with the Chili. I love Chili.

ShowOfHands · 08/01/2007 18:25

Onions browning as I type. Chilli it is!

cinnamontam · 08/01/2007 18:39

They reckon I'm having a girl - all my family back in Australia reckon it's a girl so hopefully in 1 week I will know!!

Evening all - god i love pate. Damn your black hearts for talking about it. I haven't had a crumb since I got preggers and now it's all i can think about

aprilmeadow · 08/01/2007 19:09

tried the chart thingy out and it recons that ds is a girl and that bubba is a boy. Tried the question one out and it had a higher chance of being a girl.

LG&T thank you for the cake - i love lemon drizzle and with choc chips it just makes it even more yummy. now how about some flapjacks

Lupins sorry to hear that bubs was being shy, but at least you dont have long til the next scan

Frenchsmallfry · 08/01/2007 19:35

chinese one says, girl! MKG's one says 65 percent Girl!

Actually the chinese one was right for both H&M. Freaky?
sure it's just chance though. Well, yeah 50/50 I suppose, durrrrr!

Had my Chicken, yumm Yumm, Chicken fingers, MKG, I'm highly offended, they come in a box from the freezer here, not knocking them but they are processed. I know what you mean, I think we would probably say chicken goujons. Like to try to be posh us brits. Who cares what they are called, you should all try them, with lettuce, the

Frenchsmallfry · 08/01/2007 19:37

Ooooooo AM, spill the beans, what did you buy, can you still afford that car service next week or have you blown it?

twelveyeargap · 08/01/2007 19:40

Lwatkins, you know in Ireland, a sheebeen is a sort of tumble down cottage... But I like shebean very much indeed. Might even adopt it myself.

Gender prediction thingy said I was having a boy... Part of the reason I convinced myself SHE was one!

Bored, bored, bored. I hate packing. DH has obviously been hiding at work. I had to IM him to ask if he was coming home at all... Tsk.

OP posts:
Frenchsmallfry · 08/01/2007 19:47

Oh, just had a phone call, FIL is coming out tommorow to spend a week with us to "help" whils dh is in Hospital!

Cleaning and cleaning tommorow then for me.

Very thoughtful of him!

Pebblemum · 08/01/2007 19:53

I did MKG's gender quiz and it came out 46% boy 54% girl so that was very helpful (sarcastic face) I must admit i didnt answer all the questions as i couldnt be arsed to try the needle thing and i dont know the heartbeat rate as yet (midwife wouldnt tell me last time except it was very strong), there were a couple of other things i couldnt answer to but i did try my best, honest

One night when im bored and the boys have both gone to bed properly (ds2 didnt sleep until 11pm last night)I may try all those quirky gender prediction myths and make a note of what they say to see if they are right or not. It may take my mind of the wait until i find out for definate.

Lwatkins · 08/01/2007 20:30

Evening all ladies and bumps, hope your all well. Did the chinese test and it said girl - correct, and the other one 52% girl, 48% boy! Did a HUGE tesco online shop earlier, getting delivered 2moro, mmmmmm! Cost a fortune, but when the bumps gotta eat, the bumps gotta eat! Felt like i was stocking up for the winter, ill be lucky if it lasts me 2 weeks!

SKYTVADDICT · 08/01/2007 20:35

Hi all

Welcome drgpink.

TYG - our midwife led unit is attached to a hospital but not one with paediatric services so the closest with this is Lincoln which is only 16 miles away. I have agreed to look round Lincoln then decide.

We are struggling with the school run too at the moment. Tonight I have made the sarnies and drinks already for tomorrow so maybe that will be better.

Had my 24 week midwife appointment today, heard heart beat etc, have a trace of protein in urine but blood pressure was ok so just need to flush kidneys out and keep an eye out for uti. I really don't drink enough so have been trying today but end up spending loads of time going to loo.

Congrats on your pink one lw and on your ok scan Lupins.

I'll try and catch up on the rest of the thread tomorrow, need to put DD2 to bed now

largeginandtonic · 08/01/2007 20:37

lol FSF, im like that, major clean when someone comes to stay! My mother is the worst, it's ridiculous she comes to help but i half kill myself the week before tidying!

Am munching my way through the remainder of a tin of heroes, so bad. I just keep thinking when it's gone i cant eat it anymore. I never buy crap for the cupboards as i know i would just munch it

Nothing on TV tonight is there? Have no paper to check.

LupinsBigLump · 08/01/2007 20:47

All those gender thingys are saying girl, most people that have seen me have said girl - I reckon if bubs had one leg crossed over (which is how she saud it was lying) then something would have shown up if it had been a boy - what do you think or can it still be pretty well hidden, my friend who had a boy said it was quite obvious and her scan lady said it wasnt easiest to see a girl which is why they dont like to guess, hmmmmm musing pretty things in new vertbaudet catalogue

notsolilKel · 08/01/2007 20:52

Hello & welcome aboard Drpink - hope you have the stamina for this board!!

I'm cursing you all for discussing pate. One of my weaknesses and we're not allowed to eat it! Only thing worse was seeing the lovely brie bagettes at Pret every day last time round. Thankfully now I'm not working in the city anymore...

Oh an ditto for the flapjacks. You do know I'll be on the hunt for both flapjack and pate tomorrow... not sure about that combo though (blech).

Congrats on your lil girl result too, LW. Buying all the pink stuff now???

Overall just amazed lately at what a house I've become - tis really quite scary

JonahB · 08/01/2007 21:13

Hi Ladies.

Well I don?t log on for a few days and there?s no way I can keep up with all this nattering?

I?ve just tried MKG?s chart and a Chinese prediction one and it says I?m having a girl. However, in my last pgy, the charts told me I was having a girl and the baby definitely came equipped with an extra ?leg? ??.

Intheseshoes, best of luck for the scan tomorrow!! Your care doesn?t sound dissimilar to mine ? a scan at 12 weeks, another at 19. I saw the m/w at 16 wks and will see her again at 24 weeks. I?m sure I saw the m/w more the first time around, however, they have told me that with no. 2 they do less checks if the 1st pgy/birth were not complicated. I?m not sure about drop in services for pre-natal check-ups. Do you know that there is a post-natal drop in centre on Chapel Road on Thurday?s 1-3pm? I know that community midwifes are always there?..
Oh, another quick one. Without wishing to sound like a professional stalker, were you in Nero?s on Sat am? Purely out of complete nosiness, I was on the lookout for pgt ladies with a DS eating almond torte?s. I did spot one such lovely lady, however, I am utterly aware that description covers 1/2 of the clientele in there. The other 1/2 have DD?s ?..

My only other news is that my DS1 has uttered his first sentence. And I quote, "More! Me! Ninner!"(that's dinner to you and me). Ah, his mother's son. Got his priorities right. I am SO proud......

Pinktrappedwindjenny · 08/01/2007 22:12

Hi girls

Scan went fine, apart from the fact that it was a trainee sonographer and she was getting right on my nerves. Due date has also been brought forward by 4 days now.

Anyway, picture is rubbish as my little chicadee is lying on its tummy, bum in the air, with legs tucked under ..... HER!!!!

I'm absolutely delighted that its a girl. Am dreaming of pink tutus and ballet slippers. Dh is a little disappointed, bless him, he's dreaming of skirts that are too short and getting pregnant at 13.

Another pink one! congrats PJ. Predictor says girl for me too and its what I secretly think it will be, but not finding out so who knows?

by the way, has anyone heard from JucyLucy? think she was off somewhere before xmas...

twelveyeargap · 08/01/2007 22:47

Hurrah for more healthy scans. That's great. MKG - have a brilliant time at the tv show tomorrow. Can't wait to hear what freebies you get.

Me and the boxes are going to bed shortly. DH came home and told me off for lifting boxes. Not really sure how he thinks one can pack without lifting boxes. Oh well.

I don't have an awful lot to do tomorrow, thankfully. I'm very excited about picking up the keys. I'm hoping it all goes through reasonably early in the day so I can go and have a look round and make sure it's clean and that kind of thing. Yippee.

Hi drkgpink welcome to the madhouse and posting extravaganza that is Due May 07. These girls know how to talk. Sorry I have read all the posts but not got time to reply, congratulations all of you who know what you are having and have got what you want.

All went well at todays oops yesterdays scan I have spent all b**y night trying to work out how to upload pics but here we go. Hope you are all okay and don't forget TPT today!

twin 1

twin 2

Please excuse the chapel hatpegs as it was a bit chilly honest

dd and bump

SKYTVADDICT · 09/01/2007 09:11

Great piccies CM and huge bump!

I have done TPT and am still 10 sheets altho I feel huge.

Going to look at nurseries this morning, can't think of hardly anything to ask but maybe I'll come up with something other than how long are they open for each day and how much does it cost! Like quality of one to one care etc.

twelveyeargap · 09/01/2007 09:27

I am shocked every time someone mentions looking at childcare for the bumps.

I really thought I wouldn't have to even think about whether I was going back to work until next December.

What happens with nurserys? Can you put your name down and then change your mind later, or do you usually have to sign a contract upfront? I'm just thinking that I should maybe have a safety net in case I want to go back. Unlikely, but you never know.

Anyone know how much nurseries in central London cost? Typically the websites tell you nothing. Think a nanny would suit us better, but I don't think it would be worth my while working with that kind of cost.

OK. I am going to finish packing at least one room and then come back on.

Hope we're all well today. Bye!

OP posts:
SKYTVADDICT · 09/01/2007 09:34

TYG - I am hoping I don't have to sign a contract - will let you know later!

incy · 09/01/2007 09:49

Twelveyeargap it depends on the nusery how far in advance you have to book - would say in London the good ones are likely to fill up quickly so may be worth having a look. Last time with some nurserys I had to pay even to be put on the waiting list and I have had to pay a deposit for number two already (won't be starting until at least November 2007 but they couldn't guarentee a place otherwise!)

Would also advise to look at a lot and not take recommendations without checking - my bf loves her children's nursery but when I looked it was not the type of environment for me as I wanted a more homey atmosphere and nuserys can be very different to each other in their approach.

I am in the south and pay £40 a day but prices range from about £32.50 per day upwards. This does include food (snack, luch, afternoon tea) but not nappies, wipes, milk etc which I provide. Other nuserys locally are all inclusive whilst some don't even provide food and you need to provide a packed lunch and snacks each day so all worth considering if comparing costs.

If a nanny appeals have you considered a nanny share ? - a lot of familys do this locally. Think there are agencys who can match you with someone else in the area.

largeginandtonic · 09/01/2007 10:19

Congrats on your pink one pinkjenny!!! Dh will get over it and soon be cooing at his little princess

Glad the packing is going well 12YG and you are excited about the move. I havestill yet to hear fron scooter for her address, i sent her an email but she could be struck with the pox by now and unable to move! Poor her, hope she is ok.

Juicylucy has indeed gone awol and Jess, where are you ladies?

Charley i read you post on the multiples thread, you look great and the babies are looking so cute! Excellent scan piccies, i want a 4d scan now.

Nurseries > hope it goes ok for all you that have to look. How bizzare looking for a place for a bump!

Im in a very black mood > Hugs was dredful last night, he kept waking up to play and mess around. I put him in my bed so he didnt wake the others but arrrgggghhhh I cant find Phin and Jonah's pe kits, having carefuly washed and put them back in their little bags before xmas. Dh moved rooms around and i think he has 1. buried them in the small store room (behind big heavy boxes, stacked higher than me) 2. buried them in the garage (still full of xmas boxes of wrapping paper) and in general chaos, bike all over the place etc...

So this morning i went in to the garage and tried to sort trough stuff, it was a nightmare, i lifted oo many things and was ready to sit on the floor and cry. I cannot get in to the storage room without killing myself. So no PE kits still, i cant afford to buy new ones! Bloody dh has just gone off to work oblivious of the chaos he leaves behind. His biggest stress of the day is oooh shall i have a full english brekkie or cereal this morning?! FFS

See told you i was in a bad space
