Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
treacletart · 15/01/2007 14:27

So sorry Cat - you sound very together, get lots of rest and look after yourself. Good luck for a speedy healthy new pregnancy.

Congrats Babymdad! did we have a brief chat about microscopes a while back? If so, seems to have done the trick!

BabyMadwithBump · 15/01/2007 14:31

The microscopes worked first months TC with it after 17/18 months of trying!

tokentotty · 15/01/2007 15:03

Treacletart and Babymad....what's the story with microscopes then ????

(Just realised that we're on the same due in August thread treacle after playing place of birth snap with you)

treacletart · 15/01/2007 15:22

Think we've both used ovulation microscopes - with quite some degree of success it seems! Totty, I cant find your stats, but I'm guessing you arrived at St Mary's quite some time after I did in '67. Actually or should that be "Hectually" I was delivered by the Royal gynaecologist consultant Mr George Pinker now Sir George Pinker who delivered all the royal babies there too. My VIP connections kind of went down hill from then!

tokentotty · 15/01/2007 15:33

Treacle, could you enlighten me further on these ovulation microscopes ? I took a long, long time to fall and have a friend still trying after 2 years. Sometimes trying anything helps don't you think ?

Actually you're right, never did put my details on the list so here they are

Tokentotty
Age 31 (32 by the time Peanut arrives)
DH 35 (at beg of March)
Edd 15th Aug
1st baby
Live East Londonish

You're right about being a bit later than you but I very much doubt I can claim such highbrow connections !!!

Babbit · 15/01/2007 15:37

Which hospital will you be having your baby at Tokentotty?

tokentotty · 15/01/2007 15:40

Well....I've said Whipps X but that was because it was the closest to me and I didn't have a clue when my GP asked so kinda panicked and just said that. Where are you thinking of going B?

treacletart · 15/01/2007 15:47

Totty I used one from ebay similar to this one Basically you just put a little saliva on the lens each day and wait to see how it dries. When you ovulate it dries in a very distinctive, and not unattractive, ferny pattern. Seems pretty accurate its worked 3 times for me. But TBH I think my hormones were all over the place last time after m/c and I did use ebay cheapo ovulation test strips too. Can't you tell I was determined to get pregnant again asap! But I do love the low-tech wonderousness of the microscope.

Babbit · 15/01/2007 15:55

Whipps X too. Had my dd there in 2005. I have heard they now have birthing pool facilities.

tokentotty · 15/01/2007 15:56

Well I'll be Treacle....never, ever even heard of that !!! Cheap, easy, and it would appear that I very much have living proof of it's success !!

tokentotty · 15/01/2007 15:58

Babbit, they have 'open days' on Sunday from 2pm so am going to try and get down there this coming weekend to have a nose around and try and get a feel for things. Might be nice for you to have a look around as well if you think loads has changed since your dd.

Babbit · 15/01/2007 16:01

Yes I probably will but nearer the time. The choice for me is Whipps or home birth so I can wait a bit longer. Do please tell about the water birth facilities once you have been.

Babbit · 15/01/2007 16:52

Totty - do you have a date for your dating scan? After being told by GP that I won't get one I spoke to midwife last week and she says I definitely will. Just waiting for the postman to bring the appointment card now...

tokentotty · 15/01/2007 16:58

Funnily enough I got my letter last Friday I think. It's on the 5th Feb, which will make me almost 13 weeks. I can't imagine why you wouldn't get one. My doctor filled in my booking forms the Friday before so I only waited a week to hear about my scan.

Loulee · 15/01/2007 18:03

So sorry, Cat and Feedme, don't know what to say. Thinking of you guys. x

BabyMadwithBump · 15/01/2007 20:16

Scan pic

Uki · 15/01/2007 20:45

Baby mad-fantastic pic, really lovely

Loulee · 15/01/2007 20:50

What a clear lovely pic, babymad.
Can't wait for my scan now. Seeing a pic of a wee thing the same age as mine (all 12 weeks!) makes it seem all the more real.

Uki · 15/01/2007 21:03

Oh Cat to hear you news, far to many m/c on here. Keep positive though.

Hi Token- we have same due date and are the same age, when's you birthday? My dh is one year older though.

pink - I have been thinking of starting a pg thread for extremely worried pg after m/c and the like, we are not alone. there's a few of us chatting on 14 weeks and loss of symptoms.

BabyMadwithBump · 15/01/2007 21:04

Thanks, I feel I got the a gold star , as up till this point you've got nothing, no bump, no movements and so on, you've got nothing back just all the c**p with the bad symptoms!, but a pic makes it worth it and very real.

treacletart · 15/01/2007 22:33

Super envious of lovely clear pic - I've always found my scan pics a bit like those 90's optic 3d poster things - I could never see those things properly either - something about a latent squint - anyway I used to get quite upset at other people being able to read them properly and my mum coming out with stuff like "oooh the baby's got your chin!" WTF! I could barely work out which end the head was. Yours is fab!

gardeninggirl · 15/01/2007 23:01

Cat how awful - so sorry to hear your news - agree with Uki - too many horrid m/cs, no rhyme or reason

Babymad - so lovely to have some good news on the thread - what a fab picture! I hope they get your thyroid sorted soon - I have certainly learnt early pregnancy can make you feel sick enough without an extra reason!

Tokentotty and Babit - know Whipps well and have worked there when I was training - it has a really good reputation for obstetric care in the area even though the facilities are a bit shabby.
I am not getting much joy out of Tommies - still waiting (and hassling) for appointment dates - am 12 weeks this week so hope I get a scan appointment through soon at least
Tommies are blaming the GP for not sending them details quick enough - could be either at fault - just wish they would sort it out . Sorry for the rant!!
GG

boobooma · 16/01/2007 09:10

Hi all, sorry to hear of m/c cat. Thinking of you.

I'm signing off for a bit, til I get past 14 weeks, i'm getting scared to death with the amount of m/c we've had on the thread. Awful for those who've lost their beans, but I need to retreat. Hope to catch up with you all soon.

tokentotty · 16/01/2007 10:19

Hey GardeningGirl, thanks for mentioning that about Whipps X, is nice to hear stuff like that, especially when you really don't have a clue about any of this. I think I've heard they've also got a new 'birthing centre' so hopefully that'll give it good obstetric care coupled WITH new and much less shabby facilities. Someone else mentioned that the care was great but it was very much run on carribbean time which I thought was sweet.

UKI - My birthday's 28th June - you ? Just had a little look at your details and noticed the matches. Whereabouts in Oz are you ? My best friend moved to Perth last year and another of my dearest friends is off to Sydney at the end of Feb (sniff, sniff).

Babbit · 16/01/2007 10:20

I agree it is very difficult to hear the sad news and remain 'distant'. It is very close to home. I feel very lucky that I have no personal experience of m/c and I don't know what it must feel like. I hope all who have suffered will recover well, physically and emotionally, and go on to have healthy pregnancies and children.

Gardeninggirl - I agree with you about Whipps. When I had my daughter there I found the place to be shabby but clean and the staff were wonderful.

Totty, I'm still waiting for my scan date. I expect it will be after 5 Feb. Hope I can wait that long! They only recently started doing 12 week scans. They didn't do them (routinely) when I had my DD. THey only provided a scan at 20 weeks.
