Totty - was your friend who moved to Perth last year called Lisa? I realise a lot of people do this but given we obviously live near each other I thought I would ask.

tokentotty · 16/01/2007 11:01

Nope, not a Lisa who went. My friend's name is Siobain. Although, now you mention it, how's your friend getting on ? Siobain has found it a bit tough sometimes and quite isolating. Think she's more settled now and her DH has joined the police force. Their dd was 1 in November so she has got herself out and about to baby/toddler type groups to meet people so that's helped.

Babbit · 16/01/2007 11:05

I thought that would probably be a coincidence too far! She is getting on fine. They are in the process of buying somewhere and like your friend is going to mother and toddler groups (they have a 21 month old - I know Lisa through NCT antenatal classes). I have been a bit rubbish since Christmas on email so haven't got full update. Will definitely do so now though.

tokentotty · 16/01/2007 11:15

Well funnily enough Siobain did the NCT ante-natal classes too (and thoroughly recommended them) although she must have been living in Broxbourne at the time so I guess that would be too far out of our area to have been the same group.

conkertree · 16/01/2007 14:43

ooh getting nervous now - got my scan tomorrow at 9.20. took a half day so we could take our time and not be too rushed.

Not sure about this having your bladder as full as possible - at the moment it feels pretty full after half a glass of water.

tokentotty · 16/01/2007 15:28

Is not easy Conkertree. When I was ttc I had to go for an ultrasound to check all my girl bits were working ok. Drank loads of water and left work in plenty of time to get there, already feeling slightly in need of a wee. Anyway, almost halfway home and there's the worst traffic accident in a long time and I'm stuck as a stuck thing with no chance of getting anywhere for ages. The desire to wee is increasing rapidly as is the surety that I'm going to be late for my scan. Finally arrive at hospital very late but they do see me quite quickly. Am desperately trying not to wet myself (No mean feat by now) as the guy scanning me digs the thing right in and then says "I'm sorry, there's too much urine in there. You'll have to go and do a little bit and then come back" ME: "Are you feckin' joking....?"

The good news is that my scan last week was event free and went very easily which I'm positive yours will too xx

conkertree · 16/01/2007 16:50

thanks tokentotty - that made me laugh lots.

bresha · 16/01/2007 16:59

Hello everyone
Feed me , cat - I am so sorry to hear your news, all the luck for the future, (((hugs))

Babymad ? love the pic, its so clear, none of mine were ever that good

Well I hope my ms is coming to an end now, I was only sick once yesterday,
Iv put loads of weight on my tummy, but in all iv lost almost a stone! Was quiet a shock. I was sure I had put on loads coz my trousers are getting tight now.
Well I have a driving lesson 2 morrow
It was a bit sooner than I was expecting but sooner the better I suppose

Good luck with your scan tomorrow conkertree, I wish mine was tomorrow, still got a week to Waite

How is everyone else feeling 2 day?

Loulee · 16/01/2007 20:04

Bresha, youre beating me already! hope it goes well. Loulee x

PurpleRabbit · 16/01/2007 20:29

Just wanted to say how sorry I am to hear Paula, feedme and Cat's news .

Still don't have a date for my scan, but as DS (nearly 2) seems to have hidden my mail today I wouldn't actually know if it's come through - need to go and have a good hunt.

GillL · 17/01/2007 12:57

Quiet in here today. How is everyone? I'm not feeling quite so sick as I have been and my headache that I have had for nearly a week is getting better.

Sooo jealous of everyone who's already had a scan. I'm booking in with the midwife on Friday so hopefully I will only have to wait a couple of weeks. My sister works on the ultrasound reception so I might ask if she can do me a favour and fit me in earlier. I'm not looking forward to having to drink so much though. I know it's bad but I normally only drink a couple of pints of water a day (if that) so I really struggle to drink so much in such a short time. Makes me feel sick - as if I needed any other reason.

redtent · 17/01/2007 13:54

hi everyone,

Not been posting much as I have been feeling SO ill, I am feeling a bit better now.

Am worried sick aboutthe scan on Friday (mainly because of the m/c) ... am supposed to be going on my own as DH is caring for the boys.... but I really think I need someone to come with me.

All added to a complex issue with the ils.... I can't say much, but I am gutted that they may have lied to us and it could have affected the health of my boys and possibly this baby. Hopefully we will manage to sort the mess out and it will have been a misunderstanding.

Sorry to be on a downer.... I will hopefully be exstatic on Friday after the scan!!

Hope everyone else is doing better

GillL · 17/01/2007 14:08

Hi Redtent. Sorry to hear you've been feeling so bad but glad to hear you're better now. I struggled to stay out of bed over new year. Even sitting in the living room in front of the tv for an hour was too much effort.

Babbit · 17/01/2007 14:10

Redtent - my imagination is in overdrive now!! Hope you get it sorted and glad you are feeling a little better. I know it's difficult, given your history, but try not to worry about your scan, the odds of a healthy baby are in your favour.

Conkertree - you back from your scan yet?

Got my date through for 12 Feb. That seems a very long way off to me.

conkertree · 17/01/2007 14:11

hi everyone - sorry to hear things are complicated redtent - hope things get worked out.

Scan went really well - baby was doing gymnsatics and kept moving away everytime she got close for a picture, but got a couple of really good ones with the baby waving.

Its such a relief to finally see it move - hope the next few weeks go quickly for everyone who is waiting for a scan.

redtent · 17/01/2007 14:19

LOl Girls I am sure it will be a misunderstanding... but you know when you ask your parents if there is any medical history you should know of.... and they say nothing..... well.....

and as I have had 2 seeningly healthy boys I guess that the chances of the lie making a dfference physically are low- it's just the emotional hurt.

We have such a fragile relationship withe them anyway... DH is livid at the thought and trying to stay calm till we know the reality!!

and ugh- re Gill. I have totally been the same. Poor boys can't wait for mummy too feel better!

GillL · 17/01/2007 15:53

It's difficult to cope with especially when you've already got kids. DH is really feeling the strain at the moment and is spending more time looking after dd and doing shopping, cleaning etc. He told me the other day that he thought I was taking him for granted. Perhaps I was but it's about time he made more of an effort. He told me yesterday that he liked finishing early on Fridays and going straight home instead of picking dd up so he could have some time to himself. I felt like asking him when I could have time to myself!

How old are your boys Redtent? dd is 22 months and quite a handful.

redtent · 17/01/2007 15:57

almost 3 and 1 and 1/2.

and hard work yes- but I love them to bits!!

GillL · 17/01/2007 16:39

I can't wait for dd to have a little brother or sister. She'll be so excited. We haven't said anything to her yet because we don't think she'll understand.

redtent · 17/01/2007 16:50

We started talking to ds 1 when he was 1- (6months b4 baby arrived) and we read 'there's a house inside my mummy' and other new baby books. ds 1 was totally unphased when ds 2 was born... it was like he'd alwasy been there. I am not sure if that is cos he was so young or because we had spent hours talking to him about it... I bathed with him most nights and he loved watching the bump move etc.

I think most people wait until 20 weeks to start serious prep. with other kids.... but I bet your DD will understand some of what is going on- and that will help.

Anyone else thinking about preparing older dc??

GillL · 17/01/2007 16:58

I've been thinking about buying some books about being a big sister and having a new baby around. I'll try that one. Thanks.

BabyMadwithBump · 17/01/2007 17:29

I'll be telling DS 7yr and DS 4ys, about the baby in 4 weeks when Im 16 weeks and baby is moving around and this thyroid thing is beiing/been sorted, they know we have been trying for a baby for over a year they keep asking is there i baby growing in your tummy yet! but they'll be over the moon when we tell them next month that there's a baby in mummys tummy, cant wait to see their little face's!
Babymadxx

Loulee · 17/01/2007 18:34

We're going to tell dd1 (3 and 1/2) and dd2 (18 months) as soon as we have the all clear on the scan. - I'll be about 15 weeks then.
As we haven't told friends yet, can't tell dd1 - she's such a chatterbox it'd be round 1/2 of Glasgow beofre we know it! I think she has an incling (sp?) though...
trying to keep it a secret with our familys knowing already has been a bit of a joke - what with my Dad writing it in some of his christmas cards til i told him it wasn't common knowledge and mil telling people she doesn't think we'll come into contact with (and do!). nevermind only 3 weeks to go now.

conkertree · 18/01/2007 09:04

Ooh loulee - you're in Glasgow? We live not far out of Glasgow. Was thinking about coming to Glasgow for NCT ante-natal classes - but then dont know much about it. For those of you doing this not for the first time, did you go to just NHS ante-natal classes, or were NCT ones useful too?

Uki · 18/01/2007 10:32

Hi All
heard babies heartbeat yesterday at obstetricians I was so relieved. I have cancelled fridays scan and will have nuchal instead, I only had a scan one week prior so seemed like a bit excessive. I think i want a pic like babyads, at 12 weeks.

I might tell ds about baby at 18 week ultrasound, not sure he understands much yet, but teaching him about baby animals in the meantime. Books sound good !!!

what's news with everyone, time is finally starting to go a little quicker which is good.I'm sure I won't say that when i'm old, but enjoy saying it now.
