Sings...."Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday to you...." etc

washingqueen · 28/02/2007 14:19

pinkranger - those are all lovely names too. Grace was my first choice for a girl last time, but a friend has used it so now I feel I can't (stamps feet)

I am at a complete loss for names this time around - DH and I just can't agree on any! I mean we only had the one boys name last time so what hope do we have if its a boy this time?

Hersetta · 28/02/2007 14:24

TT,

Yes DH is devestated. Keep finding him in tears when he thinks I'm not looking. He said his biggest regret was not being able to tell his friend that we were expecting(we staring telling people last Monday and his friend died on Tuesday). Hopefully after the funeral (at which my DH is a pallbearer) things will settle down a bit but DH is actually very sensitive (despite the hard exterior he put on) so I imagine he'll take a long time to come to terms with his death.

Yes Clairdges is wonderful isn't it? I've been a few times before and we went for out wedding anniversary last summer so i know it will be wonderful. may even push the boat out and have one glass of wine as a treat.

As for baby names, we've decided on Matthew for a boy and are still discussing girls names. I like Hannah, whilsy DH prefers Abigail.

pinkranger · 28/02/2007 14:24

i do agree it is hard , Ds name was a last min thing as we had only girls, he is Ben ( Just Ben ) and it suits him.

I love harriet but one of my friends said to me thats her name for when she has a child , and can i not use it wont be in the next couple of years! Seems a bit harsh!

washingqueen · 28/02/2007 14:42

The only name DH and I agreed on was 'Dylan' for DS so that is what he ended up with. Annoyingly DH's hilarious father just wouldn't give up on the Magic Roundabout jokes..he even bought him a dylan rabbit to the hospital - it is so ugly I nearly cried (it was my hormones you understand )

pinkranger · 28/02/2007 14:43

lol at the rabbit!

tokentotty · 28/02/2007 14:43

Oooh Pink - that's a bit cheeky of your friend isn't it ?? Oh how we'll laugh when she has all boys.... Did you have Ben's name as your definite boy's name before he came along or did you name him on sight ? At the moment we've got Patrick for a boy and Evelyn for a girl. Having said that, think we'll always call this baby Peanut !

Honestly H I feel so sad for your DH. I think grieving and upset can be much harder sometimes for men as they feel they're 'not allowed' and have to stay strong. Mind you, some people are just very private, I am. when each of my parents died I tended to do my crying by myself which is ironically 'not allowed' when you're a girl. typical huh ?

Definitely have a glass of wine love ! My midwife positively recommends a glass or two of red in the week

washingqueen · 28/02/2007 14:47

baby names do tend to stick...my 2 younger sisters have been called 'dumpling' and 'madame mim' well in to their teenage years

pinkranger · 28/02/2007 14:51

Ben was decieded about 4 hours before he was born

We call this bump windy ( because im very but when my Ds was a bump we called him spunky!!! Glad that hasnt stuck with him!!!

tokentotty · 28/02/2007 14:54

God, I've really got the giggles today, laughing at both your posts Pink & Washing !!

washingqueen · 28/02/2007 14:55

I agree, it is definitely harder for a man to grieve. When DH's mum died suddenly he wouldn't talk to me at all and actually disappeared off somewhere for a fortnight...12 years on and I still have no idea where he went but respect that he needed to get through it in his own way.

washingqueen · 28/02/2007 14:56

My first bump was imaginatively called 'bump' ...I really should try harder

tokentotty · 28/02/2007 15:01

Hey Washing.....just had a thought. If both your sisters had pregnancy/baby names I'm reckoning you must have too. C'mon - 'fess up !!!

GillL · 28/02/2007 15:26

Blimey it's busy on here today!

Happy Birthday Hersetta.

We're going to find out the flavour if we can. I couldn't go til August not knowing. We haven't even really discussed names although I've got a few in mind. I really like Matthew for a boy (sorry to copy Hersetta) or Keiran. DH wanted to call dd Keira but we picked out of a hat and I got my way and we called her Katelyn. For a girl I quite like Katherine or Anna. DH and I hated most of each other's choices last time so we might have a battle.

Mrsshuvel · 28/02/2007 15:41

Happy Birthday Hersetta!!!!

tokentotty · 28/02/2007 15:49

It's annoying isn't it when DH vetos a name you love isn't it ??? I mean, I know we should have free rein to laugh hysterically at any nonsense names they come up with that we disagree with but really, they should know better than to doubt our judgement don't you think ??

pinkranger · 28/02/2007 15:50

agree with you TT !

My Dh wanted to call son Errol - After errol flynn!!!! WTF

tokentotty · 28/02/2007 15:51

Stop it.....he didn't !!!

pinkranger · 28/02/2007 15:54

No he did , he has even thrown it in the pot this time round!!!

I comprimised, On Ds first xmas went to bear factory and named his first bear Errol !!!!!

tokentotty · 28/02/2007 15:56

Oh dear....oh deary dear.....poor you !! What other gems has he come up with thus far for number 2 then ?

pinkranger · 28/02/2007 15:59

He has been reserved at the moment as he know i will take the Pi**
But i will keep you updated!

he has also said warwick ?? ( which i think he has got from CIS) and Flynn ! yes , you have guessed it!!!

Hersetta · 28/02/2007 16:01

Thanks for all the birthday wishes ladies. Dh did quite well on the pressie front this year - I got a new Radley handbag and matching purse - luckily bought before his stay in hospital.

Errol !

Love it. Although i do know an Errol personally. He though is a 6'5 semi pro basketball player and it definitely seems to suit him!

TT, one of our friends still calls his DD peanut and she is 7. I have a hard time remebering that her name is actually Olivia, as i hear it so infrequently.

tokentotty · 28/02/2007 16:02

Yup, seriously think this could keep me entertained PR !! Warwick huh....

Actually, I should be careful - hope I haven't insulted anyone's name choices already !!

pinkranger · 28/02/2007 16:03

when i work out how to do it i will do my profile page and put a Picture of Ds on there and you can see "NOT' an errol

pinkranger · 28/02/2007 16:03

me too - dont want ot put anyone off peoples name!! Love them all !!!
