not feeling sick here either but sme , just feel generally shitty all the time!

peanuthead · 19/02/2007 10:55

aaah but tokentotty, you've got a holiday coming up - all that sun will surely make you feel great...

We've got a place in montenegro which needs furnishing and I won;t even let dh book flights yet as I feel so crap - but he says the choice is feeling crap here or feeling crap lying in the sun with a nice view (although actually it will be lots of driving about buying beds and lamps in my pidgin serbian and cleaning up the builders mess etc)

I suppose we're still all fairly early on - still plenty of time to bloom - or at least feel ok. SO I keep on telling myself.

tokentotty · 19/02/2007 11:14

It's odd isn't it this general sort of 'malaise'. Must admit to not having expected it, but still think I'm feeling thankful overall that I'm not going through what some ladies here are.

Hey Hersetta I'd love to see you on our way to Spain. Will warn you now though that your first glimpse of me will more than likely be when I get on the plane last, red and blotchy from running where I overslept or got stuck in traffic, and everyone else on the plane is tutting very loudly and giving me evil looks... You won't want to know me then !!!

tokentotty · 19/02/2007 11:17

Ahhhh but Peanut, may I point out that we're taking my out-laws with us..... I know what you mean about all that needs to be done when you're setting up a place abroad though, DH is telling me we've got to go furniture shopping for an apartment further up the coast, plus joyously spend time with the solicitor writing our wills etc. Can't wait !

You might well be right about it just taking that little bit longer for us to hit the blooming stage (undoubtedly more like ballooning stage in my case but hey-ho). Will live in anticipation !

GillL · 19/02/2007 14:11

Hi Beakyman. I'm 14+1 and although I don't feel so nauseous as before I still feel pretty awful most of the time, especially if I don't eat regularly. I'm still waiting for that magical day that people talk about where all the bad symptoms just magically disappear. Well I can live in hope. I can't remember feeling this bad in my last pg but it was 2 1/2 years ago and I have a really bad memory.

I don't have a holiday planned for this year as we have no money. It would be nice to get away but it definitely wouldn't be anywhere hot. Sorry to be a kiljoy but I hate summer.

tokentotty · 19/02/2007 14:36

Sorry to hear you're still feeling crappy too GillL, am really looking forward to hearing about the first few on here to tell us how they've reached that mythical day and they feel absolutely brilliant so that the rest of us get some hope !

Said to someone over the weekend when they were saying how lovely having a summer baby was that they really shouldn't bother booking to go anywhere hot this year as I could guarantee that July and August will be the hottest on record just to help us all with the last few months discomfort....

peanuthead · 19/02/2007 15:14

GillL
Well that proves what my mw said - early pregancy is dire but you forget about it once its over. Bit like labour I suppose. Thank god or we'd never do it again.

tokentotty - ok, so not a relaxing holiday in the sun either then!

I love the heat - can't get enough of it - I'm that annoying person who grins all through the 30 degrees heat when we get it here who everyone hates. But I have a feeling this might be the summer to change my mind.

conkertree · 19/02/2007 16:47

hope i dont annoy anyone by saying this - but i am feeling great. i was feeling rubbish until about 13 weeks, then ok for a week or two but am now 16+5 and feel really great. lots of energy - back running small amounts, and enjoying food.

touch wood that it lasts. have a little mini bump so looking forward to when its big enough to look pregnant but not so big that i feel like a cow.

hope people feel better soon

peanuthead · 19/02/2007 17:49

conkertree - you definitely haven't annoyed me! cheered me up no end! as you can see by the huge amount of postng i'm doing I'm so bored stuck at home, vomming and snoozing and generally fed up and glued to the computer - if you're running again you msut feel great. I finally cancelled my gym membership today conceding I probably won't be up to it - but hey, maybe I will!

so glad to hear you're feeling well - there is hope!

tokentotty · 19/02/2007 17:58

Conkertree I also think it's fantastic you're feeling so well !! Like I said, is great to hear good news as it shines light at the end of the tunnel for everyone.

saturn · 19/02/2007 19:46

conkertree you have given me hope! I'm now 13+1 still suffering morning sickness every morning and generally not feeling too great. Naively expected to feel much better after 12 weeks and start blooming. Although I do seem to have quite a noticeable bump now, much better than just looking like I've got fat!!!

hopefully the rest of us will start feeling better soon...

Loulee · 19/02/2007 19:46

Hi all,
I've just had a fab weekend away up north - with beautiful weather and down to being sick once a day first thing - this is good for me i have to say as once that's over I feel pretty much ok.
Peanut and Beaky - poor you guys. Have to say i was v much the same in my 1st 2 pregnancies - (first 5 months ms and 2nd 7 months ms) and never really felt the blooming feeling. This one is SO much better. It does get better. I'm due end of july now, so quite a biot further ahead i guess.
It's also worth trying things like vit B6 - and all the other siuggestions, just in case any of them work... (this really helped me with relieving ms).
Happy holidays all the jetsetters. baby cryin must go.

Beakyman · 19/02/2007 20:16

Thanks to everyone who's responded to my question about general malaise after first trimester (depressing I know, sorry, Peanuthead!).

I just wanted to get a feel for how other people are coping, or whether I'm a wuss with unrealistic expectations of ms!

Must admit I totally agree with Tokentotty; I hate it when others say, "I loved being preg, it was wonderful and I enjoyed every second". Me: F* off! But I'll make an exception for you Conkertree, saying you feel better!!!!!!!!!

My gym membership has been cancelled too [sob]

GillL · 20/02/2007 14:34

Hi everyone. I have to say I am feeling a lot better today, even though dd had me up at 2:30 this morning. Still feeling a little under par but not as bad as before.

I've actually got quite a noticeable bump now, although there is some fat on the top which makes it look bigger. I always put weight on my tummy. I'm amazed I've got to 14 weeks and I'm still in my normal clothes. I've only got one pair of work trousers that still fit me so dh is going up in the loft today to get my old maternity clothes down. I hope they fit me cos I was a size 10 last pg and now I'm a 14. Last pg I was in maternity clothes at 10 weeks so I was horrified when I read in a magazine that at 17 weeks I will probably start to feel my clothes getting a bit tight.

conkertree · 20/02/2007 15:38

Its strange with clothes cause lots of them that i thought were about the same size are now very different - some i can still fit and some there is no point even trying. must be something to do with how far up the bump they fasten.

conkertree · 20/02/2007 15:41

oh and thanks beakyman for saying you'll make an exception - i certianly haven't felt great the entire time - its just really been the last two weeks, so i'm enjoying it while it lasts.

the more i hear about the later stages, the more i get nervous. not sure i like the thought of breathing being harder and feet up in the ribs etc.

BabyMadwithBump · 20/02/2007 16:18

Hi all, how is everyone?
I'm now 16+4 and we felt the baby moving last week and ever since I've been getting kicks and movment almost all the time, so well happy, we heard the HB too last week when we saw the MW everything so fine HB strong and healthy, had more blood tests done. Been sicky this week and been sick afew times I just hope it's down to tirness and not the dam MS coming back, finger crossed. I have my 20 scan app that will be in about 3 and a half weeks, DH and I really cant wait, we want to know if baby is blue or pink! DH has been buying again bless and MIL too, MIL calls baby bump at the moment as I have a big bump, DH wont stop tuching my bump, I'll have to hand out parking tickets at this rate, lol!!

Hope all are fine and well, GTG DC are ask for their tea bless!

GillL · 20/02/2007 16:54

I've got a consultant appointment in a couple of weeks. I'm looking forward to hearing the hb for the first time. Can't wait to feel the first proper kicks, just felt vague movements so far.

Loulee · 20/02/2007 20:16

Wow Babymad - 16+4 - you keep me on track as i keep forgetting how many weeks I am - know I'm about the same as you? - we're further on than i thought!!!
you're lucky finding out the sex - in Glasgow it's not an option, unless you go private. Policy is not to tell you. ....

conkertree · 20/02/2007 20:55

vague kicks here too - but definately getting a bump if the number of people who have commented on it today is anything to go by. Its funny how so many people mentioned it today when i dont think its grown significantly since yesterday. Is nice though that people dont just think i'm getting fat.

GillL · 21/02/2007 14:15

Now I've gone into more stretchy maternity clothes my bump actually looks like a bump and not fat. When I was wearing my regular trousers with no give at the waist it sort of cut the bump in half and looked awful.

I've only told a few people at work as I work in an office with about 50 people (mainly men) and I don't really want to make an office-wide announcement. I'm just waiting for the first person to mention it but I don't think any man would be that brave!

jem1969 · 21/02/2007 14:49

Hi all- I haven't been on here for ages as got a bit spooked before my 12 week scan but all was well so feeling more confident now. Am now 14+4 and just wondering if anyone is feeling a bit odd in terms of everything being OK re scan etc but symptoms disappearing a bit and not really looking pregnant so all seems a bit unreal. Never was really sick so that hasn't changed but now a bit less tired, boobs less sore etc etc. Clothes are definitely too tight and I've had to venture into maternity jeans but don't really look pregnant until last thing at night when look enormous. I had an amazingly detailed scan at the Fetal medical Centre (going to go there for the 20 week one I think)and very good percentage results given my(old)age so I know everything is looking good but just want it to be more obvious I think! It's my first in case it wasn't obvious by my neurotic ramblings...(Also, has anyone got really itchy skin, on legs especially?)

stretchmarks · 21/02/2007 15:24

HI Jem,

I too am finding these weeks very odd although my bump is growing and as Gil says at least in maternity clothes I look more pregnant than my normal clothes.

I suffer from dry itchy skin alot over the winter but since becoming pregnant it has been worse another thing to blame on the hormones apparantly.

Hope everyone else is well.

Loulee sorry to hear you aren't given the option of finding out the sex it's strange how different hospitals have different policies. We will hopefully be finding out at the 20wk scan we found out with DS and it will be nice to refer to this one as a him or her as I keep changing between the 2 at the moment!!!!!

BabyMadwithBump · 21/02/2007 15:50

stretchmarks I live in derby, I have family in b-o-t, which hospital will you be going to?

stretchmarks · 21/02/2007 15:53

I'm at Queens for care at the mo although if all is well I may actually have the baby at the Samuel Johnson in Lichfield as I had a fairly easy birth with DS1 and although I was keen on having a homebirth much to DH's horror I think the midwife led unit at the Samuel would be a compromise for us.
