lizziemun · 13/02/2007 09:16

Well i have finally got my dating scan date through today it's 2nd March i will be a least 14weeks i mean 6 weeks after my booking in apt.

So i have only got another 3 weeks of worrying that everything is ok.

stretchmarks · 13/02/2007 09:32

HI All,

Well finally I get round to joining this thread.

My stats are :-

Me - 32
DH - 36
EDD - 4th August
DS1 - 3.5
Missed MC - Aug 06
Live Nr Burton on Trent

I had my dating scan last week at 14 weeks and all is well so I am now at last finally beginning to relax.

Loulee · 13/02/2007 10:35

Hi and welcome Stretchmarks and Katie! Glad your scans went well
Not posted in a while as everything just seems to be chugging along (pregnancy wise) and speeding along (work wise). Looking forward to June/July though when all work can stop we can squeeze in a quick trip somewhere hot before babe comes along.

Start antenatal yoga next week - can't wait!

How about we start a new thread everyone? If I have a chance later I'll add in the new stats and do it - but not promising it'll be before next week!!! ......

Ilovebabies - whenever i add a message I see your stats! - where are you in Scotland? you rural or city? we're north Glasgow.

Ilovebabies · 13/02/2007 12:00

I'm in Kinross where t in the park is held

Augustbride · 13/02/2007 13:37

Hi stretchmarks , I am due on 7th Aug and originally from Burton although currently being held against my will the wrong side of the river (wink) in Swadlincote. May bump into you at Queens if that is where you are going.

conkertree · 13/02/2007 13:56

hi everyone - popping on to say hello but dont have a huge amount else to say - feel the same as you loulee - everyhting seems to be going along fine so not much to report.

Moved into my sisters maternity work trousers this week - soooo much more comfortable.

Had midwifes appointment this morning - I always expect something exciting to happen but really its just bloods, blood pressure and urine. Not as glamorous as I imagined. Certainly cant complain about things going well though. Hope everyone else is getting on fine.

stretchmarks · 13/02/2007 15:54

HI Augustbride,

I am under Queens at the moment for ante-natal care but may switch to the Samuel in Lichfield if all goes well with the pregnancy.

Babbit · 14/02/2007 09:57

Hi all. Have been a bit quiet because I have access to internet at work and I only work Mon, Tues and Weds.

Had my scan at the hospital on Monday morning and was very disappointed because they had double the number of patients they were meant to so were dealing with everyone very quickly. We were in the for 1 1/2 minutes. Anyway, picture was rubbish and I wasn't happy with the dating, they put me at 12 plus 5. I decided to book in for a private nuchal test at the Fetal Medicine Centre in Harley Street yesterday morning and although there were delays, it was a much better experience. £150 well spent. We have a 1 in 5193 risk of Down's and she couldn't see any other problems. My dates are 13 plus 5 and EDD is 17 August. Am a lot more excited now and have told work which is a relief.

Hope everyone is feeling well and happy. I guess it is quiet on here because of the hiatus before more tests and scans, and of course bumps appear.

Happy Valentine's Day.

pinkranger · 14/02/2007 10:06

Hi ladies,
I am joining you again, ( i have been watching but just not posting) i pulled out a few weeks ago as there seemed to be so much bad news but i am now 13 weeks and had my dating scan on monday and feel great knowing that all is well.
babbit, i know what you mean about the NHS, i have been having private scans and they are so much more clearer and you just get treated in a nicer way, in a way i wish i could afford to have private midwife care the whole way through!

Most of us have noe hit the 2nd Trimester

shall we start a new thread with updated stats ???
dont mind doing this but CRAp at links

tokentotty · 14/02/2007 11:24

I have to say that after having my scan at the Fetal Centre and then 3 or 4 days later having my NHS one the difference was amazing. Have booked my 20 week back at the Fetal Centre as it made me feel so much better about everything when they showed you every aspect of the baby's development in such clarity. My appt must have lasted about half an hour there and not even 2 minutes in my NHS one.

Babbit · 14/02/2007 12:01

The 20 week scan is a lot more detailed at the hospital and last time we were in there for a lot longer and it was in a different room with different equipment. I am going to stick with Whipps X for my 20 week (even though this is going to take place at 23 weeks!!) and if not satisfied will go back to the FMC.

I can't remember what my dating scan was like with dd, think I cried and was so relieved to see a baby I wasn't concerned about the lack of service that bothered me this time. Def remember the 20 week was a lot better though.

I feel I can start buying maternity clothes now. After dd, I lost a lot of weight so I weighed less than before I was pregnant so when I recently tried on my last lot of maternity clothes they are massive! Good excuse for a spend up. Hope they accept shirt buttons...

tokentotty · 14/02/2007 13:19

Ah ok Babbit. Glad to hear that it gets better at 20 weeks. Know what you mean about waiting at Whipps Cross, I was going to have to wait until I was 23 weeks for my scan as they're so booked up. The nice lady who was doing the bookings said that end of August and September were always insanely busy due to everyone's Christmas & New Year naughtiness!!

conkertree · 14/02/2007 14:00

Its a shame some of you have had not great experiences with the NHS, cause they were so nice to us at our dating scan. I knew there were some people in the waiting room, but she never rushed us at all. The little thing was moving all over the place and she couldnt get a picture so she took a couple just in case, but then tried for ages until she got a better picture. Guess every hospital (and probably every sonographer) is different.

Think my hormones are flying about a bit. In M&S at lunchtime and walked past the stands with pink champagne for valentines day and i just about burst into tears - no idea why.

tokentotty · 14/02/2007 14:08

Am blushing thinking about the wafty hormonal crying as I had a moment on Saturday. Went to the theatre to see Mary Poppins as we got tickets for Christmas from PIL. Despite being knackered and dozing through a lot of the first half (think the tickets were more for DH than me as he loves the film and I'm not sure I've ever seen the whole thing), at the end when Mary flies off into the sky towards the audience I got tearful !!! I mean really, WTF ??? DH was most perplexed but took me to Formes in Covent Garden to buy maternity wear...

Babbit · 14/02/2007 14:50

Lucky you (for getting bought maternity wear at Formes). What did you get?

I want to find a really good pair of jeans but will wait a bit longer. Invaluable.

tokentotty · 14/02/2007 16:05

Actually I did pay myself in the end as I felt soooooo happy about discovering this whole new level of comfort after being stuck in normal jeans with a belt all day. Even joked (well, maybe more of a half joke) about whether I could just wear one of the skirts home like when I was a kid and got new shoes. Anyway, just bought some black, work trousers, black skirt and matching top which could be dressed up if I(ever) go somewhere nice, a couple of basic tops and ordered a pair of those damn sexy maternity jeans....

Hersetta · 14/02/2007 16:37

Hi TT,

was getting worried about you as you haven't posted since your scan so was worried that everything might not be OK.

Had my dating scan today and everything is fine so far - put my date back by 3 days but that's all. Have my Nuchal at the FMC on Friday so looking forward to some better pictures.

tokentotty · 14/02/2007 17:13

Hey Hersetta, that's sweet of you, thanks hun. Glad you've at least had the pleasure of a dating scan. Trust me, the scan at the FMC is going to be really great !! The guy who did mine (Daniele was his name I think) was lovely and they show you so much that I did come out of there kinda walking on air a bit.

Oh, and the pics are great !!

Am a bit confused about my date though, is currently fluctuating between 10th August and 18th at the moment. Still, not the biggest deal.

Have you managed to take things easy or had to go off travelling again ?

Hersetta · 14/02/2007 18:03

No more travelling - just chained to the office. My workings days at the moment are leave home at 6.45am and get home shortly after 10pm so am permenantly knackered. will hopefully be over by the end on the week (fingers crossed!).

My dating scan was a bit brief - they did point things out, like arms and legs, spine, babyy's bladder etc but it was all a bit rushed. Glad the FMC spend a bit more time so we can get some decent pics.

tokentotty · 14/02/2007 19:08

Oh you're kidding love. You must be absolutely exhausted, how on earth are you managing ? I really hope things do calm down for you dramatically when you expect them to.

As for your FMC scan, he showed me all the ventricles of the heart, the stomach, brain, spine etc. They look carefully at the profile of the face (got a great pic of Peanut's face, can see the little mouth open so it's definitely it's mother's child....). Also they show you the blood flow in the baby and the blood flow from you to the baby. They do this quite a few times which is to get an average measurement so don't panic that there's something wrong.

Will you be getting spoilt at all this evening may I ask....?

Anyone here been showered with gifts and treats ?

Hersetta · 14/02/2007 19:23

Just about coping - having long lie in's at the weekend help a lot.

That all sounds great - thanks for the info about what to expect.

No treats tonight - I'm still at work and will be for another hour or two so we're having our meal tomorrow instead (if work allows!) I did get a nice card and a teddy this morning (furry variety, not slinky night attire!).

Hope you have a good one.

twelveyeargap · 14/02/2007 22:27

thread hijack

Tokentotty you naughty minx. Had to stalk you on MN to find out about your weekend. You NEVER shop. Why didn't I hear about this. Tsk.

hijack over - sorry folks

conkertree · 15/02/2007 09:03

morning everyone - no gifts for me - we agreed not to this year as we bought a new (well 2 year old but new for us) car last weekend so money is tight just now.

Anyone else having crazy dreams - i dreamt last night that our baby was taken off us after the first day by our families. They thought we couldnt cope, so sent it away. Eventually found it was with the parents of a girl i used to go to school with, but we didnt have their phone number.

There was a lot of fighting with our families over why they had taken the baby away, and begging them to give us the phone number. Eventually we found it on the internet and phoned up - they were delighted to give us the baby back cause their second daughter was trying to write an essay and couldnt concentrate cause of the crying. So it worked out in the end but was a very panicky dream so didnt get the best sleep.
