Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Loulee · 01/02/2007 16:34

There must be something in the air GillL. I was also feeling better and less tired - today I'm shattered though + the thought of cooking kids tea is doing my head in. I love cooking normally but at the moment can only think of fishfingers!! - and there's only so many days you can eat fish fingers.

How did you get on babymad?

Loulee xx

BabyMadwithBump · 01/02/2007 16:57

Loulee I got on fine thanks for asking dont get to know my results till my consultant writes to me, But fine all the same, I'm also doing fishfingers! LOL

Uki · 01/02/2007 22:54

HI All
I haven't been around here much, But wanted to congratulate everyone on their scans.

I had mine too, and all well, although they had trouble doing the nuchal test because of my reverted uterus.

It finally feels real now, so exciting, that we are now all entering second trimester.

Babymad, it is your third so you wil look bigger. I'm probably looking about 4.5 months myself, a bit hard to hide.

I'm glad some are feeling better now, I have been a little less tired. Even went to see a movie, Babel -very intense though!!!!

conkertree · 02/02/2007 13:38

hi uki - glad everythings going well.

I still cant believe how quickly the bump seems to be forming. Is anyone else noticing it at night? Was thinking of taking another pillow to bed cause it feels a bit like its flopping to the side when i lie on my side and could be more comfortable if supported, but then i think - i'm only 14 weeks - maybe i'm just getting fat from too many sweets.

might try the pillow over the weekend cause i suppose there are no rules for exactly when things should be done.

Loulee · 02/02/2007 14:09

Glad I'm not the only one serving fish fingers! - going to try and do something a bit more inventive tonight.
Though we'll see what happens - still having waves of nausea...

Beakyman · 02/02/2007 21:13

Glad to hear I'm not the only one feeling out of breathe going up the stairs, despite normally being quite fit!

Following the chat about pregnancy treats earlier, I decided to go for an Indian head massage and it was wonderful! Had scan yesterday and that's all fine, so it doesn't seem to have done any harm. Am feeling less tired, but still quite sick/nauseous.

saturn · 03/02/2007 10:23

Hi can I join your thread? I'm 28, DH 31, due date 26th August and this is my first. Been suffering from morning sickness every morning since New Year, but worth it when we saw baby on the scan last week. Wish I'd found this site earlier, so reassuring to know symtoms I'm suffering from are shared by others and are normal! Hope the sickness starts to subside for everyone soon...

Loulee · 05/02/2007 14:21

Welcome saturn! the ms is rubbish isn't it? Mine appears to be subsiding (fingers crossed). Glad your scan went well, mine is tomorrow - wish me luck xx
where is everyone? all gone rather quiet round here.... everyone ok?

GillL · 05/02/2007 14:33

Hi Loulee and welcome Saturn.

It's definitely quiet. I expected to have tons of posts to read.

My ms is still bad. Just feeling nauseous from the moment I wake up til the moment I go to sleep. It was getting better but has been bad again for about a week. Dh thinks it's the Spatone I've started taking but I think it's just a coincidence. Would taking an iron supplement make you feel sick?

I've got my scan on Thursday. I can't wait but I'm dreading having to drink a pint of water in 2 hours and cross my legs. Luckily it's mid morning so I don't have to go to work beforehand.

Hersetta · 05/02/2007 14:59

It is quiet - been wondering where everyone is!!

I think because my scan is next week I've started panic mode about everything being alright again - just as I did before my scan at 7+3.

Convinced myself on Saturday that I hadn't 'felt' like I was pregnant for a few days, no twinges, cramps etc that I had earlier on. Sat and blubbed and asked tummy to let me know everything was ok - couple of hours later had 10 mins of cramps and a couple of twinges, so that me blub as well as I felt so relieved!

What are pregnant woman like. We convince ourselves that something is wrong when we have bad symptons, and we do the same when we have no symptons at all ! Feel really bad as I made DH worry as well which he doen't need a he's going into hospital later on for an operation on his nose to help with his breathing (his nose is completly blocked and he can't breathe through it at all and has no sense of smell).

Hope everyone else is OK.

Loulee · 05/02/2007 15:00

Hey again, Must admit I'm mooching round here cos i'm skiving and kids are away out. Hope the scan goes well Giill - had sort of forgotten about all the water - I've been psching myself up for managing to get all 4 of us to the hospital (and the girls in the creche there) for 9am, that i forgot about the water!
ok, to work. have a good day everyone.

conkertree · 05/02/2007 16:47

hi - suppose i dont have much to say really - trousers feeling very tight but apart from that - just looking forward to feeling the baby move - that seems to be the next milestone for me - can feel the bump pretty much at my tummy button, but apart from lots of tiredness in the evenings, that seems to be about it for symptoms just now.

Have been thinking i'd like to get an idea of prams etc in the second trimester -not buy anyhting till the third, but just do the ground work while i feel energetic and not huge, cause i dont really know what to expect later.

saturn · 05/02/2007 20:45

All the best for the scan tomorrow Loulee and Gill on Thursday.

Is everyone having the blood test at 15 weeks? The midwife said if I take it and am at high risk I will be expected to take the amnio, where there is a risk of miscarriage and if I'm not prepared to take the amnio then there is no point taking the blood test - but they do have false negatives/false positives.

Unsure what to do, any advice?

Loulee · 05/02/2007 20:58

Thanks Saturn!
Re: blood tests and nuchal - I've not had them and didn't with dd1 or dd2 - but i think I'm in a minority on this thread - think most others have had them? I didn't have the tests for the very reasons you're raising - not 100% accurate, not prepared to have an amnio and friends having false positives. It's a very personal decision though and I'm sure many others here will say the complete opposite to me.
There's lots of past threads on mn about this probably going into lots of details of the pros and cons, maybe try a search?

lizziemun · 05/02/2007 21:41

Hello not posted for a few days.

Can things get any worse.

My dad differently has cancer we are just waiting to find out type, best case senario it just lung cancer worse case senario it is asbestosis.

I have a stinking cold along with dd, and now my freind has just rung to say her dd who was at dd birthday party has chicken pox.

I am still waiting for my date scan to come through to confirm my date i am anywhere from 10+4 to 15+4.

GillL · 06/02/2007 10:43

Hi Saturn. No one's mentioned the blood test to me but even if I did have it and the results were bad I still wouldn't have the amnio. Apart from the risks of mc I don't think I would be prepared to do anything about it if it did turn out that there were problems.

Babbit · 06/02/2007 11:39

Hi Saturn. My midwife told me the same thing; unless I am prepared to have an amnio there is no point having the blood test. I had the blood test last time and there was no fuss made and I wonder why they are so negative now. However, I have decided not to have the blood test as I do not think I would have an amnio (my mum had one with my brother and said of having 3 children - one of them breach - the amnio was the most unpleasant experience of all) and going further ahead, i'm not sure I would terminate if they found I was at high risk). This is a completely personal decision and if you want the blood test and then decide, don't be put off.

myweegirl · 06/02/2007 11:46

hi lizziemun - sorry to hear about your dad. it's very hard when you get news like that. i'm sure the dr's etc are doing everything they can and will work out what the best treatment for him is.

hope your cold gets better - and that dd doesn't get chickenpox (though at least that would be it over and done with)buy some calomine lotion and medised (for the antihistime and paracetamol) just in case!

lizziemun · 06/02/2007 12:11

myweegirl

Yes the Dr's are now getting things under control with dad, so although thinks don't look great he is trying to be positive.

I know, one part me would like dd to get chicken pox to get out of the way an the other side thinks i'm so tired having a week of dd suffering with a cold and now a week of me having a cold can i cope with dd having another week or two of dd being ill.

On the plus side because i have had chicken pox me and bump should be ok.

Hope everyone else is having a better time.

conkertree · 06/02/2007 12:47

i take it if you've had chicken pox then there is no danger to you or the bump then? purplerabbits ds has it just now and she has been told by the nurse that she has to come for an appointment on friday - she doesnt know why cause she's had it, and if it was serious surely they'd get her in sooner, so it seems a bit pointless.

lizziemun · 06/02/2007 12:55

I phone my midwife this morning and she told me that as i had already had chicken pox i have ammunity (sp) to it so me and bump will be ok.

I was also told this when pg with dd when dh neices had it but i was about 35wks then.

PurpleRabbit · 06/02/2007 21:12

Think it was just the triage nurse being very cautious - it was DH who phoned about DS's chicken pox, so he couldn't tell them whether I'd had it or not. I'll go to the appointment anyway, but everything I've looked up today agrees with what Lizziemun was told, so I'm not worried.

Haven't been able to post since last Tuesday when I had my dating scan - it agreed with my dates, so EDD is 8th August. Had CUBS scan on Thursday, which was even better - got to see hands and feet, and when I told DS to look at the baby on the screen the baby waved!

saturn · 06/02/2007 21:26

Thanks for the advice Loulee, GillL and Babbit. My gut feeling is not to have the test, but not 100% sure yet - will let you know.

Sorry to hear about your dad lizziemun, can't imagine how you must be feeling.

stevie74 · 07/02/2007 14:47

Hi all, got my 12wk scan tommorow. Bit nervous but i think thats just standard for all of us.
Haven't been referred for booking appt or midwife etc as yet tho - have you all had this by now?
My GP is rubbish so not alot surprises me but you'd of thought where pg is concerned they'd do something right!!

kaata · 07/02/2007 15:14

Hi girls. I'm sorry I haven't been here for a while.
But I have good news - I had my scan last week - at 10+0 (decided for a private scan as you recommended me here - due to a long haul flight this weekend.) It showed all is good - baby was moving a lot and the photos are very clear! It was amazing to see it and to know that all is going fine.
Hope you will all have the same results!
Had my midwife appt last week also - she took my blood for tests and we went through the medical history.
She told me I should avoid peanuts - even though I have no allergy. It's hard not to munch on my favourite peanut butter!
All the best to you!
