Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Ilovebabies · 28/01/2007 11:24

Hi
I've got my scan tomorrow, one minute i'm excited and the next i'm s h i t t i n g myself. Don't think i was this worried with my 2ds's but keep reading all these things on forums about things that can go wrong. Don't think i knew about half of this the other times!
Everything seems to be going as it should but still v scared.

Here's hoping everything goes ok tomorrow.

Loulee · 28/01/2007 12:28

Ilovebabies - I'm sure it'll all be fine tomorrow - let us know how you get on. I know what you mean - I never worried nearly as much as I have with this pregnancy - and with dd1 even told people before the scan!

redtent - have the insomnia too! - and last night dd2 slept through the night with no feeding for the first time in ages! - sods law that i was awake!!

loler · 28/01/2007 12:40

Good luck with the scan - I too know what you mean about being more worried this time. I keep over analysising everything - I don't feel sick therefore somethings gone wrong, I feel too sick therefore somethings gone wrong!

I haven't had a scan date through yet but will be a jibbering wreak when I have to go. Let us know what happens.

Babbit · 29/01/2007 10:00

Hi BibiThree - Congratulations. How are you feeling now? Shocked I'll bet. I saw the midwife on Wednesday. My fundal height is 14 weeks so she says I am either 4 weeks further along or it's twins... Have scan on 12 Feb and am terrified! Think it is more likely to be 14 weeks than twins but am on the edge of my seat. DH convinced it's twins. He has always said the he 'knows' we will have twins. Do you have twins in your family? Which side?

GillL · 29/01/2007 12:39

Congrats Bibi. I'm sure it will be fine. I don't know why but I have convinced myself I'm having twins and I haven't even had a scan yet. There are twins on both sides of the family though. I think my mind's playing tricks on me. I had a dream the other night that I had a baby boy and my mum insisted he was called Patrick!

BibiThree · 29/01/2007 13:16

There are no twins in my family on either side, but identical ones aren't a genetic hand-me-down I don't think.

Still in shock.

Good luck for your scans Babbit and Gill!

tokentotty · 29/01/2007 13:32

How's your dh taken the news bb3 ?

Babbit · 29/01/2007 14:28

I think I am 14/15 weeks though because over the last week I have started to feel it move. Am getting v. excited and can't wait for scan.

Bibi - do you currently work? (in paid employment I mean). When she first mentioned about me having twins I thought oh god I won't be able to return to work. This reaction took me quite by surprise!

tokentotty · 29/01/2007 14:38

Really Babbit - you think you can feel your baby moving ??? Was just told today that it's unlikely to happen 'til 20-24 weeks (and more likely the later as it's my first) and couldn't believe it as it seemed SO far along and I felt really disappointed. How can you bear to wait until 12th Feb..!!!!

tokentotty · 29/01/2007 14:39

How can you bear to wait until 12th Feb for your scan that was supposed to be..

Babbit · 29/01/2007 14:41

You can feel your first at about 18 weeks and earlier if it is your 2nd or more. Who told you 20-24? They may have meant that is when your DH will be able to feel it. (although from memory this is more like 28 weeks.)

Babbit · 29/01/2007 14:45

TT - am trying to be patient re scan but am getting v. anxious. I was hoping the m/w would try and get me in earlier but apparently they are accurate (for dating) up to 16 weeks now. May have to go straight from scan to blood test if I want Down's screening and my scan shows I am 16 + weeks. M/w was trying to put me off this saying that it is only worth doing if I am prepared to have amnio. Why is it all health professionals have different advice???

BibiThree · 29/01/2007 15:03

DH is thrilled if a little scared too. I currently ahve a 2 yo dd and work 4 days a week, but I think that's going to go down to 3 days and then pay through the nose for childcare!

I felt dd move at 19+5, my m/w told me it had a lot to do with your fat layers and thinner women tend to feel it earlier. I wasn't exactly thin then (sz 14) but not huge either.

lizziemun · 29/01/2007 15:09

Babbit

I know what you mean about your scan i have just had my booking in apt, i am a least 9weeks but could be 14wks as the date my last af was very light (could have been a implation bleed). I should get a date by the end of the week.

The midwife has said she will stay with the 9 weeks date as if i am 14 weeks i will not get a scan for at least 6 weeks (at 20 Weeks), so i will just have to wait for dating scan to find what my date will be.

She was also trying to talk me of the triple test as i have said that i waould not have an
amnio because of the risks.

Ilovebabies · 29/01/2007 15:32

Had my scan and everything looks fine so i can start to relax a little now. Measured at 12 wks exact so my edd is 13 Aug. My ds first day at school!!

Loulee · 29/01/2007 15:37

Waiting for scans - god, i know what you mean - maybe it feels longer cos I'm constantly thinking about it / reading about s.o else who has just had one etc - a watched pot never boils or whatever the saying is! I'm a week tomorrow now when I'll be about 15 weeks i think.

Must admit, I'm of the same opinion as your mw's babbit and lizziemum - I don't see the point of having a test that isn't 100% accurate if you're not willing to have the next stage (amnio). I have too many friends who have had inaccurate test results. - very personal decision though and i guess everyone has their reasons.

Loulee · 29/01/2007 15:37

ilovebabies - great news!

tokentotty · 29/01/2007 15:42

Oh Ilovebabies am soooo pleased for you !! Love hearing news like that xx

stevie74 · 29/01/2007 15:50

Hi there. I'm 32 (DH 28) and found out on Thursday i'm 10+3 wks (had a EPU scan due to pains!) EDD 24/08. I have x2 DD's, 1st aged 2.5yrs & 2nd 15mths, so will have 3 under 3.5yrs - I must be mad .
Hope you don't mind me joining you on this thread....

tokentotty · 29/01/2007 15:55

Congratulations Stevie74 !!! Think it's gonna be pretty damn hectic in your house come August...

stevie74 · 29/01/2007 15:57

Thanks TT, wasn't exactly planning on this, however my other treasures weren't planned either so I guess I should've learned my lesson by now!! Fingers x'd this time tho for a boy - add a lil testosterone to the balance

tokentotty · 29/01/2007 16:50

Well I hope you get your wish. And some GREAT babysitting help !!

loler · 29/01/2007 20:39

babbit- I was sent by mw for early scan with ds as she thought fundal height was too big for my dates (which I knew were right) - turned out he was just carried high and stayed same through whole pg. I think the tummy feeling thing seems have little science to it!!! Good luck with the scan though - I bet if it turns out to be just one you'll be a bit disappointed, I know my illogical side was!

Still not got a scan date and getting really itchy for one. Don't think I can keep the news quiet much longer - do keep letting it slip to friends!

loler · 29/01/2007 20:44

Bibi - congratulations - my biggest concern would be having to come up with 4 possible names (2 boys and 2 girls!)

Babbit · 30/01/2007 11:28

Wow, at the moment the prospect of 2 is scary. I can't imagine 3! How do you all do it? Either super organised or very easy going I imagine.

Hope everyone else is well and the ms and tiredness is easing.

Loler, they should have sent a scan date by now, surely! Think I would chase it up if I were you cos they may have missed you. I agree this fundal height thing is a very inexact science. I was told last time I was having a big baby (I am 5 ft 2) right up to the minute I delivered her, and she was 5 lb 9 oz (she was 2 weeks early). All the scans showed her to be over the 50 centile mark, and the midwife measured me always at 1 - 2 weeks above. I will just have to see what scan brings. Only 12 days to go...
