Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
tokentotty · 26/01/2007 10:56

Erm.....hands up to being a first time thickie ok, but - what's a fundal ?

(Hello and welcome lilstarry !!)

BibiThree · 26/01/2007 11:13

Okay, so it's twins.

tokentotty · 26/01/2007 11:30

You ok bibi ?

Hersetta · 26/01/2007 12:52

TT- I'm at the Fetal medicine Centre too for my Nuchal - mines on 16th Feb (will be 12+5) and my NHS dating scan in on 14th Feb so hopefully lots of nice pictures that week.

They were very nice at the FMC when I went for my viability scan at 7 weeks.

Kiteflying - I am due 27th August so very near you - I think there are quite a few around that date as well.

tokentotty · 26/01/2007 13:40

Oh of course, I remember you mentioning you were going to the FMC now I think about it. Glad you've said they're nice as am bound to be nervous.

Loulee · 26/01/2007 13:55

babymad, I'm due the 3rd too! - but if I go ahead with elective cs, i guess it'll be the last week in July - though i'd like to leave it as late as possible. I've been about 5 days late with both of mine.
BB3 - twins, how exciting. Is this your first? sorry can't find your stats..

tokentotty · 26/01/2007 14:47

Hersetta, (and anyone else who knows) you're going to have your NHS scan AND the private one a couple of days after correct ?? I said I was going to do that, have the private one first with DH and then ask PIL if they wanted to come with me to the NHS one but DH is now saying he doesn't think I should have 2 scans in such quick succession as it could be dangerous ?????? I wouldn't have given it a thought to be honest - any opinions ?

GillL · 26/01/2007 14:56

Blimey. I can't believe how many posts there have been since yesterday when I last posted. It's been so quiet most of this week.

Anyway, I had been feeling much better but at the moment I feel really drained. Glad it's Friday and nearly home time.

DH told me yesterday that my sil said how 'huge' I looked! I couldn't believe it as I don't even have a bump. So basically what I take from that is she's saying I'm fat. I'm a bit overweight but not that much. I can't imagine why anyone would say something so insensitive, especially another pregnant woman.

Hersetta · 26/01/2007 15:00

TT

That's right I am.

I read on website that there are no risks associated with having an ultrasound to the baby as they don't use any form of radiation so am happy to go ahead on that basis.

tokentotty · 26/01/2007 15:26

Thanks for that Hersetta - appreciate you letting me know. Thought it was a nice gesture to ask the out-laws if they wanted to see a scan (having had 2 boys they've never been to one and I have no parents to take). Will invite them this weekend although will have to make FIL promise not to cry.....

GillL sorry to hear you're tired and that someone's being mean. I have to confess that I really am showing and looking at least a month past what I am. Is embarrassing as have already had to buy new clothes.

Regarding the tiredness and feeling drained, the mid-wife I'm going to use for this pg has instructed me to immediately head to Holland & Barrett to buy Floridix (sp). It's available in tablet and syrup and is an iron supplement (she says to take the syrup if you've got any constipation probs) and it will REALLY help with the tired/drained feelings. Off to find some this weekend !

kaata · 26/01/2007 16:04

Hello girls, wow I can't keep up with all the new posts since yesterday!

I started to feel very nervous today after readig (stupid me!) about 'missed abortions'...so scared and hoping it would not be my case.

I'm having my first scan on 20 Feb - I will be 13 weeks then. I have a long-haul flight for a company's weekend out at the beginning of Feb and asked if they can take the scan before that, for a piece of mind and at least check the heartbeat and that it's developing ok - they were so awful in their response and said 'sorry we are too busy'.

Don't know what to do now, I'm considering a private scan - do you have any recommendations where to look? (I live in SW London). Many thanks!

tokentotty · 26/01/2007 16:19

Hey Kaata,

Try not to freak yourself out too much, although I know it's hard. Why not try The Fetal Medical Centre in Harley St ? Hersetta had an early scan there and it's where we're having our 12 week(ish) scans.

Give 'em a call and make an enquiry: 020 7486 0476

x

kaata · 26/01/2007 16:25

Hi tokentotty,

Thank you so much! Will look at them right now and try to speka with them to arrange it! Harley St...isn't it too expensive?

Will give them a call in any case, many many thanks! Have a great weekend,

X

BabyMadwithBump · 26/01/2007 16:32

Fundal

tokentotty · 26/01/2007 16:41

Thanks babybump....thinking I probably shouldn't have opened that at work though!!!! Someone who just walked behind me is now very, very confused as to what I'm up to on a Friday afternoon !!! Hahahahahahhaa !

Kaata, to be honest I haven't asked them yet how much that place is but if in doubt, look up any private hospital near you and get them to tell you their charge. I think the average I've heard is about £100.

Hersetta · 26/01/2007 17:34

That's right. A viability scan is £100 and the fuchal with blodd tests is £150.

Not too bad for peace of mind.

I had my scan 4 days befor I had to fly to Chicago so it gave me great peace of mind to know everthing was OK before I left.

Loulee · 26/01/2007 18:20

TokenT - have to say the floradix is great - get the liquid formula - hard not to overdose though cos it tastes delicious!

tokentotty · 27/01/2007 09:12

Really Loulee ?? Was worried about that as am rubbish at taking stuff that tastes horrid. How's it made you feel - a significant improvement ?

BibiThree · 27/01/2007 11:36

Guess what? I'm having TWINS! Oh my goodness! Had the scan yesterday and am still v much in shock. Anyone else due in August with twins?

BibiThree · 27/01/2007 11:38

I'm so ditzy I'd forgotten i'd already posted. I'm a bit all over the palce, twins were the last thing we were expecting and we're wondering how on earth we're going to cope in a small house with 3 under 4!

redtent · 27/01/2007 13:45

Bibi ((hugs)) I am sure once it sinks in you will feel better. I think have lots of little ones can be daunting but I look at my 2 and think heck- the fun makes up for the stress!!

I have been recomended Floradix too- but have heard that spatone is better for pregnancy (as it is natural).. Just bought some today from H&b.. they sell it in boots too. I am hoping this (lack of iron) accounts for my exhaustion so will luk if the spatone helps!!

I can seem to stay well atm- cols bug s more colds all mixed in with 24/7 nausea and sickness = last pregnancy for me!! lol

Hope everyone else is doing ok

redtent · 27/01/2007 13:45

eta- spatone is meant to be kinder on constapation also

Loulee · 27/01/2007 20:23

TokenT - yes the floradix did really help with the fatigue and getting my iron levels up - so kept the midwives happy too. Didn't find any constipation - only when i took normal iron tablets.
Floradix ( and I would guess spatone too?) has much lower levels of iron in it than the "normal" tablets - this is because your body can't absorb the type of levels that are put in the tablets.

Having sung it's praises, I'm not actually taking it this time round as I'm taking a multivitamin which has definitely eased the fatigue - and the ms too, so don't dare stop in case the ms comes on stronger!

Redtent: Must say i thought floradix was natural too? It's certainly marketed that way.

Loulee · 27/01/2007 20:31

BB, meant to say how exciting! - and meant to second what redtent was saying - yes it's a bit chaotic with lots of little ones - we will also have a baby, a 2 and 4yr old, but I think it will be wonderful - wonderfully crazy, but still wonderful. Give it time to sink in.
I guess the jump will be difficult at the beginning, but you just get on with it, don't you?

redtent · 27/01/2007 20:44

loulee
I think they are both natural- spatone is basically water from a spring that is naturally high in Iron. I think Floradix contains a bit more than that....

My fear is that I aleady am suffering from constipation and am hoping the spatone will not make it any worse.

heartburn has started and insomnia- already sigh .... I keep telling DH remind me about this when I get broody again... he just laughs.
