Conkertree, I've heard good things about the nct glasgow classes - when i was pg with dd1 they booked up too fast so i just did the nhs ones (and was also doing a yoga/birth class that was run by a doula - which was great - exercise at beginning and then question time at the end.) So I'd book asap if you want to do them. i think it was over a weekend.
Not doing any this time round! - just yoga which i start in a month - can't wait. Would really recommend - but gets booked up fast also.
Where are you based conkertree? Are you rural? Any snow? it's snowing here today - though rather horrible sleaty.
Uki - lovely news

GillL · 18/01/2007 13:57

I've been having trouble with my mum telling everyone because I hadn't specifically told her it was a secret. I thought she'd have assumed that from last time. I got annoyed when she told the mums of the kids she looks after. That was until she explained it was because she wanted to give them plenty of notice that she will need a week off when the baby is born. I thought that was really nice of her. She was invaluable last time. She came round a couple of days in a row so we could get some sleep.

conkertree · 18/01/2007 14:06

based in a wee village just outside kilsyth. Work in Stirling and its crazy how a wee bit of snow has caused so much trouble. We have 14 in our office and till 10, there were only 3 of us (and I probably live the furthest away). Most are in now, but its taken till lunchtime. I grew up in the North East and if they acted like this on every snowy day, nothing would be open for half the winter.

tokentotty · 18/01/2007 14:51

Am finding work today a complete and utter drag....am bored and want to skip out of here to freedom. Anyone fancy coming out to play ?

Oh, actually. Considering the weather perhaps it's not a good idea to be doing that and I should be grateful that am tucked up in my warm office.

Bored, bored, bored...!!!

treacletart · 18/01/2007 17:06

Hi all. I'm Super tired and still feeling very sick - especially when I'm hungry, I'm eating or I've just eaten, also if I have to bend over. I'm now 10 and a bit weeks and officially further along than my last pregnancy, I'm still nervous but feeling positive and I'm taking my tiredeness and nausea as good signs. Won't tell DS till after my nuchal at 12 weeks but he's very well primed and we quite often say maybet thre's a baby inside me making me sick but we dont know for sure yet. We took the same line last time and it worked well. When we went for the scan, he knew we were going to see if there was a baby inside me or not. We were able to tell him that there wasn't and that DH and I might be a little sad for a while. I was glad we had been so open with him. He's also scarily well versed in childbirth - the other morning he told me that if I had a baby I would say "Aaaaagh" and then the baby will come out of a hole between my legs where I don't have a willy.

Hersetta · 19/01/2007 12:27

Morning ladies - you're all quiet today.

I'm back from my trip to CHicago and am working at home today due to no trains running on my line today.

I felt pretty rough yesterday and my tummy was doing sommersaults for much of it - a 3 hour journey home from work didn't help much either.

Still feeling mostly fine today after a good nights sleep - I am hungry every 2/3 hours though but when I do eat I get full up very quickly which isn't like me at all as I can usually eat a horse.

Hope every one is feeling OK today.

tokentotty · 19/01/2007 12:37

Hi Hersetta, welcome back. How was the trip, all ok ??? Hope you got very well taken care of in business class

Know what you mean about the being hungry but not actually being able to consume a huge amount - finding it very frustrating !! We've ordered a desk lunch of indian food and can't wait. Just know I'm going to be disappointed when I can't eat loads and loads.

Hersetta · 19/01/2007 12:58

Hi TT,

yes trip was fine - very cold there though minus 10 at times!. BC was very nice - even managed to get a couple hours sleep on the flight back.

When I was in the US I just ordered a starter and was full after that - I'd have had no chance with a main course.

Very strange for me - I love my nosh.

conkertree · 19/01/2007 16:03

hi everyone - just checking in before the weekend starts.

feel strangely down just now - really want to snap out of it, cause everything with the pg is going well, we had the scan and everything so really i should be very very happy, but just feel down and cant explain it. Hopefully will recharge the batteries at the weekend. Hope you all have good weekends, and speak to you on Monday

hoohoo · 19/01/2007 18:45

Hi everyone...hope everyone is well. Finally got my scan date (was beginning to panic, thinking they'd forgot about me!) Anyway its on valentine Day when i should be 14 weeks so fingers crossed for some nice clear pictures!

Hersetta · 20/01/2007 10:58

Hoohoo,

mine is on the same day - 9.30am at Addenbrookes in Cambridge. I'm also having a private nuchal 2 days later in London.

Hope things go well on the 14th for us both !!

Loulee · 20/01/2007 17:01

Hi all,
conkertree - sorry to hear you're feeling down, hopefully now it's gone - remember you have a million hormones whizzing around your body at the moment.
I'm still waiting on the scan - 6th feb for me, feels so far away - just want to see everything is ok. Think I'll be nearly 15 weeks by then - probably my own fault - should've gone to the doctors sooner...
anyway, hope everyones having a good weekend. LL x

nicknackpaddywack · 20/01/2007 19:42

Finally got my scan date through as well - same days as hoohoo's - Valentines day! What a nice day to have a scan on

Beakyman · 21/01/2007 11:07

Hi all, hope you're having a good weekend.

Catalepticdru - don't worry, I feel quite down at the moment too and I remember I did at about the same time last pregnancy. I think its to do with nothing in life being much fun any more!!! There's the constant nausea, the tiredness, work seems extra hard, can't even face to going to the gym to get an endorphin hit )-:
On top of all that, we can't enjoy a glass of wine or even a cup of coffee!!!! Never mind the hormones..........

If anyone's got any tips to cheer us up......?!

treacletart · 21/01/2007 12:48

Hi all! DS woke with Chickenpox this morning. Reckon I should be OK and my mum swears blind I've had it, but on Mumsnetters advice I'll be seeing GP tomorow to get my antibodies checked out. Hope everyone else is OK - its been very quiet lately hasn't it?

GillL · 22/01/2007 11:33

Hi everyone. I didn't have a very good weekend. For some reason my headaches are so much worse at weekends. I was in bed at 7pm last night and had to drag myself out of bed at 7 this morning. I'm feeling much better now but was seriously tempted to stay at home.

I'm the same with my food. I used to be able to eat loads. But now I can be starving and only be able to eat half the amount I used to. It's very annoying when I'm really enjoying my dinner (dh is a good cook). Sometimes I keep the rest and eat it a bit later. The way I look at it is I've lost weight in the first trimester which should prevent me from putting on too much later on and I'm sure I'll make up for it.

I had my booking in appointment on Friday which was ok. I had a 3rd year midwifery student. She was very nice but if I hadn't mentioned that I had consultant care due to my hypthyroidism, I don't think she'd have referred me this time. I wouldn't have necessarily worried though. I probably would have just made sure I got the doctor to check it every so often.

Babbit · 22/01/2007 12:22

Hi all. I've been feeling rubbish too, mainly due to exhaustion but also a horrid cold that my dd brought home from nursery.

GillL, my 22 month old is a handful too! I am hoping it's a phase. She is well behaved, but is full of beans and needs constant attention which can be draining, especially at the moment when I feel so tired anyway. At the moment I can't leave a room without her wanting a "uddle" or holding my legs.

Conkertree, I know what you mean about feeling down and I think it is quite normal. I feel that way too some of the time, even though this baby is much wanted and I should be jumping for joy. Blame the hormones.

Hope everyone else is feeling OK.

Babbit · 22/01/2007 12:23

P.S. Beakyman, I'm afraid I have been enjoying cups of coffee and the odd glass of wine!!

Loulee · 22/01/2007 16:42

yeah, things to cheer you up when pregnant - always a good idea - i find a bit of retail therapy does the trick - cosmetics / nice face/body creams - and in last pregnancy aromatherapy oils were always a lovely treat - and meant a really mellow bath to chill out. In fact, that will now be my plan for the night

redtent · 22/01/2007 17:11

Hi all,

Scan went well. I cried in the loo afterwards I was so relieved to see a living baby!!

I went into toon to buy a little outfit to make it more real (dh said do it!!) and i couldn't... cos I had a really strong feeling about the sex I just couldn't buy gender neutral.

M/s is getting worse for me- not better. Today I can't even keep water down... hoping it is just a bug that will pass and I'll get some relief soon.

Still in normal clothes- nit bad for a 3rd pregnancy!!

ITA about pregnancy treats- neccesities imo. I am getting some earth mama angel baby stuff

Hope everyone is doing ok

Beakyman · 22/01/2007 21:16

I agree, I think a spot of retail therapy might well hit the spot!

I haven't been avoiding wine /coffee deliberately, its just that like so much at the moment, they seem really unappealing. Yes, really!!!!!!!

Our baby is very much wanted too. It just seems such a long time ago (just 6 weeks) since the euphoria of a bfp, now that the reality of m/s and general unwellness is kicking in. . It will be worth it tho.

loler · 22/01/2007 22:07

I finally got around to getting pg confirmed and saw mw on Friday. Asked her about being so tired all the time - her responce was 'I'm suprised that you're suprised you're tired - having two lively (que screaming kids running through living room like loons!) children to look after and a parasite sucking your energy!' - never thought of dh as a parasite before

Had a rubbish weekend - rotten cold friday night so was allowed lie in on Sat. Sickness bug on Sat night (thought ms was bad!) and couldn't get up on Sunday! Don't know how I'll stay awake at work tomorrow!

Glad of all the good news on the scans - so what gender do you think it is redtent? Am getting really nervous about mine (much more than have before).

conkertree · 23/01/2007 09:01

Hi everyone - great to hear about your scan redtent - its such a relief to see it dancing about isnt it.

Sounds like everyone needs a really good dose of retail or other therapy. Think it took a couple of days after the scan for it to sink in with me that we are actually having a baby - dont know if that sounds silly. But started feeling much more cheerful yesterday and finally felt it was ok to look at things like prams on the internet, just to get an idea of what was out there.

Also saw that there is a Baby Show in Glasgow in April at the SECC (think there are ones in London and fun to go along to. And hopefully by April, we will actually look pregnant - my work trousers are starting to get a little tight already though.

BabyMadwithBump · 23/01/2007 09:07

Had a bad day yesterday, it's was half 8 getting the boys sorted for school when I started getting really bad pains in lower back and lower tummy, really bad cramp pains, carried on thinking it would past, on the way back from school at just gone 9 and I was almost doubling over with pain, it was so like labour were as the "rise and fall" and "peck and rest" waves IYSWIM I went back to bed thinking the worsed but at about 11 it went away and now I'm fine I really don't know what it was all about, but really worried now, really has knocked me for six as you let your grad down when you hit over 12 weeks I don't see my MW for another 2 and a half weeks so what do I do? or do I carry on and hope for the best (no blood at all)?
Still feeling drained and I think fingers crossed that the sickness is wearing off! Good sign or bad?
oh I don't know!
Babymadxx

Babbit · 23/01/2007 09:31

Don't know what to say Babymad other than if you are worried you should get it checked out if just to put your mind at rest. It could be something as simple as trapped wind (an unfortunate condition I suffered last time!!), which is surprisingly uncomfortable and similar to period pains / contractions. Good luck.
