So many of us having growth scans-I have one tomorrow but it's predominantly to check if my low lying placenta has moved. But I was measuring almost 2 weeks too big at 28 weeks so midwife said to ask about measurements too.
We've pretty much decided on our boys name but are down to three on girls. My front runner at the moment is the same as yours eastend but DH isn't convinced and the other two are his favourites.

JellyBaby26 · 13/04/2016 07:08

I don't think you realise how many people you dislike until you have to name a child!!

We have had one for a long time but a few weeks back we started throwing others in the mix. I'm very picky and only really like classic names and want one that can be shortened and there aren't that many for boys! I also love alliteration which basically leaves me with 3 choices. ..

Love the name Iona and Florence!

I have my appointment with consultant in 2 weeks and a scan and will then get my date. I find it so hard to comprehend that I'm 32 weeks already (tomorrow) and probably only have 7 weeks to go !

ILovePies · 13/04/2016 07:11

divergent we are the same, hate the fact people think it's okay to negatively comment on your baby's name before it's here, then as soon as it arrives everyone says how lovely it is!
Violet hope the growth scan went okay last night & yours goes well today pot. I'm really excited to see baby again :)

emma85x · 13/04/2016 07:44

My MW has never even measures my bump (31 weeks tomorrow) I have an appointment with her on Friday so will make sure she does! Baby feels big plus I have a high bmi so a growth scan might reassure me. Good luck to everyone with upcoming growth scans. On the topic of growth!.... When do stretch marks kick in? I only have about three bug have been religiously applying bio oil! Do they come thick and fast in the last few weeks?? Hoping not! Smile

JellyBaby26 · 13/04/2016 07:52

Emma I didn't get stretch marks until about 36 weeks. I got one and then they just went mad. Absolutely covered in them!! Doesn't happen to everyone though so you may be one of the lucky ones!

booked83 · 13/04/2016 08:00

*jelly I love traditional names my son is Alex n my daughter is Charlotte (she is 9 so well before princess Charlotte lol!)

JellyBaby26 · 13/04/2016 08:10

Dd was going to be charlotte but we changed as the Princess was born 3 weeks before ours and didn't want to hear "oooh like the princess"!

We did call her charlotte for a while though until we got used to her name 😄

strawberrypenguin · 13/04/2016 08:14

still plenty of time for stretch marks I'm afraid emma and not anything you can do to stop them if your going to get them!

mrsmugoo · 13/04/2016 08:51

I got quite a few stretch marks in the last 2-3 weeks but they faded to a very pale silvery white and I've subsequently worn bikinis and felt absolutely fine and confident. None have reared yet this pregnancy but really, don't worry about them. I know it's a bit of a cliche to say they're a badge of honour but honestly, they are!

laughingGnomette · 13/04/2016 09:26

They're not guaranteed emma.
That said, I got mine at about 39 weeks last time after thinking I'd escaped them!!

Still undecided on names, I think we'll make a short list and decide what suits the baby when he arrives.

I'm still hideously tired all the time but I've noticed the baby is moving with a lot more frequency so I think he is sapping all my energy away. Getting in practice for the next 18 or so years!! Hmm

cautiousoptimist1 · 13/04/2016 11:11

I love all of your names so far. I really wanted Arthur if ours is a boy but DH isn't keen at all.

I had my 31 week appointment today with the GP, measuring exactly where I should be but the MW already told me that they only refer for growth scans here if you're measuring small which seems a bit unusual.

I now have the challenge of finding a maternity dress for a wedding I'm going to in May. My usual style is quite plain and simple and i wouldn't choose a maxi dress ever so I'm struggling to find one that's "me".

MrsSparkles · 13/04/2016 12:05

I just posted about my rude work colleague who told me how fat I'd got - charming! Also measuring large, but they suspect I'll be early again so not too concerned!

We've got a couple of possibilities for names but really struggling to agree, and have to decide as we need to apply for a passport asap!

jellybelly85 · 13/04/2016 12:24

cautious I have a dress dilemma too! Went to a funeral on Monday and a topshop eBay bargain got me through that. Unsure how much bigger I'm going to get - wedding is when I'll be 37 weeks. For simple but quite ££ there is Isabelle Oliver, or Seraphine website.

We have some names lined up but nothing decided - we want to meet baby first before deciding. Also ploy to avoid getting unwanted negative feedback on names too...

Feeling a bit weird today. Just found out my request to transfer my job has been declined. I can apply again in August, which is fine for maternity leave timing, but just leaving me a bit anxious as there is no guarantee. Also very weird that I'm not expected back at work for a whole year.

cheshirem2b · 13/04/2016 13:16

violet don't worry about measurements. I have a growth Scan every 4 weeks due to diabetes and baby is measuring big on there but when mw measures my bump it is spot on for gestation. They can't be sure and won't know until baby is born.

cheshirem2b · 13/04/2016 13:24

Love the name discussions. We had a boys name picked and baby is a girl. We haven't told anyone irl and only very few people know the sex. Baby will be Lydia Eloise Hay 💕
Baby is head down here and keeps jabbing me in the ribs with her feet!
We moved DD1 in to her "big girl room" last night and put her in her toddler bed for the first time. Went ok so at least I know I cam turn the nursery back in to a nursery again!

strawberrypenguin · 13/04/2016 13:46

Lydia is lovely cheshire love DDs big girl room too!

Had midwife appointment his morning and measuring spot on. Really impressed with my midwife this time told her that consultant has said I likely won't be induced this time and it had thrown me a bit so she's coming to the house in two weeks to talk through spontaneous labour and birth things with DH and I.

Homeboddy49 · 13/04/2016 13:59

cheshire really cool room. Are they stencils? I am looking for some fairy tale/Peter pan stencils.

Names are sooooo hard. That's why I had to find out the sex so it narrowed down the decision making. We are having a girl and we are decided on our name (I think) but they name I love DH doesn't want even though we decided it was going to be the name before I got Pregancy! Totally unfair. The name I really like is Scarlett which goes so well with our surname. But the name we have both agreed on is gorgeous as well and I have started calling the bump this name as well so I'm so used to it.

I am finding, which is so irritating, is that people ask me what the name will be. Even people I don't even know that much or have just met. As if I would tell them? So then I have to lie and say no we haven't got one yet otherwise you have to go through the whole reason why you have a name but you aren't gonna tell them. My mum is desperate for me to tell her but she is not getting a whiff. Haha

Deffo getting super tired as well but amazingly and I don't know why, the PGP has got a bit better.

DH is working away all week so have to cook for myself every night. I know it's not the biggest problem in the world but I am so 100% lazy at the moment and the non-pregnant me is anything but. Everything is huge effort. Makes me wonder if I will be arsed to look after the baby when she arrives!! Haha. Shouldn't laugh. I'm sure I will sort myself out when she is here.

cautiousoptimist1 · 13/04/2016 14:36

Jelly asos maternity have a few dresses that I quite like the look of without the same price tag as Isabelle Oliver. I'd pay those prices if it was a bit earlier with maybe more opportunity to wear it again but it seems such a lot at 36 weeks. Might be worth a look for you too if you're also struggling.

booked83 · 13/04/2016 15:25

*cheshire that's a lovely room Smile my poor baby has no choice as he is sharing with his big brother and its Star Wars theme!

My hubby really likes Harry so I've started calling baby that just to see how it goes! Means I would have Charlotte Alex and Harry! I said if he is called Harry his nick name is prince!! Lol my daughter is called happy (not for that reason...pre teens always grump!) and my son is called munch (he was a cupboard love baby!)!

cheshirem2b · 13/04/2016 15:52

homeboddy they are wall stickers. Somebody asked me if I'd painted it?! As if! Grin
strawberry my mw did similar with me last week because things were up in the air about dates. Turns out I'm 95% sure I'm going in early this time but never mind.
Being off work this week I've managed to sort DD1 room and the nursery. Just got to sort our room out now! Confused

mrsmugoo · 13/04/2016 16:29

Starting to get really anxious about baby's position - she keeps moving about a lot (which I should take s a good sign I know) so it's really hard for me to tell where she is but mostly I think she's lying transverse and at times I'm sure she's breech as it feels just like with my DS with a head up top that bobs when you push it and harder kicks to the lower side.

I know babies can and do move right unto and during labour (having had one term breech baby god knows I've done ALL THE GOOGLING) but this time I don't have the get-out clause of an ECV and I really have my heart on a natural birth. It's my last chance. I was disappointed first time around at an ELCS but I always knew I'd have another shot.

I just wish I didn't have two more weeks before I see a midwife and even then no guarantee she will palpate for position - I've heard they have stopped doing it until 36 weeks now because they can't take any action on position regardless.

I know it's out of my hands but it's the not knowing / limbo :(

emma85x · 13/04/2016 17:02

cheshirem2b I love your wall stickers, absolutely gorgeous!! We've ordered a large wall sticker, hoping it will arrive any day. We're having a Peter Rabbit themed nursery! Just got home to yet another JoJo Maman Bebe delivery! Their dresses are fab!! Love them and you can wear them post pregnancy too. Would definitely recommend having a look on their website for a wedding outfit!

We start our NCT classes tonight. Is it going to be terribly cringey?!!

emma85x · 13/04/2016 17:03

Sorry jellybelly I meant to tag you in that post Smile

strawberrypenguin · 13/04/2016 17:14

mrsmugoo my midwife self for babies position today - I'm 32 weeks. She was confident he was head down (scan showed same last week too)

jellybelly85 · 13/04/2016 17:27

Thanks emma and cautious for dress shopping suggestions! Can't wait for Internet to be installed next week so I can do some proper browsing and planning.
