We are struggling with boys names cautious! It's so hard having to agree!

For those who suffer with heartburn ask your GP for Ranitidine, it is my life saver! We will have to see if the old wives tales come true & see if those of us who suffered have babies with lots of hair! My two were both born with lots!

I have a growth scan this week too. Measuring dead on but have to have one because of my bmi :( hopefully everyone's will go well!

booked83 · 12/04/2016 15:27

*ilovepies we are struggling with boys names! He likes Harry (I know to many Harry's!) we both like Henry and jack!

strawberrypenguin · 12/04/2016 15:31

booked you could go with Henry and use Harry as a nickname.
Also struggling with boys names - naming boy no2 is much harder than the first!

cautiousoptimist1 · 12/04/2016 16:04

I'm finding boys names easier but we still don't have a definite one. We like the same style so we will find one eventually, I'm a pain because I love classic names but I don't like them being shortened so that's the difficult bit for me with boys names.

Eastend2015 · 12/04/2016 16:06

We are thinking Max for a boy (Maximillian Samuel) or Florence Elizabeth for a girl. We both love Florence but still a little undecided on Max- it's a bit pretentious!!

Bought just about everything for my hospital bag yesterday. Slightly freaked out by buying nappies for the first time!! DH has been nagging me since he heard about Belle and Tatted! It isn't all properly packed and baby clothes haven't been washed etc but at least gathered together in an enormous carrier bag so it can be easily grabbed if needed. Now hopefully I can forget about it for 7-10 more weeks!

nehagarg · 12/04/2016 16:10

Cautious .. I have got exactly the same issue. We are having such trouble naming this boy because I want a name that is classic, cannot be shortened and is pronounceable by everyone.

Good one Eastend ... I washed all baby clothes and now worrying that I\ll have to wash them again since I still have up to 9 weeks to go, supposing this baby is as late as can be.

Thanks for the reassurance, it seems its pretty common then! I'm measuring at 32+5 when I'm 31+4 so just a little over a week ahead. Looking forward to seeing the little man tomorrow anyway!! 20 week scan seems such a long time ago now!! Scan is at 5pm so will let you know how it goes tomorrow. Good luck with your scans too Booked Madrigal Ilovepies and anyone else I've missed.

We've decided on Matthew, middle name still under discussion, (I like Jacob, DH's not sold on it yet). Eastend I love the name Max, its top of the list if we have another boy.

MadrigalElectromotive · 12/04/2016 16:26

We have the opposite problem - we had an easy frontrunner for a boy's name, but nothing decided for a girl. We are having a girl and can't agree. Grin Oh well, we still have time to decide!

I've bought pretty much all of my hospital bag stuff now but haven't got as far as putting it in a bag yet - perhaps I'll do it at the weekend. I also haven't washed any baby clothes yet, again, it is on the to-do list!

iamdivergent · 12/04/2016 16:30

Looks like we are naming baby a few FIL, it's not a name I would have considered bt considering everything over the past 7wks it will be nice to use his name as a sort of tribute iykwim - middle name is going to be the name we had actually chosen prior to FILs death - it means baby will not only have FIL name but also the same initials too Confused pure coincidence but I love the middle name too much not to use it in there somewhere and this is definately our last baby.

I'm back at work after a fortnight off - and I am knackered! Just running a bath now as so sore from all the walking. I had two easy labours previously and my mw said that he amount of walking I did and still do would have worked in my favour as it can help baby get into good position. I probably walk anywhere between 3 and 5 miles on a weekday as I can't drive.

strawberrypenguin · 12/04/2016 16:53

I live Max eastend it was one of my first suggestions but DH doesn't like it so it's off the table for us. Matthew is a lovely name too violet not one we considered as its my bil name.
Those worrying about shortenings I think kids always pick up nicknames in school regardless when when that are younger/ among family they are what you call them iyswim. DS is known by everyone as a shortening of his name but that's our choice, another boy at his nursery has the same name and is know by his whole name - no one ever shortens it.

strawberrypenguin · 12/04/2016 16:54

Gosh divergent that's a lot of walking! I feel really lumbering this time round. Last time we were on holiday in the lakes at about this stage and I was walking up hills every day. Don't think I could manage it this time!

booked83 · 12/04/2016 17:18

*divergent that's a lot of walking!

I'm with *strawberry I feel like I'm waddling earlier this time!

ILovePies · 12/04/2016 18:22

My DSS is Max, but I love the name!
I like Dexter but DP isn't 100%
We have Freya-Rose for a girl.

Wow divergent that is a lot of walking! & what a lovely tribute to your FIL :)

earlgreydrinker · 12/04/2016 18:44

Measuring large here too today. Midwife not concerned but said I would have a growth scan if it jumped again next appointment. My mum helpfully suggested the baby will be huge then. I wasn't v polite back! Head is down and its poking my hips this evening! To be honest I do feel enormous - how much bigger can my bump get before June Hmm.

We know it's a boy and we have a name chosen. It won't be to everyone's taste I know but we love it. My FIL died just before DD was born so his name will be the middle name.

iamdivergent · 12/04/2016 18:56

I love the name Max - it's what dd1 was going to be called if she'd have been a boy. Kind of glad now though as she'd have been Max Mc* (Scottish surname) which is totally a superhero sounding name ! Dds both have superhero first names

iamdivergent · 12/04/2016 18:59

I was measuring 27wks at 28+2 but mw (not my usual one) said as it was first measurement there is nothing to compare it to so said they'd not be concerned until they had to low ones. The thing is I'm massive so I don't take much from these measurements tbh, they're notoriously unreliable - though I wouldn't mind a scan to see the wee man again Grin I'm at mw next Tuesday for my 31wk appt.

strawberrypenguin · 12/04/2016 19:07

Dexter is another name I like and DH vetoed ilove

Midwife appointment for me tomorrow so we'll see what I come out measuring as! Mine have been pretty consistent so far and I've had extra growth scans anyway so no real concern.

emma85x · 12/04/2016 19:10

Loving the discussion on names! Florence for a girl is lovely. I also genuinely love Max and Henry! I wanted to call our baby Henry but selfishly my FIL's Labrador is called Henry! As a teacher at a boys school it was especially tough choosing names as I associate names with boys I teach and whether they're nice or not! All Max's and Henry's have been good you'll be pleased to know! Ben's and Will's are the naughty ones Grin

iamdivergent · 12/04/2016 19:25

It's funny how knowing someone with with a name can put you off it if they're badly behaved. There are 4 Jacks in dd2 class, 3 Logans in dd1s. There are alot of Josh, Jack, Jayden and Kaidens at their school too.

iamdivergent · 12/04/2016 19:27

Had this baby been a girl we would have named her Iona

strawberrypenguin · 12/04/2016 19:34

Oh dear emma should I be worried DS1 is William he usually goes by Billy though! Grin

MollieRos · 12/04/2016 21:16

I've been measuring big too- off the top of the centiles! They've talked about keeping an eye and possibly doing growth scans but the midwives don't seem at all concerned.

I had an appointment with the midwife today to discuss my options for giving birth with IV antibiotics for strep b. They can't give antibiotics at the MLU, so it looks like I'll be on the high risk unit at the hospital, which is really disappointing. We're going to have a look round the unit later in the week- when we went up before they only showed us round the MLU part for some reason. Ah well, whatever's safest, but I am quite disappointed.

Names... we still haven't got a proper shortlist. I have a name I like but DH isn't sold, so discussions are continuing!

Eastend2015 · 12/04/2016 21:52

Ahh glad everyone likes our names- no one else knows as TBH we don't want anyone's negative opinions. We decided on them when we started trying which seems like such a long time ago!

sambababy · 12/04/2016 21:56

Belle that's a lovely name :) hope your recovery is going ok. How is Rosalie doing?

Mollie that's disappointing but I'm sure the hospital unit will be ok too. Hopefully you can still be fairly active.

30+3 and have been feeling exhausted and emotional these last few days. I think it's hormones combined with DD waking ridiculously early and the draining, unrelenting spd pain. Another 10wks sounds like a long time but I'm also not mentally ready for the baby to come yet.

We don't know if we're having a boy or girl either. I'm pretty sure now that he/she is head down and back to back though, getting kicks in weird places. Has anyone had any luck turning a baby with the spinning babies stuff?

We have a front runner girls name although I'm not convinced by DH's pronunciation of it. Still totally stuck on boys names though. I liked Jacob, Finlay and Zachary but they got shot down. I actually like names that can be shortened but interestingly you can't shorten DD's name or potential DD2's name.

iamdivergent · 12/04/2016 22:14

No one irl knows our name choice either - we tell them the sex but keen the name until baby is here, we've done the same with the other 2 as well so it's a nice surprise.
