Hi IlovePies, we're due date buddies :) welcome!

JellyBaby26 · 31/03/2016 13:56

I am super anxious as well. I keep thinking oh gosh have we do everything the right thing. Dd is only 10 months and if the same happens with him I literally dono know how I'll cope but it'd sadly a harsh reality and it was a massive risk but it's too late now!!!

I keep saying my due date is the 7th but it's not its the 9th!

Sneezed today and wetc patch went through to my jeans. I went out anyway 😇

iamdivergent · 31/03/2016 14:23

I'm not anxious about the newborn stage, it's labour I'm starting to ruminate on now!

ILovePies · 31/03/2016 14:26

Not bad thanks, my two little monkeys are keeping me on my toes so resting where I can :)
How is everyone else getting on?
Haven't met a due date buddy yet Spock! Nice to finally meet one! :)
JellyBaby I had a cold last week & had to wear pads! The joys of pregnancy

JellyBaby26 · 31/03/2016 14:46

Yep I need to Don the tena lady!!

Am crapping my pants about my elcs . Watched so many y gruesome YouTube videos ....

ILovePies · 31/03/2016 14:53

When is it booked for?
I'm hoping and praying for a VBAC this time, but scared to do all of labour again and end in a emc again!
I'm sure all will go well! Thanks

JellyBaby26 · 31/03/2016 15:23

Not booked yet, will get the date at my appointment at the end of April.

I can imagine that's quite quickly scary thought but is there any reason why it would happen again? Hoping not! Plenty of successful VBACS happen Flowers

MollieRos · 31/03/2016 15:34

biking I feel the same. DH and I are still not sure we're ready or if this is what we want, but we're taking each day as it comes, and I'm sure we'll be fine. I was similar too in that I had several weeks once my morning sickness disappeared where I felt much more normal, so I felt like we could get on with life a bit more. We kind of pushed the baby stuff to the background. Then the last couple of weeks I've felt uncomfy and morning sickness has come back, so it's felt a lot harder again. We've been having lots of "what are we doing?" wobbles. eastend disconnected is exactly the word- I can't for the life of me get my head round the fact that what I can feel inside me is an actual little person that'll soon be with us!

I'm back to feeling sorry for myself today (story of my pregnancy!!)- I threw up several times at work this morning then eventually admitted defeat and came home. Not loving the return of morning sickness!

dollydaydream84 · 31/03/2016 15:50

Aww MollieRos poor you! I still throw up occasionally so feel some of your pain!

I had a vbac clinic today and the midwife basically said if u elect for a section and something goes wrong how will you feel then? I responded with if I have a vbac and something goes wrong how will I feel then? Feeling a huge sense of responsibility to Make the right decision and that comment did not help!! Luckily OH is happy to support whatever I want but I feel such pressure! Don't want a failed VbAc and EMCS again!!

Jelly did you have an EMCS last time? I did and it didn't worry me as didn't have time to worry but much more fretful of having surgery when I have time to think about it, it's the main thing putting me off an ELCS!

Spock27 · 31/03/2016 16:13

This is going to sound bad but I'm so glad you guys are freaking out too! Two of the ladies from my pregnancy yoga had their babies last week and it just all seems so sudden - they're mums now! I can't really picture that it will be me in about 10 weeks :/

Sorry to hear you're feeling so rough Mollie, I hope it passes soon!

laughingGnomette · 31/03/2016 16:16

Bloody hell dolly, I can't believe she said that! Talk about guilt tripping you!!

strawberrypenguin · 31/03/2016 16:19

Lovely cardi eastend I've never been brave enough to try knitting one! I've just started a baby hat though! I know they'll be summer babies but thought I should have one knitted one for hospital!

Hi Ilove welcome.

Sorry your feeling so anxious jelly my eldest was born with Craniosynostosis and I do have moments of 'what if' with this one. We too took a calculated risk although in our case DS1 was operated on and is absolutely fine. So I do get it a bit. I think that these babies will be fine :) and if not it's amazing what you can take on when these things happen x

MollieRos · 31/03/2016 16:51

Any advice from people who've already had babies... I can't work out what to do about a pram. We were given a pushchair from a friend, small and lightweight and perfect for what we need, except that it's not suitable for a newborn. It looks like it'll be fine once the baby's a bit more secure at sitting up (no idea what age that'll be!!), but we need more of a pram for when he's tiny. I've been having a look at options (the type with a frame that you can use as a pram/pushchair), but everything is so expensive, not helped by having a tiny car/bootspace which limits our options.

Is it possible to get by without having a pram and go straight to a more sitting up pushchair? I was planning on getting a sling anyway, and we're hoping to get more of a structured backpack style baby carrier once he's a bit bigger. Is it practical to just have a sling when they're tiny? Would it be a proper pain not having anywhere to put them down onto and having to always carry him if we're out?

I'm keeping an eye on ebay and we still have lots of time, but it seems crazy to spend so much money for something which will only benefit us for potentially a few months till he can use the pushchair anyway.

ILovePies · 31/03/2016 17:18

Jelly no reason why I couldn't have natural. My first was natural so that's definitely in my favour.
Dolly I can't believe she said that to you! How bloody rude. It's your decision, and you shouldn't feel guilted into anything!
Mollie as long as the pushchair lays flat, you are fine to use it from birth. I'm hoping to get a close caboo this time, some friends of mine used it and baby looked so comfy snuggled to mummy's chest. I'm really sorry to hear your morning sickness is back :( Thanks

JellyBaby26 · 31/03/2016 17:18

Dolly no I had a beautiful natural labour with not even a puff of gas and air .. but dd has a neurological disorder and no one knows why or what it it. Her neurologist has said her "energy faikure" could have happened during the contractions and labour so naturally I don't want to put this child at risk .

Mollie IMO a pram for a newborn will be useful as it's potentially going to be incredibly hot and probably wouldn't be the nicest having a baby strapped to you 24/7. That said I'm sure you'd cope and get used to it. Look on local Facebook selling pages and keep an eye on ebay as you are. I have a sling and a carrier but still used the pram a lot!
Do you know anyone who could lend you one for a short period of time?

dollydaydream84 · 31/03/2016 17:42

Gnomette - me neither! She actually said those words, not a variation. I didn't feel it helped as she was very pro-VBAC and not as unbiased as I would have hoped. Came out, rang OH and did an undignified pregnancy sob down the phone with this huge feeling of responsibility on my shoulders! On reflection, I've decided to stop worrying about it until I have my growth scan, consultant appointment and yet another visit to see Mrs VBAC (though I may cancel that yet!!!).

Jelly I am ordering one of those births this time please! :D I'd advise the ignorance is bliss approach to your section. I'm not at all scared of the actual operation, I'm more worried about the pre-nerves. You'll be so excited in there! It does happen really quickly, baby was born after about 15 minutes (though I'd had a cocktail of drugs so may be longer), you feel no pain just a bit of pressure which doesn't hurt. You focus so much on cuddling your baby and getting those first photos, all of a sudden you are stitched up and wheeled back to the ward! Moving afterwards is difficult but I didn't find it particularly painful - take whatever they offer you as pain relief though I basically just had paracetamol after first 24 hours and I have zero pain threshold. My OH was fantastic at helping me in and out of bed etc. in the first few days but I was up and about approx. 10 hours after the surgery, I expect they get you up sooner but it would have been the middle of the night if they had tried to get me up sooner as DD was born at night! Is there a particular aspect you are worried about? In trying to reassure you, it's actually made me feel better about ELCS! :D

Mollie a newborn pram would be useful but they only use it for a short time, DD was in her seat part of the pram at ~5 months though she was quite a big baby. Sometimes you can get "newborn inserts" for seat prams which provide additional support, avoid the need for a flat pram and are significantly cheaper than travel systems. Something like this maybe: www.kiddicare.com/p/Diono_Cuddle_Soft_Head_and_Body_Support.htm?product_id=560926&&affiliate=KC-google-shopping&gclid=CjwKEAjwlfO3BRDR4Pj_u-iO2U0SJAD88y1SGbWjEZGN4iGPQLCy7_PmfmBLMdP37-lHfC6AVTQpThoClgDw_wcB

MollieRos · 31/03/2016 17:48

dolly I missed your post before... I can't believe the midwife said that! Really not very helpful at all.

ILovePies · 31/03/2016 17:56

Dolly whatever you decide will be right for you and baby. Don't worry about what anyone else says. I have heard ELCS are supposed to be so much easier to recover from. A friend of mine who had a failed VBAC said she'd reccomend just opting for one.
My VBAC lady loved me, purely because I want one haha. But I am very scared at the prospect of it failing. I'm not very good at labouring by myself.

GrubbyWindows · 31/03/2016 17:59

mollie we didn't get a pushchair until DS was 9 months, and hardly used it before 12-18 months. He was a march baby, and we spent that summer in Italy so proper hot! You will be fine with a sling, and if you find you are not, John Lewis does next day delivery- at least that's my policy on most baby kit. Don't buy til I'm sure we can't manage without- and most things we can manage fine without.
Get thee to a sling library, you'll need to try a few to find the perfect one for you. A cheap stretchy off eBay is a good starting point while you find your perfect one, and you will need the baby to be there to try them properly anyway. Totally doable, truly!

JellyBaby26 · 31/03/2016 18:34

All good points re pram. You don't need need one but they are handy. Travel systems especially for just burging them on the frame while you go shopping or whatever.

Dolly I'm not entirely sure what I'm scared of!?! I think it's more that I have actually made a decision and I am a little worried about the recovery while dealing with dd as well . She's practically a 20lb newborn and can't do anything for herself poor thing but we will have to work around it. Of course I'm mainly scared hat I'll go through this all and he will come out exactly the same as her ! But we are more than equipped to deal with 2 disabled kids however it would break my heart !

insideout · 31/03/2016 18:46

Molly we didnt use pram much in the first 6 months for either dd and ds as i find it easier with a sling. Am planning on 'slinging' baby for first 6-9 months again this time ( partly because i dont want a double pushchair )

MollieRos · 31/03/2016 19:00

Hmm, perhaps we'll be able to manage without a pram. Though I hadn't thought about being hot over the summer- I'm a sweaty person at the best of times so I've got no chance with a little wriggly hot water bottle strapped to me in a sling!

dolly The insert looks like a good option, though the pushchair doesn't lay fully flat, so I'm not sure if it'd work. Maybe we should do as grubby suggests and wait till he's here- it's easy enough to buy stuff online quickly if we're struggling. There's a sling library near us so I'd planned on going there to try out some options, and will probably do as you suggest and get a cheapie one to tide us over till then. I'd looked at papoozles as an option, so I'll keep an eye out on ebay/preloved for one I think.

Jelly it's always daunting actually making decisions! It sounds like you'll be absolutely great though, whatever the outcome. You'll have to call on friends and family to help with your DD.

Spock27 · 31/03/2016 19:57

Can't believe how good my dh is to me. Too ill to go to nct tonight and didn't want to spread this cold around lots of pregnant ladies so he's gone on his own to take notes for me. It's the session on breastfeeding. He knew how much i wanted to go. I can only imagine how uncomfortable he is but he offered without flinching.

I need to do something to thank him but can't think what!

strawberrypenguin · 31/03/2016 20:21

Aww lovely DH spock I'm sure he'll be fine. Maybe get him some nice chocolate or something
