I couldn't post on last thread so hope everyone finds this one!

Great pic annaB and what a lucky girl having four big brothers! I always wanted a big brother and not just because I imagined he'd have cute friends

AnnaR hope you're feeling better now. And glad everyone else seems to be doing ok. I turned 17 weeks a couple of days ago and so so so thankful that I'm eventually feeling much better! Absolutely wiped out by the end of the day but able to eat more now so I think energy will be back soon Smile

DH is off today, yay! Family coming for lunch and the sun is out...happy days

Baby Custard arrived at 7pm today, all very fast and without further complication! Weighs 5.5lb and already mastered feeding. Need to stay in for 48hrs to monitor infection.

0hCrepe · 15/08/2016 21:50

Wow fantastic news!! Congratulations!

Penguin000 · 16/08/2016 01:51

Congratulations custard that's fab news! 5lb what a little dink!

Im up with heartburnSad. But I also went to bed at 8.30 as I decided to nest yday and by 5pm my tummy was in agony and I could barely breathe or walk/stand/sit.

Tomo I'm planning on packing my hospital bag and baking cakes with ds.

How is everyone getting on?

shabbychic1 · 16/08/2016 11:14

Congratulations Custard! Glad it went well. I'm due 4 weeks today and feeling huge and heavy, baby seems to have dropped and is heavy to carry around. But still not ready yet as in still tired form the flu so not wishing time away... Much!

Womenareliketeabags · 16/08/2016 16:31

Had my home birth plan visit today from the midwife at 37+2 and she has delivered a box of goodies all ready for the home birth. We went through everything and I feel really ready for it now. She says she hopes I won't be waiting too much longer as I have been getting these period type pains over the last few evenings and thinks this could be the start of the latent phase of labour Grin

I just need to decide whether I want to request a prescription for meptid (bit like pethidine) from my GP or not

How's everyone today? Hope your starting to feel slightly better shabby and I hope Custard and baby custard are still recovering well!

0hCrepe · 16/08/2016 16:45

These babies arriving has spurred me on to buy a pack of nappies and some big pants and more babygros! It's really real! Better get more prepared! So nervous/excited!

My DC are with their grandma for a few days so I'm mainly lying around, feeling more tired than I expected, probably because I'm not doing anything! Have been listening to my natal hypnotherapy track and reading childbirth book too.

I was a bit concerned about movements this morning and keep watching out for them. I am more aware now I'm not doing much. About lunchtime though she was moving so much I felt like she'd burst out of my stomach. Still don't feel entirely sure what her pattern actually is though. What do others think about movements?

Going out with friends tonight which I'm looking forward to and lunch with another, then kids back for tea. Missing them!

Annarose2014 · 16/08/2016 17:35

Huge congrats custard.

My childcare for the birth is getting worrisome. I don't have anyone else and she told me today she was going away for the 19th & 20th. I'm due on the 18th. I'm afraid I broke down on the spot as this is just the latest incidence of flakiness. (She was the one who let me down for childcare at my 12 week scan if anyone remembers.)

She's very abashed now and has cancelled etc and very apologetic and swearing blind she'll be around full time during that period....but it shouldn't have taken me crying at 8.5 months for those reassurances!

balalalala · 16/08/2016 17:35

Congratulations custard

0hCrepe · 16/08/2016 17:40

Oh no Anna you're at a vulnerable time. Really hope she steps up to the mark. I think i remember about the scan too.

Annarose2014 · 16/08/2016 17:54

All I can do is trust now her remorse sticks. She turned up very promptly for the 20 week scan in fairness. But today she was back to being far too relaxed about something this important.

Plan B if she is literally not available on the day cos something fucking random happened is the wife of one of DHs friends. Obvs not ideal as I don't know her that well, but she's a SAHM who would be extremely obliging at short notice and is only 20 mins away. She also has a host of sisters who would swoop in en masse. Again, I don't know them so it would be a bit wierd, but it's the only Plan B I can think of!

CustardOmlet · 16/08/2016 18:04

Oh Anna you don't need that kind of stress, nows the time to be able to sit back and know others are ready to catch everything.

Baby custard is doing well, he's needing lots of prompts with feeding and struggling to keep warm, but that just means lots of sweaty cuddles!!! Hoping to be home Thursday morning.

Graciesmug04 · 16/08/2016 19:23

Glad to hear that baby custard is doing well, sweaty cuddles and all. What heat!! oh no Anna other people being laid back goes down like a lead balloon - the fact there needs to be tears before someone just "gets it" sucks!!

I'd really love to get on to fb page please if anyone can help with that

Annabrooke90 · 16/08/2016 20:11

There are now five babies on the Facebook group. So the babies are arriving in a fast. Congrats custard :)

Arabella got discharged at the weekend, shes five weeks old now and had abit of a hectic ride in there, just over 1 week ago she had to have a blood transfusion and it looked like it would be weeks away until she was allowed home, she proved everyone wrong. She weighed 4ib 3 on discharge, she doesn't gain very fast but she also had a fair bit of weight loss in the first week and half so shes doing good :) strange to think I still should have 4 weeks left and she's already been here 5 weeks.

Im not sure how to add to the Facebook group, I will let the group know and then someone else can help :)

Penguin000 · 16/08/2016 21:16

Does anyone know what happens when the HV comes round for home visit before birth? Does it take long? I wish I could remember but it was 7 years ago!

Graciesmug04 · 16/08/2016 21:19

Five babies already!! My goodness. I was surprised at two. Lovely to hear that Arabella is home although poor pet needing a blood transfusion :( bet you're glad she's out and home, very odd to think she's five weeks old already - makes me agree with the person who said they had bought nappies - false sense of security that we have weeks left to get organised although I'm sure we'd all cope without the last minute buys anyway if the babies arrived

MrsCeee · 17/08/2016 08:57

Gracie I've sent you a PM about joining the FB group. I'm only 34 weeks so I'm still telling myself I have 6 to 8 weeks to go haha

Congratulations Custard!! Hope both you and Baby are doing well. What a lovely weight, too Smile

Never again will I roll my eyes at the Gaviscon adverts. Having never quite experienced heartburn and indigestion before, I can safely say I'm getting my fair share of it this pregnancy. Its definitely not fun.

Annarose2014 · 17/08/2016 11:28

Had my MW appointment this morning. I told her I didn't want to go 10 days over like last time.

She advised to start the raspberry leaf tea from 37 weeks and start the nipple stimulation/practice hand expressing that week also. She says the tea in particular needs a few weeks and you need a good 3/4 cups a day, every day.

She also mentioned pineapple (near the core) but I might give that a swerve as it can cause the shits, lol!

She said that I can be booked in for a sweep at my 40 week appointment. She said sweeps don't work too well for first timers as they have to get their fingers inside the cervix and when you've never had a baby its clamped shut. Whereas after a baby the cervix is never closed again so it's easier to get their finger in there and have a good sweep around. Bleeeuuurgh!

But it gives me a list of things to do and a sort of roadmap so I'm relieved. I can't bear the thought of going too far over this time - the waiting almost killed me last time!

0hCrepe · 17/08/2016 11:46

Ooh some good tips there to get things moving! I was 11 days late with dd so it could happen again. I'd prefer earlier rather than later just to get the most out of my mat leave!

Annarose2014 · 17/08/2016 12:05

Well the tea doesn't get things moving so much as make life easier when it does naturally get moving. It softens the cervix and gets the muscles ready and it's meant to lead to less pushing.

But the expressing is meant to help as a natural inducer. Mind you, I did that from 39 weeks every day last time and so was a bit of a fail in that way for me! Though it was v useful for establishing BFing/latching as my colostrum was brimming over by labour & baby went mad for it.

SweetSesame · 17/08/2016 12:37

Hello everyone, I've only just realised that this is the thread for September due date mummies!
