Thanks for the new thread pickle

GlenCoco great news that all is well and congrats on your lovely wee boy!

Hi bex, welcome Smile

Jw I'd say girl too. On gender prediction my friend showed me this chart the other day. Obviously it's complete guff but all in good fun!

mslg I hope you aren't worried about GBS now that you have been tested they will keep an eye on you and make sure baby is monitored for 24 hours are birth so that will be a relief to you.

my DD had GBS and I was not tested at all so we had a difficult 6 days in SCBU with baby needing lumber puncture and antibiotics following the birth (after my mum insisted something wasn't right minutes after birth-she is a retired midwife. I'll definitely have her close by second time round!) I wish there was a testing for everyone even though it Can come and go. The tests are only £11 for the health board and considering how Ill it can make them I wish it was routine. Anyway I was told you can still have midwife led birth, and the antibiotics so hopefully you will get the options you are looking for.

four that's an amazing scan and lovely news you are having a boy!! Can I ask did you crave sweeter foods I.e fruit/juice with DD? I did with DD and this time I'm all about the salty savoury foods and wondering boy just interesting to see if you other ladies are the same who already know? Find out at scan when I'm 21 weeks in a fortnight!

AlfieTheRailwayCat · 12/03/2016 08:15

dileas I've been craving salty/savoury and I'm having a girl. Love all the old wives tales, I deficient thought I was having a boy but nope!

Dileas29 · 12/03/2016 08:47

alfie yes I have read a few different forums of people having same sex babies and totally different pregnancies! I'd be happy with another girl or a boy so just have to wait and see!

TattieHowkerz · 12/03/2016 09:47

Lovely pic glencoco, congratulations on your boy!

I can't decide whether to find out the sex or not. We didn't with DD, we were both convinced she was a girl, and we were right, but could just be coincidence. I've had phases of thinking boy this time, but really don't have a clue. Didn't see anything that could be mistaken for a penis etc on the detailed scan during the week (extra one, still to have my 20w scan in 3 weeks). Luckily we don't mind either way but would help us with thinking about names and with my Mum's knitting plans.

Welcome new person, I'm on the app so can't scroll up to check names!

TattieHowkerz · 12/03/2016 09:48

I craved salty stuff with DD. This time I'm craving sausages, cake, cheese, pineapple, jelly babies, Fanta, dried pears Confused

FourForYouGlenCoco · 12/03/2016 10:11

Thanks for all the good wishes ladies Grin I was so sure it was a girl that it's taken a bit of readjustment time, but I am so so excited to have a little boy!
Dileas I was desperate for salt through my 1st tri with DD but definitely had a sweeter tooth than normal after that - developed a bit of a Haribo habit, usually I hate sweets. Have been less into the sweets and stuff this time but this pregnancy has been nearly identical to DD's - I was sicker at the start and have been spottier & uglier - both signs of a girl by the old wives' tales!
crunchy the Chinese gender predictor has been right for me both times so far...I know it's fluke but still!
Hi bex welcome, lovely to have you on board!

hgleslie89 · 12/03/2016 10:16

Morning everyone! Welcome bex and congrats four! Hope everyone has a good weekend planned?

So I'm 20 weeks today! Can't quite believe it, the time seems to have both dragged and flown by. Starting to feel movement pretty much everyday which is making me feel more bonded with the little one, although when I can't feel anything I can almost forget I'm pregnant.

Seeing you all finding out the gender is making me want to know even though we'd decided not to. Thankfully our hospital's policy is not to inform you, otherwise I might have caved and found out.

PickleBot · 12/03/2016 11:18

Morning all, anyone else bone crushingly tired? I slept 14 hours last night, although it was quite broken I think. I'm still tired this morning. It's not the first time this week I've gone to bed with DS either. I'm also still really spotty, surely this stuff should be over by now? I'm 20 weeks today.

welcome, bex, great to have you! and welcome back lotsofdots and plimsolls - don't worry, keeping up is a full-time job! i always feel bad for the bits i've missed...

plimsolls, my GP wouldn't check for the heartbeat at the 16 week appt and I was gutted. she said lots of practices won't at 16 wks because it can be hard to find and causes panic. i was really disappointed, so hope you'll get to listen in!

pickle, i've woken up with a MASSIVE spot on my cheek, like a lightbulb. feel like it might be a warning of things to come!

hg, you me and jw are all due date pals! congrats on getting to 20 weeks, we're halfway there! definitely cause for celebration, i reckon. in my case, probably something sweet, because i've developed a mean sweet tooth after being a salty gal all my life. it's really weird, i'm studying the sweet aisle for the first time like there's an exam at the end!

PickleBot · 12/03/2016 13:30

I'm also crying at EVERYTHING, we are clearing our dumping groundspare room out and I'm crying at all the old cards and tiny shoes. I even shed a tear at the instruction book for the pram and a roll of nappy liners!

Place mark my, will catch up properly later. Been busy with a toddler who has definitely hit the terrible twos this week!

bexh83 · 12/03/2016 18:41

quitecrunchy im having a girl according to your predictor, love these old wives tales. Agreed not to find out as per hubbys desire for a surprise and now im just so nosy and cant wait!

pickle im the spottiest ive ever been - luckily on my back which im not flashing regulary at the moment. I thought these things were supposed to away. Glowing I am not.

quitecrunchy · 12/03/2016 23:15

Another one here who's incredibly spotty right now? Does anyone actually 'bloom' or is that just a myth?! It was the promise of that that got me through the 1st trimester!

GlenCoco the chart predicted my girl too, which as a scientist i found slightly annoying! It's got to be right half the time though I suppose! Either that or there's actually something in it in which case you better start thinking of girls names Bex Wink

quitecrunchy · 12/03/2016 23:18

And tattie your cravings sound very similar to mine - sausages, orangeade, cake and grapes. I hadn't had orangeade since I was a kid until the last month but now I'm addicted!

plimsolls · 13/03/2016 08:44

I'm spotty too! Face, back and chest. Although, I am happy about my nails and hair at the moment. Nails are strong and growing for the first time ever, and hair is very thick. Focusing on those two positives rather than the much less pleasant TMI type pregnancy issues which I won't mention Shock

FourForYouGlenCoco · 13/03/2016 09:46

Also spotty here - slightly less so than during 1st tri, but still pretty bad! Plus skin is dry, itchy, blotchy and generally playing up in every way possible. Had a brief hint of glow around 16ish weeks but it's a thing of the past now! But same as you plimsolls, hair is amazingly thick and nails are growing! I'm a lifelong nail biter and I love having nice nails! Have picked up some more prenatals to help them on their way Grin
Been full of cold this weekend, poor DH has had to listen to me sniffling and snuffling all weekend, so attractive! And now DD has it this morning so think we'll be having a lazy day today. Happy Sunday everyone!

AlfieTheRailwayCat · 13/03/2016 16:04

Lazy day over here too after a rubbish nights sleep. Anybody else really struggling with trapped wind? I couldn't sleep at all last night, at one point I thought I would be sick it was so bad. Any remedies?

I've walked the dogs and brushed the pony though so not a total write off.

lilygirl81 · 13/03/2016 16:59

Alfie my wind isn't trapped as such, but I'm waking up at 5am and having to race to the loo to fart like a trooper!!

I had a spot outbreak about 17 weeks, seems to have calmed down now thankfully.

Suziesome1 · 13/03/2016 18:27

Hey, I'm a walking talking typing cliché! We got engaged today! :) so in the space of a year (from July) we will have moved house, had a baby and gotten married :) Going for the triple! Really happy! :)

Suziesome1 · 13/03/2016 18:29

Oh, my back is resembling an acne prone teenage boys! Its mingin! Haha :)

lilygirl81 · 13/03/2016 18:30

Suzie that's amazing news, congratulations!!

OwlinaTree · 13/03/2016 18:45

Congratulations Suzie! Are you planning to get hitched before the baby comes then?

Sophia1984 · 13/03/2016 19:42

Congratulations Suzie! Not a cliche at all :-) I think me and DP are going to be the couples you see on TV who have been engaged for 20 years but never got round to getting married cause baby came along!

FourForYouGlenCoco · 13/03/2016 20:17

Suzie congratulations, how lovely!! How did he do it?? I love a good proposal story! Busy year for you guys Smile

Sophia me and DH got engaged 3 weeks before I found out DD was on the way...we were engaged almost 3 years in the end! I'd have trundled on forever probably but he got impatient and we finally got hitched Grin nowt wrong with long engagements!
