I had some nice wine form sainsburys over christmas too - a white sinfandel and a sparkly chardonnay - both with the alcohol removed - they were fine. Have some 5% sparkling pinot grigio still in fridge - probably keep for valentines day

Quiet day today - am off to collect a birthing ball from a freecycler later - so will have a bounce and roll about and see if it feels comfy. Will sew the covers for my glider chair and will do lots of colouring in and lego building! The playroom looks like it has been covered in confetti - my five year old has got into cutting paper up and colouring it in - have yet to establish what exactly he is doing - but he has been on a mission all week! My three year old is into building lego garages for each of his cars....all while watching Boomerang - lots of Tom & Jerry and Scooby Doo

Been invited to a party tonight which is bit exciting... just down the road - could take my pinot grigio with me!

Time for cup of tea and breakfast - have a nice day

BigBellyCornflakeKid · 06/01/2007 09:05

zinfandel!

Sexonslightlypuffylegs · 06/01/2007 09:56

Morning all. Feeling good this am as dh and dd let me lie in until 9.30 a.m.!!
Sorry to those not enjoying being pg. I don't mind it, but I am feeling big and uncomfortable already and worried that have still got an age to go. Can't bear the breathlessness/exhaustion when doing anything slightly physical, including putting knickers on!
But, I just thank my lucky stars that I am pg as I know tons of people on the conception thread that are struggling to get pg.

So, rubbish weather - need to think of stuff to do inside - no walking on Bournemouth pier today!

Hope everyone is ok, recovering from any bugs etc.

Have a lovely day all.

xx

I can´t deny I´ve been really really lucky so far and have had almost no discomfort from pregnancy whatsoever. I´ve had some pretty bad acid but that´s nothing to complain about given what some people go through.

I did find the not drinking and general fatigue quite hard to deal with at first but even that´s okay now I´m used to it.. so , so far I´ve enjoyed being pregnant..but it´s early days, there´s still the whole 3rd tri to get through and my answer may be very different by the end of that!!

Welcome back elkiedee!!

IsabellyMoi · 06/01/2007 10:32

Hi all
Just lost a long post - this is just a test.

IsabellyMoi · 06/01/2007 10:38

Won't try and recreate the long post I just lost. Haven't written for a while but caught up with the reading over the last few days. Sounds like most everyone had wonderful Christmases (CD - sorry about the traumatic move - but lovely the girls are happy in their new home!).

at the sex talk! Unfortunately, I'm in the low libido camp. Poor DH is understanding though.

Maveta - GREAT news about your cat! What a lovely relief!

Some of you are so organized. We haven't bought much yet but I'm beginning to get into the swing of things. A lady in our community is selling a whole lot of baby stuff so I'm going around at noon to have a look. Hopefully will come home with some deals.

So far, so good on the stretch mark front but I'm not holding my breath. All the experienced moms out there who got stretch marks in your first pregnancies: when did they first appear? About now or right at the end? I will try and view any that I develop as badges of honour but hope I don't develop the ropey road map look.

Enjoy the weekend everyone!

Eddas · 06/01/2007 10:45

Morning everyone. I have to say I don't mind being pregnant, quite enjoy the feeling actually, please no faces! I Just haven't had any problems unlike lots of you and feel bad when I complain as have had it easy so far. Mind you labour last time with DD went on for an age so really not looking forward to that this time.

My friend had her second baby yesterday and went to see them last night, v cute and so tiny. That'll be us soon, worried about coping with 2 kids. still don't feel old enough to have any. DD starting nursery on monday so i'm really looking forward to 2 mornings a week of me time, just a shame it'll only be a couple of months and i'll lose it again. But should give me time to get babys room ready or else poor little thing may well sleep on the floor in a box

1becomes3 · 06/01/2007 11:55

So at all you having a nice time with your pg, I am pretty much the same size as i was when DD was full term, and still a bloody long way to go!

I'm starting to do my baby shopping on line today, yea Still not sure what I need to get, as lots of peole are lending us stuff, I've already got 4 baby bouncers!

It is nice that people are lending us bit but I still want some new stuff for the DT's.

YvieE · 06/01/2007 12:11

I'm another one who doesn't mind pregnancy, apart from the bleeding I had earlier on which gave me a fright, I have had no sickness whatsoever. I've just started to experience heartburn which i have never had in my life, so I thought the back of my throat was on fire the other day. But gaviscon seems to do the trick, even if it is aniseed flavour (yuck).
I am however sh1tting bricks about labour and delivery.

WestCountryLass · 06/01/2007 12:55

CD

I am planning a homebirth too, had one with DD and it was fabulous so hoping it works out. I always say 'baby permitting' as best not to get hopes up incase baby is late and have to be induced or breach etc, imo.

Katy44 · 06/01/2007 14:01

Hi everyone,
bubblez, I was PMSL at the sex position, until I read your description, I decided it must be a bit like filling up the car with petrol Don't think I'll try it as would be laughing too much!
Am I the only one who has been having the odd glass of wine? I didn't drink at all for about 14/15 weeks but now tend to have 2 (very small - prob less than 100ml) glasses once or twice a week. I tried some Sainsbury's N/A sparkling wine - it tasted like elderflower cordial and was so sweet (although got better when really cold)! Didn't see the sparkling chardonnay but will have to have another look next time I'm there - was it sweet or dry?
Now the ms has gone I'm really enjoying being pregnant as well, although at the moment bump isn't kicking a lot - just the odd kick here and there. I am getting kicked, but a week ago she would start kicking on an evening, I'd get dh to put his hand on my tummy and she'd continue kicking for a while and he'd feel. Now, ehen she kicks, it can be an hour until another one - is this normal?
We've been out today and bought a pram/pushchair thing, carseat, bouncy chair and a baby gym which I think is big enough for the 3 of us to play on! The slightly less exciting news is that dh doesn't think we'll fit a cot in the nursery (it would probably fit on its own but with NOTHING else in there - no storage etc)!!! So we're seriously considering putting the house on the market.

Katy44 · 06/01/2007 14:02

My heartburn has almost gone - weird!
Yvie, I have some peppermint gaviscon - not sure if you knew it was available, or have you just got a huge bottle of the aniseed to use up?

Pesha · 06/01/2007 15:30

Hello ladies, I'm back!! Have just spent nearly 3 hours catching up (in between looking after dc obviously!)! I was just planning on skimming through but found myself getting involved and reading lots of it properly so now dont really have time to post properly but sod it am too tired to do anything anyway. I've been making notes but some of it was so long ago seems silly to comment now!

Mint gaviscon is definitely much easier to take than aniseed and you can specify which you want to your dr if you're getting it on prescription. Couple weeks ago I started bringing up quite alot of blood when i was being sick (still most mornings) so under drs orders to take gaviscon much more often to calm things down so it can heal and def seems to be working. Also christmas holidays and dp being here really helped as if i get a decent lie in then I'm not sick, its mostly when I have to get up early wiv kids. But still feeling fairly nauseous all day and really really achey. Had very bad sciatica in run up to christmas after over doing things although this has eased now. And now feel really run down and no energy for anything, just wiped out so think I need to go and see dr next week. So not enjoying pregnancy this time round!!

Sorry for long moan

Brain has just died on me along with energy so will come back later and say all the other things I'd planned to say!

doginsantasgrotto · 06/01/2007 15:45

I don't mind being pregnant really - have had quite an easy ride of it with no sickness, just tiredness and a couple of months of rather unsightly spots. I do sympathise with those people who suffered with ms and who are still feeling yucky now. It must seem like a very long 9 months.

I feel quite organised but then suddenly see another list of 'must haves' somewhere in a magazine or whatever and panic!

Hope everyone is having a nice weekend. We are having a quiet one, I am finding more and more that a couple of hours in town or a trip to Sainsbury's is about all I can manage for activity in a day. Isn't that pathetic? Having said that, DH is fast asleep on sofa whilst I am typing this!!

We are planning to erect cotbed this weekend. Does anyone think this is way too early? (am 28 wks on Tues). I am trying to create a balance between being organised and tempting fate.

mammyjo · 06/01/2007 15:55

Hi all. I got some stretchmarks on the lower part of my belly last time but they almost disappeared after ds was born. I can see them again now but they are not too bad and no worse so far so fingers crossed!!

Katy, I have been having the odd glass of wine too. Only maybe once every couple of weeks. I am a red wine girl and one small glass really hits the spot when I feel the need!

WCL, mmm snowball drink. That takes me back, I love those!

SOL, after reading what you said about people on the conception threads I felt really guilty about whinging about being pregnant. I work with a girl who is desperate for a baby but will probably never realise her dream. Your comments brought that home to me. Will have to try and be a little more upbeat from now on. Its funny because I wouldnt change being pregnant for anything but I want to get to the end as soon as possible too. No pleasing some people!!

Pesha · 06/01/2007 16:17

Still not got off my arse to go and do anything!!
I was sort of enjoying pregnancy, I did the last 2 times ive just recently got to a point where i feel ive had enough now and i want it out! And im only 25+5. Im so huge though and theres so much needs doing Ive got the lounge to finish painting and have to swap dd and ds's rooms around and both rooms need re-wallpapering as the little sods have torn strips off and the walls are awful underneath so cant get away with just painting and I dont have energy for any of it and its frustrating me.

I am getting really excited about the baby though and have bought a few things now and a new bed for dd when she moves into the small room with lots of built in storage underneath cos it was half price. So some of my frustration is probably impatience too.

Sorry I went off on one again. Have missed moaning on mumsnet cos try not to do it in real life cos then people have to listen and be sympathetic and say nice things and then get sick of me. If i moan on here and people dont want to hear it then they can just not read it and dont get pissed off with me!!

Dog it does seem early to me but only cos i still have so much more to do before i can even think about putting up cots that it scares me to think other people are doing it already!

Oh and dp makes snowball! Couple years ago he had to go on a tank rescue course which sounds quite impressive but is actually cos they make snowball in huge tanks so he had to be trained on how to rescue people if they fall in!

Pesha · 06/01/2007 16:25

And my tummy is covered in stretch marks! I got them really bad with 1st pg. My mw swapped to hospital work for a couple months in middle of my pg and when she came back she commented how un lucky I'd been with my stretch marks. i dony know if she thought perhaps i hadnt noticed the bright red and purple lines running all over my huge bulbous stomach but actually i had and certainly didnt need them pointing out thanks all the same!! But im just very prone to them i think, when i was 11 or 12 i got thrown from my horse into a metal gate and got stretch marks on the bruise i had on my hip so always knew i'd get them really. Dd commented on my stretch marks a year or so ago and i told her they were from being pregnant and where the skin had stretched, she asked if she would get them when she has a baby and i said well maybe but she might be lucky and not got any and she burst into tears and said she wanted stretch marks on her tummy like me!!

1becomes3 · 06/01/2007 17:13

I feel a bit more organised now I have brought some bits for the DT's, also had a call from SIL as she has a 5 month old DD she is going to be packing N's bags with loads of baby stuff when he comes down next week.
It will all be designer stuff as she is crazy when it comes to brand names, she once brought DD 3 outfits the total was £320 I couldn't believe it when I found the receipt!

my back is breaking from sitting here for too long so I'm off to relax on the couch for the night now.

opinionsrus · 06/01/2007 17:36

Have just ordered one of those pregnancy pillows from Blooming Marvelous could not decide which one to get so got them both? Will return one, bit miffed that you have to pay to return though.

Has anyone else got one of these...I am sooooooolooking forward to it coming - hurry up!!!

weeonion · 06/01/2007 20:14

good evening folks and hope you all had a good saturday. the getting organised bug seems to have hit a fair few of us! we have got our act together and bought a fai bit of stuff which is now resting in BIL garage.

as for enjoying pg question. i was really really looking forward to it but it hasnt been what i was hoping. physically fine apart from tiredness and aching hips. i never thought i would feel the way i have tho in terms of moods, thoughts and depression. had another appt at the AND/PND unit yesterday. at least i am in the system now.

having said all that - i wouldnt swop being pg and hopefully a LO at the end for anything. As SOL said - there are loads of people who never get the chance to experience this - good or bad.

maveta · 06/01/2007 20:18

Girls we are discussing painting the nursery and I have heard that you should use low VOC paint for kids´ rooms particularly. Does any have an opinion on this? Is it important or did you use regular paint?

CaptainDippy · 06/01/2007 20:39

DH and I used low VOC paint on the girls' bedroom that we have just decorated - Would rather be safe than sorry, iykwim!!? Also used paint that can be scrubbed and is hard-wearing etc cos they are little monkeys!!!!

Hope you enjoy your party tonight Cornflake - How exciting!

I got my 1st stretchmarks on the DAY I went overdue with DD1 - Couldn't believe it, was gutted!! Haven't got any more with last PG or this one, but the ones I have got already are much darker, iyswim!!? I had my bellybutton pierced as a teenager and the scar tissue hasn't stretched v.well and I one v.ugly-looking bellybutton now - boy do I regret that moment of insanity!! Oh well ..... Bless your DD crying and saying that she wanted stretchmarks like mummy, Pesha - Children are fab, aren't they!!? My mum has a colostomy and I grew up thinking everyone got them when they become adults - I didn't know any different, bless me!!

How old are you Edas?? I don't feel old enough to be married with 2 and 1/2 children either!!! Madness!

I would drink a little glass of wine here and there if I could, but it just makes me feel sick and makes my heartburn awful, so no wine for me .....

Yey to your positive experience of homebirthing WCL - I am v.excited and nervous about the prospect - Had my last two in hospital and felt very "controlled" iykwim? It wasn't a particularly positive experience either time and I just want to be in my own surroundings - in a place where I'm the boss. My last baby was pre-term though, probably due to Streb B infection. So hopefully I'll get to 37 weeks this time. I am paying to have the Strep B test and if positive, my GP is prescribing me Anti-Biotics to have intravenously while I am at home - What a dude! So hopeful here.....

Sexonslightlypuffylegs · 06/01/2007 21:00

Hi ladies, hope you are all well. I hope I didn't come across a bit harsh when I talked about those ladies who were having trouble getting pg. I do appreciate that it is all relative, and I know many have been suffering, and still are.

I am knackered tonight. We have had a hectic day with some friends. We went out to lunch and then went bowling, which was great. The children loved it as they could roll the ball down a special ramp thing.

Katy, I have probably had a glass or 2 of wine each week. I didn't for the first 16 weeks or so, as I felt too rough, but I like a drop of red with dinner.

Anyway, heading for the sofa to watch some crap telly now, and will be back for a catch up tomorrow!

Happy night time. xx

nuttygirl · 06/01/2007 21:11

Evening all...it seems our internet connection is ok and ISP are still signing people up so not really sure why ppl think it's stopping its service.

Opinionsrus - I haven't got a proper pregnancy pillow but have bought a long squishy pillow that's pretty similar. Found it works too, had the best nights sleep in ages when I started using it. Don't always need it now either. Also a friend of DH is giving us a bf pillow next month so I won't need to buy one of those either.

I'm enjoying being pregnant most of the time, just get fed up struggling to turn over in bed and get out of bed! Also feeling really calm about the labour...perhaps it's first time naivety .

CaptainDippy · 06/01/2007 21:28

Anyone else getting horrific cramps?? Mine are awful!
