WO, sorry to hear you're having such a rotten time. Our preconceptions of pregnancy don't always work out do they?

I did feel quite justified in loathing pregnancy first time, though, as we'd been TTC for 4 years and been through the infertility mill . However I got raging PND and felt so guilty that I wasn't enjoying every precious second of having my much wanted baby but my HV said apparently PND is more common in women who've had fertility problems!

liath · 06/01/2007 21:37

Sorry that post makes no sense. Think I need to take my pregnant brain off to bed .

Have had a few leg cramps CD but nothing major yet.

BigBellyCornflakeKid · 06/01/2007 22:02

Evening ladies - party was good - loads of adults and kids squeezed into a house - knew most people there and perched on a stool for most of it - although my back is now killing me and had to come home early to go to bed - and put the kids to bed - a very late night for them! Dh has gone back to party...

I had two glasses of white wine which was nice - but also lots of apple juice, water and schloer! I was offered a job organising an alternative sports festival in June - not great timing really as will have just had no.3 and we have booked hols for last week in June - so unlikely to take it although money would be nice! It would be really time consuming.

I haven't put my cotbed up yet (not arrived yet!!) but I had with my first - and it was made! I need to get the nursery painted first - I have just bought dulux white emulsion - I think as long as the paint smell is gone by the time they move in it should be fine - don't know much about VOCs though Everything si ready to go up in nursery like curtains, blind, shelves etc - just need dh to get some motivation!

One of the walls is really bumpy and we are putting a coat of 'Smooth Over' on first - like a smooth coat of plaster for damaged walls - you can buy it in any of the diy places - costs about £24 - dh said would rather do that than hang wallpaper!

A friend in the village says she will machine my new glider chair cushion covers if I ply her with wine one night - good deal!

Must go have milky drink and sleep now - really tired ....zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

BigBellyCornflakeKid · 06/01/2007 22:13

Oh and I got my birthing ball but the boys got so excited have had to leave it in the car! Fear for structure of house and own safety

And...got a baby book by Caroline Deacon - baby calming - was recommended - off ebay for £1!

When these things happen I feel able to justify bigger outgoings (i.e. wants rather than needs from the luxury baby list )

Bed now.....really will got his time!

runnyhabbit · 06/01/2007 22:15

Evening all

Nice to see we're back to our "usual" 100 messages a day

Be warned, rant alert. For the past day or so, dh has had a fever, sore throat etc. And of course, being an ill man means everything is twice as bad He decided to come with me when I went shopping earlier, except he whinged the whole time we were out. In the end, we had a HUGE argument in Clarks (ds needed new shoes) Also reminded him that it's my birthday tomorrow, I expect to have a present and a card to open. He's got such a rubbish memory, the number of times he's just "popped out" on my birthday to get a card, and either stuck cash, or an iou in it That must makes me sound really ungrateful, but today everything just came to a head. He went out this afternonn with ds, so I chilled on the sofa, and by the time he'd come back, I felt a bit calmer, and he apologised. As I pointed out, when I'm ill, the washing, ironing, house stuff etc, still has to be done. When he's ill, the world has to stop. Men!

I'm hoping for homebirth too. Didn't think I'd be able too as ds was induced, and was an assisted birth, but mw is all for homebirth. So fingers crossed. Big plus for us is the hospital is less than 10mins away, even in rush hour.

I really enjoyed my first pregnancy, and this one has is pretty much the same apart form the tiredness. Have felt guilty at times that I haven't got the energy to do lots of things with ds. But he does lots of things in the mornings with gp/nursery, so our afternoons are generally reading or colouring.

So much for my quick post! Any way, am going now to have a bowl of raspberries - yum

take care chicks

Man flu - [wank] - oops sorry

Have a very happy birthday runny

Sexonslightlypuffylegs · 07/01/2007 08:37

Morning all, and HAPPY BIRTHDAY Runny! Hope dh managed to drag his butt out and buy you something fab. Let us know!!

How is everyone today? I am knackered. Took ages to get to sleep, then dd woke up at midnight - took ages for me to drop off again after that. Then dh was tossing and turning in bed, and then dd came in at 6.30 a.m! I had a lie in yesterday, so dh's turn today - boo hiss!

Dd always seems to wake up early on days we don't need to be up, and then when we do need to be up, she sleeps until gone 8.00! TYPICAL!! While I still need to get up to get ready.

Rant over!

Going to head, as need a cup of tea.

Happy Sunday all. xx

Katy44 · 07/01/2007 09:03

Happy Birthday runnyhabit!
Can't believe it's Sunday already, where does the weekend go?

OP posts:
CaptainDippy · 07/01/2007 09:35

Happy Birthday!! - to Runny!! Hope you have a lovely day honey and that DH managed to get you a card and gift, despite the fact that the world is coming to an end - Grrrrrrr! I do know exactly what you mean, although my DH is v.lovely nd a fabtastic Father; he has the memory of a gnat on hallucinagenic drugs - he can't remember ANYTHING - Drives me completely NUTS - e.g. While I was working yesterday, he drove half-an-hour away to go to PC World because we had an unspent voucher. He went into PC World, merrily spend our money and then got back to the car and drove home. It was only when he got home that he realised he hadn't used the voucher!!!!!!!! THAT'S WHAT YOU WENT ALL THE WAY OUT THERE FOR!!!!!!! Hello?? Goodness me - MEN!!!

[[hugs]] of sympathy to us all with useless men!!

Mmmmmmmmmm, anyway, we're off out to church in a mo, so should really go and get DD's shoes on etc.....

Baby is kicking HARD this morning -

opinionsrus · 07/01/2007 10:16

Well I am going to have another moan anyway.

Does anyone feel STUPIDLY tired ALL of the time. I can remember this last time, but this time have hypo 3 yr old to deal with aswell. Those of you first time pregancies make the most of it!

Have started to take iron tablets - self diagnosed - to see if that helps. Feel constantly exhausted as if I am on sleeping tablets/drowsy all the time - which I'm not by the way.

Anyway this is going to be my moan thread for now on, only kidding. If I can find energy off to take sprogger to the park later! Bye!

Weeflump · 07/01/2007 10:35

Morning all

Happy Birthday Runny, congratulations to GlitterKitty on blue bean and zazas on your engagement, what a wonderful way to start the year
Good to hear that your cat came home aswell Maveta
I PSML with all the positions talk cheered my day up no end.

I think that the nesting bug is setting in for most of us. I have done a little shopping, just a rocker and new changing mat.....oh and a few more clothes but really dont need much with it being number 4.
We couldn't find the newborn/0-3months bag of clothes and I was on the verge of throughing a complete wobbly when I heard the shout of "is this it?" from the loft PHEW - wobbly diverted and heart rate returned to normal.
We are having to be a bit more organised because we are moving sometime next year. It will be shortly after april so need to find house, pack house, sell house...oh dear!
I have booked a hotel for the end of Jan for us to view some houses so fingers crossed that one of them is right then Bonny Scotland here we come
I dont think that it is too early to be doing some of the bigger jobs, I find that I have quite alot of energy at this stage but not alot later on so I do try cut down what I have to do later on IFYSWIM. I agree with the trip to Sainsburys now being a trial of strength though.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend

BigBellyCornflakeKid · 07/01/2007 10:36

Happy Birthday Runny

Opinionsrus - does your 3 year old go to playgroup yet? Might be a good time to rest ratherthan do stuff - if not at work iyswim!

I have to say my two have been great recently - played really nicely - all back to work/school/playgroup this week after 3 1/2 weeks off!

I am trying to fill in my MA1 for maternity allowance and cannot find any of the documents I need to send...there is no way I would have thrown away my tax exemption cert or child benefit details but they are AWOL - so that is my mission for the day! If not will have to ring various places to retrieve the info tomorrow - does anyone know whether the number on your bank credit is your child benefit number or is a bank reference? aarggghh! My payslips are all in work anyway so no rush as not going in til thurs.
I am not going to send in til beginning of feb so if need duplicates should hopefully get them by then....[hmmm]

Have a nice day everyone xoxoxoxox

flumppootle · 07/01/2007 10:57

Sorry name changing drama
Was Hollyhormone, the Weeflump now Flumppootle....
need a cup of tea now

Sexonslightlypuffylegs · 07/01/2007 11:18

Hi all, opinionsrus, I too feel absolutely knackered most of the time, and also have a 3.6 year old hyper child (dd). Irrespective of how much sleep I get I feel most days that I have barely slept. Yesterday was a good day, although by 7.00 p.m. I could have gone to bed. Today I feel like a zombie!
Am wondering now if I should finish work earlier. I am due at the end of April and have said I will head at the end of March. I only do 3 days a week and my job is not physical, but feel so shattered! I will think on.

Know what you mean about forgetful dh's. Dh is a truly wonderful dad and husband, but I am sick to death of reminding him to do things and reminding him he needs to get cards/pressies for parents etc. I have reminded him twice today already that we need to go to town so he can get something for his bloody mother! I would be quite happy if he didn't get her anything (what a bitch I am!!!!!).

Also get annoyed when dh asks me something he could so easily find out. This morning, he asked if the garden furniture cushions could be washed as our shed has leaked and they stink! I was upstairs at the time in the bathroom; he was with the blasted cushions. So I shouted back, check the label!

God, sorry this has gone in to a rant.

Better go!!!

thewilderbeast · 07/01/2007 11:19

Hello everyone,

I'm having a terribly anxious couple of days and am feeling a bit bonkers. Was wondering if there was anyone there who could tell me to calm down! For some reason i have become obsessed with the idea that i ahve passed Toxoplasmosis to my baby. I am obsessively reading research and writing down all the times i might have eaten bad things. I'm generally quite careful but have eaten roast dinners that were a bit pink (not rare though) twice (though i don't think i ate the pink bits as have gone of rare meat anyway.) I'm aware that this comes across as overly self indulgent. I can't talk to DP about it as he thinks i'm insane and my rabbit ate through my telephone cord so can't talk to my mum!

Has anyone else eaten something bad before and produced a healthy baby AND

Does anyone else get consumed by anxiety and paranoia sometimes? (It's happened to me before - convinced baby had FAS as drank a lot week after conception.)

Sexonslightlypuffylegs · 07/01/2007 11:25

Wilderbeast, I am sorry you are feeling a bit panicy. Perfectly natural, but I don't think you have any worries. I ate and have eaten this time round, nuts, smoked salmon and have had some booze. And I know someone else was saying that they had had all sorts of stuff that they weren't supposed to. I think everything in moderation. If you are worried still, can you see your mw, hv or gp?

Hugs xx

thewilderbeast · 07/01/2007 11:46

Thank you SOSPL,

That's what i need to hear! I spoke to my midwife about having a blood teat ages ago but she said i really had nothing to worry about and the risks were so small that it wasn't worth the worry involved in having the test in the first place.

I should be able to calm myself down really, considering my job. Sometimes i wonder what is worse- my raised anxiety levels about possible exposure to hazards or the potential exposure itself!

Must finish my essay anyway.

p.s i really don't like my nickname but can't work out how to change it - does anyone know how to do it?

peneloperabbit · 07/01/2007 12:16

Hello,

In an attempt to move away from anxious ridiculousness i have changed my name from thewilderbeast to peneloperabbit. Much nicer i think.

Katy44 · 07/01/2007 12:27

thewilderbeest - from the little I have read about toxoplasmosis in pregnancy, even if you have done the 'naughty' things the risks are still miniscule that you'll develop it. Also, if you used to do this stuff in the past (eat pink meat etc) you're probably already immune. Might be worth stopping though - sure you have already! - as it seems the risks increase (from miniscule to slighlty less miniscule) in the 3rd trimester.

OP posts:
peneloperabbit · 07/01/2007 12:37

Thanks Katy44,

It's brown meat all the way for me from now on!
Just hope i don't find a new fixation as i don't think i can cope with another weekend like this!

I think it's a combination of being alone in the house as dp is working and having an essay to write which means being strapped to the computer (and therefore easy access to internet) Probably a slightly weird form of work avoidance!

Katy44 · 07/01/2007 12:58

I know what you mean, in my first few months I read about SPD and it seemed that everyone had it - I was dreading it (I know it's still not too late but have become a bit more laid back!)
I also have the usual first-timer panics - this is all so new to me!

OP posts:
Sexonslightlypuffylegs · 07/01/2007 13:12

Lovely new name peneloperabbit. Really hope you can relax and enjoy the rest of pg. Good luck with the essay. Hi Katy!

CaptainDippy · 07/01/2007 13:32

[[hugs]] peneloperabbit, bless you honey - totally understand the panicy-ness etc - we all get anxious about stuff that seems silly from time-to-time and you already love the wee Bean growing inside you - he/she is so precious, so it is only natural that you should worry sweetheart - Just take a few deep breaths and calm down though - high BP is ALSO not good for PG or baby!! These Beans are v.tough you know - I am sure everything is absolutely fine, just relax and nuke that roast beef joint next time, eh!!?

Yes, opinionrus - sometimes I am soooo tired, I feel like I could just die. My tiredness / energy levels seem to fluxuate all over the place - I actually feel fine and dandy and pretty awake today, but this time yesterday when I was working in the shop, I could bearly keep my eyes open! I was soooo worried I was just going to drop off suddenly and someone was going to come into the shop and steal everything while I was snoring away merrily!! Good idea about the iron - May I recommend Flouridix? It is a liquid iron supplement and is v.good and doesn't give you consitipation like the tablets. It is available from most Health Foody type shops.

How is everyone elses Sunday going? DD2 is napping and DD1 is out for a walk with daddy, so guess I had best do something productive - as well as gossiping on here!!

nuttygirl · 07/01/2007 13:47

Hi all,

I know what you mean about forgetful DHs too. I had to remind DH to buy his dad a birthday card. I wouldn't mind but they have the same birthday . Then again the first time DH told me his birthday he got the date wrong , must've been the booze!

PR - like the new name! Don't stress too much about what you've eaten...when my sis was pg she had terrible morning sickness and the only thing she could keep down was liver (which my grandma used to cook for her), nowadays we get told not to have liver! Her kids are all fine. I think a lot of it is the medical profession erring on the side of caution IYSWIM. Oh and if you're up for meeting up perhaps we could organise something for a couple of weeks time? Email me: hazel at theraisons dot me dot uk

HAPPY BIRTHDAY RH!

nuttygirl · 07/01/2007 13:56

Oh and yes, I get tired v often. Can't imagine what it would be like if I was working aswell!

Got phonecall from dad today asking if DH could go to B&Q and Wickes to get all the building stuff he's gonna need this week (he's finishing off patio, weather permitting) so my Sunday plans have kinda gone up in smoke! Was planning on having roast dinner but DH forgot to get meat out of freezer and haven't been able to get to supermarket cos hubby has been getting building stuff. So he'll have to make do with fishcake & chips! Was also gonna make some cornflake cake things but when I went to the supermarket the other night for ingredients I got the cocoa powder and forgot the cornflakes how silly am I?
