Thanks for all the supportive comments girls, you really are a lovely bunch! I feel a bit better now, have ranted to my Mum and one of my best friends back home who has recently had a baby. She said she put 3 stone on and now weighs less than she did before. Both of them told me to ignore her, just like you guys, so I think I shall.

I am sure she is a lovely person really, she´s actually one of my dh´s cousin´s best friends (there´s a tenuous link for you...) and his cousin is an adorable woman so I can only imagine they would be quite similar..but her manner as a MW really leaves a lot to be desired. I think she has managed to offend one or both of us in every appointment we have had. and I wouldn´t say we were people who offend easily. But I guess I would say that, would´t I hehe.

Anyway, I went for a nice long walk with my Mum and blew out the cobwebs and put it all in perspective. We´re just so emotional anyway, it seems like people who work with pregnant women should remember that!! I cried when I came home from seeing her, just before I posted and I have not had a cry-y pregnancy really. bah. but thank you all very much really, you´ve been very sweet and made me feel much better.

On other things, I think I mentioned all of this before on a much much much earlier thread but I am Jennie (29) he is Gabriel (30) we live in Mallorca, which is where he is from but I am British..mainly from Scotland, and this is our first.

Want to add another vote for the continuingly lovely photos of posters and their babes alike.. emmymummy your wee one looks like a wee drew barrymore!

Sexonslightlypuffylegs · 10/01/2007 18:50

Wow, loads of posts, and what a great idea to share info. It's so lovely to see people and their lo's. All beautiful - and you ladies too!

Maveta, I know it has been said before, but I cannot get over your midwife's comments. They are so bloody ridiculous. There is no way on earth you should be dieting whilst pregnant, or breastfeeding for that matter. Makes me mad!

I am on the laptop just now, and have very few photos stored on this, so will move on to the proper PC later and attempt to post some pics of me, dd and maybe dh.

By the way Maveta, where in Majorca are you?

Right, need to head just now for dd bath time, and then will be back. xx

EllieK · 10/01/2007 18:55

not sure i'm letting him do either for a while, kind of ruin the romantic early days iyswim!
i'm rather unusual (or so i'm led to believe!) in that i don't really enjoy the 'licking' thing. don't own a rabbit either but after reading previous posts on the subject on here i think i may have to invest in one!

maveta · 10/01/2007 18:59

Hi SOL, I was in Palma but we had a 6 month work break in London last winter and when we came back in April we decided to head for the villages so we are currently in Binissalem. Do you know the island?

I decided to follow the diet sheet for dinner, JUST to see what the portion sizes were like and have just eaten

  • a raw carrot (raw because i couldn´t be bothered cooking it!)
  • the tiniest baked potato I´ve ever seen (I swear I would never have said 150g of potato was so little..it´s like a medium sized potato, which is fine on the side of a steak or chicken breast but as a baked potato it sucks ass) with cheese on top
  • a hard boiled egg

and am now making my 150g of strawberries last as long as possible.

I could never in a million years do this, I mean I seriously eat pretty healthy but my potato would have been bigger for a start. Sod it, as soon as any hunger pangs start, I´m right back off to that fridge

DH is not in so I am off to watch Ice Princess starring Michelle Trachtenberg of Buffy The Vampire Slayer fame and Joan Cusack. It should be really awful and I can´t wait...

Eddas · 10/01/2007 19:49

Pesha, i live in maidstone and i'm 28 too!

Re weight gain, was weighing DD as thought she needed new car seat, which she does, shes 2&7 months but needs an aged 3/4 car seat already but she is tall, not sure why! Anyway thought i'd stand on scales and weigh 13 stone , dh kindly said so that's an extra 5 stone then !! Bless, think it's more like 1 1/2 or 2 extra but i know i was a bit overweight before, oh well i'll go back to weight watchers after the birth

Sexonslightlypuffylegs · 10/01/2007 19:51

Sexonslightlypuffylegs · 10/01/2007 19:53

Maveta, have been to Majorca many times. In fact dh and I stayed there and he proposed to be on the beach at Puerto Pollensa. We have been back there a few times, and Becky's first holiday was there when she was 5 months old. I love the place!

AngeG · 10/01/2007 19:55

Evening all just thought I'd post a few pictures for you all.

Me
Jake & stepdaughters
Me and DP when pg last time

Will try and post a more recent one of me with bump but don't have any yet.

BigBellyCornflakeKid · 10/01/2007 19:59

OMG another 50 messages - more great photos.

Maveta - I think as long as you eat a balanced diet you will be fine - you do need extra food in pg for energy and baby - my sister put on masses in her pg as got a chinese takeaway delivered to work everyday as an afternoon snack - slightly excessive and porky! I do need to eat every hour or I go all dizzy - so have loads of fruit, crackers, sandwiches and chocolate ready to eat.

I don't have any scales but think I weigh about 10 stone - haven't been weighed at all in any pregnancy so not sure how much have put on - it doesn't bother me really - I am more concerned about being fit and healthy than keeping weight down.

I have to go to work tommorow - having glass of red wine to knock me out then early night....zzzzzzzzzz

BigBellyCornflakeKid · 10/01/2007 20:03

Maveta - we have friends on Majorca - they run Reads Hotel - somewhere in the middle - Santa something I think. Have been a few times - lovely island and Reads Hotel was amazing.

Sexonslightlypuffylegs · 10/01/2007 20:05

Ange, I can't see your pics - it just comes up with the home page of photobucket. Am I being dim? Woudn't surprise me!!

Emmymummy · 10/01/2007 20:08

I think you & all your little ones are gorgeous - what a good idea to do this.

I'm not worrying about what I eat - would rather not be hungry & dizzy and worry about the pounds later. The diet & gym will still be there once the babies are born!

Sexonslightlypuffylegs · 10/01/2007 20:20

Birdiebump, I meant to say how sorry I was to hear of your loss 12 years ago. He and you were very young to go through something like that. Thinking of you. xx

Bramshott · 10/01/2007 20:47

Oh I'm loving all these photos! I'm on the laptop tonight, but I'll try and work out how to post one when I'm on the other PC tomorrow. I'm Cathy by the way, and my DD (4 this weekend) is Niamh. We live in Hampshire and I work from home on music-based projects (mostly classical).

DH (Brian, but Irish-like so pronounced to rhyme with Ian) is working late tonight so I have just cooked and eaten a yummy vegetable biriyani . I'll just let it go down, and then brew up my hot chocolate which I am drinking loads of. I usually weigh about 8 1/4 stone, and I think this time I am up to 9 3/4 already. Last time I was about 10 stone by 33 weeks (when I had DD) so I was thinking I'd done pretty well. Think I will just put my fingers in my ears and sing lalalalala and carry on thinking I've done quite well!! I was back to my normal weight within a year. No dieting Maveta, but you already know that!!

Have forgotten all the other stuff I was going to post now. Hope work is okay tomorrow BBCK. I have to go to London for a meeting tomorrow at 6.00, which I am really about as I know I'll just be exhausted and starving all the way through! Will be back about 10.00, just in time to roll into bed.

AngeG · 10/01/2007 20:51

Sorry guys not sure what happened with my photos. I'll try again, it worked when I did preview.

me
me and DP when PG last time
Jake & Stepdaughters

Fingers crossed it has worked this time. If not I give up.

maveta · 10/01/2007 20:55

I wish I could just refuse to be weighed, I´d be much happier going by how I feel than what the scales say which even in less sensitive times can reflect little of your true physical state.

SOL - it is a lovely place, I have been here for almost 4 years now and I love it.

Cornflakekid - how funny! It´s in Santa Maria which is the next village but one from me, which translates as about 7 km. But little is a coincidence in Mallorca, it´s so teeny it sometimes seems like everyone knows everyone else. Or if you have lived here all your life, you´re all related in some way!

Quick question - the magnum ice cream truffles my mum bought me and which are still in the freezer...would they be part of the diet? They´re only teeny tiny...

Bramshott · 10/01/2007 20:57

Magnum ice cream truffles sound like they're bursting with calcium to me (like my hot chocolate!) - and chocolate has iron in doesn't it?!?

mammyjo · 10/01/2007 20:59

Sounds like perfect diet food to me!!

AngeG · 10/01/2007 21:04

It works for me!! Hope it does for everyone else!

Weight wise I totally agree with what everyone else has said, it's nothing to worry about everyone has different weight gain during pg.
I was about 8 1/2 stone when I found out I was pg but lost some due to morning sickness. I have just hit the 9 stone mark, so don't think I'm doing too bad. In my first pg, I started at about 8 stone and was 9 stone 3 when I had Jake at 34wks.

Sexonslightlypuffylegs · 10/01/2007 21:05

Maveta, I think they sound spot on myself! Perhaps you could save one for your lovely midwife!

Sexonslightlypuffylegs · 10/01/2007 21:06

Ange, lovely pics - you look so young!

liath · 10/01/2007 21:07

Lots of calcium in those ice creams, maveta - good for developing bones so I'd say they're vtal !

Smashing pic, Ange, can see htem this time.

Weeonion - would love to meet & distract you from work one lunchtime (except fridays) - drop me an email at [email protected]. It's easy for me to get into town from where I live.

AngeG · 10/01/2007 21:09

Thanks SOLPL. I really like you
I am often told that I look young and even got asked for ID at a nightclub last summer. Having said that I've aged during this pg I think or maybe it's just the weight gain.

muminabigtumi · 10/01/2007 22:03

Oooh this is fabtastic - I LOVE meeting everyone! lol

Gosh everyone looks great and some seriously cute little people!

Maveta - OMG - add me to the list of people who think you MW is a nutter! Please do not stress!!! I am just back from Slimming World and have managed to lose 3 pounds this week but have put on 1 1/2 stone so far and am up to 15 and a half stone this pregnancy and my midwife hasn't batted an eyelid! You look gorgeous from your pic and lovley and healthy so do not give it another thought and EAT THE ICE CREAM! lol Do you remember me telling you about the Health Visitor at work saying I was fat? Well she did it again to me today....just walked in and went "Hello Fatty" and laughed - I seriously am not kidding - I was gobsmacked and then she said "Had one to many mince pies over Christmas". I actually said "Are you having a laugh" ....and obviously did not look very happy. Then one of my collegues sprang to my defence and told her to stop being so insensitive at which she cackled with laughter...and this woman is going to be my health visitor!!! If she thinks she's coming over my front soor she can think again - silly old HAG. I told Phil and he just said that at least I can diet - she will always be a wizzened old hag! HA

Whose going to second a Post Natal Meet Up at Mavetas pad then!? Sounds so lovely where you are!

EllieK - your new man sounds great! I asked Phil if he would do the honours on the trimming front and he laughed in my face....should of expected it really as he won't lick it either! {sorry!}

Dog in grotto - I love your dog - fab pick - what is he called. My Mum has 2 jack russells - so imaginitivley named Jack and.....er Russell

Laith - I officially hate you - I thought that pic was of you now...not just about to pop!!! (just kidding your lovley really - will add pic of me at full term last time...IE HOUSE END!!!!

pat9months

Haven't taken one of this bump yet - notice my pic conveniently disguised my body with James in front of it....oh I did have one taken at Xmas but I look miserable as sin on it!
