Scan moved me back one day so I'm 10w0, little bean was very active and I am over the moon, feeling so much calmer now its properly confirmed!

Bluecarrot · 12/03/2016 17:10

That's a fab pic giggle!

athousandsplendidsuns · 12/03/2016 17:17

ooh lovely news gigglebert. I've got a scan booked for mon when I should be 8+5 (but I have random length cycles so could only be 7 weeks) and although its a private reassurance one, it's making me worry, not sure why! NHS scan and end of nausea seems SO far away! Last time I felt quite rough til 15 weeks. What's a harmony test fairground?

Bluecarrot · 12/03/2016 17:54

I seem to be suffering from both insomnia and exhaustion. Took me an hour to drop off earlier and 15 mins later DP brought dd up for a nap and she climbed all over me before asking for lunch.
Family dinner tonight and I want to cry :(. ( thankfully I'm not cooking)

IrregularCommentary · 12/03/2016 18:50

Snap nosnow and indi - my 12 week scan is 1st April as well. Perfect as both dh and I are off work that week so will get to enjoy it a bit more than if we had to rush back to work afterwards.

Nosnowjustrain · 12/03/2016 20:01

always wow that's some coincidence!
irregular good for work, not so good for childcare!

kittyvet · 12/03/2016 20:08

Sorry MIA for over a month now! So exhausted and sick this time I am literally just existing right now!
Had my dating scan on Monday and as I suspected only 11weeks so they couldn't do the combined screening or nuchal measurements. Going back a week Monday for another go! Best news was its just the one as has convinced myself it's twins!!!

kittyvet · 12/03/2016 20:49

athousand splendid suns a harmony test looks at the baby's DNA in your blood for signs of Downs and other trisomies. It is more accurate than the combined screening on the NHS. Luckily I fitted the criteria to get one via the local hospital (I found out by chance that they will take the blood for one- still have to pay). Otherwise it would have been a 2 hour round trip to a private clinic. They took the bloods the other day and I should get results next week. They will still measure nuchal translucency but not bother with combined screening if results are back by then.

TheCake · 12/03/2016 20:49

Figgy I've just had a private scan and NIFTY today. I was worried that my NHS scan would come back high risk anyway as I'm 36 so I wanted as much evidence as possible to avoid a CVS- although I know chance of miscarriage is very rare. Anyway, they can do the NT test from 11 weeks. They did that today for me (mine was 1.2mm) and also looked for other markers such as presence of a nose bone. It was 395 for that and the bloods (which take up to 10 days but are often much quicker). To be honest, I would have spend the money (and I don't have lots) on the scan alone. She spent ages trying to get the exact measurements - my baby kept doing somersaults and would not stay still! And all of the time explained exactly what she was looking for and was very reassuring. I am measuring further along than I thought and I am (according to the scan) 12 weeks today! My NHS scan is a week on Wednesday and I am looking forward to that; my post is not in any way intended to knock the NHS- which I think is amazing. I just wanted to have the most accurate blood test available (which I am sure will be on the NHS before too long anyway).

Although I have felt much more chilled out this week than I have since I found out I was pregnant, I decided to book in for an early scan today. I'm hopefully going to have it on Friday when I'll be 8+3. I'd like some reassurance that all is ok having got past weeks 6/7 which seem to be the most risky. I'm still tired, still have sore boobs and have minor queasiness so hoping that's a good sign.

The comments about no one having twins have got me thinking too, so I'd like to see all's ok and how many are in there! My Mam had twins so I know that increases my odds, but I realised yesterday that her sister also had twins, which I'm sure must increase the odds even more, plus I'm over 35 which also increases the odds Confused

Now into my fourth sober weekend, haha! Discovered Eisberg A/Free Sauvignon blanc in waitrose yesterday. It's the best of the 3 'wines' I have tried, if anyone is interested x

IrregularCommentary · 12/03/2016 23:31

#1 for me nosnow so no childcare complications luckily.

climbingcheesecake · 13/03/2016 07:10

Congrats to all who have had new scans! nice pic giggle.

and welcome to the newbies!

I am supposedly 11 weeks today - eek. First scan is in 12 days.. and then I am seeing my family two days after so hopefully its good news, then I can share it with them.

Symptoms are manageable at the moment, I have a general sickness feeling and tiredness that seems to be always in the background. I think I am getting used to it and have forgotten what it is like to feel normal.

I had an interview for a new job last week, which went well and they've invited me for a second interview this week. I don't know what to do because I really want the job, and can't tell them yet about the pregnancy as I am not even 12 weeks yet, but if they offer it to me, I will have to soon - and then I am pretty sure they are going to want to employ me.

Figgygal · 13/03/2016 07:18

Ooh climbing that's a tough one is it a new job at a new employer or a different job in a current employer? I think I would give it up if it was a completely new role/employer by time you'd get through a notice period and join you could be 16+ Weeks I can't imagine that would start your relationship on a positive note. It's rubbish but maybe bad timing?

Gigglebert · 13/03/2016 07:26

climbing that's a really difficult one, I reckon you shouldn't tell them until they offer the post as they legally can't withdraw it then, but wouldn't accept without confirmation of their policies on mat leave as you may find that you wouldn't be entitled to their benefits of you join them too late in your pregnancy!

I just slept the best I have since finding out I was pregnant... Not sure if that's down to feeling less stressed after the scan or if it's just that my symptoms are easing just now but I'll take it, glad to have slept til 6 rather than 3!

Afreshstartplease · 13/03/2016 07:31

Morning all 9+1 today

Had a lot of sleep this weekend but don't even feel any better for it

Sure I've never been this tired in previous pregnancies, dreading work this week

Blueskygirl30 · 13/03/2016 07:35

Morning!

I've still not got my scan date, I'm 10+1 today so will give them until Wednesday and then chase it up I think.

Climbingcheesecake congratulations on getting the second interview. I would personally not tell them before they offer you the job, bearing in mind that legally you don't have to tell an employer until the 15th week before the baby is due. If the job involves high risk activities that you won't be able to do whilst pregnant I'd tell them when they offered the job.Otherwise I'd do what suits you best, but don't tell them before they offer the job!

I hope people are feeling ok, in been trying to keep up with the thread but then been terrible at posting myself by the time I get to the end!!

Afreshstartplease · 13/03/2016 07:39

Oh I received my scan date

I'm disappointed that it's so far away

8th April

Havetobecrazytolivehere · 13/03/2016 07:48

My scan is April first too. Seems appropriate for me!

Luckily I am not working that week but as I am our childcare (being a childminder) my DH will have to stay at home with the dcs whilst I go to the scan.
Helped run our local NCT sale yesterday so am really tired today but it was nice to browse all the baby things without looking crazy.
10 weeks today, finally but expecting scan to put me back two days as I ovulated late. Hope everyone has had a good weekend.

climbingcheesecake · 13/03/2016 07:50

Thanks. It is a new job, for a new company. I am currently freelance, so it would be really nice for me to have something secure for the next 6 months. I wouldn't get mat pay from them anyway as I am already pregnant, but I could get Maternity Allowance.
I think I might as well go to the next interview and see what happens. I may not even get the job, and I still don't know that there is a real live baby in there.

It could be a weird silver lining if the scan is bad news.

I am jealous of your good nights sleep giggle!

IndiX · 13/03/2016 08:13

Is anyone else experiencing a sore lower back/coccyx? I don't know if it's something I've done at the gym or just pressure from inside, it's not extremely painful but I am aware of it when walking or sometimes lying in certain positions.

Afreshstartplease · 13/03/2016 08:44

My back has been awful at times

Generally achey on a daily basis but at times really aggravated by things like having to push dd in the pram

I'm trying to avoid using it now but sometimes it's just unavoidable

Tacoyaki · 13/03/2016 08:52

Kitty and Cake, really useful to hear about the private NIPT screenings. I'm considering having this but it sounds like my hospital does a similar screening (the Reflex DNA) if the results of the combined test are high. If they are very high they do it for free and if you are close to the threshold and concerned you can pay (about £300). If anybody knows if this would be the same as Harmony, NIFTY etc that would be helpful (eg same scope and accuracy?). Otherwise I'll call my hospital to ask next week and report back...

For those who've had the private screenings in London - any recommendations for clinics?

Planeteer · 13/03/2016 09:21

Afresh we're scan twins, mine is on the 8th too and feels about a hundred years away! What time is yours?

Afreshstartplease · 13/03/2016 09:23

Oh yay someone to share the wait with

I think it's at 10am

I'll be 12+6 how far will you be?

Planeteer · 13/03/2016 09:51

Mine's at 4.30. Think I'll be 12+1 but dates are still a little bit up in the air! Looking forward to getting a more definite idea from the scan.

When's your booking in appt?
