I thought I'd start a new thread now we'be reached 1,000 posts on the last one!

Gone through the posts and picked up a couple of new people.

I think today is going to be a caffeine coffee day for me too. DD woke at 4.30 and I could not get her back to sleep so she came into bed with us at 5:15. I love having her in bed with us, she is so snuggly and warm.
It's good to know the real science behind decaf coffee Giggle the story I heard probably came from someone who got it from the the Daily Fail Mail

Have spoken to the hospital and practically begged them to bring forward my scan they were very nice about it but they have no earlier appointments so I am going to have to go to see family and my best friends and lie all weekend whilst trying to hide what is going on (which physically might be impossible by then) and then tell them on the phone as not up again until end of May. I am gutted feel so deflated appointment is now not until 31st March when I will be 13 wks I found out I was pg on 1st February!!!!!! I wont tell them without knowing there Is a baby in there still and that I would want the nuchal test too first I could pay for a reassurance scan but wouldn't get the nuchal and if I pay for that because of dates I would unlikely have those results before I went anyway. This is rubbish!!!

Figgy you could have a private nuchal at 11+2 or have the harmony blood test at 10 weeks, which includes a scan. Otherwise maybe keep calling to see if there are any cancellations.

Giggle could you pretend that you are lending tor doppler to someone and that is why you need it back?

Just on way back from EPU. Couldn't see reason for blood even though it was detected in swab again. But baby is fine and I just need to take it easy for a few days.

She checked my ovaries, measured lots of things I don't remember, and showed me the previous c section scars and everything. Really lovely lady. Feel v reassured.

Though still baffled by discharge.

Think there was a few other scans today? Hope all go well :)

Eggy the way we're all feeling about food at the moment I'm not surprised you cried when denied the one thing you wanted to eat!

Figgy I really feel for you and totally understand. I was like this with my last pregnancy, and got all my announcements lined up, twisting people's arns to commit to arrangements well in advance that they couldn't really make, then sadly never got the chance. This time I haven't a clue when I'm going to tell people. Literally all my plans with friends and family that don't live local (that's best friends and most family) are all too early. I guess that's just the way it works out. I'll cross that bridge (if) when I come to it. I hope you get something worked out.

Total moaning post from me here. DS caught a horrendous stomach bug on Tuesday and we have all gone down one after the other. Luckily DH got it last just as I was on the turn but I have never been so sick in my life. It really was a nasty one. DS was one vomit away from needing to be taken to A&E for a drip at 1 am but thankfully he fell asleep and kept the last sips of water down. I'm now so so tired and grumpy and hungry but no food appeals!

In better news, the practice manager called and they have kindly arranged my 12 week scan and bloods and appointment with the MFM Dr (basically a consultant over here) all on the same day so I don't have to keep going back. He's coming in early at 7.30 am to talk through DS's premature birth and the options/plan this time to keep this little bean in longer. I know there is a lot to complain about with the US Healthcare system but we really did have amazing care last time round. I'm still terrified that things will go wrong though!!

Thank you to whoever mentioned the Swiss water system. A coffee place nearby uses it to make their decaf so I'll be trying that when we're all better!

Quick question - my periods were irregular before I fell pregnant, so obviously over the moon to actually be pregnant. To my calculations I'm 7 weeks and 6 days. I had my booking in appointment last week and after telling the midwife about my irregular periods before, she said I could be 11 weeks (now nearly 13 weeks). She even went as far to write my estimated due date as 15th September on my maternity record, even though I worked it out to be around 22nd October. She said my scan should be in the next couple of weeks as they like to do it between 12/14 weeks here.

I got my scan date in the post yesterday for 12th April - if I go by my calculations that makes me 12 weeks, but if I go by the midwife's calculations I'll be 17 weeks! Is this right?

What should I do? I know it's hard because I'm not totally sure how far gone I am, but should I try to get an earlier scan date? Is 17 weeks normal? Should I call the hospital or my midwife? Little bit confused so any advise would be great.

Good news blue, I had one today too and all good in there-still only one!-and measuring slightly ahead of where I thought I was so now 10+2 but guess that can change again at the 12 week scan later this month. Slight relief for a few days until I start panicking again!

Dotty I'm also 7 weeks and 6 days, with irregular periods before getting pregnant. My scan letter came through today for 31 March, which means I'll almost be 11 weeks according to my prediction of a 22 October due date. It's strange how our scan dates are so different!

Dotty if I was you I would phone up and query it some tests and checks can't be performed as late as 17 weeks

How long have people waited between booking in appointments and receiving scan date in the post?

It's not even been a week yet but I want to know when it is!

I booked in over two weeks ago and no scan date yet. I saw a different midwife this week and she has re-faxed the forms. The midwife I usually have is rubbish so I wouldn't be surprised if she hadn't sent it in the first place!

Teagirl, ahh yours sounds more like it. I think I'm going to ring them on Monday and query it as you guys said. Especially as you said some tests cannot be done at 17 weeks! Grrr. Thanks for the help ladies X

Is anyone paying for private scans or testing? Since yesterday's disappointments been looking at private scans and nuchal tests and the harmony and nipt test I still don't think I can get the tests and the results back before going on 24th have agreed with dh I'm telling my parents regardless. I don't remember being as worried last time but at 35 now I'm definitely more aware of risks

I am going to have a private reassurance scan Figgy but probably not the harmony and will have the nuchal on the NHS.

afreshstart I got my scan date the day I got my positive test but the system is obviously different in Edinburgh, I self referred to the midwife over the phone and she made my booking and scan appointments while I was on the phone and the letters arrived two days later! I'd be going crazy if I still didn't have a date for a scan or had had to wait until booking to know when it would be! 29th of March for me for my 12 week scan but have booked a private reassurance scan for this afternoon so that we can tell family over Easter with some confidence

gigglebert that's what I did this time round too. I thought to myself this is baby number 2, I've done this before, not going to fanny around with a GP appointment, so rang the MW myself, got my booking app for the 16th March, scan date for 18th April and my letter came in the post about 3 days later confirming the scan date.
My doctor was really mean last time round anyway

figgy I am paying for the Harmony test privately at the fetal medicine centre on Harley St. It's £400 and you get a scan at 10 weeks when they take your blood, the nucal scan at 12 weeks when you go back for results, and CVS if harmony comes back high risk. I've got my 10 week appointment booked for 29 April when I think I will be 10+5ish - might try and move it to before Easter instead.....
