Oh no pod that sounds frustrating

Why did they push your edd back?

My midwife told me Sept/Oct is always ridiculously over run with babies being due , did they mention if they were busy and that's why they wanted you to fill the forms in yourself?

Although I do think this is bad practice because what if you don't understand the questions!

Tomkat79 · 17/03/2016 11:41

That's all you need pod how frustrating. Seems very much a postcode lottery as to how pregnancy is dealt with!

Dating scan apt just in...will be 13+6. Am 36 so worrying about downs and have said yes to the NT screen. Bit concerned if they can't measure on that day then it will be too late as cut off 14w1d. Would you move it?

Afreshstartplease · 17/03/2016 11:43

I think I'd try to move it tomcat but wouldn't hold your breath

I tried to move my appointment and was told I'd literally been given the earliest one possible as they are so busy

After 14 weeks they can do a blood test for downs I think

pod100 · 17/03/2016 12:23

My date was adjusted because my period was a bit weird. It arrived on the Tuesday (bang on 28 days) but was really light and only lasted 24 hours, then stopped before coming properly on the Friday. The doc said to count my dates from the Tuesday to make sure I got appointments and scans at the right time, but midwife said to go from the Friday as that was the proper period, although I don't know how 3 days difference in period leads to 5 days difference in EDD. Guess it will all change when I get my scan anyway so it's all up for debate!

They didn't mention anything about being busy - just seemed very matter-of-fact about it all. I think that must just be the way they do things around here.

Tomkat79 · 17/03/2016 12:36

I've had my bloods done at booking in and MW said they'd use them and the NT measurement to give me a risk rate. I'm just concerned that if I'm out with my dates and end up being over 14w or for whatever reason they can't measure as baby not lying right etc then I'll miss the window! I'll pop over to ante-natal in my uniform, wrong I know but it usually swings appointments lol

Afreshstartplease · 17/03/2016 13:03

I was told of a separate blood test done after 14 weeks I think, I might also have read that it's more accurate but might also have dreamt this

Afreshstartplease · 17/03/2016 13:09

Taken from nhs website

"If you are too far into your pregnancy to have the combined test, you will be offered other tests.
For Down’s syndrome, a blood test called the quadruple test is available from weeks 14-20 of pregnancy.
For Patau’s and Edwards’ syndromes, you will be offered a mid-pregnancy scan that checks for physical abnormalities."

Tomkat79 · 17/03/2016 13:49

No you're spot on fresh my mistake! More bloods Shock

Afreshstartplease · 17/03/2016 13:55

I am glad I didn't dream it

DisneyDiva87 · 17/03/2016 14:30

My booking in appointment has been split in to 2 as well Pod I had questions and the CO test at the first and will take urine sample and get blood taken at the next. It is a bit frustrating but for me it means hubby take DD to nursery and I get to stay home and enjoy some peace and quiet while pretending to work from home! (I even took a 30 minute nap last time!)
Can you not tell work you are going for a Dr's appointment? That is what I have done, they can't ask what it is for or if they do you do not have to answer.

fish88 · 17/03/2016 16:38

I've still felt a bit rubbish today but no more vomiting. I told everyone at work yesterday and it is easier now I'm not having to hide feeling like poo.

climbingcheesecake · 17/03/2016 17:27

I had my second interview today and I will find out at the weekend whether they want me or not.
My dating scan is on Thursday so they don't know I am pregnant yet. I don't know what I am going to do yet, but will see if they offer me the job first and probably try and stall till after the scan to accept.

Sounds like a few of you are feeling better which is good! Flowers and/or Cake to those that aren't. I am probably feeling worse, but my appetite is loads better.
I am nervous as hell about the scan on Thursday.

The skin on my stomach was really sore today.

dottydimples · 17/03/2016 19:13

So my sickness is a little better, I can eat more foods now. I'm still being sick every now and then, but I don't panic about it and just let it happen now.

The thing that is really bothering me is I feel so fidgety and niggle-ly. My legs are itchy and I just can't get comfortable. This is usually in the evening and drives me mad! Anyone else getting this?

Hope you're all doing alright!x

fish88 · 17/03/2016 19:24

dotty I've not got it yet this time but remember having really itchy restless legs last pregnancy. Look up restless leg syndrome and there are plenty of suggestions for things that might help.

Tomkat79 · 17/03/2016 20:41

dotty I have scars on my legs where I almost clawed my skin off during the first 12 weeks of my last pregnancy! Body lotion with aloe Vera helped I think.

leoniethelioness · 17/03/2016 20:51

Dating scan tomorrow - nervous and excited!!

My legs are really dry too and almost a bit eczema-y. We have some aloe vera gel somewhere so I'll give it a go!

MsFiremanSam · 17/03/2016 21:17

Dotty, have you tried drinking tonic water - the quinine helps with restless legs x

Shropitlikeitshot · 17/03/2016 21:38

I think we're meant to avoid tonic?? And gin 😩

BUT when we're waddly and overdue, tonic can bring on labour apparently.

Figgygal · 17/03/2016 22:07

I've been drinking tonic in lieu of Pepsi though did have a irn bru today (woo throwing caution to the wind) it's good for cramps you just shouldn't drink vats of it.

I miss goats cheese Sad

MsFiremanSam · 18/03/2016 06:38

It's recommended on lots of sites for restless legs - I've drunk vats of it in all my pregnancies (minus the gin of course!)

leoniethelioness · 18/03/2016 07:02

Hopefully we'll know if Pepper is OK in a couple of hours! Nervous now and worrying about not having change for the scan photos... Please cross your fingers for me this morning - it's our first scan so the first chance we've had to know if it's all going to plan.

Northernlight22 · 18/03/2016 07:30

Aargh! Lost the post - thought the other one was quiet!

10+5ish today, just waiting for my follow up scan with the consultant next thurs and then 12 week scan on the following Tuesday!

Off to catch up on what's been happening ...

MyBreadIsEggy · 18/03/2016 08:25

leonie you've just reminded me to start collating pound coins now in readiness for my scan!!
My hospital has a little machine that give you a token. You buy the same number of token as number of pictures you want, and give them to the front desk and they print them for you. They cost £3 for each copy, so 3x£1 coins Angry which is a pain in the arse for someone like me who never usually carries cash, let alone change!!

pod100 · 18/03/2016 08:51

Lots of luck for today Leonie! Let us know how it goes. I am having an early scan tonight so starting to feel excited and nervous too X

climbingcheesecake · 18/03/2016 11:43

Good luck leonie!
