Oh and I had a classic one at the weekend. I was saying I was going to order a compost bin from the council when we move and he goes, "no, let's have a proper compost heap down the garden." So I say that a heap has to be forked over and turned, whereas a bin can be just flipped over once in a while and that he's such a lazy bugger I didn't want to keep having to ask him to turn the compost heap, when his response to, "Can you take out the recycling for me?" is, "Hmph, I HATE saving the planet."

OBVIOUSLY I know I am right. Will just order the sodding bin and hope he doesn't remember the conversation.

We get £35 back here in Norfolkio and I'm not sure on the price of their laundering service. Might look into it. We have loads of reusable nappies, wraps and liners already. Only think I bought after our 12wk scan! Got a selection and some from friends to see what we like best.

OOOOH excited! DH goes back to work on Fri so scan at 9am Fri was bit inconvenient for him. Rang UCLH on the offchance they could give me something else this week and am going tomorrow at 4.30! YAY!

Watch this space...

ShowOfHands · 02/01/2007 15:08

Ooh exciting stuff! Mine's at 2.40pm tomorrow and madeindevon's is tomorrow too- but I think we've scared her off!!

I am so frightened!

Thanks, ladies. Feel a bit better to know that I'm not the only one! I'm also up for being a SAHM once I go on maternity leave, as my job is pretty full on and can involve lots of travelling about, overnight stays and very early starts. I can't do all of that whilst caring for a new baby and doing the lion's share of childcare and laundry and just about all of the sodding housework. If I'm going to have to do it all, I don't think I can do this job on top. Harumph! Glad to have got that out of my system!

I just tried to unpack the travel system - got the pushchair bit out and DH immediately said "No, no, put it back - it requires assembly and I'm not doing that yet." I then got the car seat out and he started muttering darkly that "it's not an Isofix...we'll have to bugger about with seat belts all the time...you'll have to send it back..." GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHH!!!

Instead, now that he's settled down to watch all of the Monty Python programmes he recorded the other night, I'll have a go at assembling the pushchair myself and I've just emailed Kiddicare to ask whether the care seat can be used with a fixed base and if so, can I buy a compatible one from them.....

...and now breathe and relax.

Creena · 02/01/2007 15:19

Ooo, thanks for the laundry service tip - is that something that's run by private companies or contractors through the council? What's the best way to find out if there's such a service operating near me? If I could find one, then I'll definitely go for real nappies.

Way to go on the scan, twelfty! That's excellent! Please make sure that both you and SOH post afterwards to let us know how you get on. I'm looking forward to mine and can't wait - I find it reassuring to see what's going on in there!

notsolilKel · 02/01/2007 15:21

Hiya just wanted to say "I'm baaaack" and a very happy new year to all my internet mates

Will try & catch up later on - must go unpack now. Blech. At least I don't have to worry about losing all the weight I packed on!

scootermum · 02/01/2007 15:23

SOH-We moved last November after 8 months worth of contractual wranglings, with just 4 weeks to go before dd was due.It nearly killed me.I just spent the time between September and November sobbing in anguish with the stress of it.I will not be doing it this time!I wish you luck with your move though-is everything on schedule nad when are we going to Laura Ashley?
Who are you seeing at the Albert Hall?I was supposed to be seeing Keane but dh wont let me go as he has a thing about loud music damaging the babies high frequency hearing or some such nonsense.Last time I missed the Kaiser Chiefs and the V festival, I was livid.

Travel systems already! You are all so organised. We first have to build a shed to put a double buggy in before we can get one.And what on earth are the 10 pieces?!I can only think of three.Does it make the dinner as well?
What colour is it?Thats the important thing! They've a very trendy Cath Kidston one in Mothercare, but they dont do it in double format which is probably fortunate as it has saved me from myself..I cannot see dh pushing a floral buggy up the lane with any willing at all..

Dont worry creena I have days where I think I wont bother getting up.I was reading a thread on here about antenatal depression which I didnt even know existed but im sure some days thats me!Probably hormones and post Christmas slump.January sucks anyway as well..With re the West Wing.My dh did something similar with 24 and insisted on watching all the episodes on dvd back to back.So I countered him by buing three ER box sets and watching them back to back, (got me through early labour with dd, by the way- it was the episode in series 3 where the medical student tops himself, oddly I can remember every detail about it despite being in considerable pain). At first he was annoyed and then he got into it so we are couch potatoes together..My next thing is to get him into the OC which is a tall order but will surely be worth the effort!

I am off home now and am looking forward to This Life plus 10 cest soir.
Having read this post I seem to be obsessed with TV.I am not.Occasionally I read a book and sometimes, though very rarely, I do go out!

Speak to you all tomorrow x

MereNoel · 02/01/2007 15:26

Corrr Blimey, that'll teach me for not coming on for a day, Just taken me half an hour to try to catch up, sounds like you are all well, nipple tweaking, cooking and buying baby accessories. I'm going to miss the buying for baby thing this time. Don't think I need anything for no.3. Although could be tempted on a new pram/buggy but as I have 3 so I better make do.

Welcome to the newbies I missed.

Gingerbear I'm normally Frenchsmallfry, actually will change that back in a mo.

Good luck with all those scans this week. It's a 22 week scan in France, so mines not until the 15th Jan, baby wriggling lots now, dh and ds both felt it yeterday morning was really lovely for them.

I know most of you hate new year, but I had a lovely one, a couple of glasses of red, a good curry and all the trimmings, lovely company, fireworks, pictionary which was very funny. Celebrated new year for us and then an hour later with the UK. All was going beautifully until we went to bed at 3am and dd decided it was time to get up. She went back to sleep at 6 and I got up at 8.30 to cook friends breakfast. Needless to say I did not get on MN last night as I went to bed at 8pm. May need to do the same tonight as I still feel tired.

lg&t, sorry dh has gone back now, I feel sad for you. I'm always around, msn me if you are bored. xxx Oh and I wan't to hear about your NY.

Must go, ds nagging to make a hat?

MKG · 02/01/2007 15:35

I forgot who mentioned it but jogging strollers are great. I love mine when I got for long walks with ds. It's great off road, but you will need another stroller because the front wheels don't turn so to take it to the store would be a huge pain in the ass.

Just asked mom to babysit ds next weeks so I can go. she immediately said, "I'll go with you", I said thank you, but I need to go by myself, she is going to help me bake the cake next week.

twelveweekstomaternityleave · 02/01/2007 15:43

Creena, the nappy services I've seen are private full stop, but the council often recommend the ones in your area. You won't get the money back on the nappy service though, as you don't have to outlay any money to buy nappies. (Or if you buy some extra-convenient ones for when you're out and about you could claim for those.) The nappy service provide them to you each week. Might mean you need to use regular terry square type nappies, but lots of people say they're the best anyway. Have a look on council website or just google "nappy service" and your area. Nappy Express and Nappy Ever After are two that work around London anyway.

I think there's something called the Real Nappy Campaign or similar with advice on the website.

twelveweekstomaternityleave · 02/01/2007 15:44

Awh, the cake is such a cute idea.

MKG · 02/01/2007 15:47

Pebble is finding out right now what she's having. I hope she runs here and tells us.

ShowOfHands · 02/01/2007 15:51

She better had.

Can't wait, she's wanting a pink on iirc. Think pink thoughts.

Just weighed myself at my friends house.....ohmigod......the last time i did it was in july just before i got married. I was 9st 7lb im now > 11st 1lb. Personally i blame dh...if he was home for regular workout (sex) i would not be this massive. Im now shaking in my cowboy boots at the thought of tpt

Welcome newbie lucylouise, hope you are ready for us...

NO more Krispy Kremes......

God darn it SOH i thought you had forgotten!!!!

12weeks im glad the dresses made it to someone..... Im so sorry, prg brain perhaps or blood so full of fat it is moving very slowly round my body thus starving my brain of much needed oxygen

Im so depressed, might go and eat a slice of bananna loaf, i mean a handful of raisins

largeginandtonic · 02/01/2007 15:59

pink pink

twelveweekstomaternityleave · 02/01/2007 16:00

Raisins, schmaisins. Home made banana loaf surely can't be as bad as Krispy Kremes?

twelveweekstomaternityleave · 02/01/2007 16:02

Oh and I was just over 11st before I even got pregnant so don't panic just yet anyway. And I'm a shortarse at 5ft 3. Luckily am jsut tipping about 11st 9 now so haven't done as badly as first though. Although that was before Christmas...

largeginandtonic · 02/01/2007 16:03

Its got 3 eggs, 8oz flour, 6oz butter, 6 oz sugar, 1tsp vanilla, 1tsp cinnamon, 2 banannas, baking powder and thats split between 2 loaf tins so minnimal fat and sugar content really????!!!!

largeginandtonic · 02/01/2007 16:05

Im 5'3 too, well 5'3 and 3 quarters hee, heee

ShowOfHands · 02/01/2007 16:07

LG&T, back away from the scales, they can do no good.

Couldn't tell you what I weigh, would be shocked to find out I'm sure. I know that at my booking in appointment I was 8st6 but tbh I don't know if that's big or small. I'm sure I've put on lots though as I'm a blimp.

LG&T you're pregnant, you can worry about diets when the baby's here (my Mum put on 5 stone when pregnant with me and lost it all in 5 months so it's possible). Try not to worry.

And tell me about NYE NOW or I'll stalk you across MN demanding details.
