LG&T, DH and I LOVE Tallulah as well, but we decided against it for exactly the same reasons as you!

Something awful happened this afternoon (well not awful in the context of awfulness, but awful in a sort of "could've" way)- got home from an abortive trip to swimming lessons (thye don't start till next week - gah!!!) and went to the loo. Closed the door and the mechanism on the handle did something peculiar and I was trapped in the bathroom. In the end, DH had to break the door down. All I kept thinking was that DH starts a new job next week, where he will be away for part of the week (at least) What would I have done if it had happened then - trapped in the toilet with only my five year old ds to help???? New rule in our house - no closing the door (although handle is now knackered, so no one can anyway)

Dishwasher is also knackered - feeling quite fed up with household appliances!

anneme · 05/01/2007 18:10

Lots going on here - not sure I will be able to keep up when back at work on Monday because the firewall keeps blocking conversations...
I have trouble with trousers being too long but have bought some of that magic web (I think it is called) which you iron on and it sticks the hem of your trousers up. Have just bought a skirt and trousers in Blooming Marvellous sale - only time I can justify buying things there. There are also some v good reductions in La Redoute sale (might need to buy before the endof tomorrow) but nothing much in size 12 (which is what I am - sort of!)
Have had headache for about 5 days but am now drinking lots of water so seems to be going.
I'm sure there were lots of other things to say but can't remember

LupinsBigLump · 05/01/2007 19:29

LL I would by your preggy braces lol, sorry no advice on 4d scans

My preggy things are really comfy - got the EWmmas Jane ones in Boots when they were 3 pairs for 2quid, however I did just get some normal 12/14 thongs tday as I cant find then cheap anymore

Pebble tiredness has defiantly returned was yawning at 11 today, could easily have fallen asleep any time today, not like ive been having late nights either am in bed by 10

Headache and sickness seemd to have passed for today, fingers crossed, just feeling like a tired out beached whale, oh well few more months to go

ShowOfHands · 05/01/2007 19:40

Evening all, happy Friday.

Just had five minutes of madness. The cat's poorly, vomitted all over the sofa and then slouched off. I went to get some stuff to clean up and she was vomitting in the hallway. She then walked all through it, didn't make it to her litter tray and made an entirely different mess on the carpet. I tried to clean up, threw up because of the smell, burst into tears and sat on the floor for a few minutes sobbing 'how can I have a baby?' DH got home just in time and sorted out the whole situation. Now have cup of tea and some chocolate courtesy of DH, still not entirely convinced I can be a good mother though. Thoroughly hormonal methinks. I have to agree, the fatigue's back which isn't helping but I think starting back at work is also contributing. Have had to nap every day this week.

[pathetic]

On the topic of 4D scans, I've been searching and searching and have found a place that is 45 minutes away by train and will give me a scan, 20 minute DVD, 4 pics and tell me the gender for £65! (Twelve, it's annoying isn't it that scanning for gender is an 'extra cost'- surely it's not too much extra effort). The guy at the clinic has got the gender wrong at 1 scan in 17 years so I'm hopeful that I might be fairly sure of the sex. Waiting to find out when DH is off next week and I'm going to take a day off and go and get scanned. Don't breathe a sigh of relief yet though LG&T, I'm still descending upon you with twelve- you have no idea what you have let yourself in for! As long as we time it for when your DH is away otherwise I think we might spend a lot of time visiting your local beach without you iykwim!!

Saw my Mum today, she'd been shopping in the sales and had bought lots of clothes for the baby, two maternity dresses and a black top for me and lots of smellies, including fizzy bath bomb (guess what I'm doing tonight?). She's a tiny bit excited about being a Grandma!

RedKennedy, we're in the middle of completing on our first house at the moment- total nightmare but will be worth it in the end I hope! Do your employers not have a maternity policy in place?

I'm also 5'4" so have similar length problems to the rest of you. However, I do have some pin-striped under the bump trousers from H&M and they are sooooo comfortable, currently living in them. Otherwise I have to have over the bump adjustable trousers, stretchy skirts or wrap dresses. Usual look is jersey wrap dress, patterned tights and flat Doc Marten Boots, messy hair tied up in scarf and chunky cardigan. Probably not a pretty sight but I care not, I'm comfortable.

Very glad it's the weekend. I am absolutely shattered. Going to have a bath, put thickest, wooliest pyjamas on and wrap myself in a duvet. I may eat chocolate and watch DVDs too. One positive thing today has been the amount the baby has been wriggling. Movements seem to have upped a gear- had to get up and walk around earlier to get it to shift away from my bladder which it was using as a squeeze toy.

Anyway, I'm rambling. Just wanted to say hello to all.

cinnamontam · 05/01/2007 19:42

I'm still fitting into alot of my clothes cause I'm a generously endowed chick anyway so my work pants are stretchy but at some point those and my only pair of decent jeans won't do up and then I am completely screwed.
I need size 18-20 pants that are also maternity pants and I've not been able to find anything. I can see myself turning up to a posh client in tracksuit pants

Damn that Italian grandma - I blame her entirely for my ass!

Wench!!

Did the offer of the silent 'q' not soften your heart?

largeginandtonic · 05/01/2007 20:11

Expecting dh any mo now...

Lovely to hear from you RK, we have missed you. Glad you are ok.

Cat vomit must be worse than baby vomit....dont worry.

Bargain on the scan find SOH, you are right though, you and 12 are still coming to stay, we could nip over to France....say hi to FSF...

I have just cleaned the house, well hoovered and sprayed polish. The kids are all quiet, watching Robin Hood disney DVD in one room, all together!!! Cant believe it, it almost never happens. When they all sit together like that i cant believe they all all came out of me!!!!! Must take a photo and get dh to show me how to post. Thats my plan for this weekend.

Right am off to pour myself a glass of white...mmmmmmm

Have a lovely weekend xxxxx

ShowOfHands · 05/01/2007 20:16

Very alarmed by the amount of cleaning you seem to do LG&T, you make me feel like a slattern. Oh yes, let's go and see FSF, she lives in a castle (or something equally large). Lots of croissants and pastry and beautiful French men. Sod it, let's all go but shhh don't tell FSF!

Cinnamontam if you put a silent E-M-I-L-Y in it, I'll forgive you!

Only kidding, glad you have chosen it, tis a beautiful name and has so many variations that most Matildas are called something completely different anyway. Like you like Tilda, I like Maude (which is short for Matilda despite what MIL says).

Think Cinnamon's a rather beautiful name...

ShowOfHands · 05/01/2007 20:17

Oh and have a fab time LG&T.

I hear scrabble is good.

cinnamontam · 05/01/2007 20:57

Aw shucks SOH - calling Bean 'Cinnamon' has definitely crossed my mind but I will not be derailed...

You have inspired me to clean the house tomorrow LG&T. The house looks like a brothel and I'm sick of towering piles of bills and papers all over the kitchen, unpacked suitcases and cat litter getting flicked from the tray by the fluffy menaces.

katybumps · 05/01/2007 21:35

hiya not had chance to catch up yet just got back from hospital, have just been diagnosed with ligamentitis{wtf!}and it really hurts

cinnamontam · 05/01/2007 21:39

Oh Katybumps - that sounds hideous. I have no idea what it is though. You ok?

ShowOfHands · 05/01/2007 21:43

Ouch Katy! Poor you. Anything you can do?

Cinnamon, my cats do that. Lovely, fluffy, infuriating things that they are. And as soon as I clear it up, there they are, flicking it again. I can hear them muttering 'here she comes, stupid human, thinks she's going to have a clean house.'

OMG I'm talking about my cats. I know I'm a librarian, but do I have to descend any further into the stereotype?

OP posts:
cinnamontam · 05/01/2007 21:50

Tell me about it. We have 2 Maine Coon cats and as a breed they are obsessed with water so they flick the water around the place, then the kitty litter which turns into little puddles of grey clay. It's so revolting. The girl cat Bella does everything in her power to get into the shower with me - hilarious.

I saw snippets from a porno once and there was a very sexy librarian character so go ahead and adjust your grey cardie as much as you like

ShowOfHands · 05/01/2007 21:55

Oh yes sexy librarian character, that's definitely me.

Sounds like my cats, they love the shower, one of them swims in the bath too. And they flick their drinking water over the floor and drink my tea when I turn my back. Love having them though (as I type one is on my knee, the other has her head on my laptop and is stretched across the desk).

I'm sure the fact that Maine Coons are gorgeous makes up for a lot of the naughtiness. Taqko and Wombat are tortoishells but they think they're something fancier.

That is the most I have ever said about my cats in one go...

Somebody mentioned the need for writing notes to reply. I have now resorted to the same trick, my brain just doesn't work.

Well, Ikea was packed, forgot it's still holidays over here. Didn't have in stock either of the things we went for so a good excuse to go back in a few more weeks. Ended up buying new lounge furniture instead which we didn't go for.
lg&t they did have a few different changer units. A very simple one for about £15, have a look on the website, bit of a trek for you up to an Ikea though?

Have some meatballs you say, Ummmmmmmm Why else go to Ikea? You are right they are scrummy, 10 meatballs, chips and the cranberry sauce, followed by dime bar cake, it's become a bit of an Ikea ritual with me now.

Sorry Jonah, all shelves out of stock too??????????????

Great news on your scan gingerbear, am noticing that you are keeping up with your promise to post more often too.

Trousers........................ I wish, have one manky old pair of joggers which I laze around the house in, trousers are a No. NO. Fat arse and thunder thighs accompanied by a very much smaller waist do not go well in trousers. I have two skirts that I live and breath in. Hope I can wear them under the bump or else I could be seen shopping in my PJ'S. Also 5'4 so know where the problems of petit too short, some reg to long are coming from.

Pebble, sorry to hear of ds's adventure, glad he's ok though, Have also had enough of hospitals for a while what with dd last week.

Of course we missed you RK, crap news on your flat and maternity, stick to your guns at work.

MKG, hope you get some freebies, glad he' saw the error of his ways.

SOH, 12weeks, LG&t - when will you be arriving, I'llmake the beds and bake a galette.

SOH lol at the silent letters.

lg&t have a great week end. Go and fly a kite on the front, that should keep you out of trouble, Oh and check on Grannie for me whilst your there please.

AM, where are you? Hope you are OK.

Gosh, not going out for the day again, takes so long to write one post all in one go.

Night
xxx

cinnamontam · 05/01/2007 22:01

They sound lovely. We got our 2 the week before I found out I was preggers. Was a tough call as I am committing adultery on the 2 cussies we have back in Australia living with in-laws and best friend respectively. But my cat hunger became so great the minute we bought a place with a garden that was it. So house, 2 cats and up in the duff in the same month!

Bring on the fluffy lovin'

Frenchsmallfry · 05/01/2007 22:32

Would either of you like a new cat?

Mine is a very friendly, very stupid, very fussy, very annoying Ginger and white tom called Beanz as in heinz variety, yes!

He is mine, but my dad treats him like a baby, hand feeds him home cooked meats, premium cat biscuits, lets him get away with murder, he doesn't like me much as I am the one who is for ever kicking him off the beds!! grrr

He is a beautiful cat, and I love him really and wouldn't give him away but god he is a pain in the arse.

katybumps · 05/01/2007 22:49

finally read the posts oh my god you lot can chat anyway , its my pelvic ligaments that have given up , i cant stand up for long coz its agony have to take codeine for 3 days and rest and if the pain doesnt ease i have to go back . on the name front weve decided on addison fay as its a pink one,was gonna have addison rae but as our surname begins with S she would have been an ARS

twelveweekstomaternityleave · 05/01/2007 23:03

FSF - You ARE getting very French. You said "petit" trousers instead of petite. Hehehe. Clever you!

If I move into my new gaff without having a nervous breakdown or throttling DH, youse can come and stay. Should be able to find you a spare room if DH hasn't appropriated all the spare bedrooms as his offices/ den etc, which I'm not kidding, he actually tried to do. Cheeky moo.

DH was betting on 'sleb Big Brother and has just said re: Jade and family. "I can't do this any more - all bets are off".

Thank the Lord. I hope he means it. It's SO poor.

twelveweekstomaternityleave · 05/01/2007 23:04

Sounds horrible katy. You have my sympathy.

twelveweekstomaternityleave · 05/01/2007 23:05

Obv I meant the ligament pain, not the names, which are very nice.

katybumps · 05/01/2007 23:16

its ok i knew what you meant xxx
