SOH I am with you on the achey bump, I have for want of a better expression groin ache. Walking around meadowhell yesterday for four hours really wasn't a good idea. I have managed to get loads of maternity bargains though. We have just completed on a barn we are getting converted by a local builder as we are either useless or busy elsewhere but really not looking forward to moving either heavily pregnant or with 3 kids under 3. I'm sure the sonographer will be able to help out with your secret, just ask when you go in. I've passed the rennies to SKYTV. Yes I was bit disappointed with This Life +10, I think I would have been anyway though

MKG nipples not too bad - not sure if I dare confess this but still breastfeeding DD who was 2 in November , I have managed to get her down to only when she is in her pjs/sleeping bag though. It only hurts as soon as she latches on each side but after that no probs. (feels like hot knife stuck into nipple end for a second or so) I am wondering if it is just a build up of pressure though not really sure. Think your boobs sound normal to me, mine are leaky to. Hmm cherry pie filling. Hope you can get sorted so DH can go to the scan with you. Can I have your autograph please?

LGT sorry you are without your DH. My bump is also quite large now and definitely wriggly but not so that DH can fell yet. STAY AWAY FROM THE SCALES said in very stern voice. That is why we have TPT so we do not have to worry about such matters. I will also hang my head in shame and confess to DH getting a laptop and me giggling at him "is this so we can watch porn in bed?" and he looked shocked bless him and said it had not even crossed his mind - it did after I had mentioned it though if you can recommend some good secure sites I will let him have the details nudge nudge wink wink

Not quite sure if I should admit this on here but have discovered (quite by chance obviously) that I can now lick my own boobs which DH thinks is quite pleasant. hangs head in shame. (until the porn section is reached further up the message board.)

PM bet you were pleased top be sleeping in your own bed, glad to hear your libido hadn't gone just incompatible timing - at least you can work round that one. I'm with you on finding out the gender I am one of these people who has to feel the Christmas pressie so I can guess what it is but then am disappointed when I worked it out. Can find out for definite now after the amnio but not really sure I want to. I think we might just sit it out. Sorry you could not find out what flavour you are having but good to know all is okay. Hope DS1is okay after his bus adventure.

AnMe My pelvic floor is also struggling a little; have to keep reminding myself to do those exercises. I am using the excuse it is because there are 2 in there.

SM glad you got your dress crisis sorted. Yes the 9 month maternity leave will be kicking in at my workplace from 1 April so we should all be covered even if we get early arrivals as it is based on due date not arrival date not sure why though? I also have to go back for 13 weeks but it can be one day a week as long as it is for 13 weeks. Any chance of an extension stroke loft conversion to save you having to move house?

JB you can but try, at least you had a go we didn't even bother attempting anything fancy on New Years Eve.

LW everyone at work has laughed when they saw me today as I have got so big since the 20 December when they last saw me.

LBL I am in danger of falling over, combination of bump boons and not being able to see the floor for all the obstructions in my way.

12M when my alarm went off at 6.15 this morning I could have quite happily thrown it out of the window. Obviously I made the effort to get up so that I could get to work and catch up with what has been happening on MN.

SM glad I am not the only with that work ethic at the minute, there are just too many other important things in life aren't there. What did you think to This Life+10?

AL hope your scan went okay - did you find out the flavour? Hopefully I will be able to plan maternity leave a bit after next week the 20 week scan should get us up to speed with the DTs conditions and we can maybe talk about birth plans etc. I think we may be moved to the beginning of May rather than the end so I may even overtake some you in the end after being the late starter. Before I knew it was twins I had planned to work until May Day.

LL Hi and welcome to the mad house, if you can keep up there are a few daily poster some of us tend to take all week to catch up and then do not get chance to get back on for ages and feel as though we have missed the party . Hope the SPD doesn't get too bad. MN definitely not conducive to hard work but does have handy hints like squirt polish near front door just before DH gets home and he will comment on how clean and sparkly the house is and hopefully get you your tea! ditto my links question to LGT

I would love to be a SAHM but don't think we can avoid it although don't think we can afford childcare for 3 either. Will have to work this out nearer the time methinks. I can't believe what good maternity some of you get, I will get 4 weeks' full pay (inc SMP) + 2 weeks? at 90% of full pay (inc SMP) + 12 weeks' half pay and SMP + 21 weeks? SMP I can take a further 13 weeks off with no pay. I do get good holidays though for working at a university and good bank holidays though so can't really complain.

SKYTV started with the indigestion/heartburn yesterday - would you like a rennie?

TPT am still 10 sheets, I think I will have to go back and check what I started out at as I seem to be getting bigger buy the day but my measurement is staying the same. My mum who keeps telling me how large I am only measured half a sheet less than me as did my sister and Dh only 1.5 sheets less than me so although feel huge do not feel so bad as am surrounded by biffas.

C you go right ahead and moan it is what we are here for, DH has spent half his time off watching Scrubs and the other half setting up his new computer. He is very good at cleaning up though so can not complain too much. I know it is really bad but I think I am going to start out with disposables (my mum gave me all my terry nappies whilst I was pregnant last time so have a huge drawer full of them) - I don't think I could face all that washing, in fact my new years resolution is to do at least one lad of washing a day so it does not take over the house - I end up with it spread all over and have to have mammoth wash days.

MN you could sell a couple of your prams on ebay/NCT sale to justify getting a new one this time

PTW you go girl, my mum seems to be the one who feels she has the right to comment the most on my bump and general size so she got TPT yesterday he he

ITS my only recommendation for neutrals is the supermarket but it does tend to be ltd to vests/babygros I do think babies look lovely in white though.

AM well done on the potty a big PMM for you there.

GB you can get a really nice break in the UK, cottage in the country or a nice city break depending on how active you feel.

PP welcome to the board

BB they are so busy on here catching up is a nightmare and then remembering everything that has happened is a mare.

LW19 not much help with names to be honest, I had a look on here and followed the links to girls/boys names earlier but do not want a really popular name as hated being Rachel 2 at both primary and secondary schools but don't want weird way out names either. Can't believe we have to have four possible names ready I think we may have to decide after they are born and see what they look like.

Okay I have added my details so no more nagging.
DD has moved into the next group up at nursery today so hopefully she will drop some of the baby behaviour that restarted in October when most of her friends left to move up and her group became full of babies (1 year olds), she had started potty training as some of the older ones had and was really good and she was really good at eating but after the swap round she started spitting food out, spilling drinks and baby talking again hopefully this will stop at least until her two new babies arrive at least. She was really excited this morning and looked so grown up in hew new clothes. Where has my baby gone?
Anyway just realised this is a mammoth post and will probably not even be allowed so will go back to doing some work and hopefully keep up a bit better from now on.

charleymouse · 03/01/2007 16:17

Oh my god have just seen size of the post really sorry will try harder to keep up from now on.

You guys are too chatty for me to keep up with and I feel bad if I don't reply to people or miss someone off so sorry if I have missed anyone off but may have to stop after the horror that is previous post.

Anyway please feel free to ignore previous post and I will just let you know I have scan next Monday.
Cheers

largeginandtonic · 03/01/2007 16:53

SOH put your hands over your ears.....

LOL...ROFL at licking your own boobs Charleymouse......!!!!! I may try that later (no one here to do it for me) Dh downloads the movies from bit torrent, the ones by a company called Private are very good...

Glad the babies are ok, im sure they will surprise you. I was told awful things about dt2 untill i was 22 weeks. They couldnt see all his limbs properly...it was a bloody nightmare. They came out fine though, allbeit at 29 weeks!

Thik of Maidindevon, SOH and 12weeks all being scanned, best they get on her as soon as....

ShowOfHands · 03/01/2007 17:02

Just typed out an entire bloody post and the cat walked on the laptop and turned it off!

Grr!

Anyway...

In the words of the sonographer 'that is the most stubborn and awkward baby I have ever seen'. It had been doing somersaults all day until we got to the scan and then it decided to curl up in a tiny ball and sleep. The sonographer kept banging my stomach with his scanner to wake it up- so obviously it would uncurl, kick me as hard as it could and curl right up again. Reminiscent of trying to rouse DH of a morning! It wouldn't let us get any pictures either- kept turning its back.

Eventually established that it has everything it should in all the right places. Could even see eyes, fingers, toes and the valves of the heart opening and closing.

Flavour: as yet unknown. The sonographer said he couldn't even hazard a guess as the baby wouldn't show anything to us. I am over the moon that everything is alright and as should be but disappointed not to know the sex. We're looking into 4D scans, thought we might get one anyway but I'd like to know what we're having and perhaps get a picture of this camera-shy baby. I'm now convinced it is a girl as I thought a boy would be more obvious and the sonographer said it was impossible to see anything at all.

So, great news, I can relax and DH was very impressed with its strong legs (don't ask- he wants to know if his cycling obsession can be passed on).

Also have an anterior placenta- was it Jonah who was told this? Assume this means that there is little chance of DH ever feeling the baby kick which is a shame. I wonder if I might not feel much more movement than I do now.

Anyway hope 12 and Madeindevon get on fabulously today.

You're a bunch of filthy pornographers.

Honestly, does porn do something for you? I guess I always imagine it to be a male sort of endeavour.

Gah, I'm such a prude.

Creena · 03/01/2007 17:05

Hello everyone! I'm making the most of today as I go back to work tomorrow too. Boooooo!

Blimey! You all turned into a right bunch of sauce-pots yesterday, didn't you?! All I'm saying is that our bedroom features a portable telly, dvd player and a lockable door! Right - no more [MKG]sexy talk[/MKG] from me.

Pebble - glad the scan went well and that you got to see your little bobba again. Don't worry too much about the flavour - at least you've got another chance to find out in March.

SOH & 12 - hope your scans this afternoon were great. Let us know how you got on (I'm another nosey one, me).

I've been a bit naughty today - I went into the town centre and was tempted by the shoe sales. Ended up buying some wedge heeled ankle boots, which I will probably come a cropper in. They were very bargainous, though! I picked up a couple of nice and reasonably priced bits from New Look's maternity range - a pair of brown boarders for £15 and a black blouse for £12. They look quite nice too. I might wear the blouse tomorrow, so I feel a bit better about having to go back to work.

lucyw19 · 03/01/2007 17:17

Does anyone know where i can get reasnoable tankinis?
Online or shops!

And im going on the nct courses in a few months, had anyone else done these??

AbbyLou · 03/01/2007 18:00

Hi all. Well I survived my first day back at work today and more importantly - the scan!!!Everything was fine and the baby was behaving itself perfectly. I managedto resist the temptation and didn't find out the flavour. We talked about it on the way and although I think dh would have gone either way we agreed not to find out. I like surprises and decided that somehow it makes all that hard work worth it. I must admit I did have a few sneaky looks down 'that end' but I couldn't make head nor tail of it. I admire anyone who says it was obvious to them as I couldn't tell what was what. I just feel really relieved now that everything is ok and actually feel less bothered than I thought I would that I don't know.
SOH glad yours went well. Sorry you couldn't find out but I'd say go for the 4D scan, we're very tempted too.

largeginandtonic · 03/01/2007 18:06

Oh such fab news SOH glad the baby was ok and has all in the right place! Shame you couldnt see but i think it adds to the excitment more anyway. Dh/dp do say the funniest things in scans, my dh noticed the hyperactive nature of the baby and looked worriedly at me..."does it come out doing that?" ,"Of course not", said a equally worried me.....

What can i have for dinner....the kids had garlic potatoes, ham, cheese, cucumber and i made a date slice for dessert. They have eaten the lot....

SOH methinks you should try the porn, on your own at first.....heee,heeee

Creena shopping really does make you feel better doesnt it. Good luck at work tomorrow

InTheseShoes · 03/01/2007 18:06

Hello all. Absolutely knackered after my first day back, and no children in today either!

SOH glad that your scan went well even though you couldn't see the flavour! Hope all's well with other scans too.

I've put on about a stone too, but I did read somewhere that this was ok at 21 weeks, so that's what I'm sticking too. Someone at work told me I was looking slim from behind today, which as I am a size 16-18 pre- pregnancy was a very nice thing to hear. I am really trying to up my fruit and veg intake at the moment, as there has been rather a lot of chocolate in my diet recently ...

LucyLouise · 03/01/2007 18:15

Lucyw
I did NCT classes with my first pregnancy about four years ago. Found them really useful. Luckily I really gelled with my group; am getting together with them tomorrow (although it's getting harder as we're onto our second and third babies now)
The classes themselves were really useful as a first time mum-to-be. I never did the NHS ones but heard locally that the NCT ones were superior (if a little bit expensive).
And the friends I made there were a fantastic support network in the months after we gave birth. We used to go out for drinks and meals in the evening too (and continue to be so four years later).
Have heard them criticsed for forcing breastfeeding down your throat but I didn't find that at all.

twelveweekstomaternityleave · 03/01/2007 18:31

That was a corker charleymouse! Hehehehe. Glad you managed to catch up and that your babies are well. (Yes and I can reach my nipples too! )

Cheap tankinis in the mothercare sale. About a tenner I think.

SOH - laughing at your cat. Really sorry you couldn't find out the gender. I might go for one of those 4D scans anyway as well. They look very cute. Glad all is well.

Soooo..... Shock, shock, shock. CONVINCED myself I was having a boy, convinced everyone else I was having a boy and... It's a girl!

Sonographer was really sure it's a girl and there was a second sonographer/ assistant there who was sure too so it seems unlikely that we'll be surprised when she arrives.

DH was sooo relieved that baby is ok, everything as it should be that he didn't mind a bit about the gender and burst into tears as soon as we left. Awh. Never seen him so emotional. I managed to hold it all together and he fell apart! Very lovely though.

His mother is delighted to be getting a granddaughter after three grandsons by DH's sister and my DD is absolutely thrilled.

twelveweekstomaternityleave · 03/01/2007 18:33

Abbylou fab news on the scan and well done for managing to resist the urge to find out, i could never do it!

Have just bathed all 5 mini demons and am whacked, wish someone would come n make me tea

largeginandtonic · 03/01/2007 19:09

OOOOh 12weeks, so glad it all went well for you too. Are you pleased it's a girl? RThey are lovely to dress up and im sure dd will be dressing her for you. Your dh sounds very cute crying like that.

Wow that is a whole lot of scans today! I cant believe we are all half way through this already. I was filling out my calendar today with b days etc...the due date does not seem very far away! After the kids go back to school at easter i will be 36 weeks. We are only a few weeks away from half term already!!!! My year is divided in to school holidays, in fact life pretty much revolves around school

AbbyLou · 03/01/2007 19:16

Lucyw I too did NCT classes two years ago with my ds. They classes were a little on the pricey side but dh and I often say it was the best £100 we have ever spent. The classes themselves were informative but fun and the teacher let us set oiur own agenda which was really useful as we could learn about the things we really wanted to. However, the biggest benefit I got from was the same as LucyLouise, the friendships. We still meet up every Friday with our lo's (except me who is at work and only attends in school holidays) and go out regularly at night time too. It has been a fantastic support network and 3 of us are going through pregnancy together again now - 2 have already had number 2. I'm not on commission honest but I would highly recommend going. I would also agree that I didn't feel as though breastfeeeding was thrust upon us although the blokes did run a mile when the knitted boobs came out - my dh still has nightmares about those now!!

twelveweekstomaternityleave · 03/01/2007 19:21

Very pleased. Now that I'm over the shock anyway. I know what to do with girls!

DH was very nice and said I could tell people since he knew I probably would anyway!

Couldn't get on an NCT class. Going to look for other private classes around the area once I move.

Feel like finding out the gender has made it seem really real and I'm glad to be able to plan colour schemes and things.

aprilmeadow · 03/01/2007 19:25

12wks congrats on your PINK one!
SOH glad the scan went well - shame that bubs seems to be shy, maybe it was still in hiding after having read everything from teh thread yesterday!
AbbyLou - glad your scan went well and i take my hat off to you (if i was wearing one) that you resisted the urge!

Chocolate is NOT for sharing, unless it is the one in the box that you really dont like!

Cant quite reach my own boobs yet but impressed by those of you that can.

Ben out today and got J a step to put next to the sink so that when he wees (which he has done twice today) he can reach to wash his hands.

Went to H&M and got some brown maternity tights to match the black ones i got the other day. Also got a nice black skirt from Mamas and Papas.

Not liking being back at work due to the fact that i am starving for most of the day and knowing that i have yummy things back at home doesnt make it easy.

My boss wrote the ad for my Maternity Cover today and we are placing it on Monday - scary! I have 11wks left to go til i 'break up'. Waiting to book my next mw appt, got to phone surgery next wednesday to book for the week of the 12th Feb when i will be 28wks. Seems ages away, havent been seen since i was 16wks, apart from scan.

I have uploaded a picture of my scan in members profiles my pink one

ShowOfHands · 03/01/2007 20:09

at your baby behaving itself perfectly Abby. Baby ShowOfHandsOfNoDeterminedGender is just a stubbon, awkward so-and-so. Still feeling ridiculously gutted that I don't know what 'it' is. Congrats, it's such a relief to know all is well.

Twelve, a pink one!! Very pleased for you. And your DH sounds like a superstar. My DH is out buying Chinese to celebrate the successful scan. I'm glad he's going as it's chucking it down. I've had a long bath, put PJs on and I'm going to curl up under a duvet on the sofa and have words with my camera-shy baby.

And as for me watching porn that's me falling over in disbelief. I honestly don't think it'd do me any good. I'm missing that gene (you know the one where you get that toe-curling feeling that everybody else describes). I am aware that you didn't ask to know about my sex life but I've never admitted it to anyone. I have had one orgasm in my entire life, it was five years ago and I was so overwhelmed by it that I cried for about half an hour afterwards. I've resigned myself to the fact that I just don't have that particular skill! I like sex and I like being close to DH but it's not a rip-roaring, peel yourself off the ceiling kind of thing.

Why am I telling you all of this? Just ignore me, I'm feeling hormonal.

OP posts:
aprilmeadow · 03/01/2007 20:16

You have your dh trained very well SOH. I am with you on the whole sex 'thing'. I dont miss it when i dont have it, and its not that often when it does happen. When dh were just gf/bf i seemed to be more 'rabbit' like, but since getting our own home, getting married and having our son my desires seem to have gone on a LOOOOOONG holiday. I do feel bad for dh and try to be the dutiful wife as often as i can, but when i go to bed i go to sleep!
