Come one, come all it's the TTC#1 Grads thread! Everyone welcome so long as you're not put off by graphic descriptions of the lunch we couldn't keep down or the weird pregnancy symptoms we just have to share.

Our lovely ladies now span many stages of upduffedness from "woohoo BFP, now let me pee on 58 more sticks just to be sure" to "Oh my god, why don't they warn you what morning sickness is really like?" To" I need to pee 132 times a day but look at my cute scan photo!"

if you're looking for advice, banter and support, along with the occasional scan photo or rant, you are definitely in the right place.

Thanks peaches. That scan deal sounds really good. Mine is £50. It's been something to look forward to, I've felt, and I think it'll help me feel it's really happening!

RaeSkywalker · 16/03/2016 12:59

Hi Runner I reckon my due date would be about the 12th of November. Haven't had my dating scan yet though!

A bit of a WWYD... I'm in a bit of a tizzy today- I've got a spa day booked with my mum for early April. Christmas gift for us from my dad. It includes a facial and massage. I've just called the spa and they won't do either until I've had my 12 week scan.

DH doesn't want to tell anyone until after the scan. So do I persuade him that we need to tell my parents early, or do I go on the spa day and lie about suddenly hating facials and massages? I don't trust the spa to keep a secret for me- they're quite likely to go "you're the pregnant lady" when we register. So asking them for help isn't an option. The only thing I can think of is telling my mum that something has come up at work and I can't go until May. But then she'll think I'm prioritising work over her. Basically, any ideas are very much appreciated!

RaeSkywalker · 16/03/2016 13:00

Lara and Peaches how many weeks do you have to be before you have a private scan? Might be an idea for me...

IndiX · 16/03/2016 13:11

Sorry ladies this is a bit of a selfish post as haven't had a chance to read through today.
So I had a suspected UTI, lots of weeing no pain but not much coming out, was prescribed antibiotics over the phone by a nurse without giving a sample in. I then phoned back and said I would prefer to take a sample in before I take any tabs. Just phoned back for my results and the receptionist just said its been sent off to the lab..I'm now really worried. She also said well they might have picked up something and need it checked. I'm worried, what could they have picked up that a dipstick wouldn't have?!
Will have a read through your posts now, sorry it's a bit me me me, just having a panic.

BunchOfBobs · 16/03/2016 13:17

Indi panic not. My dipstick came back all fine but as I had symptoms they sent it off to the lab for cultures. That's all it will be. That too was negative btw. Keep hydrated and hit the concentrated cranberry just incase.

Canters15 · 16/03/2016 13:31

bunch- yup that's me! Finally conceived on cycle 4/5 depending on how we count it!

rae- i had a similar situation in that im away this weekend with mum, uncle and aunt. Realised the not drinking would be highly suspect so told mum earlier this week. Id want her support if the worst was to happen so am glad i spilled.

Seems like lots of you have gone for early scans. I am v tempted and have been browsing over lunch. Will see what DH thinks tonight.

Runner05 · 16/03/2016 13:32

Rae can tell a little white lie about having a back injury or something similar and your Dr advising you to delay the massage? I'm sure you could find something suitably lame on the Internet... Although I thought massages were a no during pregnancy full stop?

Index I agree with Bunch it's unlikely to be anything to worry about, they just like to be really thorough during pregnancy. I never would have believed before how fascinated medical types seem to be with pregnant lady wee Confused

indi i wouldn't stress I agree with runner they love to test, and it's better they are always thorough than not.

rae it depends on the clinc/scan you choose. Some offer from 7/8 weeks but i'very found them more expensive and they advice at that stage an internal scan is most likely to be more accurate. I'm not looking to go down that road, although I know it's safe I still don't want to stick something in there I don't need to if that makes sense. The one I'm looking at advices approx 9 weeks and it's basically the same external scan by a qualified sonegrapher you would get at an early NHS appointment. Should last between 5-10 mino they check everything is healthy and on track and you get 2 scan pics to take home.

If you think telling a fib about postponing your day out would upset her maybe it's worth letting her in on your big news.

Canters15 · 16/03/2016 14:45

Medical types are fascinated by pregnant lady wee because pregnancy hormones relax the tubes connecting your kidneys to your bladder. This means that if you have a uti you are much more likely to develop a full blown kidney infection then the average person. This is not good news. Consequently any signs of a urine infection are taken seriously.

Co5mo · 16/03/2016 14:47

Indi don't worry. It's routine to send the sample to the lab.

Congrats on all the bfp ☺

Runner I've fallen of the list...13th October. Do you want to wait to until my 12 week scan on 4th April?

LaraG13 · 16/03/2016 14:57

Rae and peaches the clinic I'm going to do external reassurance scans from 7 weeks. I'll be 8+4 when I go on Sunday. It's an external abdominal ultrasound by qualified sonographer. Costs £50.

IndiX · 16/03/2016 15:45

Thanks everyone, you've made me feel loads better. Hopefully everything will be clear tomorrow when lab results come back.
Hope you're all doing ok, going to read through all your posts now X

Peaches8Posies · 16/03/2016 15:51

lara I'm going to have another look and see if I can get something like yours, that sounds a lot better. That was the two I found nearest me. Each one quite different in costs and what they offer.

Morwenna1 · 16/03/2016 16:19

Hello ladies! I'm still here....

Hi to Rae Canters and Peaches apologies if I've missed anyone, but I've just caught up on 15 pages!

Hope those of you feeling rough are not feeling so rough today, or starting to see some light at the end of the tunnel Miley?

Bunch I can completely identify with that instagram pic! I have been having flutters/poking feelings mainly in the evening and usually after food..I'm 18+5 today and still getting round ligament pain occasionally as well (especially if I move quickly!) I can't quite believe LO is the size of a croissant...I do have a bump, but it's not humungous!

I was chatting to a mum with a 3 month old the other day and when she asked how far along I was she said 'Oh, early days then'. Two more weeks and I'm half way through...I don't really think of it as 'early days'?! More like, oh shit there's still a ton of stuff to get done in preparation and I'm worried about running out of time!

20 week scan is on the 24th! I will be 20 weeks to the day then. Getting impatient again!

BunchOfBobs · 16/03/2016 16:19

Ooh yay Canters great to see another original making it over here. Double congrats for you now. Last time I was properly on the TTC thread I think you were still on honeymoon. Hope you had an amazing time.

Morwenna1 · 16/03/2016 16:23

Oh, and tip for not getting UTI's (can't remember if I saw it on MN or not) When you've finished having a wee, tilt forward on the loo and try and 'force' more wee out. Because of how relaxed things are down there, stagnant wee is more likely to hang around in places it shouldn't, so worth trying to empty your bladder as much as you can.

Indi I can't believe you were prescribed antibiotics over the phone with no sample being taken. Actually I can believe it given the service I've had so far. slaps hand against forehead

Will have to come back to the car seat chat and remember all your recommendations! And cots. And nursery stuff. etc. etc....

BunchOfBobs · 16/03/2016 16:24

Hi Mor. I'm the same with mainly after food but Pip has been loads more active today with poking and prodding. I can't wait for DH to feel it. I've got my anomaly scan on Monday when I'll be 19+2. I'm utterly bricking it. I've done the worst thing and read up what the scan is for and scared myself silly.
I feel enormous and feel quite offended when people say I'm small. It's so bizarre. I feel quite proud of my bump and feel as if I have a sign round my neck "I'm pregnant, pay attention to me". I always was a bit of a drama queen Blush

Canters15 · 16/03/2016 16:58

Bunch the honeymoon was amazing thanks, I wish we could do it again! Feels like a long time ago now. Good luck for anomaly scan, I'm sure everything will be perfect.

Runner05 · 16/03/2016 17:00

Sorry Co5mo I must have missed the one you were on when I copied and pasted.

Thanks for the tip Mor although I have to lean forward in order to have a wee as it is, any more and my head will be on the floor Blush

I know it's nerve wracking Bunch but fingers crossed everything will be ok for both of us. You have a doppler as well as Runner don't you? I think it would be nice for DH to hear the heartbeat as I don't think he'll be taking time off to come to the routine antenatal appointments.

Someone mentioned aquanatal a few posts back - I've got my swimsuit from Asda! Bargain price and it fits nicely as well. direct.asda.com/george/womens/maternity-clothes/maternity-spot-print-swimsuit/G005237296,default,pd.html

Morwenna1 · 16/03/2016 17:38

Should mention I haven't actually got round to going yet!

leoniethelioness · 16/03/2016 18:34

Just adding myself to the list!

I was in London at the weekend and really want a baby on board badge but they don't post them outside Greater London!
