Come one, come all it's the TTC#1 Grads thread! Everyone welcome so long as you're not put off by graphic descriptions of the lunch we couldn't keep down or the weird pregnancy symptoms we just have to share.

Our lovely ladies now span many stages of upduffedness from "woohoo BFP, now let me pee on 58 more sticks just to be sure" to "Oh my god, why don't they warn you what morning sickness is really like?" To" I need to pee 132 times a day but look at my cute scan photo!"

if you're looking for advice, banter and support, along with the occasional scan photo or rant, you are definitely in the right place.

Finally started to get slightly sore nipples today.
Preg test very dark today too.

Runner05 · 24/02/2016 04:13

Choc does that date by any chance match up with the positive opk you had a little while ago?

Plan glad the scan went well Smile

Hope you feel a bit better today Miley being sick is the worse especially when it goes up your nose Envy (don't have a sick smily so have a green one instead)

Sounds like there is a lot of hormonal crying going on... I've been fairly lucky so far, the only time I've cried it's been fairly justifiable. give it time

So here I am, awake... Woke up at 3 and haven't been able to sleep since. I've just given up and got myself a drink and a snack. Now sitting here completely awake and dreading morning. At least I'm working from home tomorrow Smile

Sounds like there are a lot of hormones flying around. I am not a crier at all but did have a little sob at a property development programme the other day! Totally random!

We told everyone about baby yesterday. Immediate family already knew but it was great to share it with others.

Whose 20 week scan will be coming up first? Bunch? Or Mor?

Pinklily1 · 24/02/2016 07:25

Runner, did you manage to get back to sleep at all? I'm really struggling with tiredness this week.

Runner05 · 24/02/2016 07:31

Hi Pink yeh, did eventually but I'm shattered... Luckily I don't have to human today, I can stay in bed and refuse to communicate Wink

leoniethelioness · 24/02/2016 07:32

Congratulations Choc

I'm 9 weeks today and feeling like the only one not to have had an early scan! I don't think it would reassure me for long. Only just over three weeks to go...

Pinklily1 · 24/02/2016 07:43

Leonie, I didn't have one either. It felt like an age for me getting to 12 weeks but you've only got three weeks left - hopefully it will fly by!

firstgo1984 · 24/02/2016 07:52

leonie i wouldn't have even thought about having one if it wasn't for my job..i 'm an obs and gynae doc so i deal with a lot of pregnant women from start to finish

BunchOfBobs · 24/02/2016 08:19

I'm being scanned at 19
Weeks (apparently he preference here in Wales) and that's on the 21st of March. Not sure when Mors is. I've got my 16 week midwife appointment tomorrow - though I'm not 16 weeks until Saturday.

Well I'm finally putting weight on. 1kg this week. Just 1kg off my pre pregnancy weight.

Mileymoocow · 24/02/2016 09:04

Thanks runner, hope you're doing ok today after your early start!

I wasn't going to bother with an early scan but OH has booked me in for a surprise scan a week today (I'll be 8+2). He said its to give me something to look forward to and take my mind off the sickness. He's so lovely.

Chocaholic88 · 24/02/2016 09:06

Yes runner, ties in just nicely ;) however... what on earth made the 4 bfps in December and the throwing up for weeks? Perhaps my body was preparing me for upduffness 😂😂

Chocaholic88 · 24/02/2016 09:11

I've come back to bed after the school run - im not sleeping at all! We told the kids last night. It was quite possibly the most amazing experience ever, they were so excited, OH and I just stared at each other grinning. Then my 6 yr old went off to make a list of baby names and my 3 yr old went to draw the baby a picture. Bless them!

Runner05 · 24/02/2016 09:15

Choc 3 of your 4 BFPs were out of the time limit so not valid and it sounds likely the 4th was an evap.
Is it possible that you had a virus? I know that I've had problems with dizziness and nausea for long period as a result of viruses in the past.

Whatever the reason, you're definitely upduffed now Smile

Miley that was lovely of your OH Grin

I've decided I hate my job Hmm it's boring and tedious. Before I got upduffed I was thinking about moving areas and now I remember why. I'm already counting down the weeks until I can go on maternity and I've convinced OH (mostly) that we can survive quite comfortably with me only working 2 days a week when I go back. this is going to be a long few months Sad

Still on the bright side I realised its only 26 weeks until I'm due Grin

OP posts:
Chocaholic88 · 24/02/2016 09:23

Very valid point. Surprised by it though as I've never had any lines before even hours after so what are the odds of getting them all in a row haha

It must have been some kind of virus or hormonal kick back from coming off of the pill!

Like you said runner it's irrelevant now anyway :)

I'm lucky that I enjoy my job and can do it from home... goodness knows how I'd cope if I was in a standard 9-5!

Mileymoocow · 24/02/2016 10:09

runner my OH will be getting a really good promotion in the next few years with a pretty impressive pay rise. I've already mentioned working 3 day weeks and being a mummy for the other 4 days! I don't know if I will cope when they're at school though (we're planning on 2) I'm already bored of being off work and I'm heaving my guts up. It's taking everything I have not to start cleaning the house from top to bottom

Runner05 · 24/02/2016 10:26

Lol, Miley well, my OH has only agreed to two days a week on the understanding that I will be setting my own business up so in theory I will probably be working 6 or 7 days a week and looking after a baby but it does mean that hopefully I'll be doing something I enjoy and with any luck my earning potential from my own business will be much higher than my normal job Grin

OP posts:
Planeteer · 24/02/2016 10:55

Aww miley your OH sounds a total gem. A surprise scan is so sweet. Sorry you're still going through the ringer with the sickness. Hopefully only a few more weeks before you're free of it. Have you stocked up on good/mindless box sets to binge on?

I'm so tired today I feel like I've been run over by a steamroller! Have been in the office since 8 and my eyes are already itching and watering from sleepyness. If I make it to 6pm without a nap it'll be a small miracle!

BunchOfBobs · 24/02/2016 10:56

This baby is going to be completely kitted out before I'm even 6 months gone.

GPs have got a bit excited and want us to buy the cot/s ASAP (they're paying) and we're off to the Manchester baby show in a few weeks to get car seat from the other set. After me talking to my mum about baby wearing and discussing rain etc I've just had a lovely babywearing all weather coat bought for me. They're all insane!!

Though I'm not going to complain about their lovely generosity. Anyone else got over excited DPs/PILs?

Co5mo · 24/02/2016 11:08

Not yet Bunch but I think MIL will go crazy when we do tell her.

So my waste of time appointment with the practice nurse turned out to be even more of a waste of time than I thought because she didn't bother to book me in with the midwife. They've squeezed me in to antenatal clinic next week but you'd have thought I was asking for the world wanting a booking appointment!

Mileymoocow · 24/02/2016 11:51

bunch I'm not sure how ott my family will go, but I suspect quite massively. It's my brothers wedding this year (I'm supposed to be bridesmaid but will be 7 months...eeek) and I know they've forked out a bit of money for that so I don't want them to go totally daft.

OH's parents I haven't got a clue. They're quite hard to judge so I don't even know what to expect when we tell them we're with child! It'll be their first grandchild and my parents first by blood (tho obviously my niece is really their first) so I just hope everyone is excited!

Runner05 · 24/02/2016 11:53

Planet I'm with you on the tiredness. I'm working from home today and have just said sod it, I'm staying in bed.

Bunch sounds like you're very lucky with your family. I don't think we're going to have much of that given that mum is out of it and OHs dad already has 5 grandchildren (he's happy but not as excited as he would be if it was the first or second)
My sisters excited to have a niece or nephew but she lives on the other side of the world.
I'm just going to have to be excited enough for all of them Wink

Sorry the appointment wasn't great Co5 I've come to the conclusion that dr's and midwives are a bit rubbish really. It irritates me how they go on about wanting respect and how hard they work when a lot of them make their patients feel like a hassle they'd rather be without. Customer service anyone?

So, my baby heart monitor arrived today. I watched a couple of videos and was expecting it to take ages to find Potato but it actually took about a minute Grinhe has a really strong little heart beat and was staying nice and still for a change.
I really recommend getting one. It's just so reassuring to be able to hear that he's ok in there Grin

OP posts:
BunchOfBobs · 24/02/2016 12:13

Yay glad you found Potatoes heart beat so easily Runner. What heart rate are you picking up? Pip seems to be sticking around 150ish at the mo. It's amazing how much faster they are than ours.

I felt quite a few bubbles yesterday. I think I have a mini dancer inside.

Cosmo sounds like a right pain, hopefully you get a booking appointment soon. I didn't get mine sorted for ages through clashing schedules with the midwife, eventually got one for 10 weeks.

My biggest issue with appointments is a glucose test that GP has been trying to arrange for the last month (Drs concerned about GD). I booked for Friday the 4th as i'm away all next week and they couldn't do this week.Just got a letter through saying it's now been moved to Wednesday the 2nd AngryI'm not even in the area!
Further to that it says I have to fast from 10pm the night before (small amounts of water okay) and then appointment at 9am. Letter says and I quote "a blood test will be taken at 11am and then you will drink a solution. A further test will be taken 2 hours later, the time between you cannot eat and must rest". REST?! I'll be bloody passed out if they expect me not to eat until 1pm!! I'm hoping its just a typo and the 2nd test is at 11am. But even that will be a struggle. I'll usually had 2 meals by then. Gah pain in the arse Drs surgery.

Co5mo · 24/02/2016 12:23

Runner I work for the nhs so it really frustrates me when I see waste and inefficiency because there are many of us who work ourself into the ground for our patients who could do with extra money to run our services. The first appointment was totally unnecessary as the receptionist could have booked me straight in with the midwife but that's not the surgery's policy apparently. At my emergency double appointment they made me make, the nurse took my BP and gave me a leaflet on TTC that was last updated in 2006 so has out of date info on it. She was meant to make my booking appointment but said it should come through the post (alarm bells should have rung at that point) but hasn't bothered. After chasing yesterday my appointment comes through by text this morning. Moan over.

Runner05 · 24/02/2016 13:03

Co5mo glad it isn't just me who gets frustrated with the NHS. Don't get me wrong, I think that some of the people do a fantastic job under difficult circumstances but I also think that if the NHS was a business half the people managing it would be fired and a lot of the faffing would be cut out because faff costs money Hmm
(Hides under a pillow incase anyone takes offence)

Bunch mine was coming up mid 130s but I'm not sure I believe it as it wasn't always reading the heart beat when I could hear it clearly.

That blood sugar test sounds insane. They can't expect a pregnant woman to go that long without food! Shock

Hi All!

Glad the scans went ok Pink and Choc! And at last you have some idea Choc of how far along you are! Good everything went well Smile

Miley it's great you're having an early scan Smile nice of your OH!

My 20 week scan is on the 24th (will be 20 weeks to the day!) I'm getting impatient for that...got my 16 week antenatal this afternoon, wish me luck as if it's my named midwife she sounded like she didn't have a clue on the phone (rung up about an issue a while ago). So far I feel very let down by my GP and practice. This area is heavily subscribed to, so I would consider changing if it wasn't for the fact that other surgeries are swamped and I'd struggle to get an appointment.

I was going to ask about weight gain....Bunch are they monitoring you at the appointments? I'll check this afternoon. I haven't gained anything Confused Am I meant to have put on weight by now? The bump has grown!

Also, a new tmi alert for you all (don't think anyone's mentioned it) - colostrum! (Well I think it is colostrum?!) I have (sorry) a yellowish dried substance that has appeared on my nips! Anyone else had this? Again, I'll be wapping them out today to get an opinion from the midwife.
