Thread #3 - TTC#1 Grads thread. No TMI is too much, no question too stupid!

Come one, come all it's the TTC#1 Grads thread! Everyone welcome so long as you're not put off by graphic descriptions of the lunch we couldn't keep down or the weird pregnancy symptoms we just have to share.

Our lovely ladies now span many stages of upduffedness from "woohoo BFP, now let me pee on 58 more sticks just to be sure" to "Oh my god, why don't they warn you what morning sickness is really like?" To" I need to pee 132 times a day but look at my cute scan photo!"

if you're looking for advice, banter and support, along with the occasional scan photo or rant, you are definitely in the right place.

Leonie - I drank the obligatory pint of water and then the monographer commented on how full my bladder was and suggested I didn't drink quite as much next time. I was only doing what I was told!

My scan didn't hurt at all, but it did when the midwife used the doppler earlier on in pregnancy - she pushed really hard!

Pinklily1 · 15/03/2016 21:29

Clearly I meant sonographer and not monographer!!

leoniethelioness · 16/03/2016 07:37

Thanks for the tips! I have the first appointment of the day so hoping that I don't have to wait too long. I'm also having my blood tests too - bit nervous Blush as I've never had one and I had the most awful time of it giving blood. I think that experience has traumatised me a bit!

Runner05 · 16/03/2016 07:47

I've had loads of blood tests and whether it's a ordeal or not really depends on the nurse doing it. For example the last two times I had on nurse who couldn't find a vein to save his life, hurt my arm, accidentally cut me while removing the needle and left a huge bruise, the second nurse found a vein in seconds, I didn't feel a thing she did and was finished before I knew what was going on, I didn't even need a plaster.
The latter experience is the most common but you do get an incompetent from time to time. Don't let it out you off.

London is not a place for pregnant people not yet showing! Have had to let 2 trains go by at the station, too full to fit on without risking an elbow in the stomach and a woman has just shoved me or I stand on the line for the next one. Ordered my baby on board badge 2 weeks ago but it hasn't arrived. What a pain, but rather be late than risk anything!

Pinklily1 · 16/03/2016 08:20

Lauren, it's the same here and I'm in the North! If the train looks busy I just wait for the next one (or the next one...!). I'm not good on my feet for long periods so need a train where I can definitely get a seat! I'm interested to see if, once we show, people will give up seats willingly for us. Hopefully your badge will help too, when it arrives.

Pinklily1 · 16/03/2016 08:22

I feel scared about my 16 week appointment today. Not sure if it's because it's the first opportunity to hear the heartbeat. Have been awake for hours already Confused

Planeteer · 16/03/2016 09:37

Good luck today pink. Thinking of you!

Lauren the baby on board badge definitely helps. I've only worn it on bad nausea days but have been offered a seat on rammed trains every time. Hope yours arrives soon.

I've had a rubbish nights sleep, kept being woken up by cramps and a stabbing pain on my left side. No blood, so trying not to panic. Assuming it's a side effect of having joined the constipation station. Joy! Anyone else had bad cramps around 9 weeks?

BunchOfBobs · 16/03/2016 09:42

Pink there's nothing to worry about, it's the most none event of the appointments to date apart from the heartbeat. Don't be concerned if they can't hear a heartbeat, it's common not to hear it until 18 weeks or so.

Just had my first swim session since being pregnant. Still manage my usual half a mile woop! Though got a few comments in the showers "oh you're pregnant, want a lovely small neat bump, what are you 3 months" "no 4" "omg you're small I was HUGE by that time". I took it to mean I'm just carrying in the bump area and took it as a compliment. It's so annoying when people find the need to comment on how small or big you are. Sheesh!!

Pinklily1 · 16/03/2016 10:18

All fine at the appointment and we heard a nice strong heartbeat Smile

Planet, I had cramps around then on and off, but took it just to be stretching.

Bunch, are you I maternity swimwear or just your usual stuff? I'm going to do an aqua natal class but will have to invest in maternity swimwear as I don't think the tops on my current bikinis will fit my huge boobs anymore Blush

BunchOfBobs · 16/03/2016 10:23

Pink great news. Maternity costume for swimming, a bikini has never cut it for me as swimming always made me flash my boobs. I can't get my arse into my usual costumes. I'm off to a spa next week and my usual bikinis for for that purpose as they're all tie sides. I won't be able to swim in them though.

Peaches8Posies · 16/03/2016 10:23

Morning ladies, can I join in? Got my bfp last week but have been sitting quiet getting used to my news ☺

I'm 5wks, 6 on Friday. No real symptoms just some cramping and increased weeing. Boobs are starting to get tender. No sickness or nausea yet but I'm sure that's to come.

Hope everyone is well. pink good luck today, and fx crossed you get your first listen to the heartbeat ☺

BunchOfBobs · 16/03/2016 10:26

Welcome and congrats Peaches you never know you may join us lucky ones myself Mor and Nev who didn't have any morning sickness. Fx for you.
Runner will need your EDD to add you to the list Smile

Peaches8Posies · 16/03/2016 10:47

Fx crossed bunch but when it comes to luck in usually at the back of the queue haha. You never know though.

Can I join too? Dipped in and out of the ubdergrads thread, invested properly a couple of weeks ago as really needed the extra support as TTC felt to be taking a while...and boom!!! Bfp!

I'm canters. Age 29 and am 4+2- edd 21st Nov. My boobs hurt, I'm shattered and feeling a little sickie on and off. Trying not to get too excited yet as it's still early days but I can't help myself!

BunchOfBobs · 16/03/2016 11:57

Congrats and welcome Canters. Do I remember correctly did you get married recently and were TTC on your honeymoon?

Just spotted this on Instagram. It did make me giggle Grin

LaraG13 · 16/03/2016 12:13

Welcome peaches, canters and rae and congratulations!💐

Really happy all went well today pink! bunch I find it odd that people comment so freely on pregnant women's bodies. Yes your pregnant but it's still your body they're commenting on!

I'm ticking along with nausea and generally feeling shit. I'm 8 weeks now and having my reassurance scan on Sunday. Really anxious about it.

I've booked in for my 12 week dating scan but am requesting that they don't do the Down's syndrome part of the nuchal screening because it won't affect my choices and I'd rather not know. Anyone else done this?

Hope others are doing well. Sorry for lack of commenting.

LaraG13 · 16/03/2016 12:14

*you're not your!

Sodasoda · 16/03/2016 12:39

Welcome new BFPs! And congratulations Smile

pink really glad your appt went well, must be really reassuring to hear that heartbeat.

lauren - I just went into the station and asked one of the workers how I got a badge and they got me one there and then. It's been a big help on bad days.

14 weeks today and ovia has finally moved me to second trimester - hooray! I'm also in my maternity work skirt for the first time. It's far too big but my other work skirts are too tight so bit of an awkward stage at the moment!

Sodasoda · 16/03/2016 12:41

lara - I think it's a really individual decision. I wanted to know because I wanted to be prepared but I know plenty of friends who haven't had the test. They give you the choice st the scan so just let them know you don't want that screening.

Runner05 · 16/03/2016 12:42

Bunch that's brilliant (and kinda true)

No movements for me today Sad

Welcome Canters Smile

Lara I always wanted the nuchal screening because I knew it would effect my choice however if I hadn't I would have still wanted it so that I could prepare myself.

Thanks for the welcome ladies.

runner im going with Nov 11 for EDD for your list thanks.

bunch haha pregnant problems right there 😁

lara its really a very personal choice. Think like I'll be asking for tests then just deal with anything from there onwards. What ever's right for you and your situation. Good luck for your scan on Sunday. I'm thinking of booking one too. After a little research i've found a clinic about half an hour away from me who are offering a £99 scan for £39 if you book in the next week. Would give me peace of mind and something to look forward to as well.

LaraG13 · 16/03/2016 12:54

Thanks soda and runner totally agree it's a personal choice and down to each person to decide. But I felt that it was presented to me (at my booking in appointment) more as a given than an optional extra so I was worrying I might not get the choice.
