Come one, come all it's the TTC#1 Grads thread! Everyone welcome so long as you're not put off by graphic descriptions of the lunch we couldn't keep down or the weird pregnancy symptoms we just have to share.

Our lovely ladies now span many stages of upduffedness from "woohoo BFP, now let me pee on 58 more sticks just to be sure" to "Oh my god, why don't they warn you what morning sickness is really like?" To" I need to pee 132 times a day but look at my cute scan photo!"

if you're looking for advice, banter and support, along with the occasional scan photo or rant, you are definitely in the right place.

Runner may I go on the list please? I am 17 September. STILL no NHS midwife appointment....(which given I'm 11 + 2 is leaving it a bit late!). I chased my GP twice, the first time I was told they had forgotten to send the referral letter off! The second time they had got the dates wrong so the hospital thought I was 3 weeks earlier than the actual dates. NOT impressed....

shelbTa · 29/02/2016 20:12

Thanks pink thanks soda. Just order dress off seraphine! Quite a good website but pricey.

Yeah pink - a lot of the dresses are quite see through

X

Pinklily1 · 29/02/2016 20:19

Shelb - there is also a good website called Tiffany Rose. I need a dress for a wedding and a christening so am going to treat myself to something off there.

BunchOfBobs · 29/02/2016 20:22

Hi and welcome Soda. Another northerner here but I've been a resident Welshy for near 7 years. My DH is a southerner through and through and I've picked up a lot of his accent- but thankfully I've retained my lack of r's in words that don't exist Wink no offence southerners.

Great news Lillian, glad to hear it.
Massively confusion that people can have such different opinions. I'm aware I'm bigger than I should be for a first baby and showing earlier but really to be told tiny and massive in the space of an hour was weird. I'm totally not over the kiss yet. So weirded out!!

Congrats and welcome Becky.

Mileymoocow · 29/02/2016 20:28

Guys what would you do?

I'm supposed to be bridesmaid for my SIL to be at my brothers wedding on August 13th but i'll be 7 months pregnant. We've already been for our measurements for the dresses which are floor length and fitted so absolutely no room for a hefty bump. Should I pull out or offer to pay for a dress myself? There's no way I'd be able to match so it might not look very good as I'd have to be in a different materal. I'm tempted to tell her earlier than 12 weeks to give her more time to decide what to do. I hate being awkward so this is definitely playing on my conscience

Pinklily1 · 29/02/2016 20:42

Miley, not sure what make the dress is, but some bridesmaid dress brands do do maternity bridesmaid dresses in matching materials to non-bridesmaid ones. Might be worth investigating.

If it was me, I'd tell her, and say that I'd love to still be a bridesmaid if there was an alternate dress, but if she would rather i wasn't, or there were no other dress options, I wouldn't mind dropping out. If she'd already ordered the dress, I would probably offer to pay for it.

Mileymoocow · 29/02/2016 20:47

The dress is paid for so I will definitely offertory pay for it. Thanks runner i'll follow your advice and tell her sooner rather than later. They don't do a maternity style unfortunately Sad

LisaTheGreek · 29/02/2016 21:04

I've had a letter for an obstetrics appt in June. I'll be just over 24 weeks at the time.

Anyone know what this is for? Is that a standard time for an appt?

IrregularCommentary · 29/02/2016 21:28

Hi Runner, can I go on the list please? 10th Oct Smile

Sodasoda · 29/02/2016 21:34

Hi miley, I'm being bridesmaid for my best friend at the end of August when I'll be over 8 months! I told her very early and offered to pull out of bridesmaiding duties. We've agreed that I'm going to get a maternity type dress but in same colour as the other girls and be involved in every way I can. I'd tell your SIL as soon as you can so she can plan.

shelb - seraphina is lovely isn't it? Will definitely get a few bits from there but they'll have to be a treat as it is pretty expensive! I think I'll go down the cheaper route for tops and then invest in a decent pair of jeans and work skirt and a couple of nice dresses and try and rotate - a lot!

Co5mo · 29/02/2016 21:44

I go away for a couple of days and you've been busy! Can you slot me in for 13th October please Runner?

Booking appointment tomorrow...just writing my 'don't forget to ask' questions in case baby brain kicks in. Now if only they could answer the question on why I'm fine all day at work but the moment I get home in the evening I spend most of my time praying to the porcelain gods. Really not helping the preparation for my interview on Wednesday.

Runner05 · 29/02/2016 21:45

Lillian good news about your bean Grin

Hi Les welcome to grads Smile it's a little strange the GP asked you to call back but I wouldn't read anything into it.

Bubbles that's awful! What are they going to do about it? They really need to get you in for your 12 week scan. I'd be very cross if I were you.
I've added you to the list.

Miley I'd pull future sil to one side and tell her in confidence. That way she can decide what she wants. Also at 7 months you might not feel up to bridesmaiding so it might be worth suggesting you pull out of she had other bridesmaids anyway. I suppose it depends how much you want to do it.

Lisa no idea what the 24 week appointments for, sorry.

I am fuming Runner, particularly because I'm not SUPER young any more Confused so the nuchal scan is important. The GP apologised profusely and then told me it's not problem to not be seen for my FIRST appointment until I'm 12 weeks and I'll probably have the scan around two weeks later! Such poor service. I have ended up paying for private scan and harmony test.

Runner05 · 29/02/2016 22:06

That is really rubbish Bubbles, I don't know who you can complain to but if I were you I'd be complaining to everyone including the local paper. That's a major failure of a venerable person in my books and they shouldn't get away with it!

In much less dramatic news... Oh my god I ate a revolting shepherds pie at fil's and now I have so much painful trapped wind I think I might be going to explode!!!

LillianFullStop · 29/02/2016 22:50

Thanks everyone I keep watching the video with the happy heartbeat - it beats so fast! Counting down to my NHS scan now although I might see if the EPU will scan me sooner as I know between now and 12 weeks I will start to get anxious again.

miley I would tell her as soon as you are comfortable to share the news. They may not have started making the dresses yet so it could be worth dropping the dressmakers a note to see if there's anything they can do on the waistline?

bubbles that's pretty bad treatment! But good on you on taking matters into your own hands and booking your scan. Hope it is smooth sailing from now though

shelbTa · 01/03/2016 06:39

Welcome Les!

God I feel awful today. Went to bed with pounding headache last night and still feel awful today. So tempted to ring in sick but so busy. Had to have some paracetamol hope it kicks in soon.Sad

Hope you are all feeling better than me!

X

shelbTa · 01/03/2016 06:46

Bubbles - yeah that's terrible, sorry you've had to go through that. I'm a bit older too at 34.

LisaTheGreek · 01/03/2016 07:00

Sorry to hear that, Shelb. I hope you feel better soon.

I find the mornings the hardest and have so many times wanted to call in sick. I have to tell myself I'll usually feel better by lunchtime (then it comes back in the evening!)

shelbTa · 01/03/2016 07:41

Thanks Lisa. That paracetamol has really helped but I do feel guilty taking it even though midwife said take it!

Pinklily1 · 01/03/2016 07:55

Morning ladies

That's really bad Bubbles! Sometimes I think they forget how much we all stress in the first few months and how we don't need extra crap like their incompetence!

Shelb~ hope you are beginning to feel better. Does anyone know if we can take anything for colds?

I'm 14 weeks today Smile I was so excited when Ovia changed to say 'second trimester', definitely feels like another milestone.

Sodasoda · 01/03/2016 08:11

Morning everyone!

I'm 12 weeks today which feels like a milestone. My sprout is now an apricot! Scan tomorrow Smile

pink - is it not til 14 weeks you're second trimester according to ovia? What a bitch!! As far as I know re colds, paracetamol is fine so things like lemsip are all ok. Hope you feel better soon xx

LisaTheGreek · 01/03/2016 08:16

Congrats on the milestone, Pink, that's awesome! Very jealous over here! Grin

Co5mo · 01/03/2016 08:33

Oh Bubbles how frustrating. I worked out they hadn't bothered to book my appointment quire early so I'm getting my booking appointment at the right time fortunately.
Do you mind me asking how much your harmony test cost? We've been thinking about what we do if we were to come up high risk and I think I would probably want to do this before an amnio.

Lesbecky · 01/03/2016 09:11

I thought blood testing between 10 and 14 weeks plus the U/S was the new screening process across the whole NHS. It still doesn't help bubbles get an appointment which seems pretty poor.
