This one seems to be the winner, and I can't seem to come up with anything more inventive, sorry!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Lizzzombie · 09/01/2007 13:36

Actually, I had heard that it works best if you ingest the sperm orally!

(Like I dont have enough problems keeping my food down at the moment!) - but saying that, its sort of like gaviscon anyway!!!!

wilkie50 · 09/01/2007 13:42

You could have discovered the newest heartburn remedy? Thick and gloopy like gaviscon - ha ha ha - why do I always manage to lower the tone of this thread?? TBH, the thought of that makes me want to retch. Maybe stretch and sweep is a better option

Meant to ask - have you set a date for the wedding? I'm having wedding withdrawel symptoms after mine in July.

muppet3 · 09/01/2007 13:50

Love the DIY method, 2Happy! Reminds me of another tale I heard of someone turning up at hospital with their husband telling the midwives she was 5cm dilated. When they asked how he could possibly know, he told them he was a plumber and was used to fiddling around in small pipes ...

Lizzzombie · 09/01/2007 13:52

That is such a gross picture in my head - I'm not sure how I'll manage my next dose of gaviscon now!
We are thinking about August 2008 for the wedding, I'd rather our LO is toddling around properly than having to carry him round in my dress! My sister is getting married 7/7/07 and is turning into bridezilla at the moment...but she is organising it single handed with 17 month twins hanging off her...I knew there was a reason why people get married before having kids!
What was your dress like?

JodieG1 · 09/01/2007 13:59

Was the diy sweep painful? I had a sweep with ds and it was quite uncomfortable.

wilkie50 · 09/01/2007 14:08

Lizzz - my dress was a Maggie Sottero dress called Tara. It was strapless, boned down to the hips (lace up back) and then flared at the bottom with a small chain in white duchess satin. I was 15 weeks pregnant but only had a minute bump which we managed to 'strap in' with the lace up back (was bloody uncomfy by the evening though!!).

Had a full length veil. Felt like a princess am actually just watching the wedding video on my laptop

I never really got the the Bridezilla phase - I enjoyed planning it but we booked it 18 months in advance which IMO was too long, I spent the last 6 months impatiently waiting for it to come round as I am extremely anal and had everything organised well in advance.

What is your engagement ring like? I got my wedding ring from this fantastic company called platinumringcompany.co.uk - obviously only worthwhile if your engagement ring is platinum or white gold.

Oooo I could discuss weddings for hours

wilkie50 · 09/01/2007 14:09

chain(????) - 'train'

Lizzzombie · 09/01/2007 14:14

my ring is a plain platinum band (which is quite heavy) with a blue diamond set in flush to the band. I didnt want a stone which sat up as I know I'd scratch myself/thers with it. I originally really wanted a sapphire over a diamond, as I prefer the meaning of sapphire stones over diamonds...diamonds can be used as an eternity ring!

Oh, coz you already have an engagement ring and a wedding ring...does that mean you'll get an eternity ring when your LO appears?!

Lizzzombie · 09/01/2007 14:15

not that its all about the presents etc. obviously giving birth to a beautiful baby is a fantastic enough gift...but, ahem, I'm sort of hoping for a push present too!

wilkie50 · 09/01/2007 14:21

Heheh - me too - I have dropped enough hints but TBH, we are so skint at the moment having spent near enough £800 on the car (still bitter about this) I would be thrilled with a bouquet of flowers...we'll wait and see!!

My engagement ring is a 1/2 carat solitaire diamond (it was my grandma's diamond which we had reset in a platinum band) then my wedding ring is platinum with a matt groove in the middle of it.

Yours sounds gorgeous and unusual.

vinorouge · 09/01/2007 14:37

Galmum - can I join the list too please ? I was due on 7th Jan....

Think if I had found MN before now I would have become an addict,am starting to think I spend a bit too much time reading it already, when DH comes home and says what have you been up to today I feel a bit hseepish saying errm surfing MN for several hours!

Wilkie - I had a maggie sottero dress too when we got married last year -lovely aren't they ? Yesterday you made me want to watch grease which I never got orund to and now fancy watching the wedding.

The diy sweep made me laugh ! I need a laugh, have also been very teary lately crying at the drop of a hat. Been to get position of baby checked today as had ecv before xmas, was half hoping it would have turned back breech so I could have c/s and end this waiting but no its head down which I know I should be grateful for but am so fed up of waiting for something to happen.

Lizzzombie · 09/01/2007 14:39

thats me! gorgeous and unusual!

I do like a bit of bling. I love the idea of using your gran's ring too. I think that is really lovely, and its like she's always with you. My gran left me her eternity ring which is platinum with diamonds all round it. Not sure if i'd be brave enough to wear it though, i'd be distraught if I lost it.
I've never been into expensive jewellery though, and would be just as happy with a cubic zirconia as with a diamond. DP knows this but obviously wanted to impress me!

annieapple7 · 09/01/2007 14:40

But you must have a pushing present girls! For all that sacrifice you deserve a little bauble! I had a ring for DS1 (sort of engagement); a watch for DS2 and have just had diamond earrings for Christmas which DH tried to say was a pushing present too - but how will I get my eternity ring at this rate? That's what Barclaycards were invented for! Blimey I get to carry these stretch marks and tummy apron round for the next 40 years...what's a little debt on his credit card?
Thinking of all of you due today - sending positive vibes your way for babies to appear!

Lizzzombie · 09/01/2007 14:42

vinorouge - I was due on the 7th too, and nothing is happening at all. I don't know - so inconsiderate to keep us waiting! x

does anyone else here have singstar on the playstation? that is a great way to cheer yourself up! (maybe not the neighbours though!)

vinorouge · 09/01/2007 14:44

A pushing present had never crossed my mind until now, may well be 'suggested' to DH later on. I like your logic annieapple

I just can't wait to be able to wear my engagement and wedding rings again when my hands become normal instead of the stumpy swollen things I've got at the moment

JodieG1 · 09/01/2007 14:53

I didn't get anything for having dd but then we didn't have much money and were both 23 and living in first flat. We moved into a house when dd was a couple of weeks old and had gotten married 4 weeks before she was born so that was enough for me

I got a diamond necklace when ds was born and I've got diamond earrings for when this one arrives.

When we've been married a few more years or more we'll think about eternity rings, always seemed odd to get them after just a couple of years, we've been married almost 5 now.

Galmum · 09/01/2007 15:04

Vinorouge - you're on the list - thought I'd better do it straight away seeing as you're past your EDD.

At the moment, consultant wants to do a sweep a week on Friday when I'll be 38+6 weeks. I know I'll be thinking about 2Happy and dh!!

Have stopped cleaning blitz - am now going to rest before my pregnancy yoga class tonight - to be honest I think I'll just be rolling around the floor like a big telly tubby!! I am so immobile - not scared about labour now - just want LO to experience life on the outside!

Hi guys!Baby Arran was released from Neo-natal on New Years Eve, and things have been manic ever since. He has been diagnosed with reflux, which is a bit of a nightmare, and is feeding every two hours during the night. (AAAAARRRRRRGggggghhhhh!)

How are you all doing?

Wish someone had mentioned pushing presents before I gave birth!!

Do you us to come round with pitchforks next time the HV is due - Cheeky Mare!!

Sounds like she won't be winning "bedside manner of the year". Ignore the old boot!

Congrats to all with new babies!

Just thought I'd say I had a fab time yesterday looking ever the stylish yummy mummy - I thought I'd try the disposable pants just to see what they're like... cue song "just a little" by liberty x ...so sexy...back to normal today!

am living off nervous energy at the moment - am 39 + 3 and it seems very strange that in a week to two-ish weeks i'll have a baby

LittleMonkeysMum · 09/01/2007 15:25

Hi All
Been trying to make the most of the last few days with DD before birth of DC2 so haven't been on MN much. Congratulations to all who've delivered safe and sound.
This is getting so boring. I can't wait now, just want to get it over with.
Poppynic, how are you doing? My friend who was due the same day as us in the Royal Free had her DD 7 weeks early, she's now 5 1/2 lb and absolutely gorgeous!
Good luck everyone x

wilkie50 · 09/01/2007 15:26

Blimey - I nod off for an hour and you all come out of the woodwork!!!

Galmum - pleased you've stopped cleaning - LOL at the thought of you rolling around like a huge teletubbie
Vinorouge - get that Grease on and have a bounce/singalong on a birthing ball - that's what I was doing yesterday morning at 5am (probable why LO decided not to bother coming out!!!)
ELM - my DS twins had reflux and it was a bit of a nightmare! Hope it goes away soon
Amyclaire - at your stupid HV. Who does she think she is?????
Annieapple - credit card...nooooooooooo!! Have spent the last year trying to clear the last little bit off the one we have and have now had to stick more on it because of the bloody car that I want to change anyway. I am v proud that we are newly married with only a tiny debt on one card so my pushing pressie will have to be the LO and some flowers (and he has promised to cook me a meal with loads of stuff I haven't been able to eat since being pg i.e. prawns, mussels, all the crap I can't eat at the moment)
