This one seems to be the winner, and I can't seem to come up with anything more inventive, sorry!

Congratulations EPM - how exciting to have your LO! We are all so envious!
Do post a pic!
Lizzz - glad I am not alone in my vein horror - I feel ill just thinking about it. Please God it will go after the baby comes out! I can't believe I posted it either - thank goodness for anonymity - I don't think i could tell even my close friends that! And certainly not DH - I will have to keep him away from that end for a bit - the way I look at present it shouldn't be difficult!
On the bright side, I think the cellulite does reduce afterwards - must be all the water retention during pregnancy makes it worse. And drinking lots of water doesn't help - I drink loads and I still look like I have been wading in a vat of cottage cheese!

lulumama · 08/01/2007 16:40

sorry wilkie....too many ladies to keep up with..so ignore the last bit..the rest still stands..body getting ready for 'it' !!!

need to start making notes of who is doing what !

congratulations elliepmummy

2Happy · 08/01/2007 16:40

Hattie, my mum said her BHs got worse and more painful with every pg, so I think the constant twinges and wondering if you're going into labour is normal. (She went overdue with all 3 of us )
I also have below the knee cellulite. And stretch marks around my tummy button . And piles. And I haven't looked down below, but I dread to think what I'd find.
And pooing yourself during labour is good - it means you're pushing effectively and in the right place. I farted like a trooper when I was pushing Push Push Fart Fart Giggle! (why is farting so amusing?!) They even showed us the pooper scooper for the water pool on our tour round labour ward. Nice
CONGRATULATIONS EPM! Great news, hope the heating is fixed soon though!!
Shimmer - how are you doing?

annieapple7 · 08/01/2007 16:40

It is worth it in the end of course! But the toll pregnancy and childbirth takes on your body reminds me of the line in the film Fame - "Fame (0r having a baby) costs -and this is where you start paying!"

wilkie50 · 08/01/2007 16:47

2Happy - LMAO Push Push Fart Fart - it only struck me the other night that I might fart and for some unbeknown reason, the thought of farting upsets me FAR more than doing a poo???? I suppose it's cos the fart smell lingers and is V musical

2Happy · 08/01/2007 16:51

Yeah, a poo they can kind of whisk away, but the smell of a fart lingers on! Have to say I'd never thought about curries in that context, but it's a very good point. If your mw runs out part way through and comes back wearing a surgical mask, you know there's something up God, the poor baby, imagine the trauma of labour, then taking your fist ever breath and being confronted with that, it's no wonder newborns cry for their first month, they're all traumatised

Hattie2 · 08/01/2007 16:54

Thanks for that 2happy, maybe it's not just my overactive imagination after all!

PMSL at the 'pooper scooper' for the pool - I quite fancied a water birth until I thought about the pooing bit, wondered how they coped with that!

wilkie50 · 08/01/2007 16:56

2Happy - sounds like it would be a birthing jacuzzi with you rather than a birthing pool

2Happy · 08/01/2007 16:58

My own personal spa experience, Wilkie, PMSL!

wilkie50 · 08/01/2007 16:59

2Happy - STOP IT!!! My belly hurts from laughing so much and DH is looking at me completely gone out

Galmum · 08/01/2007 17:02

Congratulations EPM! Lovely name. Harry - have you got a cs date?

I got away without pooing or farting (I think!) with ds - but I did have the runs for a couple of days before I went into labour though! To be honest I don't think I would have cared that much at the time - no pain relief is a great way to focus the mind on other things. SIL did though and she did n't appreciate my brother telling as one of his amusing little tales!!

I also have discovered a varicose vein in the most personal of places - have n't meintioned it to anyone until now - how totally disgusting!!

Been feeling fairly low the last few days - missing my little boy even more than normal and finding it hard to face the reality that this baby will never meet him. Sorry to bring a downer on such a funny thread - I'll probably post somewhere else about it.

2Happy · 08/01/2007 17:09

Oh Galmum, don't apologise - what you've been through/are going through does make pooing in labour pale into insignificance! The void left by your ds is always going to be huge, but with baby on the way, your thoughts must be on ds so much, and the fear you must feel for the new baby too must be difficult to bear. Do you still speak to AmyJade?

wilkie50 · 08/01/2007 17:17

Galmum - so sorry that you are feeling low. I don't know what you have been through as I joined this group late but have picked up the jist. Although this is an exciting time getting closer to seeing your LO, it will envitably bring back memories of your DS.

Big hugs winging their way over to you xxxx

wilkie50 · 08/01/2007 17:18

'inevitably' - sorry x

Galmum · 08/01/2007 17:27

Thanks

I've been planning to drop amyjade a line to see how Christmas went and to see how her little boy is doing. I'll do it that later. I'm off to try and chill out in the bath - I can't put my face in any more biscuits, as I feel rather sick. Just looking forward to dh coming home and giving me a cuddle.

Please carry on the fart/poo/swollen fanjo thread! And can somebody produce another baby please - good news always cheers me up!

Congrats EPM, she is absolutely gorgeous!!

LMAO at your chatting today girls!!! Wish i had MN access during the day so could have joined in!

Will not be eating curry to try and get things started. hadn't considered curry farts !

Wilkie, I'm quite jealous that you're at least your uterus is practising!! I think my LO is in for the long haul as haven't even had any BHs. Was talking to my Mum today and both my sister and I were over 2 weeks late, so I'm expecting the same to happen to me.

JodieG1 · 08/01/2007 18:55

Congrats EPM Can you add me to the list pls, my name is at the bottom under dates you're unsure of. I'm due on the 14th Jan and expecting a boy.

annieapple7 · 08/01/2007 19:31

Galmum - don't know your story but losing a LO must be unbearable - sending you hugs too.

EPM - she is adorable - all that gorgeous dark hair. And I am even more impressed that you have updated the list with a newborn in the house! Respect!
Also have empathy - my boiler is not working now either and we are sans hot water and heating, as well as without a room for the baby until our chimney is sorted out.

But hey ho, I could have varicose veins down there...oh dear, I just remembered I have

Don't think I farted or pooped or weed during my two births but perhaps everyone was too polite to mention it. The groaning would have drowned out any toots! Third time lucky eh!

OonaghBhuna · 08/01/2007 19:36

congratulations epm!!!She is gorgeous, mydd1 has the same middle name aswell. trying to write this wile bf!!!

annieapple7 · 08/01/2007 22:13

He is gorgeous! Well done UD!

Lizzzombie · 08/01/2007 22:29

elliepmum & UD - your babies are so cute.
I am really worried that I will have an ugly one, and everyone will be too polite to say anything!

Is anyone watching ER on ch4 at the moment, its a bit too emotional, Abby is having problems with her baby. Not sure if I can watch it.
