This one seems to be the winner, and I can't seem to come up with anything more inventive, sorry!

great title

just popped in to say LOL!!!

2HappyNewYear · 30/12/2006 20:14

Harry - slap him!!
Itsazoohere - PMSL at him asking for a maglite!
Laughalot - jeez what a crappy christmas, I hope you and your family all feel better soon
Lizzz - I think it depends on your hospital. Mine provided towels, sheets/blankets/clothes and even nappies for the baby, but I don't think that's universal!
JoJo - pineapple is one of the things that's supposed to work, but last time I tried pineapple, nipple twiddling, raspberry leaf capsules, curries, sex, bumpy roads...and most people on the thread know how desparate I got since none of those things worked (but lets not embarrass me and dh again )
Trixy - dh is the opposite, we're pretty much equidistant between 2 hospitals, 1 in England, the other Scotland, but dh is damn sure I'm booked into the Scottish one so lo's can play rugby for Scotland
I nearly posted earlier to say I was in labour! Just as well I didn't as I patently wasn't, lol! But had really really uncomfortable tightenings that were getting higher up my abdomen. Ended up taking paracetamol and getting in the bath, and they died down. Hoping it means something's getting ready to happen, but have the nasty suspicion that all it means is I'm going to have painful tightenings for the next 3 weeks or so I wish there was some foolproof method of telling, like a machine that would tell you "you're 2cm dilated and on your way!" or "don't pack your bags for a couple fo weeks yet, love!". Talking of which, at least this morning has made me get off my behind and semi-pack my bag!

Tits, tits, tits. Should be "bare your fanjo" not "bear". That typo is going to irritate me until this thread is finished with!!!

OP posts:
wilkie50 · 30/12/2006 21:11

2Happy - Halle-bloody-lujah - you have semi packed your bag!!!

And...2Happy, have also just spent the past hour on the sofa with dh counting tightenings, every 10 mins for an hour but they weren't painful and seem to have stopped now. Grrr. For people that have been in labour before, do the contractions start non-painful and then get worse and if so, what sort of timescales are we talking OR do they start painfully and get worse?

Trixy - definately a 21st Jan thing although (touch wood) have been feeling a bit better today.

Have started my nipple tweaking - Lizzz, slightly concerned about your nipple clamps (think you are a secret S&M lover!!).

Tried to have a bit of nookie last night but my lady feels really sore inside. What's that about??

Daisypops · 30/12/2006 22:30

Wilkie-I'm jealous that you tried nookie. We haven't had it since July! Poor DP. I won't let him near my fanjo its like a swollen piece of liver (TMI) !!!

Not sure about contractions getting more painful. In my classes we were told it can be all in your back or like period pains but someone I work with said she felt like she needed a poo?! I've been geting loads of tightenings and pulling sensations but they aren't painful??? Everyone has said when you start you'll know about it!

MW told me to have a vindaloo, some pineapple and some sex. Don't fancy any of it I'm afraid.

Nemo2007 · 30/12/2006 23:37

hellloooo all..I do read thread but just dont get to post as dont think this pregnancy has been real until the past couple of weeks. Once DB is here I promise to be a better thread member. Am seeing consultant on tues and hoping to get fri as a inducement date so with any luck this time next week I will be cuddling my new baby[only this time last year was cuddling a 2wk old DD

Hope everyone is ok and coping wth the discomfort/fear and pain..not long now!!!!!!!!!!!!

elliepmummy · 31/12/2006 07:37

Nemo if you go in on friday that'll be 3 of us me, dragonhart and you all the babies could be sharing the same birthday

I'll post the list later so its on this thread. DD & I both have rotten stinking colds from my niece who was spluttering all over us on boxing day. dd cough sounds like a dog barking but she is trying to be brave and stands there with her mouth wide open at nurofen/calpol/cough mixture time! Going to pop to pharmacy in morrisons later to find out what I can take as my throat feels like sandpaper and praying I don't get the cough as imagine coughing after c section may be a little painful.

Anyone doing anything tonight we are staying in as dh working tomorrow and I can't be arsed to do anything but watch tv!

LadyTophamHatt · 31/12/2006 10:26

Seeeeeee 2happy...you should have just gone with my "Thank Fuck it's january" suggestion....there are no bears in that

Nemo, I have a consultant appt on Tues too. maybe we'll both get a date when this PG is finally going to produce a little person. I bloody well hope so.....

Hattie2 · 31/12/2006 12:07

I have consultant appt on Thurs, MW suggested he may want to induce on Friday due to size of baby (but then this MW says a lot of things I don't beleive!) - so I may be joining the Friday 5th club!!

epm - my dd has a croupy cough at the moment as well, poor thing either sounds like a seal or a dog.

LetitShnowLetitShnowLetitShnow · 31/12/2006 12:16

Can I just say as somebody from the May07 antenatal thread (all still firmly in denial about the birth part), your thread title has terrified the living daylights out of me.

Galmum · 31/12/2006 12:36

Just forget you ever read it!! It does n't hurt, nobody poos themself and nobody has a good old rummage up your fanjo!! Atleast go with those thoughts for as long as possible.

Any more babies yet?? I'm getting obsessed about who will have a bundle of fun next! Please oblige someone and give me some news!

Galmum · 31/12/2006 12:41

Think I have copied Elliepmummy's big list ok. I like to keep looking at it to see who's due soon and I'm trying not to get too depressed about how far away my due date it!!!

Thinking of MumofMonsters today - saw a thread yesterday, it would have been her due date today . Such a hard time of year for everyone who had to leave the thread early. Hope she's ok.

Well I am mega depressed today I want my little girl out, I want to be in the paper tomorrow as the first mummy to give birth in 2007 , no there is a reason behind my madness 10 years ago today my fil died at the age of 41 and even though it was along time ago because it was very sudden we still miss him terribly, my dh hates new year which is understandble but he really wanted a new year baby just to try and bring a bit of happiness back to this day, my fil also wanted a girl himself he ended up with 2 sons my dh bro has three children and they are all boys and we have 1 ds so when we found out at the scan it was a girl my dh was so happy and really wished his dad could be here to see her so all along we have been saying we wouldnt be suprised if baby arrives at new year but no sign yet...... dont think I can face he curry, sex thing I tried it with my ds and he was still 10 days late. I do have a serious question to ask if anyone knows the answer and it does relate to a nhs hospital and not a private one my dh starts a new job on the 22 jan and may have to go away that week so cannot be off if the baby is late I am due 10th jan and as I said before I was late with my ds 10 days which I dont want to happen with this one when I was late wih my ds they were prepared to let me go 14 days before they induced me can I ask my midwife to book me in for say the 11th of jan if baby hasnt arrived or are there strict guidelines its just my dh does not want to miss the birth and also wants a bit of time with her after she is born. And before I forget happy new year..........

elliepmummy · 31/12/2006 15:49

JodieG1 · 31/12/2006 16:25

I'm due on the 14th and have just got up from a nap to have some contractions, wonder if this is it. I'm 38 weeks today.

Hattie2 · 31/12/2006 16:55

Fingers crossed for you if it is the real thing Jodie - keep us posted!

Lizzzombie · 31/12/2006 18:22

I can't stop sleeping. Is this normal?
I seem to be awake all night and then sleep all day. I have no energy and cant eat anything at all. Everything gives me horrendous heartburn. I can't handle it anymore!

My due date is next Sunday, so officially I have a week to go. If my baby comes any later than that I swear I'm going to go mad.
(approximately 168 hours and counting)
As much as I am shitting my pants over giving birth, I am DESPERATE for a decent meal.

And considering I had under two hours sleep last night, I really cant imagine it being any worse when the baby finally arrives.

Sorry to moan, Happy New Year everyone!

JodieG1 · 31/12/2006 18:35

Liz I'm the same at night, just can't see to sleep, but during the day I feel tired and can nap. Not always possible though as I have a 3 year old ds and 4 year old dd, dh has had the past week off work so I've been lucky in that I've been able to sleep in the day.

I'm also getting the heartburn and am taking rennie for it, can't stand the taste of gaviscon. I am really worried about the labour and have a fear of tearing which is silly seeing as I've done it twice and coped with just gas and air and not torn either time, I suppose having had 2 fast and easyish births I'm worried that this is bound to be bad! I'm more scared this time than with either of the others.

I'm still getting some mild contractions but they aren't picking up, not yet at least. Even though I'm 38 weeks today my first was born at 36 weeks and second at 38 weeks so I'm expecting this little boy to arrive sooner than later. Just hoping it's fast!

Lizzzombie · 31/12/2006 18:50

Jodie - they say that with each birth it gets quicker right? So number three should be easy peasy for you. (fingers crossed)

I'm terrified of tearing, and have read conflicting reports on cutting vs. tearing. Don't want to think about it.

I just keep telling myself women wouldnt do this over and over again if it was really so bad - right?????!

JodieG1 · 31/12/2006 20:29

Liz I'm hoping that this birth will be easier! I've heard some horror stories about 3rd labours being unpredictable though.

I've read a lot about tearing v's cuts and I would definitely rather have a tear than a cut unless they thought the tear would be extensive. The thing with cuts is that you usually carry on tearng after they cut you which makes it a larger wound. Also tears are supposed to heal better than cuts because they are along the more natural line, I plan on not having stitches for a tear unless absolutely necessary as I believe it will heal better that way.

I really don't know why I'm so worried about the pain because both mine weren't really that bad, they were very fast and intense but so worth it and bearable. Obviously they were painful but not unbearable. I think some of it is the not knowing when it will happen either. I'm still getting contractions with backache and achy feelings under my bump but they're not getting worse so nothing really moving on yet.

JodieG1 · 31/12/2006 20:31

Forgot to say that baby was 3/5th's engaged when I was checked on Thursday and feels really low down still. I know you can be engaged for ages before anything happens though so I'm not holding my breath.

Loubie37 · 31/12/2006 23:17

Just a quicky to say happy new year everyone I'm another one with an appt to discuss induction on Thursday, hopefully they'll set me off on Friday so I'm hoping for baby to be born by next Saturday at the latest I had another scan on Fri (ended up being in hosp most of the day due to high blood pressure and a real sharp pain at the top of my bump) and baby is approx 8lbs now (at 37 wks) so he'd plenty big enough imho

All the best everyone

Loubie xx
