Hi I'm so sorry for the delay, yesterday didn't go to plan. Ended up with an emergency c-section then was very sick from the anaesthetic so really couldn't update you all im so sorry. Today has been a whirlwind but I'm pleased to say I'm ok and so is baby southy who is a girl, she is 5lb 13oz and totally gorgeous. I'm still looking at her and thinking wow she's mine. Struggling with a lot of stomach pain from the op today, and also struggling with BF but hoping it gets better soon. The pain is so worth it though. I will try and catch up tomorrow with your updates but hope you're all ok

PearlyFish · 28/04/2016 00:05

Congratulations Southy! Glad to hear you are ok and have a beautiful daughter Smile Hope the pain eases soon and that the BF gets easier x

notsoold · 28/04/2016 00:08

Wonderful to hear from you southy and congratulations on the arrival of your lovely baby girl!!! Wonderful!!!!! Look after yourself and try to rest. It is a big operation so never say no to any help offered...xxx

Pikz · 28/04/2016 02:00

Southy so many congratulations. Be gentle on yourself

ODog · 28/04/2016 06:26

Congrats southy. Hope you recover well. Get all the help you need with bf. It dies get easier but is relentless and sore in the early days/weeks and that's fairly normal and not a sign anything is wrong.

cantbelieveImquittingcoffee · 28/04/2016 06:41

Congratulations Southy!! And another announcement over on the FB group so that was 2 May babies born in late April (same day I think!), I won't do a spoiler if the other mumma wants to announce here herself Wink

Icecappedpinetrees · 28/04/2016 07:36

Well done Southy! Congratulations! Such lovely news, they are just amazing, aren't they, you can't stop staring at them!

Sorry to hear it didn't all go smoothly. I agree with the others, take everything very slowly and YY to everything ODog said about feeding. Also I used the boards here for support and got excellent, sensible, practical advice. Just be guided by your baby girl, any decision you make will be the best for her.

Icecappedpinetrees · 28/04/2016 07:38

Oooooh who else had their baby??

29? Grouchy? Parsnip?

I'm going to go back in the thread and look for clues.......

Everythinggettingbigger · 28/04/2016 07:42

Congratulations Southy fab news! Sorry everything didn't go to plan but she's here safe and sound! Enjoy every second!

29redshoes · 28/04/2016 07:53

Huge congratulations on your baby girl, southy! Hope you are ok and recover soon. Flowers

GunShotResidue · 28/04/2016 07:57

Congratulations southy!
I found BF really hard for the first week, then it became pretty easy and we fed until 22 months. On the other hand my friend switched to formula after 6 weeks and it was 100% the best thing for them.

I'm 37 weeks today but no signs of anything. My hips hate me though.

cantbelieveImquittingcoffee · 28/04/2016 07:59

Ice I think you'd have to go back to the 1st or 2nd May thread to find her actually Wink part of the reason the May boards didn't move very fast for a long time is because the FB group got all of the chat - easier to keep up! So some people pretty much switched and dropped MN which is great because it means I get to have the same moans twice over

cantbelieveImquittingcoffee · 28/04/2016 08:00

And of course anyone here is welcome to join the FB group, just PM as Pearly mentioned before!

GrouchyKiwi · 28/04/2016 08:15

Congratulations, Southy! Hope that you recover well after that difficult time. Definitely agree with ODog about getting whatever help you can with breastfeeding. The early weeks can be tough but if you make it through those then it gets much easier. And if you don't then formula is excellent too.

How exciting that our babies have finally started arriving!

DH and I made the crib last night. I need to get a new mattress because we didn't store it properly, and I need to give the crib a good wash with vinegar, but I got a little emotional seeing it sitting by our bed.

Congratulations Southy!! It's so exciting that babies are starting to be born!

(I'm someone who's guilty of having moved to Facebook instead of posting here but I do read it every so often)

frozensmoothie · 28/04/2016 10:21

Congratulations on your daughter Southy and glad that you're both okay. Hope you're feeling better today.

ParsnipSoup · 28/04/2016 13:19

Congratulations Southy!! Sorry to hear that things didn't go to plan but so happy that you're getting to snuggle up with your little one. Does this mean we now need to start a May 2016 postnatal thread?!

Had the midwife this morning. Bump has stopped growing so I have to go for a growth scan over the next 5-7 days. Frustratingly this falls over the bank holiday and then my MSc graduation on Wednesday (I said from the beginning that something was going to happen on graduation day!). Really hoping they can squeeze me in for a scan on Tuesday so at least I know where I stand.

GrouchyKiwi · 28/04/2016 19:07

Snap, Parsnip. I've hardly got bigger since my last appointment with MW and I've not put on enough weight. Will hopefully find out tomorrow when my scan is. There were also ketones in my urine, blood pressure was a little high and I've been having headaches. So she took extra blood to check for pre-eclampsia. She had to take some anyway to recheck my iron levels.

Icecappedpinetrees · 28/04/2016 19:53

I'm the same Parsnip - I go for my second growth scan tomorrow so we'll find out if it's a small baby consistently growing or a baby that isn't growing as it should (maybe placenta declining?) then options will be either to leave it if it's just wee but growing fine or induction if it's tailing off. Feel like tomorrow is D-day, just want some answers.

ODog · 28/04/2016 20:03

Wow all sounds very worrying ice, grouchy and parsnip. But good that it's being picked up and checked. I think this is why my area do a routine growth scan at 36wks for everyone now. I would have been measuring small but I know that baby is just on the small side (36th percentile apparently although I'm not sure how accurate that is). It's actually quite nice to know given that DS was born on the 91st percentile. Hopefully I'll be able to sneeze this one out not wishful thinking at all

Everythinggettingbigger · 28/04/2016 20:38

ODog that made me laugh....sneezing the baby out! Considering my first got stuck and he was 6lb 11oz I was actually quite relieved by the midwife saying this one feels on the small side....but no scan to confirm!

Pikz · 28/04/2016 20:38

Ice, grouchy and parsnip hope you are all ok

Odog mine seem to be the other way DS was only 7lb6 and this one is measuring 42 weeks Shock

ParsnipSoup · 28/04/2016 21:07

I was measuring huge before today but have now "fallen" to the 90th centile. Just hoping baby isn't so big that my placenta is struggling. I think it's more likely that either the last measurement was wrong or he's shifted into a different position. He's literally all smushed up on my right side as if my left side just isn't as cosy.

I hope everyone else's growth scans go well!

ODog fingers crossed for a sneeze-birth!

Will be interesting to see what size babies we all have compared to the predictions.

ODog · 28/04/2016 22:02

I have fingers crossed for the sneeze birth too! I bet she will be a giant now, I know the tape measure predictions aren't great but hoping that the scan measurements are better please . DS was 8lb 15oz so he has trodden a good size path for this one to slip through.

ParsnipSoup · 28/04/2016 22:41

So many achy pains this evening got me all excited but everything has stopped (except for baby squishing liver pain which is always there!).

ODog apparently scans can be about +/- 10% out, but everyone has stories of them being wildly wrong or completely spot on. I guess it's like everything else in pregnancy... all a mystery!!
