Wow this thread is busy today.

southy - hope you progress nicely and the PE doesn't get too bad before baby arrives. Nearly there.

pikz I have a challenging toddler today too. Just had a two hour battle of won't eat, won't play, won't sleep...just moaning! Chucked him in the buggy and walked him about the village until he fell asleep in the end. I guess it was my payback for him being unusually good sitting in the trolley at the supermarket earlier. Now eating a huge cake and a drinking coffee.

Definitely feel hugely pregnant today. Had about 3 hrs sleep last night due to DS waking/5 wees/weird dreams about skulls after watching the crossrail skull programme. Plus my back is aching and the baby is still sitting on a nerve that feels like I'm getting stabbed in the bum cheek every so often.

38+4 and can't wait to get this baby out until I think about sleep

Icecappedpinetrees · 26/04/2016 14:21

ODog - I had about the same sleep 10.30-12.30 then toddler came in. I got the reason he came through - apparently there had been a big plane crash and the pilot had broomed away in a car, very scary. (Damn you Rupert the Bear story!!)

Midwife this morning - Still measuring small - another scan on Friday to let me know whether it's just a small baby or whether growth is tailing off and I'll need induced. Waiting, waiting, waiting, it's awful isn't it, ladies?

Thoughts are with Southy!

Grouchy - I might bake too, does melting chocolate to make rice crispier cakes count? Did cupcakes last week but not feeling up to stopping a wilful toddler pouring milk everywhere and eating egg shells etc!

29redshoes · 26/04/2016 21:21

Oooh logged on wondering if there might be news, but see there's none so far...

Midwife appointment was a bit more stressful than expected! She couldn't feel the head at all, then when she tried to pick up the heartbeat it seemed to be towards the top of the bump... She got her colleague in to check, same thing happened.. Then they both start wondering if the baby has flipped and gone breech, argh!!

Anyway, fortunately the appointment was at the hospital so I was able to have a v quick scan which confirmed that the baby is still head down. Phew. Head is just very low which is why midwife couldn't feel it. Although after all that she wrote 3/5 engagement in my notes, which I found a bit confusing.

Sorry your appointment was stressful too, ice - fingers crossed for you for Friday.

Pikz · 26/04/2016 21:37

29 was checking in for news too, glad baby is the right way up

Sorry to all the others who had stressful toddler days. I took all your advice and dos have a nap before I had to pick him up

Lots of tightenings again. Bet I'm still here next week

ODog · 26/04/2016 21:50

Also looking for news...

Lots of tightening a here too but I'm sure I'll be clinging on until the bitter end. Maybe it's just because I'm watching OBEM.

cantbelieveImquittingcoffee · 27/04/2016 04:58

Can anyone tell me why (on particularly bad sleep nights) my bloody EAR is so painful?? FFS!! Seeing as how i can only sleep on my left hand side my whole left ear sometimes starts to ache ridiculously from laying on it (to add to all the other aches and pains) and it seems that once that starts my hopes of sleeping at all are over! Awake on and off since 1am and have been on the sofa since 4.30...
Am starting to wonder if the feelings I am getting at bedtime for the last few nights would be described as "tightenings" too - realised yesterday that I'm paranoid I might not recognise the symptoms of early labour and end up feeling stupid about it when suddenly everything kicks off...
But then again I bet I'm still saying the same in 3 weeks time as they wheel me in to be induced!

ODog · 27/04/2016 06:54

Why can you only sleep on your left cant?

My BHs make my whole stomach go rock hard and tent shaped if that helps. Never had them first time around.

Lots of people don't recognise early labour and it can go on for weeks in some people but you will know when it starts properly.

cantbelieveImquittingcoffee · 27/04/2016 07:19

Mostly because that's the side of the bed I sleep on, I do sometimes find myself on my
back or right side now though I tend to get beached if I lay in my back!! There's that artery in your right side though that it's recommended to just sleep on your left though I'm not sure how important that really is but mostly I just don't want DP breathing in my face
Hmm, have definitely started to see the tent-shaped thing though mostly when I try to sit up - I suppose it's probably still just the baby moving around that I'm noticing!
Feeling a bit shit for DP this morning as I kept him awake so much...but also hoping I manage to sleep enough later to make up for the bad night (even though I know he doesn't have that luxury). But meanwhile it sounds like there is a new episode of OBEM for me to catch up on!

Icecappedpinetrees · 27/04/2016 07:37

The tent shaped thing is where your stomach muscles are splitting and buggered. I was told to always roll over sideways before trying to get up to avoid tent-ing.

I had agony ear last night from sleeping on LHS. I have a toddler and DH on the other side. Sleep last night was awful but better than previous night.

Thanks 29 - these last few weeks/days are just a worry. Just ready to get going! What a relief when they realised it was the correct way, oh yeah, and realised your baby still has a head Hmm Grin

Morning Southy - thinking of you this morning.

Pikz · 27/04/2016 12:13

I've cap I think you are right as I never had a tent shaped bit last time and I know mine are split and I do this time.

Had 39 week midwife at 39+3. Have to go to day assessment at 5pm to see consultant. Am very swollen, high blood pressure, protein in urine and he's measuring 42 weeks. Not sure what they will say as I can't really be induced due to emcs last time.

ODog · 27/04/2016 12:24

Yep tent shaped thing when you sit up is just where the muscles have split. But it happens when I get BHs which I guess if because the muscles either side are tense.

Hope all ok pikz. Fingers crossed for you.

Still no news from southy then...

Icecappedpinetrees · 27/04/2016 12:40

Will be thinking of you Pikz. They'll probably book you for CS in the next couple of days?? I can't imagine they'd leave you with that list of factors! Are you feeling ok? Do you have someone to watch your little one while you go to your appt? Things change fast at this stage of the game.....

Pikz · 27/04/2016 12:58

Odog thank you... Am also thinking about Southy.... I'm not on the Facebook group... Didn't know if there was any news up there?

Ice cap I have my mum leaving work early so hubby can come with me. Not sure what they will do...we shall have to see. Part of me wants them just to get him out now as I'm feeling rather bleh

frozensmoothie · 27/04/2016 13:17

I hope you're okay pikz that sounds scary.

Southy's not in the FB group so there's no news on there either. Hope you're okay Southy and have had your baby by now.

Oh no I didn't realise that the tent shape meant your stomach muscles had split. I get this when attempting to sit up in the bath and instead sliding around like a beached whale. There I was feeling smug that I hadn't got a single stretch mark yet Confused

Went out for a walk this morning but got an awful stitch in my bump half way through. Struggling a bit to stay mobile now so think I will spend this afternoon bouncing on my ball!

daisywhoopsie · 27/04/2016 13:33

Hope you're ok pikz. Hoping southy is getting on well too! Thinking of you both.

Anybody else got snow where they are? It's making me a little nervous as we've been snowed in here before. No public transport, roads closed, the lot! Hoping it doesn't get to that point as I haven't been planning a home birth!

Double post there, thank you app!

29redshoes · 27/04/2016 17:22

That sounds stressful pikz I hope your appointment goes ok.

I haven't experienced the tent thing at all, maybe because it's my first?

Pikz · 27/04/2016 19:19

Thank you for all the well wishes. On way home.

Upshot is baby all good... My body a bit knackered and close to the end. Just need to be checked every couple of days

ParsnipSoup · 27/04/2016 19:28

I've missed so much over the last couple of days. Hope everything is going well for Southy, fingers crossed she's so busy having lovely newborn snuggles that she's forgotten all about us.

Glad your appointment went well Pikz, hopefully not too long to go now if you're starting to feel rubbish.

It's been snowing on and off here since yesterday, but not setting. Makes me very glad I'm a 10 minute drive from the hospital through the middle of town. If it gets heavier the little villages around here will not be nice to drive in.

So at only 36+1 I'm already grouchy and want to have this baby. Last night he turned transverse again and it was so uncomfortable that I cried for about 2 hours. He's now shifted again... I'm not sure which way, but my stomach is now totally squashed meaning lots of surprise throwing up. Including in the middle of the night. Almost threw up on DPs head last night when I woke up with a mouth full of vomit, tried to jump out of bed and in his sleep he wouldn't let go of my arm!! Midwife appointment tomorrow. Will be interested to see which way up he is now.

GrouchyKiwi · 27/04/2016 19:39

Glad your baby is well, Pikz. Hope you don't have to wait long and that it isn't stressful for you. And also hope you're able to rest a lot. Flowers

I also have a MW appointment tomorrow, Parsnip. It took a little bit of convincing but she's coming here because I can't find a babysitter for the children, and I can't take them with me as I can't walk well enough to look after DD2. Will get bloods taken to check on my iron levels and decide whether I still get my homebirth.

Hope everyone else is feeling well.

And also hoping Southy is enjoying newborn snuggles right now.

Is there a Facebook group?

Hope everyone is feeling OK and all these babies are behaving themselves!! Lots of pains here, wouldn't say so much tightenings as more period type pains but not leading to anything! Only 36+1 too so bit early yet anyway!

PearlyFish · 27/04/2016 20:45

Sorry I've been away from the thread for ages. Got my fingers crossed for Southy!

Currently 38+5 and getting plenty of warm up pains. Baby wasn't in a great position at last midwife appt so I've started seeing a chiropractor - wish I'd thought of doing it earlier as it turns out my pelvis is slightly misaligned.

Good luck and safe birthing to all of you. Hopefully I will be able to keep up with the thread from here on!

Everything if you send a PM to me or Cant or frozen with your name and description of profile pic we should be able to add you to the FB group if you want.

Everythinggettingbigger · 27/04/2016 20:55

Thanks Pearly I have just sent you a message.

Just got really excited that these babies are going to verify arriving over the next month! Smile
