oh cant nothing worse than not being able to sleep! hope you have a better nights rest tonight!

ODog we co-sleep with our 5 year old, not through choice, he just doesn't sleep!! its the only way we can get any sleep, he usually goes to bed in his own bed for the first few hours then gets in ours, the last 2 nights with him being on half term, hes come to bed straight away in our bed and been a bloody nightmare!! definitely going in his own bed tonight mummy needs space!! hes such a fidget!

oh fab where about are you? horrible grey day in Merseyside! although I must say im not a pre-washer of baby clothes, I love things nice and neat out of the packet, although I might change my mind once on mat leave when I run out of things to do!

I seen a quick snippet about that on facebook yesterday, freaked me out a little and I don't know why, couldn't imagine breastfeeding someone elses child or someone breastfeeding mine, but an amazing story that so many people offered to help! there is still good in the world!

Icecappedpinetrees · 13/04/2016 08:05

Morning everyone,

I know I'm a little late to the running but can I join here? I'm 36+2 with my second baby. I have a little boy who is 2 (and a quarter... Only 3/4 of terrible twos to go...then I'm looking forward to threenager Grin) I'm not working at the moment but being at home all day with my wee man can seem like hard work! I'm due 9th May, we didn't find out if it's a boy or girl, either will be such a blessing.

I'm going for an extra scan today as I'm measuring small (33cm or 31cm according to the student midwife Shock) I've been reading the last few pages to get up to date with your journeys. Nice to meet you everyone.

ParsnipSoup · 13/04/2016 08:09

Welcome Ice. I hope your scan goes well today, let us know! I have so much respect for people who are pregnant with toddlers, I just don't understand where you get the energy from?!

Just about to start my long run of 9 shifts in a row at work and then I'm on maternity leave! Wooooo! So much left to do in those 9 days though. Oops.

Icecappedpinetrees · 13/04/2016 08:11

ODog - have you ever taken spatone? If you're border low iron it's great. I was dreadfully low in first pregnancy and it pulled my levels right up. I could physically feel the difference too. I take two sachets in orange juice - easy. I was tired, breathless, faint etc and it made a huge difference. Taking it again now as my iron levels are always a bit low and who knows what labour/early newborn days will bring.

cantbelieveImquittingcoffee · 13/04/2016 08:49

Hi icecapped and good morning everyone else....
It's my last day at work today!!! Can't believe I am nearly there! 36 weeks + 6 today and SO ready to finish the commute into central London/waddling around and being in charge. The end is in sight! Let's not talk about the bit that comes next

frozensmoothie · 13/04/2016 09:56

Welcome ice

I second the recommendation for Spatone. My iron levels were borderline /low but they didn't want to put me on tablets due to to the side effects. I feel like a new woman after taking the Spatone and have so much more energy!

I've been on maternity leave since Monday and have already forgotten about work which has suprised me! I'm helping out DH a bit with his business but other than that it's nice to sleep in and laze around. Meeting some of my NCT group for coffee later, the first time we've met up!

Good luck with your last day at work cant

37+3 today and getting impatient to meet the baby!

ODog · 13/04/2016 12:24

Welcome ice. I might have to get some of this spartone stuff.

Hope you enjoy your last day cant. Enjoy your pre-baby mat leave. I loved mine!

Enjoy your nct meet up frozen. I really look back fondly on the long pre-baby lunches I had with the nct girls. It was never quite as relaxing after they started arriving (and basically impossible once they start moving about - we just take it in turns to have everyone round each other's houses now or suffer the hell of soft play )

Everythinggettingbigger · 13/04/2016 14:37

Hi ice let us know how your scan goes! I'm always baffled as to how they can measure as I was twice the size with my first DS as I am this time round!

Only got 3 days left in work...well today should have been one of them....been hit with the bug that's going round....cold and chest infection! Had it since Thursday! So 2 days left now and only 34+1 today so I admire you all working up until the end! I couldn't imagine having to commute through London! A half hour drive and parking right outside the front door of work is bad enough!

Bags officially packed! Is everyone else sorted now? I just need witch hazel which boots had run out of!

GunShotResidue · 13/04/2016 14:55

Welcome ice :) DD is 2 and a quarter, the terrible twos are not fun! I hoe your scan goes well :)

I feel like I'm mostly sorted Everything, but I don't have many clothes that fit so I will have to throw a few extra pj bottoms and a going home outfit into the bag when I do go into labour.

I'm very impatient now. I think I've decided on a section if he is breech, but the scan isn't until a week tomorrow so I feel like I'm in limbo again. 8 days seems a very long time!

TiffanyAtBreakfast · 13/04/2016 15:28

Hi all, hope everyone is feeling okay today!

Had a 34 week growth scan yesterday, baby is still measuring large but they're happy with his proportions etc. I've got another scan booked at the 38 week mark. To be honest I feel huge and knackered already so goodness knows how I will feel by then!

Because baby is big I've got to go for another GTT diabetes test on Friday just to double check (I had a normal reading at my last test). 2-3 hours of sitting around in the hospital, what joy! Worth it to make sure baby isn't at risk of anything though of course. I don't want to take DH with me this time as he is so rubbish at waiting and makes me feel stressed! Think I'll treat myself to a new book to take with me and just ignore everyone!

ParsnipSoup · 13/04/2016 16:13

I hope those of you already on maternity leave are having a lovely relaxing time. I had an exceptionally chilled day at work today so I'm not feeling as full of dread about the next 8 days.

Spatone sounds like something worth trying. My hb is borderline and I've been huffing and puffing around. I think I'll pop and get some tomorrow. If I wasn't so lazy I could probably get some tonight.

Tiffany you poor thing having to have the GTT again! Definitely treat yourself to a good book (and something yummy to eat afterwards!).

I have the midwife tomorrow. Looking forward to seeing if she thinks I'm still breech... I'm pretty sure I can feel a head by my ribs. I'm also wondering how much bigger I need to measure to get a growth scan?!?!

Nicky333 · 13/04/2016 16:31

I'm only 34 weeks and finishing for mat leave at 39 weeks. 5 minute drive from the office and sat at my desk all day so it's not too bad. My essential work is being shared out with my department so I have to teach people how to do what I do. The non-essential stuff is going to wait until I get back.

cantbelieveImquittingcoffee · 13/04/2016 19:55

I just finished work!!! The last week and a half have been like an endurance race (to say nothing of DP's schedule being insane and him working till the middle of the night/waking me up/me having to do all the cooking...) but I finally walked out the door just before 7 tonight and promptly burst into tears!! DP has submitted his project too so we are both knackered but pleased to have survived to this date which has been etched in both our calendars for so long...
But my bloody feet have turned into enormous elephant feet in the past few days, it's horrid! 37 weeks tomorrow and suddenly everyone I talk to is amazed as they think I am less pregnant than that (whereas a few weeks/months ago they kept asking me if I was sure I was not having one....)
I can't wait to do very little tomorrow!!!!

Icecappedpinetrees · 13/04/2016 20:07

Evening ladies.

Another day closer to maternity leave for a lot of you...keep going, the end is in sight.

Scan went fine. I've just got a wee nipper - 9% - but still plenty growing time left. All in proportion and fluid was fine so I'm reassured.

Now if I could only find a way to keep my 2yo in his cot I might be able to put my feet up for a bit.

Icecappedpinetrees · 13/04/2016 20:10

cantbelieveImquittingcoffee Flowers well done!

ParsnipSoup · 13/04/2016 20:19

Hurrah Can't. Sounds like you deserve a takeaway and an evening of complete relaxation. You are an absolute star for being able to not murder your DH if he's been waking you up... even if it is due to an important work thing. I'm a little bit ashamed to admit I cried in bed last night because DP fell asleep so quickly and I was still wide awake.

Good news about the scan ice. Fingers crossed your little one drops off to sleep and you get to put your feet up.

ODog · 13/04/2016 21:21

Welcome to mat leave cant. Enjoy it. So Envy of people on baby free mat leave. Although I have to admit I am loving having this time with just DS before he becomes a big brother and has to share me with a boob monster. We had a lovely day today: toddler grp, a sunny walk after in the buggy resulting in a nap (yes!) and then afternoon on the beach. Just need to work on convincing him that his new favourite game 'chase or run mum-mum' is not ideal at almost 37wks pregnant!

ice - I also have a toddler (2 in June) who doesn't like his own bed. We had one blissful month where he slept through in his own bed and now we are back to having him sleep with us on top of me . Pretty much accepted we will have 4 in a bed in a few weeks time.

cantbelieveImquittingcoffee · 14/04/2016 06:45

Thanks all! Although I think day one of maternity leave will be sent trying to get the sleep I missed last night...could hardly breathe through my nose and lay awake from 4.30am (after already sleeping fitfully from 12.30 up until that point). Gave up and got up at 5.30! Is late pregnancy sinus trouble a common thing?

ODog · 14/04/2016 06:59

I don't know if it's a 'thing' cant but I struggle with sinuses pregnant or not. The worst thing is that sudafed is banned during pregnancy and BF!! Vicks works really well for me. Have to slap it in but works well enough to help me get back to sleep.

Icecappedpinetrees · 14/04/2016 07:18

I think all sleep related rubbishness can be linked to pregnancy!! 10am nap then longer afternoon nap after your lunch, repeat every day until your baby is born Smile in between times you can do all your nesting bits and bobs.

Well it ended up being three cot escapes and a general carry on with removing his pyjamas and pull-up last night but he slept in his cot. I feel like an absolute monster for ignoring his little "muuuumy pleeeease" at 3.30am and 5.30am but it was everyone's benefit, right??

cantbelieveImquittingcoffee · 14/04/2016 07:26

Vicks! Thanks odog I will get some and give it a whirl! On the chest??
and ice YES it was very definitely for everyone's benefit (I'm going to continue living in my fantasy-world that sleep with a baby will be better than 3rd trimester sleep so to all who know better - shhhhh!! Wink)
Meanwhile am irrationally irritated with DP because I made him coffee half an hour ago and he hasn't got moving yet - despite the fact the poor bugger has been surviving on 3-5 hours sleep for the past week and finally has some breathing space I now just want him out of my hair so that I can eat Nutella on toast and watch iplayer get on with my day!!!

ODog · 14/04/2016 07:29

We had 3 wake ups last night too ice but no stripping off luckily! Grin. DS is in a toddler bed so just tends to wander in and get in bed with us at some point but I had to go fetch him last night annoyingly!

Got a blissful 4hr interrupted chink of sleep though. Plus DH is not going into work until late because of the dentist so I'm still in bed. I always think if you can get a 4hr chunk in then the day is fine. Also realising I probably won't get that for months after a few weeks so I'm enjoying it now.

ODog · 14/04/2016 07:29

Sorry 4hr uninterrupted

GunShotResidue · 14/04/2016 07:42

cant I've been waking up with a completely blocked nose for the past few months. It's driving me mad.

DD stayed in her own bed until 5.30 last night, which was amazing, but she then sat on the edge of her bed and shouted for us rather than just coming in. Whenever I lie on the sofa she comes up and shouts "Wake. Upppppp!" at me! Looking forward to the weekend when DH gives me a lie in and lots of naps

Icecappedpinetrees · 14/04/2016 07:58

It's grim when 4 hours seems like good sleep, isn't it?? But tbh, that will be great when new ones arrive soon!

Yeah toddlers hate to see you resting, sitting, lying down. DS also shouts wake up if I sit too still. And he impersonates a cockerel. He's bright but incredibly annoying Grin

Have a good day everyone, work or rest Smile
