Hope everyone is having a nice weekend.

I am also not letting anyone at the hospital except my parents and DH and DS. I don't care if its 'not fair' on DH's family. I don't really get on with them and they sit about wanting to be waited on. DH had to get them coffees from the canteen
when they visited about 4hrs post birth with DS. So they can F off.

I'm also limiting visitors at home to my parents and brothers and DH's parents for at least a week but probably longer
. We were like a bloody service station on the m25 last time. People popping in and out all the time at all hours. So they can all F off too.

I'm also so over pregnancy today. DH has been useless. He took DS swimming for the first time in ages. DS loves it when I take him every week but DH lasted about 15mins in there with him as DS just cried. Then he pretty much left me to play with him all day (mostly whilst sitting under the dining room table - why do kids like this!) as he was busy watching football. Then he spent 45mins trying to put him to bed before giving up (because the rugby was starting) and me having to take over and try to calm down a wired DS. God knows what they were doing up there but it couldnt have been very relaxing.

Had a massive rant about how I'm practically going to be a single mum to 2 kids in a matter of weeks since he doesn't get home until after DS is in bed most days. He just sort of looked at me like I was telling him stuff he had never realised. He's off on a sodding ski trip next weekend for a week too. Wonder what he would think if I just up and left for a week.....

ODog · 20/03/2016 21:00

Sorry for last nights rants post. Today has been a better day!

Southy84 · 20/03/2016 21:11

Hi everyone hope you've all had nice weekends, odog just read your post and though oh wow this is how I feel, I'm so fed up, been ill all week, want to meet baby now, in pain with hip/back/groin/feet and totally agree with the visitor situation at the hospital/at home. I feel like I don't really want to see anyone, don't mind family at home but that's it and feel like a right miserable sod! Sorry you're also juggling looking after your ds and dh, but glad you've had a better day. Do you have some nice plans for when DH is away?

Two days at work for me this week then annual leave Til the 1st April, it couldn't have come at a better time! Then when I go back 3 weeks Til mat leave, double hooray!!!!!

frozensmoothie · 21/03/2016 08:32

Sorry to hear about your weekend ODog but glad yesterday was better. Im dreading pregnancy with a toddler if I have a second. It must be so hard!

Sorry to hear you're in pain Southy but at least the end is in sight with mat leave! How far along will you be when you start mat leave?

I had my NHS antenatal class on Saturday at the hospital. I wasn't sure if it would be worth it with doing NCT too but it was really good. Some of it was a repetition but it was good to hear from and meet the midwives and got to look around the birth centre and delivery suite. It was so quiet almost all the rooms were empty and the midwives were just standing around chatting! I hope it's like that when I got into labour.

Got my 34 week appointment this afternoon and last NCT class before birth this evening. Can't believe its 6 week until due date!!!

Southy84 · 21/03/2016 10:27

That's what I keep telling myself frozen I will be 37 weeks when mat leave starts. If I make it that long. 32 weeks today, it's crazy how quick time is going, I thought 8 weeks was bad enough, can't believe you only have 6 left now!

That's good to know about the antenatal class, dh and I are booked on for the 20th April, dh isn't keen on the idea- think he's worried about audience participation!

Hope your appointment goes well today Smile

frozensmoothie · 21/03/2016 15:38

I'll be 37 weeks when mat leave starts too Southy I was originally going to go at 36 weeks but I think I'll be alright to stay an extra week and have that time at the end instead.

Luckily there wasn't too much audience participation at my antenatal class. We had to do some group discussions and go around in the circle and say things like name one thing you'd take in your hospital bag etc... I'd heard that in some you have to do role plays but thankfully there was none of that!!

My appointment went well although she thinks baby may be breech. If she's still breech at my next appointment in 2 weeks I'll be sent for an extra scan to double check before deciding on an plan of action!

Southy84 · 21/03/2016 17:19

Yes I'm thinking the same frozen Id rather have more time at the end. Not long left for you at all Smile how exciting! That's really nice to know that there wasn't too much audience participation, hopefully ours will be the same! Oh no hopefully baby will move soon, mines always been head down since very early, I think it's too lazy to turn around haha. It will be nice to have another scan if they do need to check baby's position, but hopefully baby will move. sorry I can't remember, do you know what you are having?

Nicky333 · 21/03/2016 18:27

We had our first NCT class last week and the only audience participation was right at the start, where the men had to say their name and why they were there and the women had to say one thing they knew about their baby.

GunShotResidue · 21/03/2016 20:15

Had lots of visitors this weekend, just caught up with the thread :)

I hadn't really thought about DD seeing baby first. Although we live a few hours away from our families so she'll probably meet him first anyway, along with MIL who will hopefully be looking after her. I'm very lucky, I get on very well with most of my in laws!

Hope your weekend got better ODog

ODog · 21/03/2016 20:19

Sorry you are feeling uncomfortable southy. It's tough going this last stretch huh? Feels like we have come so far but still a long way to go.

There is plenty of time for baby to move frozen. Is it your first baby? I think they can take longer to get in position. DS didn't engage until I was in established labour whereas I think this one has popped in and out a couple of times already and has been head down for a while.

They scan at 36 wks as routine here now anyway so they can check baby's position and check on the cord/placenta/fluid levels etc in case there might be a need for early delivery.

Think I have a cold coming which sucks as I have mostly avoided them all winter (by some miracle living with a toddler and a school
Teacher!). Will be majorly annoyed if I get one at this late stage. So horrible during pregnancy as I normally dose myself right up with lemsips etc. Angry

ParsnipSoup · 21/03/2016 21:26

Ergh, I've had such a rotten weekend. Went to visit DPs sister, had a lovely Saturday and then woke up at 4am Sunday throwing up. I had such bad D&V that we had to stay an extra night in our hotel and now even though I'm home I feel rubbish.

frozensmoothie · 21/03/2016 21:57

Thanks Southy were having a girl Smile

Yeah its my first Odog I would quite like to have an extra scan at this late stage! Midwife didn't seem entirely sure if she was breech or not. Initially she said head down but then she couldn't find the heartbeat on the doppler until she put it high up on the bump and then re-palpated and said breech. We'll see what happens in 2 weeks!

Sorry to hear youve been ill parsnip

Had final NCT class tonight. One of the couples didn't turn up as they'd already had their baby. Her waters broke at 36+5 Shock. It will be weird seeing everyone next time with our babies in tow. I'm starting to freak out a bit now!!

GrouchyKiwi · 21/03/2016 22:18

Flowers for those who had difficult weekends.

frozen DD1 was transverse at 37 weeks (which would have meant a C-section) but decided to move to head down the day before we had an ECV booked in. There's plenty of time left.

Hope you feel better soon, Parsnip.

Is anyone else in Scotland and planning to vote? DH and I have decided to do postal ballots so we're getting those sorted at the moment. The baby isn't due till 24 May, and the election is on 5 May, but I don't really want to be worrying about getting myself to the polling station with two small children in tow, and me waddling like the world's fattest duck. If I can walk at all, that is!

The osteopathy seems to be helping with the SPD, which is great. So I recommend it if anyone else has the problem.

Everythinggettingbigger · 23/03/2016 13:23

Hope everyone is having a better week than their weekends!

Baby is also currently breech, we went from being 3 5ths engaged at 28 weeks to now breech at 31 weeks. Had a scan to confirm this. Had my 31 week midwife app on Monday but it wasn't my usual midwife so didn't really want to ask her all the questions I had so looking forward to my 34 week app so find out what the plan of action will be if he's still breech as they were hoping to start doing sweeps etc from 36 weeks. DS1 was engaged from 32 weeks and stayed there!

ODog I wouldn't be surprised if my whole in law family were waiting in the café but good luck to them, this hospital is very strict and wont be letting anyone else in so its completely pointless for them!

Grouchy I will actually be counting the votes! ive done it for about 6 years now, strangely the first time I did it I was pregnant too, but was only a few months, its going to be tough this time round being 37 weeks! Im really dreading it but if I say no this year we don't get asked back again and we could really do with the extra money as my last proper pay day is mid april! We have to be there for 9.30pm on the Thursday night, be there until 5am the earliest and then back again at 9am.

at what point is everybody finishing work? I was originally meant to be working until 29th April then 2 weeks annual leave, im now finishing 15th April (then 9 days annual leave so official date is 28th) I will be 36+3 when my official date starts, so glad I changed it, I have to stop myself falling asleep at my desk everyday!

Everythinggettingbigger · 23/03/2016 13:24

whats the difference of transverse and breech? ive heard them both mentioned lately but no idea! probably should just google!

GrouchyKiwi · 23/03/2016 13:29

Transverse is lying across the bump, so head at one side, legs/feet at the other. It's more comfortable than feet in ribs, but obviously makes birth impossible!

Everything It must be kind of exciting to count the votes! Hope it isn't too tough on you.

OP posts:
ODog · 23/03/2016 13:35

How come they want to start sweeps at 36wks everything? I don't think they do that until you are at your due date in my area.

I have my 34wk appt tomorrow need to start prepping DS for that so he doesn't freak out again . Hoping to ask some questions about how to make sure some of my birth preferences are listened to. Few things I want that aren't 'standard' eg delayed cord clamping and completely uninterrupted s2s for at least an hour (ie not lifting baby to be weighed, checked in non urgent situations etc.) and I want to make sure they happen where possible and don't trust that either myself or DH will be in the frame of mind to think about it at the time.

Anyone got any natural cold remedies! DS and I both have one and honey and lemon isn't cutting it for me. Got some Vicks rub yesterday which helps a bit but I don't think there are many cold remedies you can take with pregnant.

GrouchyKiwi · 23/03/2016 14:53

ODog I wonder if they can put your preferences into your notes. Otherwise I guess handing over a piece of paper with your needs might do it?

I found this from an account I follow on Twitter: cold remedies. Not sure how much use it will be but there are lots of options! I do know that garlic and ginger are really good. I like to make a tea of lemon, ginger and honey when I have a cold. It helps me feel better. Hope you recover soon. Smile

Oh, and put the Vicks on the soles of your feet!

Nicky333 · 23/03/2016 17:40

I had my 31 week appointment today and we've been referred for a growth scan. It was two different people measuring me on the two appointments and I've also had a stinker of a cold meaning I've lost some weight so it might not be anything.

They had a cancellation at the hospital so it's tomorrow morning.

ODog · 23/03/2016 19:02

Hope the scan goes ok nicky. Tape measurements are notoriously inaccurate so I'm sure it will all be fine.

DH finally home in time to put DS to bed so I'm sitting about doing nothing and loving it!

Everythinggettingbigger · 23/03/2016 21:05

It is kind of exciting but my God it gets boring, a lot of waiting around!

My first DS got stuck and was a forceps delivery and he was only 6lb 11oz so midwife said likely hood is I will have problems with a baby that's bigger than this so granted everything seems fine to try and get him moving a little earlier!

Good luck with the scan hope all goes well!

Currently sitting on the end of DS's bed waiting for him to fall asleep! My back is broke! He's such a pain when it comes to sleeping!

ParsnipSoup · 23/03/2016 22:52

I feel (mostly) human again! Having a tummy bug while pregnant is the pits, I have a new found massive respect for people with hyperemesis. On the down side I've looked in the mirror today and convinced myself I have lots of fine stretch marks. Boooo!

Nicky good luck at your scan tomorrow. Hopefully it was just different people
measuring slightly differently.

Everything I'm stopping working on the 22nd April, but am officially on annual leave until May 1st. Already feeling quite big and slow. Worryingly 7 of my shifts are nightshifts.... Not looking forward to them.

ODog I can't offer any cold remedies except being looked after and resting. Hope you feel better soon.

Everythinggettingbigger · 24/03/2016 12:19

is the scan today Nicky

Oh god, I feel terrible for moaning now Parsnip....night shifts while heavily pregnant must be horrific!

Anyone else seem to be suffering with a sore throat lately?

just worked out I have 11 days left actually in work! (spread over 3 weeks!) The countdown is on ladies not long to go for us all!

How are you feeling today ODog

frozensmoothie · 24/03/2016 13:15

Hope your scan today goes well Nicky let us know how you get on.

Hope you feel better soon ODog nothing worse than being ill and heavily pregnant.

Full of admiration for you still doing night shifts Parsnip

I decided to stay an extra week at work in the end so have 9 working days left. I'll be 36+5 on my last day. My maternity cover starts on Tuesday so frantically trying to finish things off, pack things up, clean up my desk and get ready to start doing training/handover next week.
