thread #2 - TTC#1 Grads, sick bags at the ready!

Runner05 · 27/01/2016 15:07

We've finally got our BFPs and have started on the long winding road of pregnancy.

Most of us are starting, within, or just leaving the first trimester where bloating, unexplained discharge and constant nausea are watchwords of the day!

We're battling NHS inconsistencies, trying not to kill our midwives and desperately looking for a magic morning sickness cure... It's TTC#1 grads!!!

Bloody hell miley!! Welling up at my desk and might need to do an emergency tea run to shake off a sob-a-thon. That's so lovely. Sniffle

Co5mo · 19/02/2016 11:44

Oh Miley you've just induced my second hormonal cry. Normally something like that wouldn't affect me.

Mileymoocow · 19/02/2016 11:57

I maybe should have said do not read at work, sorry planet! Hope your tea run worked.

I'm similar co5mo, I very rarely cry. My OH cried when we got our BFP and he thought I wasn't chuffed because I didn't. I grinned like a Cheshire cat for about 3 weeks until sickness kicked in. I've never cried at a film, either. Not because I don't find things sad/overwhelmingly happy, I'm just not a crier. Until now.

Planeteer · 19/02/2016 12:11

Haha don't worry, you did warn that crying was possible Miley. I'm prone to a bit of face leaking at sappy films and sometimes adverts normally, so am quite surprised not to have been reduced to a sobbing wreck at the drop of a hat!

Definitely finding emotions are closer to the surface though, and stuff that wouldn't normally make me anxious is giving me jitters. Ah hormones, how we love thee!

LillianFullStop · 19/02/2016 12:47

Oh the emotions are def high! Cried at the theatre, super sweet on my DH and going on a rage rampage in the office - I am all over the place!

Had a little cry last night because it finally hit DH about my pg - he came home and wanted to talk to my belly saying - 'hello my child I can't wait to meet you my child'. He didn't want to get too excited right away as we had a mmc at 10 weeks last year so extra cautious.

BunchOfBobs · 19/02/2016 13:07

I've started crying at really random times. Finally finished the kitchen yesterday and I was setting it all up, had a look around and finally felt "ahh at last this house is my home"
And promptly burst into tears!! . I'm watching "Tina Malone:Pregnant at 50" and the moment where they found out the sex of their baby I was blubbing.

IndiX · 19/02/2016 14:07

Aww Miley that was lovely.
I can be a crier especially before AF but recently I've cried becuase DH did something nice can't remember what so obviously not that great and I started crying becuase I loved him so much. I've cried a couple of times because I feel fat too. Oh hormones....
How are you ladies today? I had a super queasy day yesterday and found that fizzy water and sugar free ginger beer helped a bit. I wasn't sick but felt like I needed to burp a lot which was causing the nauseous feeling so a bit of fizzy water did the trick for a short time. I went the gym today, boobs are KILLING me as they are so heavy and huge and my sports bras are just not working how they should be but apart from that I made it through without being sick, which I was quite proud of!
So excited so many of us are on to the scan stage or coming up to it, I'm looking forward to my 1st midwife appt on Tuesday.
Does anyone else feel like it's not real atm? Like you just feel crappy everyday without actually seeing or feeling anything positive from it? My mum said I'll feel better when I get my scans and start seeing a bump but that is soooo far away!

LaraG13 · 19/02/2016 14:28

Hi ladies! I've decided to come on over from the TTC1 thread! Got my BFP 2 days ago but still feel like it's not real, or that I'm going to lose it before it gets going so don't want to get excited. Had a skim through this thread and looks like I'm in for a fun time! 😄 Nice to read how you're all doing since you graduated!

I think I'm 4+2 so it's extremely early. So far I have sore boobs and wind!

BunchOfBobs · 19/02/2016 14:32

Congrats Lara and welcome to the grads thread. The wind is here for the long haul I'm afraid, that and bloating. Fingers crossed you join the lucky few of us Nev, Mor and myself, who have managed to escape morning sickness. It takes a while for it to sink in. I still randomly keep saying to DH "I'm pregnant!" And I'm 14+6!

Planeteer · 19/02/2016 16:16

Welcome Lara, lovely to see you here!

I just turned my head fast to answer a colleague and it felt like my brain took longer to move with it, if that makes sense. Super dizzy and queasy now, and wondering if this is the start of the big nausea. Urgh.

LaraG13 · 19/02/2016 17:37

Hi planet and bunch! And thanks!

I can't believe you're that far gone now bunch! Amazing. Fx I'll be in your no morning sickness club!

Runner05 · 19/02/2016 18:00

Congrats Lara welcome Grin

I truly hope you skip morning sickness but just in case go to the supermarket right now and stuff yourself silly on all your favourite foods! If you do get the dreaded morning sickness or even the milder version it will be a while before you enjoy food again I miss loving food so much sob also, I recommend getting yourself some sea bands, they're cheap and help with mild nausea.

Miley that was really sweet Smile

I think I've been lucky on the hormone front. I've cried a couple of times but not really over nothing mostly when I've been hangry and I haven't really lost my temper which is good.

Sickness is nearly all good, I've actually been able to cook for everyone today (Yay!) I still have a little low level nausea and the bloating is driving me nuts! I can tell that my tummy is squished because I can only eat about half of what I used to but I get hungry about every 2 hours and I'm really tired all the time. I'm dreading going to work on Monday, I'm going to be spending most of the day either in the shop buying snacks, going for wees or falling asleep at my desk. Not sure how I'll get anything done! Still only 6 months until maternity leave ShockGrin

Welcome Lara nice to see you here!!

LaraG13 · 19/02/2016 18:14

Thanks runner and lillian!

I'm going to take your advice runner and eat my favorite things this weekend (except rare steak 😞). Have you had really bad sickness? Those who've had it, when did it start and end?

Did anyone else keep doing IC tests after their BFP?

Runner05 · 19/02/2016 18:41

Hi Lara I've been signed of for 7 weeks with sever morning sickness. It started out just before 6 weeks with very mild nausea that went away with the use of sea bands and constant smacking. It then became increasingly sever nausea literally 24/7 (the only time I didn't feel sick was when I was asleep) luckily I wasn't being sick much to start with but in the last couple of weeks of sickness I started vomiting nearly every time I ate. I felt extremely sorry for myself but it started easing just before 12 weeks. I'm 13 weeks tomorrow and I'm now back to very low level nausea that gets worse if I don't eat regularly or eat too much.
I shouldn't worry too much though. My dr said that I was verging on HG (the really bad version of morning sickness) which wasn't surprising as it runs in my family but is fairly rare. A couple of the other girls have also had fairly bad morning sickness but I think most have either skipped it or had morning sickness that only lasted part of the day.

I think most of us kept testing for a couple of weeks... It's an addiction, you get over it eventually Wink

IrregularCommentary · 19/02/2016 18:42

Hi Lara!

I'm 6+4 atm and have been very lucky so for with sickness. Have felt a bit hangovery a few times and retched a bit when brushing my teeth, but seem to be coming off fairly lightly so far. My Mum didn't have bad symptoms apparently so hopefully I have lucky genes. Poor Miley sounds like she's getting it for both of us atm!

Don't worry about extended poas. Instead have done 3 or 4 in the 10 days after my bfp just to check I still was!

For those saying it doesn't feel real yet, totally agree. I don't even have my booking appointment for another 10 days yet. I've got sore boobs, I'm gassy, bloated and tired, but other than that there's not really any difference. Makes it hard to believe there's something as big a deal as an actual fucking baby in there!!

IrregularCommentary · 19/02/2016 18:44

Instead have done?! Think that was supposed to say I must have done...

Pinklily1 · 19/02/2016 18:46

Welcome Lara, exciting news!

My nausea/ sickness started just before 6 weeks. I had to have 3 weeks off work but am back now. I'm 12 weeks today and I still have daily nausea but it's not as bad as it was before. I think it really is pot luck as to whether you get it or not, fingers crossed you escape it!

Mileymoocow · 19/02/2016 19:06

lara I think I did 7 proper tests and a gazillion ic's Grin can I just say I agree with runner and please eat what you like! I'm living off dry bread/weetabix/ryvita at the moment and feel like I'll never enjoy food again for fear of it turning into projectile vomit or exiting through my nostrils! Also, rare steak will be a massive miss for me, too.

irregular pleased I've got your share matey 😂 I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy.

LaraG13 · 19/02/2016 21:44

Hi all and thank you for the lovely welcome! Oh my god this sickness sounds horrific! Sorry you've suffered so badly runner, miley and pink. Irregular, I'm glad you haven't suffered too badly. My mum and sister both had nausea for a few weeks and struggled to eat, but no actual vomiting, so we'll see!

Oh I'm glad lots of you carried on POAS! I just ordered more ICs and don't feel like stopping any time soon 😄

Mileymoocow · 20/02/2016 07:13

Thanks lara! Smile

Morning everyone. Been up since 5am with the dreaded sickness and still haven't managed to find anything that helps. I've decided hibernation until 12 weeks is the only way to survive

Yvonne1986 · 20/02/2016 07:41

Welcome Lara I'm 4+2 today too I had to POAS again this morning as it still doesn't feel real!

Hope everyone has a lovely relaxing weekend and those with sickness are beginning to feel better.

Since I've had my BFP I just can't seem to sleep well at all I wake so much either for a wee or having random dreams I'm hoping once my BFP sinks in I will start sleeping again! Xx

Runner05 · 20/02/2016 08:24

Aww Miley you have my sympathies. In the end I had no choice but to hibernate so it's not the silly suggestion you might think.

I know it's awful and feels like you're never going to be able to function again (towards 10 weeks I think I really was starting to get very depressed) but it does end and shockingly when it does you quickly forget how retched it felt. There's light at the end of the tunnel, I promise!!!

Morning ladies!

Welcome Lara.

Oh miley I do feel for you - are you keeping fluids down? If not might be time for a trip to the docs?

Had scan yesterday! It was amazing! but I'm nearly a week further ahead than I thought at 12+6! OH won't let me put the picture on here (ie an open forum) I'm so sorry ladies, he's not budging though. Anyone who wants to see it id happily pm as you've shared with me.

We did have the nuchal fold test and await the proper results - but I heard the guy say '1.6 mm'. Anyone know what there's was or if thats good?

X

Co5mo · 20/02/2016 09:20

Morning all. Welcome Lara ☺

Shelb the neucal fold grows with the baby so I think I depends on how big the baby is but 1.6mm is sounds at the low risk end of the scale to me.
