thread #2 - TTC#1 Grads, sick bags at the ready!

We've finally got our BFPs and have started on the long winding road of pregnancy.

Most of us are starting, within, or just leaving the first trimester where bloating, unexplained discharge and constant nausea are watchwords of the day!

We're battling NHS inconsistencies, trying not to kill our midwives and desperately looking for a magic morning sickness cure... It's TTC#1 grads!!!

Ok, thanks Bunch.

I'm hoping they organised them together to make it easier for me. Fingers crossed they're not acting independently as they're both really important (given a blood disorder I have).

Runner05 · 17/02/2016 17:07

My appointment was 20 minutes late and then it took quite a while to get the measurements they needed because Potato refused to stop laying on his tummy.
They did take bloods immediately after though and had their own nurse on hand to do it.

If the meeting with the blood specialist is separate but in the same building you'll probably be ok with an hour though.

Thanks for the lovely welcome!

We have just told dp's Dad he is going to be a Grandad he was so happy he cried!!! We were adamant we weren't telling anyone before scan but then literally blurted it out Shock has anyone else told people before the scan I feel like I've broken the first rule of pregnancy!!!

I'll be thirty when I give birth I agree I don't think there is a perfect age people will always have there own opinions! Xxx

LisaTheGreek · 17/02/2016 19:16

Thanks Runner, that's really useful. I'm going to investigate if it's different departments in one building or different buildings.

Laurenrl · 17/02/2016 19:34

Anyone got any ideas on the constant dead leg? Is it a pregnancy thing that anyone knows of?

BunchOfBobs · 17/02/2016 19:50

Sorry Lauren you got missed in the welcome party.
I've not heard of it before. Have you tried changing how you're sitting?

Yvonne we told both our families about 1-2 weeks after we found out mainly due to me not drinking and it being very obvious but it's definitely nice having people to talk to about it.

Runner have you decided how you're going to to the big reveal tomorrow? How old are they?

IndiX · 17/02/2016 20:00

Yvonne we've told immediate family and 3 close friends. Feels like we've told loads of people but I feel pretty positive and I've always said touch wood if anything bad were to happen I would want support of those nearest to me anyway.

Mileymoocow · 17/02/2016 20:06

Who ever recommended peppermint tea... Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! You've saved my sanity ❤

Mileymoocow · 17/02/2016 20:08

yvonne we haven't told a sole except my boss/nurse and doctor at work and that's only because I work in a laboratory! We're telling our parents on mothers day and everyone else at the beginning of april

Danni89 · 17/02/2016 20:17

Ha ha Miley that was me! It saved my life too!

Yvonne1986 · 17/02/2016 20:29

It's so amazing telling people it makes it seem so much more real! That's what I thought Indix I share everything with my closest family so would always want to be able to talk to them about everything!
*
Lauren* how far along are you? I'm sure I've heard it can maybe be caused by trapped nerves xx

Runner05 · 17/02/2016 20:30

No idea about the dead leg Lauren sorry.

Bunch literally no clue how to tell the kids. The girl is 8, I think she'll be happy to be a big sister. The boy is 12 I think he'll be horrified as he's planning to come and live at the new house with us.
Possible tears before bedtime lol

Just went out for a Chinese buffet... Had about a third of what I normally would (if that). Was nice to get out and be able to eat normal food again... May regret it later though lol

Welcome Yvonne! I am 11+5 with my first and I'm 33.

Miley~ so sorry you are feeling so bad. Can you get yourself signed off sick for a bit? Not something I have ever done before but getting a sick note when I had my early morning sickness was like a weight lifted off me, knowing I didn't have to try to struggle to work too.

I have been feeling better over the last few days but today hasn't been so good - feeling really nauseous Confused

Pinklily1 · 17/02/2016 20:47

I missed loss of posts, sorry!

Runner, are you feeling better now then, even a bit?

Lauren, I don't know about the dead leg either. Maybe ask at your next midwife appointment or make a doctors appointment if it is bothering you.

I'm struggling to stay awake past 8.30pm at the minute, tonight is a wild night staying up this late Grin

Runner05 · 17/02/2016 21:47

Pink yeh, I'm feeling a lot better just the past day. Not perfect. I feel really over full all the time and the weird something in my throat feeling is constant (I think it's just gas pushing on a valve in my throat) but I'm able to do stuff if I don't over do it Smile

Pinklily1 · 18/02/2016 07:25

That's brilliant Runner. I'm hoping that slowly and surely we will both start feeling much better!

How is everyone else this morning?

I'm 12 weeks tomorrow and can't wait to hit that milestone Grin

LisaTheGreek · 18/02/2016 07:57

Pink, that's so exciting! I'm still five weeks off that, and it feels like such a long way.

How have you been feeling these past few weeks? Have things got better?

shelbTa · 18/02/2016 08:09

Morning,

Great news you seem to be at the end of it runner. Here have some cake! CakeI think I am too.

Awesome pink - I'm 12 weeks on Saturday! Milestone!

Not so great - went to bed last night with a blinding headache which woke me up at about 4am. Also got bleeding gums!

X

Pinklily1 · 18/02/2016 08:20

lisa, I have been feeling much better thanks. I still get nausea every day and was sick this morning but it's nowhere near as bad as it has been,so I'm taking that as a positive! How's your sickness?

I do feel like the weeks go by much slower when you are pregnant Hmm

Shelb, I have bleeding gums too. Did you get your certificate for free dental check ups from the midwife?

Runner05 · 18/02/2016 08:24

Yay! To all of us starting to feel better. Although I woke up with a terrible tummy ache. I think it's my muscles going though a stretch again with the added bonus of the ultrasound bruise Hmm hopefully will ease through the day.

So today's the day we tell the kids and the world!! I'm a bit nervous and so is OH. We're worried that the oldest is going to be really unhappy about. Fingers crossed we're worrying for nothing Confused

Chocaholic88 · 18/02/2016 08:54

Morning everyone! How are we all feeling?

Sorry I've been off the map with the photo shoots for work. Any news?

I had some horrible news last night. A dear friend of mine had her 20 week scan yesterday and they found no heartbeat. I'm absolutely heartbroken for her and just didn't know what to say :( they are taking her into hospital tomorrow to induce her. I spent half of last night in tears to my OH, a mix of upset for her and sheer horror at something happening so close to home...

Maybe it's just me but I disn't worry about anything that far along (and I already have two kids!)

Talking of them, off for an emergency blood test tomorrow as both kids have slapped cheek and they need to test my immunity- it can be super dangerous for pregnant women... never a dull moment!

Yvonne1986 · 18/02/2016 08:54

Good luck telling the kids today Runner FX they are both just really excited! It will be lovely being able to tell the rest of the world too xx

Mileymoocow · 18/02/2016 09:41

Peppermint tea lasted all of 2 teabags. Had a cup this morning and threw it back up. I'm back at work today which I'm not really too happy about but I have a deadline for some work and will feel guilty if I leave it to someone else.

runner how exciting. Good luck telling everyone
choc that's awful, your poor poor friend! Sad my friend lost her baby at 27 weeks. I was absolutely heartbroken for her

IndiX · 18/02/2016 10:10

Runner good luck for telling everyone!
Choc that's such sad news, I too wouldn't really think about it that far on. Your poor friend Sad
I'm 6+2 today, been feeling queasy for the last couple of days. thinking about eating certain foods or having my usual breakfast smoothie is making me feel sick. I really thought I'd gotten away with any nausea but obviously not. Feeling a bit sorry for myself but going to go on a big dog walk with my mum and get some fresh air.
