thread #2 - TTC#1 Grads, sick bags at the ready!

Runner05 · 27/01/2016 15:07

We've finally got our BFPs and have started on the long winding road of pregnancy.

Most of us are starting, within, or just leaving the first trimester where bloating, unexplained discharge and constant nausea are watchwords of the day!

We're battling NHS inconsistencies, trying not to kill our midwives and desperately looking for a magic morning sickness cure... It's TTC#1 grads!!!

Runner, how exciting! What a great picture!

I love the jazz piano analogy!

Hope the fibroid is ok. I'd never heard of anything like that. Fingers crossed it doesn't cause any problems x

BunchOfBobs · 16/02/2016 14:12

Oh Runner amazing picture, I'm loving the piano playing! Only one woohoo. How did your dates work out? Fx the fibroid causes no issues.

IndiX · 16/02/2016 14:15

Great news with the scans Mor, runner and bunch! And love your jazz piano playing baby runner!

Morwenna1 · 16/02/2016 14:16

Wow, brilliant little musician in there Runner! Glad all is well with the baby Smile See my previous post about waiting for test results, I've rung after a week and got the answers rather than waiting 2 weeks for a letter. That's good they've picked up the fibroid and can monitor things for you, although I'm sure it's nothing to be concerned about.

Bunch that result was for Patau's and Edwards, I'm

shelbTa · 16/02/2016 14:26

Haha, amazing picture Runner! Glad it went well, excluding fibroid xx

BunchOfBobs · 16/02/2016 14:28

Mini landmark days are Saturday's for me. Despite me always reading ahead what's coming up in such a week I always love the "oooh this week such and such is occurring". Each week seems to go quite fast but the time between midwife/scan appointments is dragging. Anyone else finding this? I have my next midwife appointment a week Thursday then another 3.5 weeks for the next scan.

Both excellent results Mor. I'm still baffled I don't have an actual figure for P and E but as they said nowt to worry about.

I'm loving the energy of the second trimester but I'm in dire need of a full nights sleep. I've had one since week 5 ish. Tonight is the first night of dog eviction to see if the lack of his snoring helps. I've also changed my pillows around so instead of having a u shaped pillow I have my normal pillow and a sausage to cuddle. That way DH can spoon me like I'm used to. I intend to have 1 full nights sleep tonight!! Cleaning the entire house today should help too.
Anyone else still struggling with sleep?

Danni89 · 16/02/2016 14:31

Lovely lil piano player you got there runner, glad all went well aside from the fibroid

Runner05 · 16/02/2016 14:34

My dates were spot on Mor (13+3) which I feel a bit smug about as I fiddled my LMP date. I knew from my opk that I ovulate way earlier than the average so I worked out what day would have been day 1 if I was average and gave that instead of my actual day 1 which was about a week later... I love being right Wink

It did remind me though that those of you worrying about getting morning sickness early/late shouldn't as you may be further along or not depending on when you ovulated.

Right, off to google fibroids to death Confused

Hope your grandad is ok miley sore you're having a rough time.

Your little one looks perfect runner!! how far along are you? You must be so happy to have a photo of the little one :)

I'm only 5+4 and it feels like it's dragging on. I'm checking Ovia everyday in case one day it goes from 5+4 to 11+2 overnight.

I'm thinking of joining NCT too as I'm new to this area and it would be good to meet other local mums-to-be.

Laurenrl · 16/02/2016 14:50

Amazing runner! What a cute little pic!!
I'm so jealous as I have almost 5 weeks to wait for mine hehe x

Jealous about NCT too as I'll be moving about 200 miles month before the baby's born so I'll need to meet people later!

Morwenna1 · 16/02/2016 15:02

Love it Bunch Dog eviction night! Hope you can get some sleep. I've been ok except for a few nights taking a while to comfortable.

Do you know much about NCT Lillian Do they have regular meet ups, and I guess you need to become a member to go along? I thought it was free to begin with, and then I realised they charged! I was auto enrolled on a course after the one I've booked, found out it was an extra £75 and had to opt out to get off it! I don't like things like that when they assume.

Is anyone in the sensitive situation of telling people who you know are either TTC or one partner wants to and the other one doesn't? Just wondering what the most tactful way would be to go about doing this. I'm talking close friends, so will have to be a phonecall.

Morwenna1 · 16/02/2016 15:03

That's great you're spot on with dates Runner! Was a bit of a shock to find out I'd gained 4 days at my scan Smile

DrWhy · 16/02/2016 15:03

Runner your scan looks fab!
I had an early scan last week to stop me stressing and they also found a large fibroid (and an ovarian cyst) the sonographer seemed to think it wouldn't be an issue but I made the mistake of googling - do not Google this!!! I'll see what the NHS say, they've actually come through with a scan date before DH leaves.
I'm going to take a bit of a break from this thread I'm afraid. We've had some very bad news regarding my dad and I don't have enough emotional energy to deal with everything, reading too much Mumsnet is making me massively stress about the pregnancy on top. I'm also an emetaphobe and with so many people suffering sickness the descriptions are getting a bit much for me.
Hopefully be back at some stage.

Planeteer · 16/02/2016 15:05

Runner, Potato is already a) adorable and b) musically gifted. Great work!

Happy to see low risk results coming in for 2nd trimester ladies, and Lisa and Miley I really hope the sickness eases for you soon.

Can some of you wise ladies give me a hand with dates? I've got myself confused after a docs appt. Apologies in advance if this is a small essay.

Post pill cycles v long (90+ days), so LMP not since November and therefore no help with calculation. I tested on 1st Feb with an IC and got a BFN, then with a FRER on 9/2 and got an immediate and v dark positive. Followed that up with a CB digi and got 3+ weeks. So my question is, where does that 3+ weeks calculate from? In the instructions it says gp will likely date you 5+ weeks if you get that reading, but I don't know how reliable that is...

My dr really wasn't sure how to go about calculating the date, but decided to take it from some v light spotting I had about 10 days before the BFP. By her calculations this would only just make me 3 weeks, but I feel pretty sure I'm a fair bit more than that, given DTD dates. She wants me to wait until mid March before coming back in for a midwife referral, and I'll then have to wait a further few weeks before I get a booking in appt. Feeling v nervous about leaving it that late, but don't want to risk booking an earlier gp appointment and getting sent away.

Any thoughts welcome, and sorry this is a bit garbled! Virtual biscuits for anyone still reading! Biscuit

Planeteer · 16/02/2016 15:07

DrWhy so sorry to hear you've had bad news. Take care of yourself and pop back when you're ready x Flowers

Runner05 · 16/02/2016 15:42

Sorry to hear you're not having the best time Dr, I know what it's like to have bad news regarding family, it can just push you over the edge. Hopefully you'll come back and let us know how you're doing soon.

Also, please don't worry about your fibroid. At this point it's very unlikely to do any harm to the baby. It might make you a little uncomfortable later in pregnancy but it's unlikely to do much else. I've read up on it quite a bit now and as long as your being monitored the likelihood is it will make no difference at all. Mine is massive (about 11cm square Shock) but even that appears to be no more than an inconvenience. Thanks

LisaTheGreek · 16/02/2016 16:18

Sorry, DrWhy. Hope to see you soon Flowers

Pinklily1 · 16/02/2016 17:18

Sorry to hear that Dr Thanks

Good news about the test results Mor and Bunch

Runner, that's a brilliant photo! And woo hoo for there only being one in there. Will they remove the fibroid post baby?

Our scan is a week today - I can't wait.

Sorry to hear a few more of us are getting hit with the dreaded sickness. I have found that cereal doesn't sit well with me at all, not sure if it's the milk on it. Bagels are my current best friend in the morning.

IrregularCommentary · 16/02/2016 17:23

Regarding NCT courses, my best friend had her first child last year (the first of us to do it) and she says she regrets not doing one as she met loads of Mums at baby classes who still met up with people they met through NCT. I think I'll do one for that reason.

LisaTheGreek · 16/02/2016 17:56

Pink, thanks for the bagel advice. Good point about the milk - probably best to stick to dry stuff. I will try a bagel with marmite tomorrow morning!

My friend (who has a one year old son) told me that she really valued the NCT classes. But they are expensive. It's a charity and not part of the NHS, so from what I understand midwives will recommend it but don't actually have anything to do with it.

So it's up to us to sign up (and pay) if we want to go. I guess it is Google-able online for local classes.

Mileymoocow · 16/02/2016 18:32

My grandad is home Smile I picked him up around lunchtime then spent the rest if my afternoon in bed. I've managed to keep the vomiting to only twice but I've felt nauseous all day!

runner that is super sweet! Flowers you must be a proud moma

Mileymoocow · 16/02/2016 18:35

drwhy please look after yourself. Hopefully we'll see you around here soon Flowers

planet I really wish I could help! That is incredibly confusing. Is there no way you could maybe have an early scan from your estimated dates (think a dating scan is from 9 weeks) and see what they make of it there? I know it's such a long wait

Mileymoocow · 16/02/2016 18:37

Also, I'm not sure it's possible to get af 10 days before your bfp? Unless you have ridiculously short cycles. I'd say it was more likely to be implantation bleeding? Which happens at about 8/9dpo...

Pinklily1 · 16/02/2016 19:02

Marmite would send me over the edge at the best of times!!

Planeteer · 16/02/2016 19:10

Thanks miley, and glad to hear your grandad is home! Might try for a gp appt end of next week and if no joy then sink the £99 for an early scan. Time has seriously never moved so slowly!!
