thread #2 - TTC#1 Grads, sick bags at the ready!

Runner05 · 27/01/2016 15:07

We've finally got our BFPs and have started on the long winding road of pregnancy.

Most of us are starting, within, or just leaving the first trimester where bloating, unexplained discharge and constant nausea are watchwords of the day!

We're battling NHS inconsistencies, trying not to kill our midwives and desperately looking for a magic morning sickness cure... It's TTC#1 grads!!!

Pink apparently the fibroid is completely harmless so they don't usually get rid of them, plus they usually disappear on their own as you get older.

Miley glad your grandad is home Smile

Feeling a bit lost now. I've had the scan as a goal for so long and now I have to wait until Thursday night to tell everyone. What the heck am I going to do for the next two days? Confused

Pinklily1 · 16/02/2016 19:55

Runner, why do you have to wait? Sorry if I've missed that!

Newmrs22 · 16/02/2016 19:55

Congrats Runner potato looks adorable already!

planeteer I had a similar thing. In the end the GP went with my LMP date, which meant my scan was too early. I don't think there's an ideal way really. It's annoying.

Runner05 · 16/02/2016 20:59

Pink because we have the step troubles on Thursdays so we're going to wait until then to tell them. After that we can tell everyone else Smile

Uhhh - try and go to sleep thirsty or down some water and be up peeing all night!!

X

Runner05 · 16/02/2016 21:19

Have the water, you'll be peeing anyway Wink

Shelb, I share your dilemma and second Runner's suggestion. I'm resigned to night time weeing now Angry

LisaTheGreek · 16/02/2016 21:36

Sigh. I figured if I stopped liquids by 8-9pm I wouldn't be up in the night so much.

Are you telling me that won't work? Sad

Runner05 · 16/02/2016 21:43

Sorry Lisa there is no avoiding the weeing. I can literally go for another wee 20 minutes after my last one even if I haven't had a drink for ages. I feel like one of those joke magic tricks Confused

OP posts:
Co5mo · 17/02/2016 06:36

Lisa I've managed to cut out the night time wee for the moment by having my last drink earlier and double voiding just before bed but then I'm only 5+6 so that's likely to change.

Newmrs22 · 17/02/2016 07:09

The good pee news is that I've found second trimester weeing has slowed down! I think it's because the wombs moved off the bladder. It will come back once baby is bigger though

LillianFullStop · 17/02/2016 07:26

I haven't noticed excessive peeing yet but then I'm only 5+5 (based on LMP) - I have a 33 day cycle so I'm betting I'm actually only 4 :/ the days go by so slowly!!!

Pinklily1 · 17/02/2016 07:34

Morning ladies

My night time peeling is averaging 2-3 times a night at the minute.

Random question, but is anyone still sleeping on their front? I always used to but now find it uncomfortable because of the bloating and it makes me feel more sick. I'm struggling to sleep through the night in other positions so it is frustrating!

Laurenrl · 17/02/2016 07:42

Morning

Pink I sleep on my front and hate sleeping any other way but the last few days it's hurt cos of the bloating so my OH bought me a long pillow and I'm managing to sleep on my side leaning on that so far. The way I sleep is almost on my front but with belly on a cushion!

Runner05 · 17/02/2016 07:47

I second Lauren I've got a body pillow and I lean on that at night. I don't sleep as well as I used to but I do sleep.

Is it wrong that now I know baby is ok I just want the next 6 months to bugger off? I'm not really enjoying being pregnant and I can't wait to have my body back (loves my little Potato though!)

BunchOfBobs · 17/02/2016 07:59

Runner completely normal. I am enjoying pregnancy or rather, I'm not really aware I'm pregnant and I still want the next 6 months to fly by.

Dog eviction worked huzzah! I was up once for a wee but this time woke up busting whereas normally I'm laid there awake so go for a wee as "I may aswell". Slept so well either side of night time wees and my pillow rejig clearly helped too. I was sooo comfy. I do have a numb ear though.
I'm a side sleeper and apparently it's best to sleep on your left for blood flow to baby. I've changed my pillow so I can only hug it in my left so I can't roll to my right in the night. Very numb left ear this morning!

I hope the sickness eases for you all today. Fx soon anyway.

LisaTheGreek · 17/02/2016 08:36

Thank you for the nighttime wee help, everyone. Think I went 3 times last night so not great, but I've had worse.

I'm trying to give myself more time in the morning to let the sickness settle before going to work. I used to just jump up, get ready and go (I'm very much a morning person) but now I'm finding I need to adjust and wander round the house slowly, sipping juice or something. When I then leave for work it's still nauseous, but nowhere near as bad.

Per yesterday's advise I nibbled on a bagel for breakfast. Couldn't face putting anything on it, and actually it went down ok.

Sorry to hear people are not sleeping well due to bloating. I guess we can't expect that to get any better as we go forward....!

Pinklily1 · 17/02/2016 09:00

I think I'm going to get one of those pillows then. There is a nice one in mamas and papas but it's slightly boomerang shaped, whereas I think that a straight one might be better. I want to get one I can use behind my back on the sofa and to support when feeding baby too. Will have a good Google!

I'm hoping to get as much sleep as possible during the second trimester to make up for the lack so far and the lack after tooSmile

Runner05 · 17/02/2016 09:17

Just called the community midwife about my fibroid. She told me that the sonographer will have referred me to be consultant lead and I should have an appointment in the next 3 to 4 weeks... I think I'll need to chase it up because I'm pretty sure the sonographer did no such thing but I feel a little better about it now.

Find it quite amazing to think Potato is jumping around the way he was and I can't feel a thing... Can't wait to be able to feel him moving!!! Grin

OP posts:
Mileymoocow · 17/02/2016 09:19

I've noticed I'm getting pains when lying on my side too. It could be time for a pillow already.

I've been back and forward retching since 3am but bring nothing up, just loads of saliva. I'm off work again because I feel so terrible. Why wasn't I warned that I'd literally be out of action for at least a week!!! Sad

Opened the fridge door, there's some open turkey chunks in there. I spewed in the kitchen sink again.

BunchOfBobs · 17/02/2016 09:44

Oh Miley poor you. It sounds horrid. Take it easy and take as much time off as you need- get a sick note!

Runner I'm quite anxious about being able to feel Pip. I keep prodding and lying in wait but I'm worried I won't like the sensation. Seeing videos of baby's moving through tummies makes me think "wow that's amazing" and at the same time completely freaks me out.
I dreamt I could feel the baby move last night. DH thinks maybe I did but in my dream he could feel it to so definitely not.

shelbTa · 17/02/2016 10:10

Morning ladies,

Bloody hell miley you are suffering! Thanks hope you feel better soon. If you can stomach a cream cracker they are good, as is some flat Coke.

Morning bunch - my friend told me the first movements are like when you getting bubbles up your swimming costume in a jacuzzi! Never forgotten that!

Anyone else round the 12 week mark really thirsty??

X

LisaTheGreek · 17/02/2016 10:32

Oh no, Miley, I'm so sorry. That sounds horrible.

Hope you can hunker down in bed and sleep most of it off x

Mileymoocow · 17/02/2016 13:05

Thanks ladies! I threw up when I toon the dog out so forced down a rye cracker, some fruit loaf and came to bed for a bit. I've woke up hungry so i'll try some lunch.

Is it wrong that I think this experience could put me off having a 2nd? OH seems to think I'll forget about it quickly but I'm not convinced!

Nevlet · 17/02/2016 13:07

Oh no miley you need to do whats best for you and rest up!

Runner love the pose your little potato is in!

Shelb yes thirsty all the time!

So had a strange experience in Asda yesterday and not sure whether I am over reacting to be slightly offended. Was doing the normal shop and we have a family do tonight so bought a bottle of jacobs creek infusions which tastes very similiar to prosecco but is 0% (obviously!). At the till the guy IDs me I say sure but it's zero percent, he laughs too saying its just policy etc (totally understand have worked in retail if the till asks for it then not your fault and I don't look over my 25 years). He then asks if I dont drink and I replied with oh I do normally but I'm pregnant so I can't, to which he responds with i'm too young and giving up my life! Now I know it was probably a throwaway comment and not designed to offend but it has really got to me and made me wonder if everyone will think this and silently be judgjng my age. I don't think 25 is shockingly young, dp and I are in a committed stable relationships, own 3 houses between us and both have solid careers. I need Cake
