thread #2 - TTC#1 Grads, sick bags at the ready!

Runner05 · 27/01/2016 15:07

We've finally got our BFPs and have started on the long winding road of pregnancy.

Most of us are starting, within, or just leaving the first trimester where bloating, unexplained discharge and constant nausea are watchwords of the day!

We're battling NHS inconsistencies, trying not to kill our midwives and desperately looking for a magic morning sickness cure... It's TTC#1 grads!!!

Omg and congratulations Lillian! Lovely Valentine's news xx

shelbTa · 15/02/2016 08:06

Morning ladies,

Lilian - I'm using bio oil and palmers a and mama mini when I can afford it!

So I was awake until 1 this morning reading about the ramzi Theory - you guys heard about it?

X

Planeteer · 15/02/2016 08:08

Hey Lillian, lovely to see you here! Great shout on the tummy rub too, I hadn't even thought of that! Gah, there's so much to remember isn't there?!

I really should have used this weekend to look for some looser clothes. So bloated this morning I feel like a sausage in a too-small skin. Blurgh! Think my skinny jeans and I will be on a break before too long.

Good luck at work today miley. Take it as slowly as you can. How's everyone else doing today?

BunchOfBobs · 15/02/2016 08:16

Just looked it up Shelb. I've only heard of skull and nub theory before. I can't even see my place my on my scan photo and at the scan when I asked where it was I got "hmm we'll be able to see better at the next scan" so I think she was clueless too.

shelbTa · 15/02/2016 08:33

Morning bunch. How you doing? I need to sort my head out - I would be delighted at either sex but I'm getting obsessed with these theories! Early hours of this morning I was up until!

X

BunchOfBobs · 15/02/2016 08:47

I'm good thanks Shelb you? I had a rubbish nights sleep but that's no different to usual. I want a girl but only because there's a lot of boys in the family. Boys clothes I prefer though. I'll obviously be just as happy with either.

I'm just watching OBEM and then going to head off to the gym. I hope everyone else has a good day.

Pinklily1 · 15/02/2016 09:00

I'm also using palmers stretch mark cream and also the oil. The skin on my tummy is really dry so I am putting loads on.

Miley, I was off work three weeks with morning sickness. I told my boss why I was off and when I went back made it clear that I wouldn't necessarily last all day every day! I eat something small before going on, then eat little and often during the day, so I'm never hungry as that makes me feel worse. I also try and get some air at lunch time, as that helps me.

LisaTheGreek · 15/02/2016 11:13

Sorry to hear you're feeling it now, Miley. It's coming on for me too, mainly in the mornings and evenings.

As people have said before, it really restricts what you can eat. I usually have fruit for breakfast, because I love fruit, but it's really not great when you're feeling nauseous. I can definitely see why people are keeping crackers in their desk!

BunchOfBobs · 15/02/2016 13:07

Back from the gym and suddenly feeling very pregnant. I've been adamant I don't have a bump, it's all bloat. I don't think I can argue it any more. I really do look pregnant. And the fact I don't feel bloated would agree. It must be all my guts etc being pushed up because baby is still below my belly button but I definately look preggo. Last night having a prod around when laid down I can really feel my uterus and I can really feel it when bending or trying to get off the sofa etc. I can foresee discomfort manoeuvring in the future. Fun times ahead. Anyone else feeling pregnant all of a sudden?

LillianFullStop · 15/02/2016 13:14

Hi all i think I will start with the Bio Oil too - skin feeling dry from the weather anyway so it can't hurt.

The day after BFP and all of a sudden feeling more bloated, appetite is odd and feeling tired. Wondering if it's psychological or hormones are on overdrive at 5+2 weeks. CB test said 1-2 weeks yesterday and this morning it said 2-3 weeks.

Started my prenatal vitamins too!

LillianFullStop · 15/02/2016 13:19

What app are you all using to track pregnancy? I've downloaded Ovia pregnancy but wondering if there is better?

Hope you are doing ok on day 1 miley

shelbTa · 15/02/2016 13:23

Hi,

Lilian - a few of us are using the Pregnancy+ app.

Bunch yes I really am today! Some of it is gas (soz) but definitely feel like it's popped a little bit this weekend. Are you 14weeks bunch? Am only 11+2 so maybe could be all gas!

X

BunchOfBobs · 15/02/2016 13:24

Lillian I think most people on here use Ovia and Pregnancy+. I like Ovia for the ability to add symptoms etc but pregnancy+ is good for pictures and daily info and article.

In using belly butter from hurts bees and Superdrugs restorative oil for bump, boobs, bum and hips.

BunchOfBobs · 15/02/2016 13:27

14 +2 Shelb the uterus feeling is definatley just the last couple of days but DH has been saying about my "bump" for a couple of weeks. Every time I said its bloat I get a laugh and "yep, 24 hour bloat that never goes down and is always there first thing of a morning". He has a point... Confused
Don't get me wrong, I can still fly kites with the wind I get but I just don't "feel" bloated like I'm going to pop like I used to. And my belly wobbles now. It's so bizarre. I get the weirdest lump if I lay down and try to half sit up to look at my tummy. And I laughed out loud at the shape of it when I was doing side planks in the gym.

Pinklily1 · 15/02/2016 13:36

Bunch, I'm 11+3 today and have noticed this weekend that my 'bloat' is more a diddy bump now. I didn't have a flat tummy before, but it wasn't too bad and now there is definitely a little pot. I'm in denial and I'm pretending it's bloating for at least a few more weeks! Grin

Runner05 · 15/02/2016 13:58

Hello ladies, welcome Lilly

Well we all know about my bump but I have discovered today that I can now feel the back of my belly button... I have literally never in my life felt the back of my belly button so it's a bit weird.

I've got my scan tomorrow and I've gone from can't wait to feeling really nervous. I don't think it helps that OH is really nervous about it too and we're both worried about how we'll cope if it's twins. All of my budgeting was based on one child, I have no idea how we would afford two Sad I'm obviously panicking a bit because I kept dreaming last night that we went to scan after scan and they all said twins. Hope that's not a premonition!

Pink I'm a day behind you! My tum has popped out too. I'm also getting lots of twinges over the past few days - are you? Ps - my work know now...

Ah runner you'll be ok - either way I'm sure, but it's more than likely only one. You don't have twins in your family and it wasn't by Ivf - which are the big factors I believe. Understand your worry thought - I shit myself before my dating scan thinking the same! Let us know how you get on.

Mileymoocow · 15/02/2016 16:59

runner I'm sure everything will be ok. Even if it is 2 you'll cope, us women always do! We have semi budgeted for twins because they run in both of our families. Baby stuff is ridiculously priced in my opinion.

OK, I'm home from work and in bed about to have a nap. Sickness subsided enough by 1 o'clock to allow me to eat 2 babybels and a small sandwich but is coming back again now. Is/was anyone else like that? Seems as though I get morning sickness and evening sickness!

I did have a couple of comments about it being morning sickness but I just laughed it off. I genuinely think it's going to be a massive shock because up until the past year or so I've been a bit of a party animal and that's still how everyone at work perceives me resident piss head. I've worked there since I was 17 when I was massively anti baby/marriage and haven't really shown an interest as much as the other women there (I was never broody at all up until a few months ago and it just went on like a switch!). Plus I'm telling them on April fools day Grin

Chocaholic88 · 15/02/2016 17:04

miley sucking polos actually made my nausea vanish, ok I still felt queasy but they stopped me being sick. Obviously won't work for everyone but worth a go?

Oh bless you runner - I think we all worry about that. Im sure it'll be fine and just think how many single babies are born compared to twins! ☺ good luck xx

shelbTa · 15/02/2016 17:24

Miley yeah my sickness use to / still does subside when I eat something - Jacobs cream crackers were good and Diet Coke. Good luck, it's grim! Nice story about your work Smile

Danni89 · 15/02/2016 17:33

Peppermint tea really helped with my sickness avid same as shel crackers

Mileymoocow · 15/02/2016 17:44

I'm going to try everything ladies. Thanks! Grin I seem to be ok with some fruit and the occasional piece of cheese. It's worse than I thought, I must admit. I always thought you just felt a little bit sick every now and then. Oh how naive I have been.

Pinklily1 · 15/02/2016 18:04

Miley, mine is always at its worst in the morning and then from about 5.30pm onwards. I eat as soon as I start feeling nauseous to try to nip it in the bud. Then later in the evening I get reflux too - woo hoo! I've also completely gone off meat - I have become a pregnancy vegetarian!

Runner, hope tomorrow goes well and there is only one baby cooking! I have had twin related dreams but we have no twins in our family so I hoping it's just weird pregnancy dreams.

Shelb, I've had twinges again over the past two days, just on and off. I'm assuming its growth pains again. I'm going to start looking online for some maternity clothes soon I think.

Hope everyone else is well?

Pinklily1 · 15/02/2016 18:05

Also Miley, I found that a slice of lemon or lime in a glass of water helps the water go down more easily.

Mileymoocow · 15/02/2016 18:41

Thanks pink. I've been in bed since about 4.30 feeling pretty vile! I thought about meat when you menioned it and the thought seems absolutely repulsive to me, too, right now.
