thread #2 - TTC#1 Grads, sick bags at the ready!

We've finally got our BFPs and have started on the long winding road of pregnancy.

Most of us are starting, within, or just leaving the first trimester where bloating, unexplained discharge and constant nausea are watchwords of the day!

We're battling NHS inconsistencies, trying not to kill our midwives and desperately looking for a magic morning sickness cure... It's TTC#1 grads!!!

Nursery talk! The room we are using is a creamy green and cream now so keeping it largely the same just changing furniture from spare room to cot and drawer unit we think. Not sure if we will add anything decor wise we are very rural so I like the idea of bringing that in somehow...
We are planning on telling friends and family this week over half term, our nhs scan is quite late at over 13 weeks so went for a private one yesterday and got moved forward a couple of days... Cant believe how clear this is for 11 weeks!

I'm quite taken with the idea of animal stencils too, think they would look cute.

Nev, that's such a good clear picture! I do love it that people are getting dated a bit ahead of what they thought. Really hope that happens to us too!

Nevlet · 14/02/2016 12:30

Thanks pink i was amazed with that picture! I have a dvd recording too its incredible to see them wiggling around and waving!

BunchOfBobs · 14/02/2016 12:33

Aww Nev it's a lovely clear photo. My first private scan was at 8 weeks so it's a pizza slice! I was pushed back a day with my 12 weeks but hoping to not change or come forward with my 20 weeks.

I've changed my mind after talking nurseries and now I'm definitely going for white walls and colourful accents. I'm getting a full wall tree decal/sticker and white curtains with coloured polka dots on. Still probably cloud light. I have a green armchair and red footstool that can have a use again in the Nursery so should tie it all together quite nicely.

Nevlet · 14/02/2016 12:36

Thanks bunch! I love the idea of the chair and stool but our third bedroom is tiny so don't think i would get anything like that in there.

I am hoping to get some inspiration from the babyshow in London this friday.

Does anyone else feel nervous about telling people? I feel really embarrassed like I am announcing "we've done an awful lot of shagging" instead haha!

Newmrs22 · 14/02/2016 12:40

Ooh lots of good nursery ideas! I need to have a think. The room is currently cream and pale green so could just leave it like that.

I was told at my scan that they won't change the due date now unless the 20 week scan is more than 1 or 2 weeks out.

BunchOfBobs · 14/02/2016 12:42

I got nervous announcing it. We told our families at 5 weeks as we were away for my 30th and it would have been obvious I wasn't drinking- I was nervous the whole day for that. Then we left it to parents to tell everyone after 12 week scan and followed with a Facebook post. Every time someone says well done I remind them they're congratulating us on having sex ha. It is odd! Quite cringey my Nan and aunty got us a congrats card Hmm

Oh and Pink dtd definitely feels different- but in a good way Wink

Nevlet · 14/02/2016 12:46

We told parents at 5 too because not drinking would have been obvious to them. A couple of other family members who have been told for various reasons have strange reactions varying from outright asking if it was an accident to asking us how we will fit in getting married before september (we aren't planning to!)

Dtd is definitely different now I agree with bunch it is definitely a good different!!

shelbTa · 14/02/2016 12:49

Amazing picture nev!

Is anyone else round the 11 week mark exhausted?! Jesus I am today.

X

Pinklily1 · 14/02/2016 13:53

Shelb - I am exhausted. I'm going to bed at about 8.30am at the minute!

Pinklily1 · 14/02/2016 13:53

er, I meant 8.30pm!!

LillianFullStop · 14/02/2016 18:23

Hello everyone - so nice to see some familiar names! Joining this grad thread from the TTC #1 thread as I got my BFP today! Nice clear line on FRER and a 1-2 weeks on CB. Still stunned by it as I didn't have many symptoms. My stats:

Lillian (36)
TTC #1 (1 mc last year)
Cycle #2
5+2 weeks

BunchOfBobs · 14/02/2016 18:27

Congrats Lillian and welcome to the grads thread. I hope early pregnancy treats you kindly and you manage to dodge morning sickness like a few of us have Smile

Mileymoocow · 14/02/2016 18:53

Brilliant! Hi lillian! Nice to see you here.

OK, haven't vomited today but had nausea on and off all day. Had a pretty bad spell before where I felt light headed and sweaty at the same time as feeling nauseous. Roll on 10 weeks!

Co5mo · 14/02/2016 18:57

Congrats Lillian.

We tentatively talked about how we rearrange the house to fit baby in. Just had new neutral curtains in the likely room so I think it will be neutrals as a base for us.

Morwenna1 · 14/02/2016 19:01

Evening all and hello to Lillian!

Just about caught up....
Bunch sorry to hear you're feeling a bit down about things, I think it's only natural in the circumstances. Don't forget that your 'mones are all over the shop and it's difficult to think objectively because of this too. Really hope things pick up for you work wise soon. Can I ask, how long did you have to wait for the low risk letter to come through? And did you get in touch to ask about the Patau's and Edwards tests? Hopefully you are low risk for them as well.

Danni From your post a few pages ago, the description of the hospital sounds very similar!! I'd rather not share the location publically for fear of outing, but would be interested to know if we're in the same place! PM me if you like!

I'm veering towards the prospect of a water birth. If it all goes tits up, then I know I'll have to get out, but the bed is in the same room and they can wheel it over so I'm happy with that. The only downside is strong pain relief isn't an option (epidural) if you need it. However, some women find it useful to labour in a pool then get out for the actual event in any case.

Leslie Hope you recover quickly from Noro virus, that's good that it won't affect the baby.

Dr You should be fine with the paint situ, just stay away from it from now on! It's long term exposure that's an issue. Solvents are not good news though. (I'll be getting DH to paint the nursery! No idea on decor yet!)

Nev Can't believe how rude some family members can be. It would be so insensitive to ask someone who'd been trying for some time if it was a mistake. I'd respond by sarcastically saying 'Well, we decided to not use protection and see what would happen. What the fuck do you think?'

My weird dream involved being hoisted above the heads of people in a mosh pit whilst I shouted to be put down because I'm pregnant!

Morwenna1 · 14/02/2016 19:03

Oh, and lovely scan Nev! All looking good in there Smile

LillianFullStop · 14/02/2016 19:12

No nausea ... yet!

Pinklily1 · 14/02/2016 19:27

Congratulations Lillian! I'm 11+2 today and desperate for the sickness/ nausea to end. Its getting better each day I think, so fingers crossed!

BunchOfBobs · 14/02/2016 20:10

Thanks Mor. I had the test on the 1st and the letter came yesterday so 2 working weeks. I'm just going to wait until my midwife appointment on the 25th.

Laurenrl · 14/02/2016 20:31

Congratulations Lillian! Welcome to the thread

Laurenrl · 14/02/2016 21:58

Bought our first baby item today and it's been cat approved already

LillianFullStop · 14/02/2016 23:04

Oh that's so cute lauren - cat might take some convincing to give it up haha

What is everyone using for tummy rub? I've read about Bio Oil, the mamma mio and the Clarins one. I hear some essential oils are meant to be avoided in the first trimester?

Mileymoocow · 15/02/2016 06:59

lillian I've bought bio oil. Used it before on stretch marks when I was a teen. Took a while but they did fade!

How are people coping with morning sickness at work? I'm in full swing now and at work for the first time with it

IndiX · 15/02/2016 07:41

Lillian I'm just slathering on loads of coconut oil every day. I just have a big jar of it and wack a load on before bed, hopefully will do the trick
