thread #2 - TTC#1 Grads, sick bags at the ready!

We've finally got our BFPs and have started on the long winding road of pregnancy.

Most of us are starting, within, or just leaving the first trimester where bloating, unexplained discharge and constant nausea are watchwords of the day!

We're battling NHS inconsistencies, trying not to kill our midwives and desperately looking for a magic morning sickness cure... It's TTC#1 grads!!!

I also did my first but not very tactical morning sickness spew today! Wonder if I can put that in ovia as a milestone!

We're getting a nursery 3 piece cot, wardrobe and drawers/changing table set from mothercare in tuesday while it's on 20% off and I can't help feeling like I'm tempting fate. It's such a good saving though

Mileymoocow · 13/02/2016 10:40

Haha bunch brilliant. I didn't even look for your name! I was too busy clucking over your scan

Chocaholic88 · 13/02/2016 11:20

I'm either 6 weeks (least pregnant I can be), 9 weeks (on my notes) or 11+1 (maximum I can be from the 1st BFP) ... Nothing like keeping me on my toes haha

Nausea is pretty much non existent now... apart from this morning as I've been up all night with my 6yr old daughter and feel like poop! Oddly sucking a polo completely kills off the nausea. Bonus!

BunchOfBobs · 13/02/2016 12:21

Just got my blood results letter. 1 in 10000 chance of having DS but why doesn't it say anything about Edwards or Pataus? Did anyone else get this?

Mileymoocow · 13/02/2016 15:32

Morning sickness ladies - I've been recommended frozen grapes and they're really working for me

Pinklily1 · 13/02/2016 16:05

Sorry the sickness has hit Miley. We are about 15 minutes from the new hospital. We were offered either there or the RVI. The midwife didn't say anything about a tour though, I definitely want to look around!

I'm feeling better as each day goes by, not as sick but I still need to eat little and often to keep the nausea at bay. Still hoping to feel much better in a few weeks though!

Mileymoocow · 13/02/2016 16:57

We're about 10 minutes north of it. Yes, definitely have yourself a look around! We were offered after our 12 week scan even though that is at wansbeck

Pinklily1 · 13/02/2016 18:15

I'll ask about it when we go for our scan then. Definitely want to have a look before actually going to give birth Grin

Mileymoocow · 13/02/2016 18:24

Are you going there for your scans too? I really want to! Do you mind me asking if you're 15 mins south or north? You obviously don't have to answer if you'd rather not! It's bizarre to find someone on here so close haha.

BunchOfBobs · 13/02/2016 18:33

Ladies, I hope I don't drag the thread down but just wondering gif anyone else has been struggling with feeling down lately.
I keep having phases of feeling so down I cry and just feel generally shit about myself.
I'm so happy when I'm planning stuff and being busy but when I stop I just start feeling really low.
I don't think it helps that with the oil crash and me being self employed it means I haven't worked since December.
Today I have completed re done my office and re purposed it so it can have a double bed in (to take place of the guest room we're losing to the nursery) and I feel amazing.
I don't know how to keep myself super busy for the next 6 months without work.

Pinklily1 · 13/02/2016 19:25

Miley, we are south. My scans are at North Tyneside. I wish they were at Cramlington too but I guess they aren't classed as 'emergency' so wouldn't fall within its remit.

Bunch, I have also felt down. There are days when I think I just can't do this for another 6 months and I want to sit and cry. Then other days I feel fine. It's definitely good to keep yourself busy with things like the office tidying. Do you have any hobbies to keep you occupied? I was a gym bunny and runner which has fallen by the wayside with feeling ill, so I feel like a part of me has gone too, which is hard.

BunchOfBobs · 13/02/2016 20:34

I do Pink but have no drive to do them at the minute which is depressing in itself. I got back to the gym last week though which felt great!

DrWhy · 13/02/2016 22:34

Bunch I sympathise, the oil price is a nightmare at the moment, I'm currently still employed, although a job grade down and the next wave of cuts have been announced. DH is at the same company so both our jobs are on the line at the moment.
On a different subject I'm having a bit of a panic now. We need to do some DIY before my flat can go on the market, DH had to go out this morning so I cheerfully gloss painted the door frame. I had a mask on but took it off to clear up and was washing the brushes in white spirit, breathing it in and had it all over my hands. I have been able to smell the paint all day (only been out a couple of hours). I have just realised you aren't supposed to use any solvent based paint in the 1st trimester!! I don't know what I can do now, have just been in bed with window open and door shut but can still smell it. Should I let the midwife know? Could they do extra development scans? I can't believe I've done this, I've been really careful with food and drink, didn't even think about bloody paint!!!

shelbTa · 14/02/2016 09:03

Aw bunch virtual hug - I feel down some days too, like yesterday it just washed over me for half an hour. Half of it will be your hormones and natural anxiety about the changes ahead, but the employment thing must be really tough too. Is your DH in the same line of work?

X

shelbTa · 14/02/2016 09:34

Dr - easily done I'm sure! I'd ring the midwife on Monday just to be cautious, but you're probs ok.

X

Pinklily1 · 14/02/2016 09:38

Dr, I agree with Shelb, I'd let the midwife know just to be sure and she will be able to give you guidance/ reassurance I am sure. It really is a minefield as to what we are meant to avoid and not - avoiding painting wouldn't even have entered my head!

At the risk of TMI, OH and I finally DTD yesterday, after a very long stretch without due to my sickness! Has anyone else found that there bits feel a bit swollen/ things feel a bit tighter? Blush I'm assuming it's extra blood flood down there related to baby!

Pinklily1 · 14/02/2016 09:40

Bunch, getting back to the gym is brilliant!
I know it won't pass all of the time, but have you planned your nursery yet? That's something distracting and nice.

BunchOfBobs · 14/02/2016 09:58

Thanks ladies.
Feeling okay this morning. DH is in renewables so complete opposite line of work but it's also doing shite because of our government. Thank fully his job is safe and he just had a big promotion- we're lucky that happened. I'm hoping to get some work within the next 6 months but I'm preparing myself for that not to happen.

Dr as the other have said,'in sure you'll be fine but best to mention it to the midwife and keep all windows open. Out of curiosity what do you do, I'm assuming oil industry too?

Pink I've planned it to the nth degree. Smile Just got to get DH to agree to it now.

Pinklily1 · 14/02/2016 10:20

Ooh, what are you going for Bunch in terms of colours? My OH wants something muted, creams and fawns, but I want something a bit brighter. Definitely not pink or blue, but maybe white with some bright colours in their too.

BunchOfBobs · 14/02/2016 10:33

We're keeping it the same colour it already is which is grey, as that's a nice base for everything. Then thinking a white cot bed and the toss up is between tree decals or clouds. With some colour in the curtains and in bedding. As I'm going cloth nappies they'll be in open shelving as they're super bright and pretty so more colour will be in the room. Also will have a cloud shaped light shade. The issue is I have some gorgeous antique walnut and cherry wood furniture (chest of drawers and wardrobe) which has to stay in there (no room elsewhere) and I refuse to get rid. So the room does seem quite dark due to that. For that reason I'm considering painting the room white then I can have lots of colour to accent it. They'll be shelves with books on and an armchair and footstool for night feeds- though none of this will be used until this time next year. So basically, no real decision made yet ha! I'm the same as your DH though and like muted colours for walls etc but I want colour accents.

shelbTa · 14/02/2016 11:01

Pooh decorating talk. I was thinking a nice shade (nothing too obvious) of blue or pink, as we have loads of grey in our house. Plus some animal stencils on the wall.

I'm really tempted to buy something baby related today, but holding back until after scan / payday!

Planeteer · 14/02/2016 11:10

Had a bit of a nursery daydream earlier. I tend to make a beeline for anything with a woodland creature on it, so think will be going down that road. Maybe cream and not-too-lairy green for the colour scheme, and carte blanche to buy as many fox and badger themed decorative items as possible!!

Planeteer · 14/02/2016 11:15

Bunch love the sound of a cloud light.

sophied1983 · 14/02/2016 11:17

I had the weirdest dream last night. That I could see my baby's hands pushing through my skin. But not on my tummy no... on my thighs?!

Ha... how weird and gross is that?!

Just had to share...

Mileymoocow · 14/02/2016 11:19

We're going pale yellow, with oak furniture and cream/gold stuff! We also have the roll up roll up bedding set from mothercare as well as he moses basket and wall stickers. I can't wait to get started!

pink we dtd last night and it definitely feels different for me. So much more sensitive
