thread #2 - TTC#1 Grads, sick bags at the ready!

We've finally got our BFPs and have started on the long winding road of pregnancy.

Most of us are starting, within, or just leaving the first trimester where bloating, unexplained discharge and constant nausea are watchwords of the day!

We're battling NHS inconsistencies, trying not to kill our midwives and desperately looking for a magic morning sickness cure... It's TTC#1 grads!!!

Thanks girls, really means a lot.

morwena I don't really want to go any earlier as they've always said they won't see anything until v close to 7 weeks either way so it would be inconclusive, so I just want them to tell me conclusively and get it over with, plus I do not want to miss too much work and I'm off on Friday.

I've slept all afternoon and OH is really worried, keeps waking me up to check I'm ok.

I've had no more bleeding since the one wee this morning with the gush (about a teaspoon) with pea clot coming out last, no pain. It's more cruel not knowing what's going on than if I got a full AF type bleed I think.

Laurenrl · 06/02/2016 16:56

Also I'm really sorry ipatches
**
I'm staying strong by my aunties story, she has a miscarriage and an ectopic pregnancy both by week 8 and thought she would never get her baby, she now has the 2 most gorgeous perfect 5 and 6 year olds who wouldn't exist if she hadn't had the first heartbreaks, things always happen for a reason and our reason will be obvious one day xx

Pinklily1 · 06/02/2016 17:06

Thanks Lauren, get lots of rest and have OH continue to look after you. Your Auntie's story is so encouraging, definitely something to hold onto in a difficult time.

ipatches, so sorry to hear your news too. Has AF appeared?

Chocaholic88 · 06/02/2016 17:09

lauren I'm so sorry :( biggest of hugs

ipatches that happened to me but 3 weeks later got positives again with no bleed between... just keep an eye on it xx fingers crossed for you xx

iPatches · 06/02/2016 17:25

AF hasn't arrived - 6 days late. My boobs are still sore. Nothing else has changed except clearly it has because there was no mistaking the positives last weekend, and now no mistaking the positives this weekend.

I am not taking this well - have been in tears since 7am. I have waited a long time to TTC and to have it ripped away before it even started is so cruel.

Tears yesterday morning and evening as well - somehow managed to go to work and pull off a convincing "it's all okay" act. I don't even know what to do now.

I have a doctor's appointment next week where I was going report that I was pregnant. Guess I'd better go and report that I'm not.

iPatches · 06/02/2016 17:26

*negatives this weekend, sorry.

Chocaholic88 · 06/02/2016 17:28

Just stay positive ipatches do you remember everything that's happened to me since my first bfp in December? So so confusing. It confused me more and more that I didn't bleed and got negative results yet still felt pregnant ... turns out I am and my midwife is sure I have been all along xx hugs xx

Laurenrl · 06/02/2016 17:31

Oh patches I feel so terrible for you, stay positive as choc says, and even if it is not good news, you've shown yourself that you can get pregnant which means you can again, probably really quickly!

iPatches · 06/02/2016 17:36

Choc - I don't know your story. I know that a positive followed by a negative is probably a very early miscarriage - if I had a longer cycle, perhaps I'd have missed it, but my cycle is only 27 days. I haven't bled, no spotting, nothing, but clearly something is very, very wrong. I don't even know what to do when I go to see the doctor. I don't know when we can TTC again and even if I can get pregnant, I clearly can't hold onto it.

Chocaholic88 · 06/02/2016 17:40

OK bear with me and I'll type a post now to explain xx

Chocaholic88 · 06/02/2016 17:46

Basically I came off the pill on December 12th (zeletta mini pill) and by 27th Dec felt a little odd (I've already got two children)

Did 4 tests, 3 in the days before the 27th and one on the 27th, 3 really faint positives and one clear positive on the 27th. Booked in with the midwife etx. Did another test as had one left over... negative.

Phoned the midwife and was told it was probably chemical and to expect a bleed. Told if nothing changed to see the Dr the following week.

Developed sore boobs that went up from A cup to C cup (still are I might add), nausea, adversion to coffee, metal taste in mouth, tiredness etc

Had a blood test on 11th Jan. Dr said to cancel my booking appointment on 28th. Phoned the midwife who said she still thought I was pregnant and to phone her on the 26th if I still hadn't had a bleed.

On the 26th of Jan (still with all the symptoms) I got a strong positive with FRER and spoke to the midwife who said she still wanted to see me.

She thinks I'm pregnant from the original BFP (which would make me 10 weeks) but has put me down as 8 weeks so that if I've fallen since then it'll still show on the scan. I'm awaiting a date in the next 3-4 weeks.

Interestingly my nausea has gone, as has my sore boobs so leans towards I was pregnant all along. Totally crazy.

I hope my story makes sense ipatches

Mileymoocow · 06/02/2016 17:49

lauren I'm so so sorry, that is really awful news. We're all here if you need us, not that anything we could say will take the hurt away Flowers

ipatches I followed chocs story and am really hoping you're in a similar situation

Morwenna1 · 06/02/2016 18:00

Hugs Lauren Would it not be worth talking over what's happened with a midwife anyway? If you're not sure? (I only say this because of what you mention about it not being like an AF bleed and you had no pain). Your auntie's story is a really positive one Smile

As Choc say Patches, there are cases of negatives showing up when they shouldn't! If you don't get any other symptoms, then a doctor can do a blood test to tell you for definite if you are still pregnant. Choc did you have this test?

Morwenna1 · 06/02/2016 18:02

Forget that Choc you mention the doctor took your bloods. Did they tell you the result of that test?

Chocaholic88 · 06/02/2016 18:13

Yes... negative by the doctors margins...

Spoke to the midwife... who replied nothing I haven't seen before?! She doesn't seem phased by it! Said you get false negatives but almost impossible to have false positIves!

Crazy isn't it! Can't wait for my scan so I know for sure... even if it just gives others some idea!

iPatches · 06/02/2016 18:16

choc - your story is lovely but it won't be my story.
My boobs hurt less today. This is definitely over.
I don't doubt that I was pregnant last week.
But clearly I am no longer.
I don't know what to do about the journey ahead. I can't go through this again and again. 5 weeks this time. That's all I could do.

IndiX · 06/02/2016 18:27

Try to stay positive ipatches that's all you can do right now. I followed choc's story too and apparently it is a lot more common than we would think. Sending lots of love xx

hgleslie89 · 06/02/2016 18:27

Patches any chance you're just testing too frequently? The hormone levels aren't that high during the early weeks.
Also, my symptoms came and went until week 6 or so - I'm 15 weeks today and everything's doing great.
Hugs and fingers crossed for you.

Morwenna1 · 06/02/2016 18:29

Patches I didn't realise this has happened before...Flowers xx

Choc the blood test came back negative? And then you got a positive FRER? OK, that is baffling. Confused

Pinklily1 · 06/02/2016 18:33

Ipatches, try to stay strong and please don't blame yourself. Mother Nature can be an absolute bitch sometimes but it doesn't necessarily mean that the same thing will happen if you try again. Thanks

iPatches · 06/02/2016 18:34

I don't think I'm testing too frequently.
Why would I get two very clear positives last weekend (one Sat, one Sun) and then two very clear negatives today, other than that the pregnancy is over? Same brand of test.

iPatches · 06/02/2016 18:37

Pink - I did everything right, so I'm not "blaming" myself, but at the same time, to be it's a big sign that says my body just can't maintain a pregnancy, if I can't even get off the ground with it.

DH and I have waited a long time for this and I'm not willing to repeatedly put myself through the joy of thinking that we may finally be pregnant and then the hell that is finding out that we aren't. I don't think I have ever been as upset as I have been in the last 48 hours. I'm not trying to be dramatic. I knew the risks. I didn't expect to feel this way.

Laurenrl · 06/02/2016 18:41

My mum rang a widwife as I was refusing to as I knew what they'd say. She said lots of people bleed even heavily and it's nothing especially if they have a UTI (which I was on treatment for until yesterday) so to call 111 and get an out of hours appointment, mum convinced me to so I'm now waiting for a doctor to call back even though I just wanted it to all happen naturally without the worry/ stress of going and sitting in a waiting room on a sat night when they won't scan and will just send me home to see what happens Hmm which is what I was doing anyway

Chocaholic88 · 06/02/2016 18:43

morwenna 3 of the original BFP'S (they are faint yes but still there)

Then negative bloods on 11th Jan

Lauren I'm thinking of you, my mum has just been telling me about one of her friends who had full periods up until 7 months.its unusual but can happen. The doctors may put your mind at rest, hope you are ok. Sending hugs xx
