thread #2 - TTC#1 Grads, sick bags at the ready!

We've finally got our BFPs and have started on the long winding road of pregnancy.

Most of us are starting, within, or just leaving the first trimester where bloating, unexplained discharge and constant nausea are watchwords of the day!

We're battling NHS inconsistencies, trying not to kill our midwives and desperately looking for a magic morning sickness cure... It's TTC#1 grads!!!

Potential TMI but I have no point of reference with this question!
Am 9+4 today and apart from bouts of feeling sick my stomach has been fine. Last few days I have been getting awful cramps (definitely bowels not like af pains at all) and HAVE to go to the loo. Happening about 3/4 times a day. However when I go I have a normal tummy not an upset one. Anyone else had this?

Mileymoocow · 05/02/2016 14:00

Well I think I'm going to have to suck it up and leave the lab at work. I work with a few old school scientists and have been a bit pissed off with their blahsay approach to handling solvents. I walked in as one was emptying 5litres of it down a sink and am now so worried I could have harmed my little bean. Angry

Danni89 · 05/02/2016 14:20

Hello all.. Can I join?

I've been following the thread for a while but thought it's time to introduce myself.

I'm 8+5, booking appointment is next Friday and scan 1st week of March. All very exciting!

Was feeling very nauseous the past 2 weeks... But it seems to be easing up not sure if that's a good thing or not??

I'm 26 (27 next month) and I'm from East London. Look forward to sharing my journey with you all...

Morwenna1 · 05/02/2016 15:59

Hi Danni! I'd say that's good news your nausea is easing up! Hope you're not easily offended as we do go into details about cervical mucus and toliet habits on this thread. But we're an honest bunch and if it helps then it's all for the greater good (just had Hot Fuzz flashback, should we all get capes?!Wink)

You should get your scan earlier than that Lauren If you're having the tests there is a time frame so they'll get you in earlier. (Well, that's what my midwife told me).

Nev my cramps have been linked to er, my bowel habits. They have been fairly severe and I have an urge to go straight away, as soon as I go it's fine (and the cramps disappear). Mind you, I think I was borderline IBS before I got pregnant, so it could be that it's just exacerbated an issue that was there anyway. I'll keep an eye on it and bring it up at my next appointment if it's bothering me. FYI it's not all the time, just the odd occasion that I'll get it.

Laurenrl · 05/02/2016 16:33

Welcome Danni! A south west Londoner here :)

IndiX · 05/02/2016 17:32

Welcome danni!
Nev I had the same kind of thing a few nights ago, waking up at 3.30am every night. desperate for the toilet. Seems to have stopped now however I do go through times in the day when I think I need to go and when I do nothing happens, I wouldn't say I'm constipated though. I do have IBS so didn't know if it was just that playing up.

Btw I've just been researching and seems like I can get an early 8 week scan for £39 here! I wouldn't have got it done it was £50+ for for that cheap I can't say no! Also I'm desperate to announce it properly so think I will feel better about announcing early once I hear the heartbeat. I'm so excited!

DrWhy · 05/02/2016 18:05

Morwenna I just googled NIPT and the name of my city, same for harmony and picked the one with the most professional looking website!
Counting down the days until my scan now, there is just no way I can let myself get at all excited unless I know there's a live and kicking baby in there. Especially as the nausea has faded again, I'm clinging to the fact that my mum didn't get morning sickness so I may not and it doesn't mean there's anything wrong.
I feel bad enough with this everlasting cold anyway!

Pinklily1 · 05/02/2016 18:06

Welcome Danni!

How's everyone feeling today?

Nev, I have that too re bowel habits. I used to go every day or every other, now it's about every third day. I don't feel the need at all, then I get a sudden urge, have got to and at the risk of TMI it's always a bit 'lose' Shock I am planning on mentioning it to my midwife at my next appointment it it continues, but I suspect it is down to the fact that I am eating very differently to usual - I'm normally a big fruit and veg eater and have totally gone off it.

Thanks for the tips re the headaches. I went to bed with one last night, it was still there when I woke up, went during the day and has come back this afternoon. I think it might be tiredness and perhaps the result of a week back at work looking at a computer screen. I'm trying to resist taking paracetamol.

KatOnATinRo0f · 05/02/2016 22:35

Hello.... No don't get excited I'm not pregnant I'm sorry for sneaking over to the wrong thread (I feel like when you're at primary school and you sneak round to the juniors playground when you should be in the infants)
.... Just want to see if we know how pregnant choc is yet?????
Love to you all.

LisaTheGreek · 05/02/2016 23:17

No Kat, I don't think we do, actually! Well remembered.

We need Choc to update us!

sophied1983 · 06/02/2016 07:16

Hello fellow Londoners!

I hear you on the bowel issues. Mine has been making some crazy noises and gurgles, been quite an upset tum and wake up early in the morning needing the toilet.

I do have ulcerative colitis and pregnancy can flare that up.

Chocaholic88 · 06/02/2016 10:07

Hey ladies! Sorry for being MIA... had so much going on including lots of exciting work related stuff.

Who has had BFP's in my absence?! Fill me innnnnn!

Officially either 5, 8 or 10 weeks today... random as ever. Still no sign of scan dates...

Nausea has FINALLY gone... boobs still big but no longer hurt... leaning towards the 10 weeks mark don't you think? 😉

How are we all?

We're guilty of buying baby stuff already too 🙈🙈🙊🙊

Laurenrl · 06/02/2016 12:58

So after my 2 lots of brown spotting today At exactly 6 weeks I felt terrible, went to the toilet an hour ago & I'm heavily bleeding and passed a big clot (raisin size)Will still go for my scan on Friday but I know it's over :( guess my doctor will be able to tell me when I can start trying again. Beyond devastated so probably won't be on here for a while. Good luck girls xxxx

LisaTheGreek · 06/02/2016 14:06

So sorry Lauren. I don't know what to say, just... sending love and support x

iPatches · 06/02/2016 15:45

Lauren I am sorry.

I guess am also out.

I got my BFP last Sat and again on Sunday which was when AF was due. We were delighted.
Kept testing this week with the cheap sticks, just for fun.
The lines on the cheap tests were always faint but got fainter, to nothing at all.
DH tried to reassure me and yesterday bought some Asda tests - both negative.
Bought some Boots and also Clear Blue (the same brand that I got the two positives with - which came up instantly and were without question positives last weekend) and used them this morning, along with another internet cheapie. Three negatives.

Guessing chemical pregnancy. I couldn't even manage a week.

Morwenna1 · 06/02/2016 15:47

Lauren I'm so sorry, can you get yourself an earlier scan? Don't wait till Friday, ring up the hospital and get yourself in asap. Although things don't look good, I have heard of women having bleeding and when they got checked out all was ok. Flowers

Morwenna1 · 06/02/2016 15:50

Take care of yourselves and don't be too disheartened, it wasn't meant to be this time but you will get there and we'll be waiting to cheer you on when you do ThanksCakeWine
