thread #2 - TTC#1 Grads, sick bags at the ready!

We've finally got our BFPs and have started on the long winding road of pregnancy.

Most of us are starting, within, or just leaving the first trimester where bloating, unexplained discharge and constant nausea are watchwords of the day!

We're battling NHS inconsistencies, trying not to kill our midwives and desperately looking for a magic morning sickness cure... It's TTC#1 grads!!!

runner sorry you're feeling so shitty still Sad really hope you're almost out of the woods.

bunch my dog had really bad allergies as a pup, he's on a raw diet now and much better.

pink good going! 2 cup sizes is impressive! Mine haven't really changed but it's still early days. I have a erm.. larger chest anyway so really don't want any more boob.

I can't stop eating. Someone please bolt my fridge!

Runner05 · 04/02/2016 20:32

Nev glad you're feeling better.

Mor I'm 10+5 today and Shelb (glad you're feeling better) I've also read that week 10 can be the worse week for morning sickness. I've definitely noticed that it's worse the past few days. I thought last weekend I was starting to feel a tiny bit better but then I started feeling rough as old boots. I constantly feel as if I'm about to be sick, like there's something lodged in my throat trying to make me gag, I've been sick much more often and I can't bare for my poor OH to snuggle next to me at night think he's feeling a bit unloved so I've bought him some StarWars Lego, nothing says I love you lake StarWars and Lego Wink
So hoping that I'm following a textbook case and will make a textbook recovery at the end of the first trimester. I'm quite hopeful as my body is usually does as it's supposed to.

Indi I hear you with the exhaustion. I'm well known for being incapable of taking naps during the day but right now it's more a case of, when can't I nap?. Maybe this is training for when the baby's born and you have to sleep when you can? Confused

Pink I'm in awe of you getting back to work. I'm certain I wouldn't last ten minutes!
Unfortunately walking or pretty much any movement makes me really sick. I had to put the shopping away today and I was literally walking around the kitchen telling myself to move slowly, no sudden movements, don't bend down, don't turn around at anything but a snails pace. It took forever and was a bit pathetic. I feel about 90!

My scan is on 16th feb. we can't wait to see our little potato with eyes (that's what I've always said new born babies look like, not overly maternal towards other people's kids Wink)

Miley I'm pretty sure that as long as you're not existing solely on crisps, chocolate and ice cream you're allowed to eat everything in sight.
I for some reason could quite happily spend all day nibbling cucumber... Or lettuce if all the cucumbers gone. I think that probably just means I'm not drinking enough. Unfortunately I also want to eat strawberry laces all the time which isn't so good Hmm

Think I might be getting another UTI but on the bright side I bought some dove shampoo and body wash today and using it didn't make me vomit. Woohoo win!

Things were improving, then I as some dinner and was promptly sick. That's the first time I've been sick at night Confused

IndiX · 04/02/2016 21:11

Ladies, I'm really worried. I've just been for a wee and checked my cervix I don't know why, got in to the habit when in 2ww and I had some light pink creamy CM. I'm so scared, anyone else had this? Just googled and it seems quite common and normal but I'm so worried

Runner05 · 04/02/2016 21:55

Aww Pink sorry to hear you're being sick again. If it makes you feel any better I'm sure it won't we appear to have unwittingly engaged in synchronised vomiting delightful

Indi leave that cervix alone! Lol. Yes some blood staining is normal. If you don't prod your cervix it will just show up as a brown stain when you wipe. I think about half of the ladies on here have had it.

Tmi, but are any of you a little sore down below from the additional moisture? My bits and the sides of my legs where the edge of my pants sit are a bit tender and I'm having to change my pants a couple of times a day. Very embarrassing! Blush

Right, I'm off to feel a little sorry for myself.

IndiX · 04/02/2016 22:10

Thanks runner, I am definitely not going near it again! Spoke to my mum and googled it and seems pretty normal. It was only a very small amount but still scared me to death!

Laurenrl · 04/02/2016 23:30

Indi, I keep being told its normal for a bit of blood, I've had brown when I wipe at 4+4 and 5+5 and both times I've been devastated and thought everything had gone wrong, now just about getting to the point where I don't panic every time I go for a wee as I've read its normal so many times and the woman at the epu said (whilst politely booking me in for a scan later as it was too early) 'bleeding little bits probably just means your pregnant my love, come back if it pours' didn't stop me worrying though, almost cried tonight because I was worried that my boobs didn't hurt (they now do again) Damn hormones!

IndiX · 05/02/2016 08:43

Lauren I read so much online last night so I'm sure it's completely normal. As I said mine was a tiny amount of light pink discharge but enough for me to cry and phone my mum! It's a scary time but I'm sure we will be fine as long as we keep healthy and positive.
Hope some of you ladies are feeling a bit better today, look after yourselves this weekend ThanksCakeChocolate

Mileymoocow · 05/02/2016 09:28

runner it's relatively healthy stuff. I did find myself with a fork in a jar of pickled cabbage though which is very weird.

I'm symptomless today except strange twinges and a sharp pain in my rib area.

shelbTa · 05/02/2016 09:45

Hi,

Lauren try not to worry about the blood - so many people on this thread have had it - which doesn't make it any less worrying but it's quite common it seems. Take it easy.

Oh pink that sounds really rough! Glad work has been ok though.

Is anyone considering a private sexing / gender scan? I am cos I'm so so excited and impatient, but when i mention it to friends and family they think I'm mental! It's only £40 near us so think I might treat myself further down the line.

X

Mileymoocow · 05/02/2016 09:50

shelb I definitely would for £40! It's £100 here and we're considering it if we decide to find out gender. I'm naturally an impatient person though. My 12 week is still 7 and a bit weeks away and I'm already twitchy.

shelbTa · 05/02/2016 11:08

Thanks miley! I know, oh doesn't get it (he said last night whilst sipping a beer) I said - listen, getting excited about this, feeling sick and eating is all I have at the moment! The 8 weeks between 12 and 20 week scan would be so long!

X

IndiX · 05/02/2016 11:10

Shelb I'm definitely going to get the private gender scan, I live in Scotland and they don't give you the option to know the sex up here, however back home in North west England it's normal at your 20 week scan. I think I'm going to go home to get it done but it's £100 too Miley! I would definitely get it done for £40 though.
I'm also thinking about a 4d scan too (maybe tie that in with the gender scan), anyone thought about that?
I'm still 2 and a bit weeks from my first midwife appt and I'm itching to get sorted with all my scans and appts etcGrin

Mileymoocow · 05/02/2016 11:13

indi really? 2 and a bit weeks? That's so cruel! I had mine on Monday and I have my 2nd one on 2nd March for bloods and std tests etc. There has also been a mention of maybe an early scan as I've had a niggling uti

shelbTa · 05/02/2016 11:15

Yeah the time passes slowly at first. Mind you - I'm 10 weeks tomorrow and won't have had my first blood test or blood pressure or anything until 12 weeks!

X

IndiX · 05/02/2016 11:17

Really shelb? That seems late to do all your stats and bp etc.
Yeah Miley my first midwife appt is at 7 weeks, first scan at 12 and then detailed scan at 20. Only problem is I'm going to be on holiday and back home for a bit while I'm about 19-22 weeks so may get a 4d/gender scan back home privately and then once I'm back in Scotland get my 2nd scan. I keep saying to DH it's hard work having a baby I'm a different country! Haha

DrWhy · 05/02/2016 11:19

shelb and indi we are having a private scan just before 12 weeks with the NIPT (downs blood test) - the two combined is £400 - eek! That's partly because I will be overseas for weeks 12 and 14 and DH is away weeks 12 to 20 and NHS can't garuntee to get us a scan before he leaves. I'm a bit older so really want the downs test rather than just a risk level from NHS.
We might be able to find out the gender from the same blood test (although I'm not sure how reliable it is). Whether we have a private scan again around 20 weeks will probably depend if DH is back in time to go to the NHS 20 week scan. Those are around £100 privately here too so it adds up quickly.
This is why I haven't had a private early scan (even though I really, really want one!)

DrWhy · 05/02/2016 11:20

Sorry, I'm away weeks 12 and 13.

Laurenrl · 05/02/2016 12:01

I haven't even been contacted by a midwife or have any idea when appointments or scan will be and I'm 6 weeks tomorrow!

Pinklily1 · 05/02/2016 12:08

Hi ladies

I'm 10 weeks today and our 12 week scan is still over 2 weeks away - time is going so slowly!!

We are going to try and bide our time and find out the sex at the 20 week scan, rather than getting a private scan. That's because OH doesn't understand my impatience! I have no idea how much a sexing scan costs up here.

I felt awful this morning but improving a bit today. What has everyone being doing for headaches? We can't take anything can we?

Morwenna1 · 05/02/2016 12:09

That's good to know Pink that they'll be in touch if there is a problem. Just thought I'd better check!

Indi I had my booking appointment when I was 11+2! And my scan is on Tuesday next week when I'll be 13+1. I couldn't wait that long so we had a private early scan at 8+5 (all was well). Now I'm getting closer to the official "12" week scan I'm starting to get impatient and worried again that everything is ok in there (apart from backache and heartburn I'm symptomless. Boobs are fine and haven't grown at all, I do have a small bump on the front of me, but it's still not putting my overactive mind at rest!) I think it just feels like I've had to keep this quiet for sooo long I just want to be able to tell people! But I'd like to do that after we have the test results back so even longer to wait! I'm not doing well with being patient at the moment.

Dr We are thinking of having the NIPT/Harmony test if it comes to it. The place I went to for the early scan does Harmony, but I'd love to find somewhere nearby that can do this in the UK if possible - is there a particular company you're using, or did you just google NIPT?

Still not sure if we'll find out the sex early or not yet! Might keep it a surprise until the day Smile Then again we might change our minds. £40 is a bargain Shelb!!

Lauren I've not had any brown or pink cm myself, but the official advice is not to worry unless it's bright red and/or accompanied by painful abdominal cramps. Flowers

Morwenna1 · 05/02/2016 12:10

Pink I asked my midwife about paracetamol. She said yes, you can take it if you're desperate, but obviously the best thing is to avoid taking medication altogether. Have you tried that For Head stick stuff? Or are we talking migraines?

Morwenna1 · 05/02/2016 12:12

Lauren you notified your GP that you're pregnant though? Different areas do things differently! I had a GP appointment, and then they notified the midwife team who sent me details of my booking in appointment. That should happen around 8-10 weeks, but don't be surprised if it's later!

Nevlet · 05/02/2016 12:17

I saw the gp this week for headaches** her advice was the cooking migraine strips that you stick on, water, rest and that paracetamol is fine but its a personal judgement whether to take it or not. I admit i took two doses tuesday and wednesday and none yesterday or today so far but for me I think being off work and actually resting/not being stressed is the biggest help.

Laurenrl · 05/02/2016 12:21

Yep I notified GP and she said she would refer, heard nothing since. It is London though so there's probably a huge wait time, I'll probably be seen at 12 weeks and scan at 14 ;)
