I'm jealous too shanster - self employed so am only taking 3 months as it's all I can afford. I'll be working until the bitter end to have more time afterwards with baby. Plan is to go back 2 weeks before Xmas, then break for Xmas and proper return in January :(

BaggyPantz · 23/02/2016 15:49

Why, why, WHY do people feel they have the right to touch your tummy when you are pregnant?! At no other time would it be acceptable as adults.

I'm only 12 weeks FFS, I'm showing earlier than last time but honestly it just looks like I've over indulged! You can't really see anything with a baggy shirt on.

I remember last time it always caught me off guard though and I don't know what to say or do at the time. Luckily the woman in question is leaving in about 4 weeks but I just can't believe the cheek of her!!

Way too much personal space invasion as well. Big bear hugs and multiple kisses on my head. No one in my family even does that to each other. Ugh!

End of grumpy rant!

How is everybody? Grin

Sausage2229 · 23/02/2016 16:46

Sounds like a woman I used to work with! Kisses my colleague on the forehead when she said she was engaged!! So embarrassing!!

Lilliana · 23/02/2016 17:13

Shanster and kitkat that is rough, much sympathy to you both - my friend went back to full time teaching after 3 months and I'll never know how she did it. It does make me appreciate living in the UK and my job though.

Oh I'd forgotten that joy baggy! Last time a male colleague came up to me at the photocopier and put his hand on my belly. I was only 12 weeks or so and not actually showing yet. He looked at me like he couldn't believe he had just done that. He kind of muttered congratulations and neither of us ever spoke of it again Grin Good job we get on pretty well but I'm not looking forward to being public property again - I'm pretty anti touching/hugging with anyone I don't feel completely comfortable with at the best of times.

BaggyPantz · 23/02/2016 18:06

Liliana - maybe we should invest in one of these?? Grin

Wow, I really take for granted the maternity leave here. I'm lucky I can take the year. I thought with DD1 I'd feel dreadful leaving her and going back to work. But by 13 months boy was I ready to go back to work! I skipped out my front door whistling a merry tune! Now I know my true colours I'm going to take a bit more time off before DC2 arrives and enjoy time with DD and hopefully some naps.

Very rude to touch bump without permission. I'd pat their tummy back and see how they feel Smile

Lilliana · 23/02/2016 18:33

Can you get one that says 'hands off my podge'!! Grin

I was the same when I went back to work pampers - I thought I was the only one not traumatised by leaving my pfb!

balalalala · 23/02/2016 18:49

How rude touching your tummy! Not looking forward to that! I've told work today which feels like a massive weight off my mind. I'd been really worried about telling my boss as he gave me a pay rise last week and we're low on resource at the moment. However he took it really positively and was really pleased for me. The girls who work for me just about held their emotions together and were grinning so much saying how broody it's made them!

Sausage2229 · 23/02/2016 21:29

Anyone else's symptoms gone into overdrive? I feel so sick, heartburn, dizzy. Mostly extreme nausea. 12 weeks on Thursday.

Shanster · 24/02/2016 00:51

That's rough sausage, my symptoms have eased off quite a bit now. lilliana i just told me boss too, I felt like I had to since I'm showing and there are some conferences I was supposed to attend in Q3/4 that I know I can't go to, but I really didn't want to tell yet. We just had a re-org and although I know him a little he had only been my boss for 3 weeks. He told it pretty well, I just hope they won't screw me on my bonus (due next month) since they know I'm unlikely to leave while pregnant. I had the harmony test last week and my doctor called me today to say everything was fine (yay!) and did I want to know the sex? I didn't realise Harmony could detect it. I mumbled no thank you, but now I am desperate to call back and find out. I found out at the 20 week scan with my other two, and am trying to convince myself that I should have a surprise. I have one of each sex, and this is a surprise pregnancy.......but I don't think I have the will power!

BaggyPantz · 24/02/2016 10:27

My general nausea has disappeared and I feel ok during the day but my god am I shattered in the late afternoon. By the time I've got DS to bed at 7/7.30 I'm quite honestly ready for bed myself! I just have to crash in the evenings.

I've been having dizzy spells on and off since about week 7. Last week I had to sit down after emptying the dishwasher. Today I almost fainted whilst making DS breakfast. I had to continue buttering his toast with the plate on my lap, sat on a step, with the dogs looking ever so optimistic at food being brought down to that level!

Anyway, I felt so rotten, I got myself into a bit of a state and scrabbled around for someone to take DS to school. Phoned in sick at work and went to the Drs. They got me an appointment straight away, and took my blood pressure. It's fine when I'm sitting down but drops on standing. She's taken a blood sample for anaemia too, as she's concerned about my level of fatigue, so I'll get the results on Friday.

Struggling to find an appetite today Confused

BaggyPantz · 24/02/2016 10:35

shanster if you can hold off from finding out then it's totally worth it! We didn't find out with DS and it was fun everyone guessing the sex and coming up with old wives tales then having a complete surprise at the birth. Especially if you already have one of each.

I'm desperate to know this time, as I can probably see us stopping at 2, but that's more out of curiosity. I'm just going to make OH say no on my behalf if they ask at the next scan, then that's the hard bit done!

Hurr1cane · 24/02/2016 14:41

Had my scan today and my due date has changed from the 7th to the 4th. Can someone change it for me? I can't seem to be able to do it on my phone.

I'll share a photo soon. They ended up having to get me to empty my bladder, lie upside down, do some very unflattering wiggling around on the table and they finally got the measurements they needed after about half an hour. She also pressed so hard that it hurt.

All looks fine though. I have to be consultant led instead of midwife led and have extra scans and appointments because of DS, but other than that all fine.

Hope everyone else's goes well too

sparkleshine83 · 24/02/2016 16:37

Ooh ooh ooh can I join? :D I'm a first timer, I've been on the threads a little while but not on the club! Due date 20th September, East Sussex :)

Sausage2229 · 24/02/2016 17:52

Hello sparkle!
Had my 12 week scan today. All fine and heart beating away. I have a very high BMI so picture isn't great. Wiggled a lot, saw a skeletal hand! Eak!

Egid86 · 24/02/2016 18:11

Aww excellent mini sausage, bet you are over the moon. Got my scan on Tuesday, also got a very high bmi and it's my first pregnancy so I'm very nervous. Congrats Smile

zeeka · 24/02/2016 19:01

Yes, I'm with you on the feeling rough. I'm 10.5 weeks and still feel sick most of the day. Still tired but it has improved a bit. A student arrived today with aftershave on... I felt so sick it was awful! Smells are so vile at the moment, apart from oranges which are beautiful, heaven-sent globes of gloriousness (huge craving!)

Still waiting for scan date... Quite excited to see all yours too!

Arborea · 25/02/2016 07:56

Just checking in to say that I finally have my booking in appointment this morning. I hope my scan isn't too far away, I had a vaginal one the other week because of spotting and could see a heartbeat but have still been bricking it that something will have gone wrong since then. I'm also feeling dishonest by not telling work or family, though I want to hold off (not wanting to cause a fuss if it's for nothing) more than I want to come clean. OH and 2 close friends know so I have some support, but I know that the time is really dragging out for me!

Egid86 · 25/02/2016 09:02

I'm exactly the same as you Arborea, had a scan at 6 weeks and was discharged from epu but still terrified and Tuesday seems an age away but im getting there. I had to tell work as I was being sick everyday and for a risk assessment but they have been very supportive. Sickness has waned now for me which is another reason to worry ie no symptoms but my app also says some symptoms may start to go at this stage so I'm just trying to think positive. Really helps reading this forum for me.

sparkleshine83 · 25/02/2016 10:01

Oh ooh Egid86 you can see the little nose! :D

I booked myself in for a private scan at 8weeks - we're lucky enough there's a reasonably priced centre nearby - so as to avoid going absolutely mental. I didn't want to bother the EPU and take up resources other women could be using as I had no symptoms of m/c or anything but I thought I would go nuts if I didn't get some reassurance that everything was ok and there wasn't a missed m/c. Little potato with a heartbeat! Of course, it's been a week and a bit since the scan and now I'm back to anxious again...

sparkleshine83 · 25/02/2016 10:12

8wks :)

wineandcheeseplease · 25/02/2016 10:13

I'd like to join the Facebook group now too. How do I go about it? Love everyone's scan pics! My symptoms have subsided...Odd nausea now and then but other than that I don't feel pregnant. Watch me jinx it now!

wornoutboots · 25/02/2016 10:49

Sausage, don't worry about your BMI too much

For 2 of my 3 kids I had a BMI of around 45.
No problems through the pregnancy, they did the diabetes test twice because "your BMI indicates you probably have it but the test came back negative" for one of them...

it's not as worrying as they like to make out. But you do get extra scans which is nice :)

Sausage2229 · 25/02/2016 11:37

Thanks worn out. I'm currently 20st and 5ft 8 so BMI is high. Did you ever get a bump when you were pregnant or did you always look the same? When do you get extra scans? The midwife mentioned it but didn't say at how many weeks.

wornoutboots · 25/02/2016 13:20

yes, it kind of pushes through the flab which hangs below it.

This time around I'm actually borderline "acceptable" for my weight! (I was surprised when the midwife said so, I asked as she didn't include it in the list of reasons I'm consultant-led care)

but I didn't need maternity clothes, just wore my "fat day" clothes throughout
