I'm hoping to take a month. I need to use up my leave before I go off too so half of that will be leave if not 3 weeks. I'm going to sleep everyday and lay on the sofa.

Annarose2014 · 22/02/2016 11:43

I personally wouldn't leave it to 38 weeks to leave. There will certainly be some of us who give birth at 38/39 weeks. I know a girl who went off on the Friday of Wk 38 and went into labour on the Monday! She only had one weekend off! She was disgusted!

Lilliana · 22/02/2016 11:59

I'm thinking of going to 38 weeks - my DD was induced when she was 2 weeks late so I'm not expecting this one to come out on time let alone early! Also I only work 2 days a week and these are sometimes easier then staying home with DD!! I started may leave at 37 weeks last time (poss 36 weeks as it was half term) and it was ages of sitting around waiting. I don't want that again with a pre schooler in the mix!!

balalalala · 22/02/2016 11:59

Feeling very happy after my scan! Puts me at 12+4 do due date moved to the 1st.

ohanami · 22/02/2016 12:20

I was due to finish at 35 weeks last time so thought I had aaaaages to enjoy myself, do some jobs around the house and get ready for dd to arrive. My siblings and I were all 41+ week babies so thought I'd got a month and a half. Dd arrived at 33 weeks... I didn't even have a clean pair of pants to put in my (not started) hospital bag! This time I'm still aiming to finish at 35 weeks but will have everything ready "just in case" much sooner - coming home to a pigsty of a house and spending six months trying to catch up on my weeks 36-39 jobs was awful.

ohanami · 22/02/2016 12:21

Great photo balalala Smile

icklekid · 22/02/2016 13:12

I finished at 36 weeks last time. This time I will be on summer holidays so will start maternity leave when baby comes or due date which ever is first! However not quite the same when have a toddler to look after when heavily pregnant!

Great photo baggy! So pleased it went well with you too! Since getting home I've become obsessed with the nub theory... Is the thing I can see in the scan the umbilical cord?

BaggyPantz · 22/02/2016 14:06

It's a waving arm! Oh yes, someone was telling me about that the other day but I said as we're not finding out I don't want to know, so I can't guess! I wouldn't be surprised if it's another DS though, as boys just run in the family in both sides! Twins also run in the family, so I was relieved to see just the one!

Annabrooke90 · 22/02/2016 14:11

Great scan pictures :)

I finally have my booking appointment this tea time at 12 weeks (by LMP) I have booked a 16 week sexing scan for next month too at a bargain price of £23.50. I've always wanted to have a suprise but I'm far too impatient and the offer on the scan doesnt help lol.

SockQueen · 22/02/2016 15:11

I'll be starting a new job at 34 weeks, which is rather unfortunate! Hopefully my plan will be to work there for a couple of weeks, take AL from 36/7 weeks and then start ML at 38, but I'll see how open to negotiation they are at the time. I don't want to "waste" too much ML by going off too early, but at the same time I've no idea how huge/exhausted I'll get and how well I'll cope.

Aceberry · 22/02/2016 16:11

Hi all - lovely hearing the updates. I'm 10 weeks today but no scan date yet - hopefully get it this week. I am planning on taking 2 weeks annual leave in July and my mat leave to start 1 August which is 33 weeks I think, so really stopping working mid July! The is mainly because I have 2 DD and then I won't have to worry about childcare over the summer holidays and spend some nice time with them.

genome · 22/02/2016 16:13

I worked to 38 weeks with dd1 and dd2, so possibly do the same again. The only difficult bit was the waddle too and from the train station at the end 😂 I might leave it till 39 weeks depending on how much annual leave I have left. My childminder is off for 3 weeks to have her own baby in July so I will have to take some of my leave then.
Lovely scan photo bala!

Great scan photo Bala!

I finished at 37 weeks last time, as it coincided with when we were breaking up for Christmas. DS was born at 40+6 and I was so bored, fed up and lonely on maternity leave. I just walked for miles and miles and sat on my birthing ball as he'd turned back to back and I was trying to move him, so I was too scared to even do much lounging. Hmm

BaggyPantz · 22/02/2016 17:12

Reposting from earlier as I forgot to crop out my name in the other photo!

"Ours was an absolute pickle. Just would not stay still! We were sent out to walk around and get some chocolate, which actually worked!

I'm now 11+6 with a new due date of the 6th Sept.

As I work in a school, I'm just going to take my maternity leave on the first day of the September term, as there's no point in starting leave during the Summer holiday. It's worked out quite well, really. However DS will be on school holiday too, so I won't be having any time to myself but at least I get maximum time off after DC2 arrives. Unless they're late like their older brother, then I might get a couple of days to myself!"

September 2016 (Thread 2) Booking in and 12 weeks scans soon!
0hCrepe · 22/02/2016 17:50

So loving the scan pictures. Really hope mine's a wiggly one when I have it in 2 weeks (and 2 days)!

I'm in school too so will start mat leave officially on 1st sept but will actually be off from 6 weeks before that so will be off from 32 weeks. Very lucky with that.

My dc were born at 40+2 and 40+11 so hopefully won't get an early one although they prob won't let me go over because of my age. I was 10 weeks early myself but don't think that has any bearing on anything.

Yep my wardrobe is getting quite limited. I unearthed my baggy summer trousers which have a nice high elasticated waist. May as well have stayed in my pjs though for the amount of time I was in bed!

nailsathome · 22/02/2016 18:42

Found you again! I'll have a read back now

genome · 22/02/2016 20:35

Does anyone remember who was sorting out the Facebook group? Or if anyone is on it can they invite me in? I might peak my head in there too, if I can find it!

OP posts:
ohanami · 22/02/2016 20:56

I was meaning to ask the same question as genome - would anyone mind sending me an invite too (or let me know what I need to do Facebook-wise to request access from you)? Thank you.

BaggyPantz · 22/02/2016 21:24

Jumping on the Facebook bandwagon too, would love an invite Smile

sophied1983 · 22/02/2016 21:32

Yes - I am up for Facebook too :)

Lilliana · 22/02/2016 22:12

I'm in school but planning to go back for a couple of weeks as I will go stir crazy being at home for 3 weeks before my EDD (and probably another 2 weeks after it!!)

Kitkatmonster · 22/02/2016 22:16

Message one of us your email addresses and we can add you, it's secret so can't be found by searching. Problem is I've forgotten everyone's MN names who's already on there. Message me then.

Shanster · 22/02/2016 23:56

I'm jealous of everyone's mat leave plans. I'm in the US and will get 12 weeks of unpaid mat leave, so I'm not wasting a day of it before the baby comes. With #2 I got a call after 6 weeks to say the temp they hired to cover me had quit and I had to go back early. I had to be induced at 41 weeks for the last two, expect it'll be the same this time. With both of them, I wrapped up my last conference calls at 5.30pm and checked into hospital for induction at 7pm that night, babies born the following morning.
