It's soft cotton

Pawpatroller · 09/02/2016 19:40

I lost you all for a few weeks! Last time I looked I couldn't find a thread and then forgot to look for it again until now. I've had my booking in appointment and just waiting for the scan on 2nd March which feels ages away. I'm 9+4 today I think.

Sausage2229 · 09/02/2016 20:16

Hello!
Scan number 3 today. Wasn't internal so the picture is rubbish and not worth posting! Baby is still beating (and jumping) away.

Will just have to try and stop worrying! I am hoping to becomes midwife in the future - this pregnancy has completely changed my ideas about pregnancy and midwifery!

You are very very naughty pear drop! However, it is very cute!! It would be a lovely gift for your friend if you don't want to dress a baby boy in a dress (always an option!!).

Smile
Annarose2014 · 09/02/2016 20:21

Thank god sausage relieved for you!

Sharesinpampers · 09/02/2016 20:26

Great news sausage Smile

Pear, it's very cute! And a totally appropriate present for a June baby up here in baltic Scotland! I had my DD in leggings and dresses most of the summer when she was new.

peardrop2 · 09/02/2016 20:27

Sausage - BlushGrin Never even crossed my mind that you could dress a baby boy in a dress at home Grin Great news about your scan!! You must be so happy.

So my friends were talking about when they first felt their dc2 move (with each other today). They both said 14/15 weeks!! Something to look forward to! I'm 10+4 today Smile

peardrop2 · 09/02/2016 20:30

Share - Thank you Wink I'll suggest my friend moves to Scotland if we have a heatwave down South Grin At least I have a plan A and plan B. DH is not impressed with my purchase Grin

Sharesinpampers · 09/02/2016 20:32

I mean it's a good present if you decide not to keep it Smile

peardrop2 · 09/02/2016 20:41

Share - exactly Wink

nailsathome · 09/02/2016 21:27

Good news sausage!

I first felt both of mine move at about 14/15 weeks.

Love the dress pear but yes I'll bet on you having a boy now!

genome · 09/02/2016 21:38

The dress is very cute! I think it would be a lovely gift or equally lovely on a ds! Wink You always need photos to show any future girl/boyfriends! Grin

Evening all. Cute dress!

Has anyone started using stretch mark cream yet as a preventive method? Or is that all BS.

peardrop2 · 09/02/2016 22:27

Thanks nails, genome and new Smile Good to hear it would be a well received present then!

Yes, I'm using the Elemis body oil for now but I've also got a mum&me bump cream that I should start using up. Last time I swore by Mamo mio oil and I'll be buying some more as soon as I've finished the Elemis oil.

Annarose2014 · 09/02/2016 23:15

Unfortunately its BS as stretch marks develop from the deeper layers up as opposed to from the surface down. When people use stuff and dont develop stretchmarks, they werent gonna get them anyway!

However using lotion is nice anyway - your bump gets itchy and annoying later on as the skin stretches.

Btw I felt no movement till 19/20 weeks last time as had an anterior placenta so it was muffling everything. It was really crap waiting and waiting though!

Annarose2014 · 09/02/2016 23:17

Must mention that I got stretchmarks last time and was really upset but lo and behold they were completely invisible within about 6 months. So this time I dont give a shit, lol.

peardrop2 · 10/02/2016 02:53

I have to say that because of my history with stretch marks I don't feel that way about the stretch mark bs theory. Sorry Anna! I feel that if your body is prone to stretch marks then you will get them if you don't smother yourself with oil or cream (oil is better). I knew my body was prone to stretch marks because I got them when I was young and put on weight and then lost it without looking after my skin. I did not gain one new stretch make in pregnancy and even my midwife congratulated me on a "well looked after bump". She said she could tell who's bump has been covered in cream and who's had not! If you're not sure whether you're prone to stretch marks then I would definitely smother yourself! Stretch marks never completely disappear and they're ugly but part of Mother Nature and the fun of being a mum so there's nothing wrong with them but personally they make me feel body conscious and I wish I could have prevented the ones I got when I was young. Even if you've not had stretch marks with dc1 I would still smother yourself just in case! Just my opinion Smile

Argh I've woken up feeling sick and now can't get back to sleep, So much for feeling more energetic yesterday!!

peardrop2 · 10/02/2016 02:58

Anna - just realised you said your stretch marks are now invisible! Wow that's amazing. Never heard of anyone being able to completely get rid of them naturally before. Mine are still very very visible on the sides where I had "love handles" luckily not across my stomach Sad

icklekid · 10/02/2016 03:20

pear except those of us who did smoother every day and still got them.. I think you might have been lucky!

sausage glad scan went well. I've got my first on Fri only found out today and looking unlikely that dh can come. If something is wrong I will not cope but not sure what to do other than hope all is ok

peardrop2 · 10/02/2016 03:42

Ickle - that's sad Sad How annoying for you as it is a chore to apply everyday! I was almost in the same situation as you with my DH but we've managed to change the time of the scan so we've got a sitter now and he's more available work wise. Would you consider moving it to Monday? I couldn't have done that, just want it over with now!!

Lilliana · 10/02/2016 05:06

icke you could phone then and see if they will change it.

Went to the loo and now wide awake - looks like this is it for sleep tonight Sad

0hCrepe · 10/02/2016 05:54

I'm wide awake too.
Sausage so glad all was ok today.
Re stretch marks I got them as a young teen all the way up my legs from growing but never got any with my dc on the bump, was definitely luck for me! I generally moisturise more now anyway though due to dry skin.

ohanami · 10/02/2016 06:30

I only got to 33 weeks last time so not a huge bump, it was covered in bio oil, and stretch marks still got me! I couldn't see a single one when I was pregnant but after my cs I ran my fingers over my tummy thinking they'd left some kind of massive dressing all over me because it felt funny, then had a sudden realisation of what the "crepe paper" feeling was! They're not too bad at all now. You can still see them slightly but they've faded to almost skin colour. I'm hoping they won't be as bad this time because my skin's already done all the stretching once!

Another one waking up with a nasty headache this morning. First trimester is a wonderful time...

ickle my dh nearly missed my first scan so I know how you must be feeling. Chances are everything will be fine but that doesn't make it any easier I know.

Lilliana · 10/02/2016 06:34

I didn't get any until I turned 40 weeks. DD was 2 weeks late and by then I had loads! I used oil but tbh I don't think it makes a jot of difference and I don't care that I have stretch marks either - I'm not 20 anymore and wanting to wear stomach showing clothes!!! I might use something as it's nice when your bump gets all itchy but won't be spending a fortune on miracle cures.

icklekid · 10/02/2016 06:39

Thanks everyone am going to phone them but as it's from gp referral and at epu I'm not sure if will be possible. On the positive I've managed to arrange childcare!

lilliana I'm afraid waking up at 5.30 was a lie in for me! But then my ds is a proper early riser! Hope your ok I find early bed times are the solution!

eckythumpenallthat · 10/02/2016 08:08

Stretch mark cream is expensive bs......your going to get them or not and I think a lot of it is genetics...I was laughing when I got to 42+3 (there will not be a repeat performance of THAT this time round) and didn't have any. 10 days post birth I lost ALOT of weight very quickly with the trauma and dd being poorly and feeding round the clock they all popped up out of no where and appeared then. The swines. But I think it's nice in that you can have this relaxing 5 mins putting it on.
