Thanks for the tip Shares! I just wasn't prepared. My app was at a Children's Centre and a water machine wasn't apparent! Confused

Sharesinpampers · 08/02/2016 21:49

Uh oh, no idea then eskimo !

Surely by now they'd have realised they need to make it easier....

ohanami · 08/02/2016 21:56

Good tip shares. We have to reuse the same wee pot for every midwife appointment and take it home to empty it so anything to keep the wee firmly on the inside and not contaminating my handbag is very welcome!

Bumped into a lady I know in the blood test queue with my booking notes on full view. Luckily I think she was distracted by dd having a full on melt down (I said couldn't make the I pad work at the same time as having blood taken but she disagreed) so don't think she noticed the notes. They're not the most subtle are they...

I've finally got my consultant referral sorted out - after being told last week they'd "got everything they needed" it turned out that everything they needed was just sitting in a pile of admin somewhere waiting to be triaged. I spoke to an incredibly helpful lady though who spent the next two hours trying to sort it out for me and managed to book it for 30 minutes after my scan which is fantastic. I'm excited about getting things going but just picturing walking back into the maternity unit has made me feel anxious beyond belief so I hope I'm not a complete wreck when I get to the appointment.

ohanami · 08/02/2016 21:58

eskimo some places do nice big collection pots with a spout so you can pour it into the ridiculous test pot - always worth checking!!

eckythumpenallthat · 08/02/2016 22:02

ohanami I had to reuse the same pot last time. Was flamin disgusting no matter how much I washed it it always smelt. First hospital appointment I had they had them out in the anti natal waiting area. I filled my bag with them.

eckythumpenallthat · 08/02/2016 22:11

And I've just noticed catfacecrayola I'm from Preston too. Well penwortham really ~waves~

ohanami · 09/02/2016 02:46

I know ecky - dh had forgotten about the pot washing and his face when I reminded him was a picture. Last time I went straight to hospital from the midwife and it was all a bit of a panic so I forgot until a couple of days after dd was born that I had week old wee in my handbag. Might buy my own pots on amazon this time...

Newtothevillage · 09/02/2016 07:17

nails I have had the worst headaches. Almost constantly. I caved at the weekend and took paracetamol but still there in the back ground.

I also feel a bit crap, had two days of feeling knackered and emotional and like I just need to lay down, work is gonna be tough today.
I have my scan on the 19th.

Lilliana · 09/02/2016 08:56

I had the opposite - had to pick up my green notes and fill them in beforehand and then they took them away and I left with nothing! Apparently I get them back at the scan.

'Mummy I done a poo' are the words I dread most at the moment. Potty training and morning sickness are not a good combination Envy

nailsathome · 09/02/2016 09:27

Newtothevillage I'm taking paracetamol a couple of times a day. And struggling to look after the dcs

Annarose2014 · 09/02/2016 09:49

It's got a heartbeat!

September 2016 (Thread 2) Booking in and 12 weeks scans soon!
nailsathome · 09/02/2016 09:52

Yay Anna

wornoutboots · 09/02/2016 10:05

apparently the pharmacists now charge £1 locally for a pee sample pot!

the nice nurse practitioner gave me 2 when I was there for antibiotics and said "you'll need them, someone always manages to take the first one away!" (he's right)

I may have rather grimly found a pee sample in the pouch on the back of my toddler's buggy a month or so after having his sister....

Annarose2014 · 09/02/2016 10:18

Speaking of wee, thank god for shares tip of the water cup. This morning I forgot all about the wee sample and went before I arrived.

Thankfully I remembered that tip and grabbed a plastic cup and what few drops I had left I was able to collect & transfer. No way would I have caught it otherwise!

eckythumpenallthat · 09/02/2016 11:11

Yey anna lovely scan pic too

I'm off work today and risked the contents of my stomach cleaning out the fridge. DH thinks I've gone insane cos even though I've not had any sickness there was a 'smell' in there that was knocking me green every time I went in. Now it's sparkly and clean and odd smell free Grin now off to fill it with processed white carbs cos veg and healthy stuff ain't doing it for me ATM. Lol

0hCrepe · 09/02/2016 11:14

Lovely pic Anna!
My booking in on thurs is the only thing I've got to look forward to!

illjusttalktomyself · 09/02/2016 11:44

Hi, just wondered if I can gate crash here? I'm due August 27th but my babies like to be between 8 & 10 days late so will most likely be born in sept, the Aug thread all seem so much further on in their pregnancies do feel this one may be more suited

totatola · 09/02/2016 13:04

Hi everyone! Sorry I haven't been posting for a while but have still been following and I'm loving all the scan photos!

I'm still only 6 weeks so feeling a long way behind some of you but I have a private scan booked for next week when I'll be 7+6 and my booking in appointment with the midwife the week after. 12 week scan is not until mid March but is booked for when I'll be 11+6.

Lots of fatigue and low-level nausea here but no actual vomiting yet thankfully. Hope those of you that are suffering are managing ok.

We must have some 12 week scans coming up soon? Exciting!

SockQueen · 09/02/2016 13:29

Had my booking appt today, midwife was really nice and we got through all the paperwork, bloods etc fairly swiftly. We discussed all the usual lifestyle advice and she said that at the moment "I don't care what you eat, as long as you eat, but read this (leaflet) once your sickness settles down." I like her!

I do not like Emma of Emma's Diary - does everyone get given this? Looks like a thinly-veiled mass-marketing exercise, so I'm torn about whether I want to sign up and get spammed into oblivion, but I do love freebies! Blush

eckythumpenallthat · 09/02/2016 13:42

sock Emma's diary is the most annoying bit of marketing ever. It is mostly crap and you get bombarded with emails. This time round Emma and Bounty can do one

icklekid · 09/02/2016 14:35

sock I signed up for all freebies last time and just unsubscribed to all emails after!

illjust I'm also technically due end of August but they are far to far ahead so feel more at home here!

ecky I need to do that to our fridge. Just put food shop away and is horrible but really can't face it

Congratulations anna lovely scan photo!

I'm just waiting for date to come through for mine...

Lilliana · 09/02/2016 14:45

Emma's diary and bounty are both a pita - I used to get calls trying to sell me windows etc because of them (they told me this is where they got my number!) usually just when DD was feeding or sleeping Angry. You clearly know I have just had a baby do you really think I'm interested?!

I didn't get a bounty pack this time but the Emma diary freebies (based on 4 years ago) are pants and not worth the agro imo.

peardrop2 · 09/02/2016 17:18

Illj - welcome to the August thread :-) My EDD is 2/3 rd September so we're not far apart and likely to be similar timings as I won't be allowed to go over.

Socks - I second that...stay away from Emma and bounty unless you want lots of spam mail!

Tot - my 11 week scan is on Friday and my 12 week scan is the following Friday. It's such a painful wait. Glad to hear you're not suffering too much! I too have just been feeling sick but only physically got sick once and have been uber tired.

Afm...

I am probably tempting fate for having a boy now but I brought a pink dress in the sale today marked down to 50%. I really could not resist. So naughty Blush I do have a friend having a baby in June who I could give this to if she has a small baby. It's size 3 months and comes with tights so I don't know if it would be suitable for her anyway. Always tricky to tell. I normally stick to baby grows when buying presents!

Also, feeling much more energetic today and less sick. May this continue!!!!

peardrop2 · 09/02/2016 17:44

peardrop2 · 09/02/2016 17:45

Do we think that would be a suitable present for a baby girl born in June as my back up plan? The material isn't that thick. You don't tend to dress babies in short sleeves all the time from memory do you?!
